I'm lightweight (118lbs) and I'd rather be able to land 10/10 shots with a .22lr than fail to hit targets with a larger caliber due to recoil.

Practice being key, 22lr has every caliber out there beat. 500 rounds of 22 is less than 25 dollars. 500 rounds of 9mm is 120 dollars.

But to be honest 9mm from a glock 17 barely recoils at all.

I spent the better part of a 35 year career as a firefighter/EMT on an ambulance and I can testify to the fact that a 22 IS viable. In my experience the overwhelming majority of firearm related deaths were 22 caliber.

Something that gets ignored for the most part is collateral damage. Once that round leaves the barrel, the shooter is often liable for any and all damage it causes, whether it's a legitimate self-defense scenario or not. This is a strong pro for the .22. Missed shots will do less damage, strikes will not likely exit, and as said here, weapon size and round expense will also likely encourage proficiency. Additionally, a high quality .22 pistol can be had for not much more than most "entry level" 9mm pistols.

Home defense should begin with an alarm system. No one should show up at your bedroom door unannounced. There are many inexpensive systems that sound alarms whenever a door or window is breached. Most times this alone will scare off an intruder, and give you time to set up a defensive posture.

Great video. I'm 62, big guy, but have developed terrible autheritis in my wrists. I can still shoot my 9 mm, 357 and 38 but after 10 rounds my wrists start hurting and swelling, even with wrist strap glove. I've moved to 22lr so I can practice with 50-100 rounds twice a week with no pain. Better to hit with 22 than miss with 9mm.

Personally, I am SO much more accurate and faster with a .22LR snubby than any centerfire handgun. And add in all the other rimfire benefits and it's a no brainer that I'm better served and protected by my laser guided Ruger LCR22.

i agree and i disagree about the 22LR, in an autoloader pistol or rifle i believe its(22) ok, in a bolt or lever not so much, in a pump rifle doable with practice, in a revolver depends on how easy and smoothly the double action pulls (6 to 10 misses don't count). but all bets are off if they are shooting at you with anything so then it becomes what you are most comfortable and proficient with. a centerfire pistol is harder to control if your upset and rattled. in close quarters a "cold steel gurka kukuri" will do an unbelievable amount of damage compared to a 44 mag 45acp or 357 mag. one swipe can take off an arm or even a head, a real hard strong swing will take off a leg or cut them in two, sorry this is off subject. but a 22 is better than nothing, no one wants to get shot.... even with a 22

Hi, just happened on your video.
I have been concealed carrying for about 45 years.
The first 15 or 16 I only carried a snub nosed Charter arms pathfinder
chambered in 22. With the chance of a bad primer I could just pull the trigger again
If needed. I would never feel under armed with a 22 revolver.
I really enjoyed your video and will look for more of them.
Please keep at it. You give a common sense approach to concealed carrying.

Good video. I saw first hand the results a single 22LR to the human head many years ago. The shot entered the forehead dead centre just above the eyebrows. This is a quite thick part of the skull. The bullet traversed the brain and came to rest at the back of the skull in the ocipital region (as viewed on the CAT scan). It did not exit the skull. Needless to say the individual did not recover. With good shot placement it works.

Good rundown on the basic pros and cons of a carry gun decision. This focuses on carrying a 22 for defense and doesn't mention the home defense aspect with a 22 rifle/carbine. The longer barrel length of a rifle improves the performance of a 22 enough IMO, to push it into a very credible category for home defense. As part of a home defense system that may include other firearms, even more so. Real life occurrences prove that good, bad or indifferent, 22 LR rifles are used successfully to defend lives.

I live in what I would call a safe suburban neighborhood but I've had to pull a gun twice to end to a situation that could've gone 2 ways. In both cases I had center fires and I put a laser sight on someone's chest. Without ever firing a shot the threat was immediately gone, and by "immediately" I mean they were hauling ass..
I have a 12 year old daughter that has recently started staying at home by herself and as an over protective dad It makes me very nervous. With that being said I decided it was time for her to learn to handle a firearm.
I have a fairly extensive gun collection but the 22lr was a simple choice for her age and size. I don't care how big and bad you are, even a 22lr with proper placement will bring you to your knees, if it doesn't kill you then someone will be wiping the drool off chin for the rest of your life. After taking her out shooting I added a laser sight and have it dialed in at 20yards. If anything ever happens hopefully the laser will end the situation and deter the criminal, but if not she knows what she has to do.... put the laser dot right in the middle of their face and pull the trigger... I will not allow my self to be one of those parents wishing I would've done something different and I refuse to sugar coat it.
    I truly appreciate your video.
I pray to god my daughter never has to use a firearm for protection but you never know what problems may come up...as she gets older the caliber will continue to go up. I'm glad I finally posted my statement because have to know my child has some sort of advantage just incase some mother fucker would ever decide that my door was the one they're gonna kick in and I'm not there to protect her... My house has security cameras but a camera won't stop anybody.

