No matter how packed the dance floor was, you and your partner never bumped into anyone because you pretty much just held each other close and swayed in place to this one😊
The Flamingos were one of the early 50's doo-wop groups. They were known for their great harmonies & choreography moves. They influenced other acts such as The Temptations later on. "I Only Have Eyes For You" is their biggest hit but they had quite a few good songs "If I Can't Have You", "That's My Desire", "Golden Teardrops", "I'll Be Home", "Lovers Never Say Goodbye" etc.
I feel like the Flamingos gave it a theatrical dimension where you just feel like they are singing it on a street corner but one is there a couple are on 2nd floor balconies and just staged in different areas of the scene.
To show you how OLD this song really was when the Flamingos recorded it, “I Only Have Eyes For You” was composed in 1934 by Harry Warren with lyrics by Al Dubin. This tune was featured in the 1934 movie “Dames,” first as Dick Powell singing to Ruby Keeler, then as a production number in which Powell sees Keeler's face everywhere he looks. th-cam.com/video/BhVeQV5HBbc/w-d-xo.html
This is "Our" song my Husband will be celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary this November 15th. I was born in 53 and my Husband in 52. When we were dating in the 70's this song came on, and we found out that we both loved this song!!! It was played at our wedding, so this became "Our Song". Thanks for your reaction!!
Well, what a coincidence, this afternoon I spent hours with my laptop and TH-cam listening to non stop doo-wop music from the 50s and now you pop up on my algorithms with this song because I've just watched your Dear God, Ren reaction video. Go down the doo-wop rabbit hole and you're in for a treat. Such great music.
Such a timeless song and nice reaction. Nothing like a good Do Wop song to start the day and this is a banger,so well know but deservedly so. Man how far we have come since then and compared to todays music it's sorely missed.

Several other successful recordings of the song were made in 1934, and it later became a hit for the Flamingos in 1959 and Art Garfunkel in 1975. - Wikipedia
I absolutely adore this wonderful song. Despite it being a bit before our time, it’s the song my husband and I consider ‘our song.’ Thanks for reacting to this one Saeed. I will never get tired of hearing this or watching someone else’s appreciation of it.
I remember this fantastic doo wop song. Period shows use these classics with the amazing harmonies. Pure music.

Slow-dancing velvet... beautiful!
Oooh! I like that! Well put!
I love the the Fkamongos did this song, that doo wop sound. I was around in 59, so remember it well, still a great dong to dance with your loved one
Wonderful reaction. You were listening so intensely. This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever.
Such a great song! Thanks for watching!
What a recording! Supernatural!
Was always nice and soothing. Still sounds great. 👍
I was 3 yo, but it’s the dreamy sound of the late 50’s “Do-Wop” sound, that still is sooooo smooth.
Sounds amazing! Love this.
Wow. Really going back now 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Love this song, it’s beautiful. You’ve definitely either heard it in movies (it was in “A Bronx tale) or in commercials.
I wrote my comment before the end of the video lol but at least you figured out where you’ve heard it lol.
Amazing song!
And love that movie! 😃

Thanks for watching.
Back to the innocent 50's, my first decade. This song was actually written in 1934.
DOO WOP is the genre

I thought it was, but it sounded a bit different than the Doo Wop i have heard so far. Learning a lot !

This is one of my favorites. I grew up with dowop, you need to listen to the Skyliners Since I don't have you and This I swear
Check out the movie "American Graffiti" and the soundtrack to get some examples of the music from that era.
