By far the best cover version of the song. Especially the first 30 secs and the way Nate Nelson handles that opening line (listen to what he does to the word *kind*). Highly influential.
This song reminds me of my mother each time I here it played. February 27, 2014 she went to be with the Lord snd it still seems like she just left us. I don't think I'll ever be complete without her love to give me support.
My mother passed the year after yours and I am sorry for your loss. As long as you have the memories of your mother as I do, you still have her love and support. When you get to a crossroad, think about what she would say and follow that leading. That is her love and support. With prayer and supplication, the pain of my mom’s loss has eased. Ironically the year this song was recorded by the Flamingos is the year my parents got married, 1959.
This is one of the greatest songs of all time. Many might have made it before but very few groups could deliver it with such smooth, easy, romantically trance-like vocalized harmony. Thanks for posting!
I agree, but they had a lot of beautiful ballad's, in their discography, and so did a lot of the other groups of the era, but the thing that differentiate, the Flamingos, from other groups, was the echo chamber effect, to their sound... Check it out...
What happen to when this beautiful song would play on the only station on radio..those were the days my friends..thank God for TH-cam where we can take a blissful trip to then, to listen and dream of yesterday and how simple life was back then, when music was real, by fabulous artists like these..❤💋❤
My family were friends with them in the late 60’s in Ft. Lauderdale. We would all go deep sea fishing and then come home and cook. We would all eat and dance. They were the nicest and kindest of men. Great memories.
Its a shame that my generation can't produce music with a sound as beautiful as this, there is no more slow dancing.Twerking has taken over. You can not only hear the difference in music but also dance as well such a shame. I only wish I were born in this time. 😓
@@stormwolf1026 Incorrect. Gallant is just one more in a long line of four note, 2 octave, autotune wannabes. The fact is, in the late 50's to late 60's , doo wop, and motown were a period of TALENT. Not autotune or studio filtered enhancing. Absolute, full range, 4 octave talent. Owned by the amazing voices of sincere AA men, some women, that sang of love, hope, majesty and dedication. Not abuse, disrespect, hatred and violence.

This song - this version - has been "our song" for as long as I can remember. Today we celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. Thank you, Flamingos!
Hello there
Minor chord arrangement will put you in a dream-like trance! one of the greatest songs of all time!!!
Such a Romantic Song...Thank You
This brings back my teen years & Special Dates memories.
Absolute Perfection why cant the music be like like this today.
There would still be people who would find fault in it. Damn shame tho.
Because people don't want music this good today. That's why.
they can't .
Because the generation of people back then that thought the way they did no longer exist and if they are there very old

Back in the days when things were tough, but still a joy to live.
That's the 90's
Just as dreamy today as it ever was!
Yup! This is the best rendition of this song. I love the way The Flamingos sing it. It was played on the set of "The Wonder Years" in which I was an extra and danced to it. Thanks for the memories.
Lucky you! I'm 45 and I loved the show. I was in the 6th grade like Kevin, Paul and Winnie. If I'm not mistaken, they played this in the episode in which Kevin had the crush on the teacher.
Yall did a great job with the show.
One of the most beautiful melodies ever !!!🎩🗝🎶🙏🏼💵
Everything about this song moves me. It’s 2021 and I still find the music of the 50/60s so so much better than the crap they sing today.
Amen my Man Amen!
Truly one of the best "doo wop" songs ever recorded! And what a handsome group of guys!!! Love it!
This song has always been so mesmerizing. I remembered hearing that many, many years ago.
Such a beautiful song 😍🥰 I get teary eyed every time I hear it 🥲
Simply one of the best songs... Done by one of the most incredible vocal groups of that era...
What a song and vocalists that these guys are very few and far between nowadays! These tracks just make you listen and stir up so much emotion! Fabulous song....I love it, thanks for sharing xx
One person said it best: "Otherworldly."
Vincit Omnia seriously! I first heard it after finding it in my grandmother’s belongings (she had just passed). It was on a compilation album. I was 15 and man...did it take me somewhere else. That was back in ‘98 and it still sends me somewhere else.
....I envy all those who enjoyed these classics, am only 34 and deejay part time... I must say that these songs are just AWESOME, REAL FEEL AND STRAIGHT TO THE HEART..... NICE
TIME STANDS STILL WHEN ONE HEARS THIS FROM THEIR YOUTH!!!AMAZINGLY CLASSIC CREATION ❤️
Absolutely love this song !! Fantastic singers!! Great memories ❤
Never gets old it’s mesmerizing 🌺
Such a timeless beauty ❤❤
By far the best cover version of the song. Especially the first 30 secs and the way Nate Nelson handles that opening line (listen to what he does to the word *kind*). Highly influential.
