    I've tried so many variations of vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, high carb, etc. imho, carnivore is head & shoulders above the rest!! No stomach issues. Great energy. Consistent muscle & strength gains. Consistent recovery! No body aches! Steak, eggs, fat, & water! Keeping it simple 💯

    Awesome information! Been keto for a while and just trying carnivore but after 2 weeks feeling that I want some fruit/veg/ juice. Really interesting to hear that Vince recommended varying the diets for different goals and that these diets are not meant to be long term! I always thought that vegan has its purples but not long term and that carnivore should probably not be used indefinitely so this is really timely for me and fantastic to hear. Many thanks.

    Your videos including this one are very well researched. I believe that you did clear up some misunderstandings on Vince Gironda's knowledge of training and especially nutrition. I never realized Gironda had so many specific diet plans but it does make sense because there are so many different needs and goals involved. There is a lot of practical and interesting information in this video. Gironda seems to have been a very intelligent man especially when it came to all aspects of bodybuilding.

    ...fun fact: no diet works the same on every one. In my humblest opinion, with all due respect to Mr. Gironda, clean eating(whole foods) more times than not. Avoid processed foods. Water should be ur number one bev.....train hard, rest, repeat. It's really scary that the food isn't the same quality these days, so, unless ur a farmer, and can grow all ur food....just be wise, train hard and treat ur body better than u treat ur car. YOU ARE THE MACHINE, WE ALL HAVE A LIL VINCE IN US!!!💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿 TRAIN HARD, EAT WELL.

      I believe the back-in-the-day ginger ale’s real sugar caused an insulin release which accentuated the uptake of the protein in the heavy whipping cream. And the beneficial fat contained therein the latter went along for the ride. Thus the weight gain, which I can attest was mostly muscle.

    Steak & eggs sounds a lot like the carnivore diet that's all the rage now. See Shawn Baker (very fit guy in his 50s), Paul Saladino, etc. For them, it's year-round and not maintenance, though.

    • @TheJohn_River
      @TheJohn_River 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      C Herrera same. I’ve been doing carnivore for six months now and I’ve never felt better! Along with raw milk and plenty of liver of course, i feel almost super human lol. I’ve also noticed that i recover a lot quicker now, allowing me to workout everyday without as much fatigue

    • @TheJohn_River
      @TheJohn_River 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Captain America America oh but i do study and apply his principles! But you also gotta understand that your ability to recover is the most important principle of them all. Yes vince g was a genius but so was Leroy Colbert who stressed the importance of recovery. The growth and repair of muscle happens during your recovery NOT during exercise. This is why steroids are so effective, they allow you to recover at wolverine speed therefore allowing you to workout more frequently and build muscle faster. SO since I’m noticing that i’m recovering faster through the carnivore diet, it only makes sense to train more frequently. So far it’s working, no platos or injuries yet knock on wood!

    • @TheJohn_River
      @TheJohn_River 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Pongly Spongly nope! No fruits or veggies at all (and no I don’t trouble pooping without fiber lol) like C Herrera said dr Shawn baker and dr paul saladino are great for more info. I would also recommend dr ken berry and dr natasha campbell mcbride. As for sourcing i get all my grass fed meat and milk from a local farm here in Tennessee. But you could try butcherbox.com and grasslandbeef.com . Grassland has a ton of organs and beef fat for sell too. And for an extra boost i supplement desiccated organs from ancestral supplements on amazon. GREAT STUFF and cheaper and cleaner than cooking with organs. Seriously if you do enough research on organs you’ll find that there are WAY more bio available nutrients in organs than in any fruits or vegies. Liver, kidneys, and brain are the real superfoods not kail and goji berries lol

    Hey there bookworms. Ive been utilizing carb backloading diet protocols to add strength and weight with very little to no fat gain by going ketogenic meat based for the days I dont train and having 2-400 grams of high GI carbs from post workout until bedtime. Kinda like steak and eggs diet but targeted carb refeeds only post workout due to hormones and insulin sensitivity after intense muscle contraction. Its awesome to feel great while recomping and building strength each workout. I also train using heavy compound lifts and whole body workouts every 72 hrs. Im 43 so recovery is not a great as when I was 30. Your thoughts? Love your videos and all the old school lifters

    The lacto-ovo vegetarian diet works for fat loss because the veggies have so few calories and take longer to move through the digestive system. Therefore, it's easy to eat below maintenance calories to lose fat. Nothing special beyond calories in versus calories out for that bit.

