This song is 24 crt gold - not to be dismissed or given away lightly - the weight of this song is to be only dedicated & saved to that special person that you love & to be played/seranaded years later into your relationship & carrying that same romantic sentiment - to millions of couples throughout the world this has been "their song" 🎶🤩👍
From back when groups would meet on streets and street corners and practice singing. Everything from choreography, to background vocals were practiced over and over, then they would try to get their acts into clubs, hoping to be discovered by an agent. Many of the groups of the 50's and 69's got their start this way.
I was 9 years old in 1959 when this song came out. I loved it... still do. The music of that time and the following years was amazing. I hope young folks don't get distracted by the sound quality for Heaven's sake! PLUS having a black group perform on American Bandstand was a BIG DEAL for us! I hate the antics they were made to do... just to fit in and seem "unthreatening".
Iconic! most romantic smooth song ever! I appreciated it even at a very young age before I was even 13 years old I would have the radio on and swaying in my room alone pretending to be in love.
You have to get the actual audio, sounds perfect. This is a performance on a television program from back then that's why it's difficult. Hand's down one of the greatest songs ever. One of my top ten also💯🔥🔥🔥
Will you listen to Little Anthony and the Imperials, “Hurt So Bad” , ….and “I think I’m going out of my head.” My parents loved Little Anthony and the Imperials, they are Genius!❤️
This one of my top favorite slow song of all. It's always has that feeling of being out at the drive in theater, at a house party in the basement and even out in the car 🚗 out crusing with the one you love ❤. Great reaction indeed✊🏾👍🏾
Great to see you're reacting to some real oldies! You should also react to Nat King Cole. Known as the man with a Voice Like Velvet. Suggest...Unforgettable, When I Fall In Love, and The Very Thought Of You. They were recorded back in the early 50's. Appreciate your willingness to explore these early songs and artists.
Maybe shoulda opted for the studio version on this one, although chances are, given the campfire in the snow get up, they were lip synching to it. That piano and that guitar with the slight reverb and the shbop shbops give this song a mystery feeling to this day. Try listening to this one at night sitting on the porch or spending time with a significant other. The Flamingos added those parts. Frank Sinatra recorded this song a decade earlier and even then the song was written a decade before that. The guy introducing the song was Dick Clark, host of American Bandstand, who still lends his name to the New Year's Eve show on ABC, iirc. So you could say he was the Ryan Seacrest of the 50's and 60's and 70's and 80's, but he came across much much cooler.
Twon; want to know how I got into Doo-Wop? I was about 12 and saw the classic movie “American Graffiti”; a classic from the 70’s, set in the early 60’s, great movie, but the entire movie has music playing in every single scene, and each song is better than the rest; this song was in it. I Highly recommend that you watch it; the music, the cars, the clothes and the stories; PERFECT ❤️❤️❤️💎💎💎💎
At first I thought was a modern spoof. I thought it was great. When I found out it was a 1959 song, my jaw hit the ground! Beautiful lyrics, mood and sound.
There are lots of good doo wop ballads that you could do. The Platters were the kings of that, and a couple of good ones by them are "The Great Pretender" and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", the latter, like this song, being a remake of an old classic song. Another good one is "In the Still of the Nite" by The Five Satins.
It’s such beautiful song. It’s funny how the producer initially didn’t like change in the arrangement and the added shebop. Changed his mind when it became a big hit. No one even plays the original version.
One of the grestest doo wop songs of all times......The only black group in the 50s bigger than The Flamingos were The Platters....btw.....The host introducing is Dick Ckark and as you hear he says this song is old and is being remade in 1959......i did resesrch and the original version was done in 1934....lol.....so this song is almost 100 yrs old.....doing my research i listened to many versions of this song and hands down The Flamingos are the best and thats not even debateble.....as for the clip i love seeing old school performers doing their hits in their prime but on this occasion i say you should have opted for the audio version because this clip the sound is almost warped.....it kinda distorts the song.....but the vocals are so on point it still shines thru the distortion
Love this song, but Art Garfunkel makes it really special ❤️ You must do some Little Anthony and the Imperials, " hurt so bad " and " going out of my head " really beautiful old songs and the voices and harmonies are top notch ❤️
Wow, even teenagers were dressed sharp back then, sometimes they came directly from school to be on TV, on the American Band Stand. Before videos, things were on firm which did not last as long. I miss people dressing up for work and school.
For future reference when looking up these classic songs look for "remastered" or "HD", maybe even video of someone just spinning the record on their stereo. Sometimes modern technology can clean them up. This song is notoriously muddy.
Excellent choice!!!! I always thought this song had a “dreamy” feel to it. I have a GREAT ONE for you: “LONELY TEARDROPS” by Jackie Wilson; I’d love to see what you think of it ❤️😊
How about a new group Savage garden and there are two great songs by them truly madly deeply and I knew I loved you before I met you the lead singer has an awesome voice. Another good one is Elvin Bishop fooled around and fell in Love the lead singer is Mickey Thompson who was also the lead singer for Jefferson starship and he has an awesome voice I am sure you will love them all I haven't steered you wrong I'm still waiting for a journey I'll be all right without you
This is a recording of them singing live back in 1959...I am sure the audio quality might be a little lacking. But still..they are amazing. Try listening to a different video.
IMO this is the most romantic song ever. I could listen to tis song on an endless loop.
Yes sir..yes sir...beautiful song..
This song was long before my time BUT I absolutely love it !!
One of the best est vocal performances of all time!
I believe this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful love songs of all time!!
You have never really experienced this song until you dance in the dark with the one you love. It will blow your mind!
I was 13 years old when that song came out. I loved it then and now!!!
This is my all time favorite song! Thank you thank you! This is for you sweetheart in heaven. Still gives my arms chills and a tear in my eye