I think you covered pretty much everything. It was a great informational video, and very professionally approached.
Edited part.. I use a Taurus g2c as my edc, but my home defense rigs are 2 cheaper 22lr rifles that I've ran 4500, and 2000 rounds thru with minimal failures.
The rossi rs22 (2000 rounds) just runs smoothly.. No new parts yet. The other being the savage model 64 (4500 rounds). About 8 500 round bulk packs of ammunition later needed a new magazine. After the new mag another 500 brick no proplem.......
For those who want to look into cheaper options.

The police use flash/bang grenades to disorientate people. The same effect occurs when firing a large caliber in an enclosed area. Multiple accurate shots will be very difficult. This is not a problem with 22lr. Shot placement is key and easy to do with 22lr. Over penetration is also a serious concern. I have an 8 shot Ruger LCRevolver that is reliable with any 22 ammo.

I keep the 22lr by the bed.
1: ammo cost to practice? 22lr by far cheapest. 2: reliability? CCI Minimag or Stingers. 3: compact
People always down the 22lr as a HD round. the thing is...practice, if you own a firearm you should practice with it until it becomes an extension of your body anyway. Shot placement is key..therefore practice, thats how you get good at shot placement. There is nothing wrong with 22lr as a defensive round if you have dedicated the time and effort to practice. i have other firearms (556, 12ga, 9mm) but i prefer the 22lr. Through much practice/range time i have become very efficeint/proficeint with all of my firearms, but when it comes down to it the first one ill pick up in a HD situation is one of my 22lrs.

Ok I had a 22 LA browning buckmark and it is a pretty decent size pistol so 22 doesn't necessarily has to be small plus in a closed environment such as your house the sound of a 22 is better suppressed meaning you can defend yourself without waking up the neighborhood, one more thing with 22 you don't have to worry about killing the person next room cuz there's no over penetration, and last but not least any bullet no matter the size or caliber will still pierce a hole in any person

Excellent video. I agree with 99% of the points you make, especially the one on STOP THE THREAT. There are too many Dirty Harry Rambos out there 18:32 that look down their noses at any caliber that’s smaller than a 9mm. Just by pulling your handgun may be enough to stop the threat. If you have to shoot, it’s all about shots on target. The last thing you want to do if spray a neighborhood with heavy caliber, center fire ammo, especially with adrenaline flowing. STOP THE THREAT AND SHOTS ON TARGET. I carry a Walther PPK/S or a Ruger SR22. For home defense it’s a 1911 .45acp; then I don’t worry about shooting in public. Really enjoyed the video.

I trust the .22lr for self defense. It's actually my gun of choice over my 9mm and .38...
I have quite afew handguns and can shoot them all well. But the .22lr is my favorite to shoot. Its small, has no recoil and the handgun that i have is very accurate...
The size of the .22 makes alot of people not want to carry it, As if it isn't a large enough caliber.
It's plenty large enough to do damage and kill.. Larger caliber ammo is more expensive also, and unless you have a good income not many people can afford to shoot 100-200 rounds while target shooting. Its hard to get good with a gun that you hardly ever shoot because of the price of ammo. .22lr you can shoot all day and teach yourself to be accurate with it... I've also heard people talk about .22lr ammo not going off all of the time, but i've actually had more of my higher caliber ammo not go off than i have with the .22lr ammo.
For the average person, the .22lr is all that a person needs for self defense. That is unless you are planning on going full Rambo and bad guys jumping from roof tops every time that you try to go to Mcdonalds to get something to eat... Which is very unlikely. And on a side note, If someone is living in a place that has so much crime that you have to carry twin .44mags, then you probably need to move, Like yesterday.

