Hi guys! Here is my detailed breakdown on Jorginho. This was an enormous amount of work so I'd be glad if you left a thumbs up and subscribed :) It was originally edited for my show Le Labo on the French website UltimoDiez: th-cam.com/video/9I1ZqFtqL2o/w-d-xo.html ultimodiez.fr/ As usual: you can support the channel on Patreon, www.patreon.com/PiotrFoot (fair way to support content creator) TWITTER: twitter.com/PiotrFoot
He’s an absolute nightmare for players to press its almost like watching busquets. He’s so clever, intelligent, crisp with his passing. He only takes one or two touches before he releases the ball before players are about to press him dat there is just no point in pressing him. Even when he is man marked he always finds a way to set the tempo and ruin the opponents game plan. He’s just superb. Always looking over his shoulder and always aware of where the opponents and his teammates are. He’s an absolute nightmare for opponents.
@Phillip Lumsden i'm not saying he's bad just that he can Only playin (at High levels) in a possession team. I watch him playin since he played with Hellas Verona, he's very good technically but nothing special. His best asset is awareness, alongside vision, that's why he does complete so many passes. He knows how and where to move himself on the pitch and he's great at movin the ball around. But he just does his best in a possession team which do control the ball and the match (Napoli with Sarri, Man City and Barca) otherwise he struggles. Like i said he was mediocre with Benitez and with NT too. Anyway he's not that good of a diribbler, like Jason said he always release the bast fast and usually play with Only 1/2 touches, he rarely dribble opponents.
Yes he is almost like busquets they call him the Italian busquets for a reason, still I would say he is yet to reach the busquets level but otherwise he has been a great signing for us.
Wow ,haven't even finished the video yet but I have to say another top analysis, seems like Chelsea are the dark horse's of the EPL this season. You should really look into becoming a technical director at a lower level club(e.g Spanish 2nd division) and then work your way up. Your portfolio is your TH-cam channel and it's very impressive, you have a natural gift to see patterns and tactics that would slip by the eye of casual viewers like me. Again well done 👍.
... because everyone thinks the league this year is a two horse race between liv and city, people underestimate Chelsea's chances to win , remember they don't have the distraction of champions league either
Jorginho is in incredible. I knew he was special but watching your videos always opens my eyes a little more and make me see things I didn’t know were there
clearly sarri's instruction at the moment is 'look at jorginho and he'll tell you where to stand/pass' because i've never seen a midfielder command this much authority on a team before. good point at 8:58, here's hoping he doesn't get injured for a few months so other players can get better at this type of play because he's the one completely controlling the team shape & direction right now.
I do think that maybe Kovacic could stand in. Hes got a good footballing head and a great pass. Barkley can happily cover for Kovacic. Or at a push Cescy and get Kante to have his back
Chewing Tooons he does Kovacic but changes the tactics . Kovacic great at runs with the ball and quick play and can win duels Jorginho less touches to make pin point passes and his tempo control I think makes him the guy for that role
Oh yes of course Jorgi boy is our playmaker always. I'm saying if god forbid injuries then Mat K would be able to cover I think. After the other night I'm also liable to give Ampadu a shot in cup games. Maybe not against the Dippers tho as I want to put out a strong team against them each of the times we play them. I know they will try to.
the discussed topic at 3:58 is what happened in our europa league game against PAOK. rudiger passed to morata who gave a quick pass to jorginho who then bypassed the entire midfield by a pass to barkley whose touch gave him space which he then fed to willian who was able to score. great analysis man!!!!
You answered my request for a video on this position, I know you have vids on other registas such as paredes (probably not how you spell it) and on Pirlo but he is the most modern out of those two( I'm probably wrong) but great video as always
What are your thoughts on a 4-2-3-1 formation with Kante playing deeper?Great vid by the way.Glad to see a youtuber whose analytical skills are so precise.I am a big fan of Jorginho and I loved this tactical breakdown.Keep up with the excellent content.
I m not saying that Jorginho cannot defend, but it's more like Kante's natural role is to sit deeper and protect the space between the defense and midfield. Attacking doesn't suit him as much. His per game tackle average has decreased.
Really great video. I find you just a few weeks ago and I cant get enough of your analysis and your new stuff is far better than your old ( your old was also good though). I did not know jorginho before he moved to chelsea, but man is he good. His one touch passes are insane. He is so quick in his thinking. Never holds the ball longer than he needs to.
Thank god he has kante on his side... Otherwise it would have been a nightmare for him to defend and as well as to move the team around... Piotr what do you think about kantes new role as a RM, now we see him more upfront in the attacking role. Btw great analysics of him. Just love your work
I think Sarri should think of something else, when Chelsea lose the ball high their best defensive player is too high to cover, against good sides it could be dangerous
@@PiotrFoot yeah we also saw that against Bournemouth there was a chance when kante recoverd unbelieveable ground to save his teams where as jorginho was just jocking back