The man is so gosh darn in love he doesn’t know where the hell he is 😂 I love this song
Beautifully romantic and so good for slow together dancing. A true CLASSIC.
Doo bob cha bop---- SO great!!! My dad had this 8 track and I listened to it every day......
Thank you For your gift of song..beautifully done.
I cannot put into words why but the most haunting & beautiful song ever created…
One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. This song is a timeless classic. Its 2022 and people are still listening to it.
I’m here in 2023 I’m 17 but I’ve been listening to this song for a WHILE
I’m so in love with this song after my daughter’s dance studio did a duet to this song!!!
One of the all time best slow jams. I wish I lived this era. So much good music
Those cats were lit. What a Blessing. Beautiful.
One of the greatest songs ever, the phrasing, timing , lyirics, vocals, sweeeeet!
that one commercial with the senior couple dancing bring tears
and brought me here :)
Used in the movie ' The Right Stuff' in a great scene.
What a hauntingly beautiful song. Timeless harmony beautiful melody! A rare and true gem!
Somewhere on the internet here is the story of how he came about this version of the song and it's actually really interesting
Hi
This is one of the greatest songs of all time. Many might have made it before but very few groups could deliver it with such smooth, easy, romantically trance-like vocalized harmony. Thanks for posting!
I agree, but they had a lot of beautiful ballad's, in their discography, and so did a lot of the other groups of the era, but the thing that differentiate, the Flamingos, from other groups, was the echo chamber effect, to their sound... Check it out...
@@georgeroyal5860 Very True!
What happen to when this beautiful song would play on the only station on radio..those were the days my friends..thank God for TH-cam where we can take a blissful trip to then, to listen and dream of yesterday and how simple life was back then, when music was real, by fabulous artists like these..❤💋❤
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
One of the greatest songs ever. Before my time but I love it to death thanks. Never saw them perform.
One of the greatest songs I've had the pleasure to hear in my life..Awesome 👌
This song chills me in such a good way i have a hard time catching my breath.
This arrangement is pure genius! Listening to it is being on(or in)a Heavenly cloud
Such a classic beautiful song
All these years in and still so very, very beautiful ❤
My family were friends with them in the late 60’s in Ft. Lauderdale. We would all go deep sea fishing and then come home and cook. We would all eat and dance. They were the nicest and kindest of men. Great memories.
Its a shame that my generation can't produce music with a sound as beautiful as this, there is no more slow dancing.Twerking has taken over. You can not only hear the difference in music but also dance as well such a shame. I only wish I were born in this time. 😓
You may be young, but you have a mature soul....
You are so very right...
this literally is not true, your just not listening to the right music, you should check out gallant.
Viking Helseth if i’m being honest here, you seem blind to the fact there will always be music that’s hateful no matter what era. and you don’t like 21st century music because of the audio quality? lol, i like this song but if i’m honest you just come off as some old person stuck in an era that’s over, there is still likeable music in this generation, your just not listening to the right music.
@@stormwolf1026 Except...I played successfully in 4 bands over 30 years, and my "opinion" is echoed by four well-documented polls taken by Rolling Stone, Billboard 100, AMA, and the R&R hall-of-fame......all concluded that, indeed, true voice quality music and voice no longer exists in music today, and, sadly, is only becoming more electronically altered. The statement given, was correct. This music no longer exists. Get over yourself. Your obvious immaturity is the only thing witnessed here. I NEVER said I hate any music.
I am almost 72 now but I can remember it playing all the time and loved it the first time I heard it. Still love it, such a beautiful song.
Pure Magic, so good, sends chills all through your body.
My Grandpa loved this song. He showed it to me as a kid and I've loved in ever since.
Yep , i heard my parents playing this when i was maybe 3 or 4 years old and loved it the very first time i heard it .
Another old one you might like and I don't know if it was sung by the flamingo's but I think it was sung by The Platters was called Red Sails in the Sunset and you might like that .
Another one you might like and it's from maybe around 1965 is the James Bond song You Only Live Twice as sung by Nancy Sinatra
The greatest back seat music of all time
Yes I fell for it
So amazing!! Even the one hour loops on TH-cam of the flamingos version of this is never enough....I start the video again for another hour