Every gun advisor never talks about the taking of a firearm. If you are involved with a hand gun. The hand gun will be most of the time taken by law enforcement. It becomes evidence. Getting it back can be more challenging than going and buying another one. Consider what you use and what will be taken away. Another factor that is very hard to train for is fear at the moment you are aware you need to protect yourself. Your blood pressure goes up, you are excited you can make mistakes. You can get so lost in the moment you can’t remember your address or your spouses name, let alone where either the keys are or the combo to the gun safe. There will be no long range distance in self defense. When confronted it will take place with 25- 30 feet, about 7-8 yards. What comes after is the attorneys, court case, reports, law suits etc...you can be justified in everything that takes place except for the legal issues, law suits that could take years to pay $$$. That what we all need to be prepared for in defending no matter what kind of weapon is used......a 22 cal is least destructive it is also known as the assassins choice of caliber

One of my go-to HD weapons is a 10/22 with a 110-round GSG drum mag filled with Aguila Interceptor HP's. These fly out of the rifle's 18.5" barrel at 1470 fps with a muzzle energy of 192 or basically the same as CCI Stingers but with a bigger bullet (40 gr. vs 32 gr.) and normal-length casing. The wound channels they produce in ballistic gel are pretty darn impressive.
Since it only takes one well-placed head shot to kill someone, with 110 rounds on tap, there's a pretty good chance that it's going to turn a perp's head into Swiss cheese.

Great video. A little more could be stressed on the mindset when using a 22Lr... Shooting to stop the threat. I am aware that I will likely not get a one shot stop with my 22 pistol. The mindset has to embrace the follow through of continuing to shoot and stay in the fight until the threat has ceased, left the area, or you yourself have been able to get away from that threat. You have touched very well on the pro's and con's of why a 22Lr can and will work as a defense tool. I have carried a 22 handgun more frequently than my centerfire's. I'm comfortable with the mindset and its abilities to get the job done when the chips are down.

Ease of carry and ease shooting make it more comfortable and you are more likely to carry it everywhere. Number of rounds isn't really as important, in a 7 yard defensive situation you're not getting off 11+. Now if you're the aggressor, no, 22 isn't acceptable. But as a belly gun, 10 foot confrontation, I'll take the 22. Easier to pull, more consistent shots, extension of your arm.

all pistols are equally deadly, and equally effective when used as a deterrent. When you shoot a person with any pistol, there is a 2-3 % variance in the deadliness, or effectiveness of the gun, and it is from 31% to 34%. Sometimes you miss, sometimes the bad guy runs away.
Long Guns, rifles and shotguns, are also all the same, and they are about 62 to 65% effective.
While it seems a little weird to say a .22 is just as good as a .460 Rowland, but it is actually true. If you use a .22, because shot placement is the most critical variable, use a 8 shot Ruger LCR, and empty the cylinder into the bad guys head, all 8 shots.

If the ammo does not fire will it still eject from the gun or does it typically jam the gun? I watched another video and the guy said not to use the 22LR as self-defense because they can jam easier and that the centerfire is much more reliable. Also, you made reference to the 'ballistics' as being a con for the 22LR. Do you mean the size of the bullet? Thank you. Joe

I can show you why its worthless for S/D. the minimum is the .22 magnum. Like it or not the .22lr jst does NOT create a large enough wound channel/blood loss. and THIS is the bottom line. You want sound deterrent? .22 Magnum again. Sorry but .22LR is essentially a plinking/small game toy. Look to the .22 magnum or even a .32 Federal which will allow use of the .32 S&W, 32H&R magnum and the native .32 Federal'magnum'

The biggest problem with this caliber is lack of controlled expansion. It's not a good self defense round because not only will it go through "the bad guy" but it will most likely keep going on through the innocent bystander behind "the bad guy" as well. Unless there comes a breakthrough bullet technology for this round that expands and stops in "the bad guy", I will absolutely NOT use this round for self defense carry.

My big problem I have with ppl carrying anything bigger than a .22 for self defense is this, missed shots. If you miss the person that is the threat, and y'all are around other people would you rather have a .22 accidentally hit a potential victim or a .45 or a 9mm? See, a lot of times it's men's fucking ego that want a bigger round, but .22 is a viable self defense weapon for sure in my book if you got a reliable gun and ammo brand that you know and have shot that will shoot effectively when the time comes.