@@yashvardhansinghgohil1883 it tires you quickly. I know Kante has amazing stamina but imagine having to track back often in games throughout the season? Idk, might tire him out eventually
We have Kovacic to help there now too tho. But I do want to see Kante more as a B2B. Once we are pressing more as a single unit our defense will be much tighter. You know Sarri doesn't like a weak defece. Its why we wanted Rugani so much
He has mastered the skills like any good footballer does. I've seen so many players who are supposedly at the top of their sport but who cannot do basic skills well. These are receiving passes well. Being immune to pressing. Passing early and quickly when they have to. Having good awareness. Always knowing exactly what they are going to do next and whom to pass to. Passing accurately to others. Positioning themselves well. Being able to advance the ball further up the pitch. Knowing when to pass and when to dribble.
Watching Chelsea at the beginning of this season with Sarri is really amazing to me. This Chelsea brings out a brilliant football that I've never seen before. Maybe at last Abra could see the sexy football that he pursues for a long time. Though they still have a long way to go..
I like how all the "experts" are saying Jorgi isnt good cuz he cant defend well and all he does is pass Ignorance is Bliss Jorginho is incredibly vital to Sarriball. This video is one of many that showcases his importance. Great job
Martin Eden pirlo great long balls , creative passing and had a very good way of possession style dribbling . He knew how to use his dribble to create space under any circumstance if the pass wasn’t there . An all time great
The case of the modern regista. His comfortable way of playing with jogs and shadow marking makes himself available for all the season. He was like this at Napoli. Football is much faster in England though. A well oiled up Liverpool, a Tottenham or perhaps even a Bournemouth could be dangerous with him as he makes Kante track back like a mad man. I like watching players like him, incredibly smart.
Thats the fascinating thing about the role though, the entire team needs to be built around a regista, Pirlo at AC Milan being the best example. I mean Gattuso was literally a mad man.
People are saying fabregas could play this role better than him...we all know fabregas can't do some of these things it will take a little time for sarri to make him adapt to it ffs. Right now he's nowhere near jorginho
@@kingsleyikenna2873 I disagree. Conte tried playing fabregas in a regista role at the beginning of last season. He wanted to switch to a 3-5-2 formation. However because of fabregas deficiencies in a registas role. He modified the 3-5-2 and let him.play higher than kante.
Kingsley Ikenna I think Jorginho suits the style of passing and ball movement . He keeps the play moving and instructing players the movement I think fabregas at this stage of his career is still great with long passes and through balls but the rest might of the points that Jorginho brings might not be how he sees the game
As soon as he know better the attitudes, the qualities, the usual movements of the companions (for his role this is too much important), it will become much more central for Chelsea.
he is a regista but i don't think he needs to win those aerial duels, he is the one who starts the attack after his defenders have won those aerial duels. Yes defensively he lacks qualities but is the MVP for this Chelsea side. btw amazing job on the analysis. fan of your work.
Hi Bro great analyse! One point from me, about the covershadows, Jorginho does it intentionally, because he knows the space between him and his defenders is not so big and enough to stop the opponents.
He is slow for a reason: •Calms down the tempo of the game •Reduces the pressure •Creates enough space between him and the defense (in order to receive, pass or mark the ball) same with the attack
The team is definitely not anywhere near their best and as good as we started this campaign, I do sense we’ll eventually hit some bumps. Being pressed by a team who does it correctly will kill us. I assumed Bournemouth would’ve been a good test other than Arsenal but they showed too much respect. The tempo is no where near the real level of Sarriball. We tend to slow the game down and dribble too much. The only player who should carry the ball into space and towards goal is Hazard. The rest should emulate Jorginho. He is exactly how the team should be playing the ball. Know your options before you receive the ball and keep the ball moving as you get it. No more than two touches. We’ll eventually get there and once we do. Look out. This squad is very good and as we figure out our best 11, the rest of the league and possibly Europe should take us seriously again.

Johnny TightLips how tf can chelsea be a dark horse
... because everyone thinks the league this year is a two horse race between liv and city, people underestimate Chelsea's chances to win , remember they don't have the distraction of champions league either
... because people put Chelsea at fourth at best, below United spurs city and Liverpool? United being the competition for fourth

So much!! A drop in the ocean compared to allot thats being asked for right now. Look at Willian !! We turned down £65mill for him ffs!! Ridiculous!

Jorginho overrated af
His awareness and intelligence on the pitch is extremely high. Good for the premier league that he didn't go to Man City :)

Of course he does, did I say somewhere he didn't?
no you did not say that. What is the point of covershadows then? Did you point his weakness or what?
He is slow for a reason:
•Calms down the tempo of the game
•Reduces the pressure
•Creates enough space between him and the defense (in order to receive, pass or mark the ball) same with the attack
One of the best midfielder