Terry Johnson said God sent him the guitar cords and direction for this version. Most amazing and beautiful group ever. Love love love the flamingos
Beautiful slow jam. Timeless.
That last verse has me in tears every time, so beautiful 🌸
This has been my favorite song since I was 7. 🎶🎵♥️♥️
This is the kind of amazing music I would stay up all night listening to on my little radio by my bed
I love your facial expression when the backup singers kicked in.
If this song isn't "a mood" as the kids say, I don't know what is. So atmospheric.
Those “kids” that’s say it are adults now or entering adulthood I believe the new shit is vibe

My favorite song in the whole wide world. Thank you for playing it
Old but timeless GOLD!
I love this song, makes me feel like I am watching a classic romance movie from the 50s or 60s.

I love that song so much! My God their voices are magical!🎼

Timeless classic this is ... love it
Listen to the studio version in stereo. The fidelity of the 1959 original is there.
I have a beautiful daughter! Thank you Flamingos! 😊
Will you listen to Little Anthony and the Imperials, “Hurt So Bad” , ….and “I think I’m going out of my head.” My parents loved Little Anthony and the Imperials, they are Genius!❤️
Little Anthony was insane. That voice 😱!
Yessss that's a beauty! 🥰🔥 I'd also love to see Twon react to Junior Walter & The Allstars, "Shot Gun" is straight 🔥🔥🔥🥰💖💖💖
My favorite song of all time ❤
Beautiful song 🎶 reaches the soul 🥰❤️❤️😍🥳🙌🎄😘💃🥂
This reminds me of the movie "A Bronx Tale" by Robert DeNiro. I love that a lot of the old songs are included in movies.
Brook Benton, 'A Rainy Night in Georgia'. C'mon now, listen to your elders.
This song will never grow old. Check out their ,'Jump Children '.
Such a shame about the audio…the harmonies from these guys were incredible!!
Such a classic…..great choice!! ♥️. Peace
This song is as smooth as it gets.
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
This was a TV Show.
My favorite
Oldies but goodies 💜✌
This one of my top favorite slow song of all. It's always has that feeling of being out at the drive in theater, at a house party in the basement and even out in the car 🚗 out crusing with the one you love ❤. Great reaction indeed✊🏾👍🏾
The greatest love song of all time. What we used to call “back seat music” “submarine watching music”. You get it.

I love this song love that old Motown sound 😍

Gotta love the old school doo wop
I see you appreciate Good Music. man, there's a lot of it to hear. Enjoy🤜🤛😊
At first I thought was a modern spoof. I thought it was great. When I found out it was a 1959 song, my jaw hit the ground! Beautiful lyrics, mood and sound.
The 1959 version is a remake of a song from the 30s.
@@lesliejohnson1549 Thanks.
Oh mercy! Another great one!!!
The original audio is great - the problem is with the rubbish quality of TV sound back then.
Best slow dancing song of all time.
The video 👍
Thank you.
1959. Our first dance song, July 27, 2002.....
Such a cold song!!!!
Beautiful song. I 1st heard it on twins the movie

It’s such beautiful song. It’s funny how the producer initially didn’t like change in the arrangement and the added shebop. Changed his mind when it became a big hit. No one even plays the original version.
We raced home from school to watch American Bandstand!

I love this song it’s beautiful but haunting too, the chorus is kinda scary and I don’t know why 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
'Higher Ground' Al Parson.
Art Garfunkel raised the bar with this song.
Love this song, but Art Garfunkel makes it really special ❤️ You must do some Little Anthony and the Imperials, " hurt so bad " and " going out of my head " really beautiful old songs and the voices and harmonies are top notch ❤️
hey homie i liked and subscribed much love to you
Twon, do you know what slow dancing is? This is one of the best slow dancing songs!

A lot of these great old songs have been remastered, so keep the faith. There are much clearer versions of this same song.
Get the studio cut. It's fantastic.
If you like trumpets and saxophones listen to "wonderland by night " by bert kaemfert. Plus u need to react to more of the platters.
👏🏾🏆☺️✨
'Yellow' Coldplay.
I could tell what you were talking about with the choppiness of the video but the group sounded really good. Thanks.
For future reference when looking up these classic songs look for "remastered" or "HD", maybe even video of someone just spinning the record on their stereo. Sometimes modern technology can clean them up. This song is notoriously muddy.

Well... If this song was "very old" in 1959 already, then how old is it? Does anybody know?
Try listening to 'The Very Thought Of You' by Nat 'King' Cole. Absolutely gorgeous love song

Try listening to the song in its original quality stereo. It's on youtube.
Great classic!! Audio is terrible. Please listen to the album or studio version
1959
This is a recording of them singing live back in 1959...I am sure the audio quality might be a little lacking. But still..they are amazing. Try listening to a different video.
Patti Austin does a good cover
TBH it's muffled audio makes it sound better imo
This is a classic! Glad you're reacting to it.
Vanessa Williams “Save The Best For Last “ and “Dreamin “
Pleaes America, bring back the du wop groups. Please!!
Find a good audio of this song, dear. I love this song.