While 9mm and a 45 are more deadly indeed, a 22lr is easy to shoot (Which matters), it's easy to get multiple shot bursts accurately due to the low recoil, lower risk of over penetration etc. It is definitely a viable option for home owners.
22lr is also A LOT cheaper to train with and be profficient with than any other caliber and end of the day, training is what saves your life.

Buy the most practical gun you feel comfortable with, power vs practicality. If you're a young lady in an evening dress it might not be practical to carry a S&W .460 XVR, whereas you might be able to conceal a .22 auto. Also, maybe it would take you a year to save up for a powerful, high quality handgun. That's a year that you don't have a gun. So, maybe it would be smart to buy something like a .22 which you might be able to afford much sooner. THEN save up for that gun you REALLY want.
Learn to use your gun safely and effectively. If you have kids in your home, it might be wise to teach them some gun safety, and KEEP IT AWAY from the kids unless you're there to supervise.
Carry it with you, on your person, at all times or whenever possible. Many people keep a gun in their cars. But what good does a gun in your car do when you're accosted in the parking lot on the way to or from your car? You're more likely to be attacked while walking to or from your car than in any other place. Keep your gun on your person, and carry it in such a way that it's easy to get to.

I knew a guy who was shot with a .22LR while he was working on his house. He felt something he thought was a bad wasp sting in the middle of his back. He tried climbing down the ladder but passed out as he got to the bottom. Recovering, he managed to reach a phone and call for help. Then he passed out again and woke up in a hospital. The doctor told him he'd been shot by a .22LR and that he'd come "this close" to dying. The police found the spot where two boys had stopped briefly to shoot a .22LR pistol. They did a chart from where the gun had been fired and it was (are you ready?) just over a mile away! They hadn't tried to hit him as they couldn't have even seen him from that distance. The police found the shell casings, but never located the boys, and I'm glad they didn't. These lousy states outlaw anywhere a person can shoot, so if someone wants to fire their gun --- say, to test fire it --- they can't. So I'm very sympathetic to those who shoot stop signs and shoot in places they shouldn't.
The point of the story is that a round (a CCI Mini-Mag), probably fired from a Ruger Mark-series pistol, can almost kill a person from a frickin' mile away! People who underestimate the power of a .22LR, go right ahead and underestimate! With 9-10 shots from a Ruger Mark -series pistol, I think I can put down King Kong on steroids. Yeah, I've heard the stories about people taking hits with multiple .38 Spc rounds and living to wreak havoc on others, but .38 rounds go in and go out. A .22LR tends to stay in the body. And when they hit one after another, wham! wham! wham!, I don't think many people can take it, especially when there's one or two to the head. I'll take a .22LR any day for self defense.

  • @flashspyder

I really like this well thought out video. I have shot a long time. I am well into being a senior citizen. I need glasses. I really can no longer fire one-handed with .44 mag, and not well even with a .40 or 9mm. So I think of home self defense. I am awakened and I am in bed, I grab my firearm. I am not wearing glasses or hearing protection (nor is my wife). I am flat on my back using one hand to shoot, the other to hold myself in a sitting position. I do keep two handguns -- a .40 Glock like you carry (and I carry), and a Ruger Mark III Hunter (target pistol essentially with thread barrel) -- suppressed. At "in-house distances" (mean 5-10 yards where almost all self-defense gun fight occur) I can place in the X ring with one had easily (laser does not hurt, zeroed at 7 yards). If I fire the .40 in my bedroom my wife and I will suffer permanent hearing damage up to, and including, deafness. Just tactically if you take out one bad guy but can no longer hear ... what about other bad guys in the house? If I get the job done with the .22 great. I use non-hollow point high velocity rounds that will penetrate 13" in gel as a rule (CCI mini-mags are good as are Eley Target Ammo -- both will go through a 6-pack lined up at 10 yards easily -- make it cheap soda :-) ). Two to the gut, two to the chest, two to the face, fight over. And easy to do -- shot placement even with one hand is excellent. But this is -- as you you said -- based on me and my abilities. 40 years ago I would have done the same ... with a .357 magnum and been to dumb to know I'd be deaf the rest of my life. Yes -- if the house if flooded with bad guys and I get my glasses on and get standing I'll probably switch to the .40 which two hand I do shoot pretty well. So it is not a one or the other -- I have both options. I'd like to get it done and still hear, and I think I can do that better with the .22 -- you also pointed out that shooting 500 rounds of .357 and you'll be hurting. So true now. I won't shoot more than 6 rounds of .44 mag or 1-2 magazines of 10mm -- I'm hurting by then. I will shoot 50 rounds a week (in one sitting) with the .40 ... and 2-400 .22 rounds a week in the same sitting. And the .40 is what beats me up. But that is what I usually carry. Occasionally I carry a Beretta .22 mouse gun -- when it is 115 degrees out and I am in a venue of shorts and t-shirts. Or when wearing a tux at a wedding. Or other times when you need something that small to be able to carry. Not ideal. So this video is exactly right -- skill level, age, ability, eye sight, situation, practice (includes cost AND beating up) -- all factor in. There is no such thing as knock down power when you miss the target. The reason for two to the gut first -- they will penetrate and cause bleeding and pain. Perhaps not so much in the chest. And the head -- better be from upper lip to top of eyes. So those gut shots may not be ideal -- but they will start the process of stopping the opponent pretty well I suspect.

