Transcript:
Jorginho started his career as a conventional central midfielder at Verona and played well enough to secure a move to Napoli, then managed by Rafael Benitez.
It was in his second season at Napoli where manager Maurzio Sarri converted him into a passing maestro, taking his game to a new level.
As Napoli improved, so did Jorginho. He regularly topped passing charts, making an unfathomable number of passes as Napoli choked teams with the ball.
Napoli’s consistency was built on dominating the ball and Jorginho was at the heart of it all, acting as the grand conductor of Sarri’s orchestra.
In the 2017/18 season, Jorginho’s unbelievable passing stats powered a Napoli team that earned 91 points and almost won the Serie A title.
Jorginho then accompanied manager Sarri to Chelsea, with the club seeking to replicate Napoli’s style in the Premier League.
While he hasn’t always been appreciated in England, he has still won the Europa League and Champions League while also making the finals of domestic cup competitions.
Love him or hate him, he has proven his ability on every stage he has been on.
Jorginho has 5 main strengths:

• Playing under pressure
• Reading of the game
• Durability
• An incredibly effective penalty technique
Strengths - Build-up passing
Jorginho is a passing machine, at times making more passes than opponent midfielders combined. His ability to keep the ball moving means opponent defences can never settle, therefore opening space for attackers to exploit.
Every build-up passing metric shows Jorginho as a player who sets the tempo for his team. Very few players can match him in terms of sheer volume of passes.
While Jorginho is not an assist machine like Fabregas, he is comfortable passing close to goal too.
Strengths - Ability to receive
Jorginho’s volume of passing is a result of his ability to receive and play under pressure. He is a step ahead of most opponents, remaining calm when pressed in order to get some space and time.
In terms of receiving the ball under pressure and moving it on, there are very few players as good as Jorginho statistically.
Strengths - Reading of the game
While Jorginho is not the most gifted athletically, he reads the game excellently, often popping up at the right place and time. This enables him to recover possession over stronger and faster players.
Jorginho’s reading of the game is reflected in his interceptions and ball-recoveries, often ranking among the very best in Europe in this regard.

Durability
Jorginho has remarkable durability. He has only missed 3 games due to injury in his career and none since 2015/16. 126.381 km in CL, 86.6 km in Euros
Jorginho also covered the most distance for both Chelsea’s and Italy’s European titles, again showing exceptional durability and stamina.
Strengths - Penalty technique
The flashiest aspect of Jorginho’s game is his hop skip and jump penalty technique. The technique has allowed him to score over 85% of his attempted penalties.
Despite his strengths, Jorginho is not perfect. He has 2 major weaknesses:
• Long-range passing
• Lack of athleticism
Weakness - Long-range passing
While Jorginho is an outstanding short passer his long-range passing is not great. He is prone to getting the weight of passes wrong, thereby making it hard for his teammates.
While his long-range passing stats are great, the eye test shows this is not a strength of his.
Weakness - Athleticism and 1v1 Defending
Jorginho’s lack of strength and speed is often a problem in the physical Premier League. He gets beaten by dribblers all too easily, leading to defensive issues for his team.

He’s definitely brought more positives… He’s helped us to win the Europa, UCL and Super Cup. In addition, he also helped the team to 2 FA cups finals and a Carabao Cup final. That’s a lot of finals for someone who has only been at the club for barely 3 seasons. He is also one of the most consistent players in the team. He rarely gets injured too

This video is brilliant! this should tell many haters that said Jorginho isn't "worthy" of winning the UEFA player of the year award.. yet they were so angry and delusional they didn't want to listen because they just hate him. and I bet the haters wouldn't watch all the clip because it will change there minds. a perfect analysis and very professional video.
I used to hate him but Thomas Tuchel really brought the best of him and turns him into a world class player. Now he's one of my fav players in chelsea especially when he's paired with kante

He has achieved what no English player has achieved since 1960, winning a trophy for his country, while also winning the best midfielder of the competition. Wondeful video mate! I have read many people think he is not good enough to be consider as one of the best, but in my opinion he is definetely such a great player. Jorginho is a regista. He is one of those players he is always available to receive the ball and move the ball quickly as well spread the play.

The ultimatum of his strong character for me is when Chelsea played under Sarri and in one particular match where he was booed coming on as sub, he just smiled and played the way he intended to without the boos affecting him. Man is the maestro of playing under pressure on and off the field.

He makes things easier for other players. There was one time in europa the critiques were too much and and sari decided to bench him , everything was going bad until sari substitute him in and the midfield became stable.

His levels over the past year have been phenomenal, and even before then he was a £60m transfer who had lived up to his price tag. Arguably best player for UCL and Euros winners. For me, a World class player is someone who could play for any top side in the World and not only not look out of place, but even improve it. Jorginho can do this. I would include him in the top 10, maybe even top 5 central midfielders in the World right now.

Hey all, just accept that this year is his year. He has been instrumental for the club n country, playing pivotal in the success. No other player 'this year' can be compared to him. Like some other have said here, nobody expected Chelsea n Italy to win it, but both did, which means there's something/someone that is key to it, and yes, it's Jorginho. Based on the analysis in the great video here, those who understand football will rank him as the top 5 midfielders at the moment. All teams and managers will want him in their midfield.
I listed down the other strong contender who lost to him and the reason:
Kante - Superb for Chelsea, but poor for France in the Euro and at times looks like a very mediocre player.
Lewa - Banging goals in the bundesliga (as expected). But nothing to shout in UCL or Euro this year. He has won the award last season, so yeah well deserved.
KDB - Key player for City in the EPL. That's all. (Outclassed by Jorginho in UCL n Euro 🤣)
For Fifa Best player award, the only contender for Jorginho is Messi, bcos he did really well in Copa America. We'll see...

Ppl are confused abt best player in the world vs most successful player of the season.
Jorginho's single biggest weakness if forced errors and giving away the ball (usually due to the lack of physical attributes) on the press. He's made so many mistakes that a compilation video can be made. His only strength is keeping a tempo and reading the game (or whatever attribute that's meant to refer to);

Great analysys, however I wouldn't call Jorginho's long passing a weakness. As he has shown in Hellas Verona and Napoli, he can be pretty good at long distance passing, but he never found that with Sarri's Chelsea due to lack of attacking partners able to make effective runs, nor with Tuchel due to the fact that he is not a running behind the back of defenders type of manager. Lampard brought, in my opinion, the best long passing season of Jorginho in the Prem

seriously ... this is what happens when football becomes all about numbers, J5 volume of passing is because he takes the balls and passes it backwards, he's slow and clumpsy and costed chelsea many goals against them, and of course he never gets injured, he never runes, he never challenges, and never catches up to the opponent, and then you take someone who's weaknesses are the core necessity of his role, he has to be strong to break the attack, and he has to make long passes, everyone can be great at short pases, that's the minimum requirement to make it to the premier league or most leagues these days, he slows the game way too much, frustrating, can't go back and help the defence, most of the time he has no idea what to do with the ball, most of his passes in the last season were back ... so i would rather have Kovacic over J5 any day, he's stronger, quicker, mare agile, better dribbling, helps defend ...