    I worked with and knew Eric Estrada while he was being trained by Vince. Talk about a character, his gym was a whole in the wall , a mishmash of dirty carpet really old equipment, a few mirrors and cheesy panelling on the walls. Eric was training for a tv movie where he was a boxer,(called Honey Boy), so Gironda had him on a diet of a half a can of campbells tomato soup per meal. Brutal, but I just had to laugh at the whole thing. At that time Vince was always walking around in those ratty old sweats, a weight belt and a thick long sleeved shirt. He once threw Sly Stallone out of his gym for stopping his workout then disrobing and posing in front of a few mirrors. What a crack up.

A personal friend(not just a temp-employee) of Vince I use to talk to on the phone and the ONLY one who was given permission to reproduce Vince's "work" at the time told me Vince died of a broken heard(that's really sad). "Either-Or" , Vince was broken hearted and depressed because the loss. I wouldn't blame him "if" he did turn to drinking.
    You said in a previous video that Vince sold the gym. I never once heard this. I was always under the impression it shut down lack of funds. How well does the "guy" who claims to have worked for Vince know Vince? Was he working there when it close or supposedly sold?
    Maybe I'll find the number and see if Vince's good friend is still around. If he is...maybe he can shed some light on that story.
    It's been probably 7 or 8 years since I've talked to him.

      Daryl has two REALLY good comprehensive books on Vince and Ron is an endless book on Vince...his personal life and training methods.
      Neither of these guys were "after-thought trainers"....meaning someone who learned about Vince after his death by second hand info(tho , nothing wrong with that as long as it's correct , just rather hear from positively 1st-hand info first) Call Ron , learn 1st hand info.

    What about the cholesterol in the yolk X36?

    • @mdd1963
      @mdd1963 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cholesterol levels were measured on a fitness enthusiast before and after 3 months of using the ‘36 eggs per day’ routine..; ratios of good/bad cholesterol were actually improved after the egg diet.

    I was doing a little research and I saw that chicken breast has more protein than steak, would I be able to substitute chicken for steak in the steak and eggs diet? Or do I need to be eating steak? I only ask because chicken is much cheaper and better for the environment

    • @monikhushalpuri
      @monikhushalpuri ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you read this...chicken may have more protein but it's also less nutrient dense and very high in omega 6...I personally only eat chicken wings if I'm out at a nice steakhouse and get that as one of the apps, plus with beef you get natural creatine and more B vitamins and minerals than you would chicken

    Not trashing other types of diets because the body's reaction to nutritious stimuli varies from one individual to the next, but personally his diet of purely eggs and steaks (and add in some cottage cheese) adjusted to a person's specific somatype, weight, etc. just freaking works for building muscles.

      @@mihai4815Incorrect on so many levels, who told you that? Was it the same scientists that said saw eggs will give salmonella? You CAN build muscles with calories surplus with a pure protein diet... Only proteins are really needed to build muscles.

      @@mihai4815 I don't need to...i build muscles just using his plan. You need to do more research...carbohydrates are not needed at all to build muscles...as long as you eat more calories than needed and as long as the protein intake is equivalent to per pound body weight with some healthy fat, you should build muscles...the building block for muscles are proteins not carbohydrates.
      Many old school body builders succesfully used a diet with just proteins and healthy fats to build muscles.
      Why don't you Google to see how many doctors said you need carbs to build muscles and then do the same for doctors who said you don't need carbs? I'm sure opinions vary among doctors...

And no, i am not talking about just internet people, i am talking about MD saying you don't need it...So if I can get you a medical doctor (MD) who said you do not need carbs to build muscles, then it is not consensus, right? And your point is pointless, right?
      Here: "Do you need carbs to build muscles?" reviewed and approved by Dr. Larry Burchett. Note 1st paragraph says carbs are a "minor components"...compared to proteins.
      Carbs will give you energy, but you do not need it to build muscles. And it does not defy physics to build muscles with just protein and fat consumption...

      @@mihai4815 You said it defies the law of physics, and I just proved you wrong...I don't need to list the bodybuilders because this Keto diet has already proven to work for so many people...The central point of the argument is do you need carbs to build muscles, you don't. Old school bodybuilders ate shitloads of protein, very few carbs...
      Check the definition of "minor", it does not confirm what you said. Like not at all.