If you are going to use 22 get one with a high round count !! My two best are a Beretta M9A1-22 it holds 15+1 and the Walther PPQ M2-22 holds 12+1 these guns will shoot any brand of ammo reliability, but stay away from Winchester cause their 22 ammo is absolute crap, shit, lousy, stuff you hope your enemy is using! The quality control is nonexistent at best stick with CCI if you can. ..........after say all that I have found Winchester brand in other calibers to work extremely well, ......just stay away from their .22

While I do prefer a shotgun for my home defense needs I would not be too upset if the only gun I had was the Marlin Model 60 that I've hunted with for years and shot thousands of rounds through. Handling that gun is second nature to me and 16 rounds of CCI Minimags flying at somebody on the other side of the room is going to put them down for sure

Thanks for this, I purchased a Ruger SR22 a year ago after a stolen car was abandoned in front of my home. I have a bad shoulder and was worried I wouldn't be able to safely manage a larger caliber. I have been taking training classes & going to the range at least 3 times a month. I fell in love with the SR22's accuracy even at longer distances. After trying different 22LR ammo, I've come to think there is no better 22LR than CCI mini mag. True the HP won't open unless it hits a solid, but the CCI mini mag FMJ does a nice tumble in jell. There are video ballistic tests for the mini mag HP, FMJ, Valositor & stinger.

I read a study of gunshot victims that concluded that multiple bullet wounds is statistically more dangerous then a single bullet wound of any caliber... So multiple 22 hits is better than a single hit of a larger round

You come in my abode, all heck will rain rain down if you seek to do me harm. But if out and about, just any round I have I’ve trained with is a sufficient. All rounds can fail. Just bringing a gun into the situation shifts the encounter.

Shot placement is key. 22lr mouse gun in your pocket, two shots in the head/face or two shots in the heart and its goodnight. No recoil, small, light but very effective.

.22 LR has put a lot of people in the ground and a lot of food on the table. Point is you can find pros and cons about everything in life. If you choose.22 to defend yourself then congratulations you made a decision. If you’re still on the fence as to what caliber to use to defend yourself then McDonald’s drive thru must be rough on you.

I carry 9s and .40s and .45s but the one I carry the most is my .22 why ? Simple it is small and compact and will fit in my pocket if need be and the gun that is with you is the one you use.i think people in general think they are stronger and better able to deal with pain than they really can. A .22 will kill you this isn't a guess it happens at the time but most people think they are somehow different than others. .22 also suffer from capitalism the round is cheap and is really all you need to kill a human since our skin is not very thick. We also have a speed limit of 70 mph and most cars go far beyond 70mph we don't need it but most people must have it.

Excellent Video I get a kick out of some of these people who think you got to have these tactical weapons with very expensive rounds and do combat training for self defense just use your head and practice reasonably with any caliber and number one rule be aware of your surroundings and don’t put yourself in a situation you can’t get out of

Folks get killed every day by some yahoo who never fired a gun before in their life...we go to the range weekly, but some yahoo letting off a round of whatever in his backyard can put my lights out that quick...and even the most modern tacticool body armor wearing .44 magnums on both hips types are not immune to the far away stray bullet falling out of the sky...

Someone once asked, what is the best camera to carry for taking photographs? The answer is the same as the answer for guns for self-defense. The best gun for self-defense is the gun you have immediate access to. Better a 22LR in hand, than a 9mm locked away in a safe or in the trunk of your car. You don't pass up the shot or not defend yourself simply because you simply don't have the right gun with you.

Let's be REAL for a minute... I've seen people who have owned firearms for 15+ years and have a commensurate amount of range time, who cannot pull off a reliably accurate double dap with 9mm from the draw... and that is standing at a range taking their cotton pick'n time to "get ready" for the challenge. On the flip side... I've had new shooters I've taken to the range maybe a dozen times, who can draw and drop an entire mag of 22lr, as fast as they can pull the trigger, and score every shot at 10yds on a standard 25yd slow fire target. So when we are talking ballistics... What has better ballistics, 1 round of choose your favorite manly centerfire handgun caliber... or 10 rounds of 22lr? Make that a moving target... and your comparison might be more like 0 : 5... pretty damn obvious which is better then.
More to the point... fragile egos sell a LOT of high caliber handguns to people that think numbers will protect them over proficiency.

    • @axemanners6643
      @axemanners6643 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You shouldn't be teaching "NEW SHOOTERS" to "DRAW AND DROP AN ENTIRE MAG"....of anything. This is dangerous and shows that you're irresponsible and don't know WTF you're talking about.

    • @judgesfiveeight
      @judgesfiveeight 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@axemanners6643 Calm down man... these guys were not THAT new. New to "real world" training.. as in, not training for a bad guy that is a 25yrd slow fire target. Like a lot of people do for years and then fancy themselves an "experienced shooter". 6-10 rounds of .22lr in a controlled setting is not reckless. And the instructor (not me) had this done in stages... I'm talking at the point that the draw is still being practiced slow, methodical, staged, even unloaded. I'll give you this, "as fast as they can pull the trigger" may be somewhat hyperbole... but it doesn't invalidate my point.

@@judgesfiveeight Karen, I only typed like 3 sentences so you're the one who needs calming down. If your points aren't invalidated, then why don't Cops carry .22LR?

    • @judgesfiveeight

@@axemanners6643 Karen...? Like I said... just chill man, I'm not your enemy. We can have different opinions without slighting one another, can't we? Save that piss and vinegar for the folks trying to take your .45 and my .22, please.
On the topic of cops vs civilians and firearms... COPS often need to apprehend bad guys, and let's face it, have a MUCH higher chance of encountering situations requiring "stopping power" in order to protect other lives not just their own. They are also "geared out" so as to have a much easier time carrying tools to do just that.
Me... I'm much more likely to A) never encounter a situation that justifies or requires my use of deadly force (God willing) or B) make someone decide I'm not worth it and "get away".
The use cases, percentage wise, ARE very different.
That said... I did carry a 9mm for 8 years.

    • @axemanners6643
      @axemanners6643 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@judgesfiveeight (1) So you say that COPS' have higher chances of encounters, thus needing "STOPPING POWER" which is why they don't carry .22LR. You just admitted that .22LR is lacking of "STOPPING POWER". (2) Your saying that COPS need to "protect other lives not just their own", admits that .22LR is lacking for the protection of the Individual Citizen as well as their loved ones. (3) Cops "GEARED OUT"....what gear do they have that's so special, in order to carry a 9MM vs. a .22LR? Just a tactical belt & holster. You can buy a better belt & better holster than what the Cops have. Or if you don't want to carry a big tactical belt, then just a decent holster & a regular belt. If anything, Cops would love carrying something much smaller & lighter (considering all the other gear they must carry + body armor, etc.) such as a .22LR; if it wasn't garbage for SD. This proves that Cops care more about their lives than you do yours. (4) You must think that people would all be scared of you if you'd just show them your gun. This is wrong. There are plenty of REAL videos online showing aggressors & criminals, not fearing a gun pointed at them. (5) You carried a 9MM for 8 years? I carried a 9MM for over 20 years and up to this day. You never shot anyone, neither have I. But it's called assessing risks & you chose the weakest round to carry should that 1 in a million chance happens. Just like choosing between a safe/sturdy German car vs. one made in China; I wouldn't want increase significantly, the risks to my life nor my family just b/c I drive much less than the average Taxi driver who are more exposed to possible dangers.

I use a.22 for home defense so I don't over penetrate and put a hole in my 72" TV. I won't be accused of excessive force be cause it is only a.22.
I can clean up with a paper towel instead of a mop and shovel. I will still be able to hear and at night, I won't be blinded by muzzle flash. Besides, burglars are lazy and easy to kill or they would get a job.😀
