    Ok - I watched this video after going through the power button combos. I saw 275 comments and 27K views. And I STILL thought this was the dumbest idea out there. I tried it once in the center and it did not work. Then I saw one comment from a user who said to try it in multiple locations. I did one center, one left, and one right. 15 compressions each. AND IT WORKED. If this guy predicts the World Series or the Presidential Election, I would go ALL IN...

      Thanks for this comment. The compressions in the center didn't work but doing it on the sides fixed it for some reason.

      I can't believe that this worked. I had my heat gun ready to see if disconnecting the battery would make a difference and decided to have a cuppa 1st. Looking at all sorts of solutions and found this. Amazing. Unreal. Brilliant. Thank you!!!!

    Just wow 😮 This actually worked. I went through a quick internet search and performed the button push sequences with no response before finding this on TH-cam. Your comments on the light on the power cord blinking let me know something was happening when I was pushing my power button, even though it didn't restart. It took 2 rounds of CPR to revive my unit. I had the surface emblem pop up after the first set, then it shut back off. Full revival after the second set. Thank you. This crazy method saved me a lot of time and frustration.

    I’m blown away my surface has been dead for over a year and I tried everything to fix it even took it into the repair shop and they said I had to buy a new one. Today I found this video and it actually worked! I had to do 15 compressions in each corner but it worked and I’m amazed. Thank you!!

      @@rebeccaayala3744 I would say press hard during CPR. Try and try again. If it turns back on, make sure the date and time are correct as to not cause some weird glitch. One of mine kept needing CPR over and over again until I changed the date and time to be accurate. I also went into my settings and disabled "sleep" mode so that my Surface is either on or off. It never sleeps and only powers off when I turn it off.
      Though if you can't get back to life again, I guess none of that matters.

    I had the exact issue since yesterday, single blink of the charging cable when trying to power on. I went through all the button sequences that I found online and they did nothing.
    I felt like an idiot doing CPR on my laptop, down on the carpet but this actually worked!
    As someone said, there's probably a loose connection somewhere and this method pushes it back in place.
    Bless your soul

  • @novak82
    @novak82 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I also felt like an idiot trying it, but, it works in a way. you don't need 15 press, you just need to find a spot on a screen that you have to press, as it has some loose connection that prevents it from switching on. Thanks man!

    Wow! Mine didn't want to turn on after two days! I had to buy a new one. I found your video and gave it a try. My husband and I tried different points and more than CPR it was gentle pressure in different points, simultaneously on both sides. And it TURNED ON!!! Thank you so much!!!

    Was skeptical. Can’t believe it actually worked. Thanks for the very helpful video. If it doesn’t work for someone their battery may be the issue and if that’s the case they’re stuck with nothing but a paper weight for it is damn near impossible to swap out the battery without breaking the thin lcd screen. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @HollywoodHornet I have tried the CPR compressions and they worked the 1st time and my Surface Pro 3 started, I opted to do a Restart /Update. But, black screen again. I have retried the CPR, three times but no good. I am going to let it rest overnight and try again tomorrow. And I will try the freezer method for 30 minutes.
    It is disappointing these Surfaces are failing for so many people, and it does seem software related with Updates but your hardware fix, disproves that....hmmm.....?!

    Desperate times call for desperate measures. When I tried every other thing I decided I had nothing to lose. Worst thing, I would be pitching the damn thing. I tried the CPR and it didn't work the first time. Put the Surface Pro 3 on my bed face down and pushed down on it in several places. A miracle happened. It started working again. I don't know why this works and frankly, don't care. It is working, that's what is important. Thank you, thank you.

    Hello, it worked for us so first of all thank you! There are a bit of complex files we're trying to upload to google drive but our issue is, we had it happen again and again. Right now we are setting to sleep, never plugged in and not plugged in and checking date and time. I assume this is a temporary fix because it may be an internal connection that weakens every time we do this and eventually it will not work. What's your experience with these updates ie sleep and date & time in fixing this permanently? We already bought a surface pro 8 but we hate to lose this device.

    • @HollywoodHornet
      @HollywoodHornet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After CPRing mine, I used the internet to set the date and time. I also made sure my Pro3 never goes to sleep. It is now either on or off. I haven't had any problems since. Not even the frequent Microsoft updates have bricked it, so my CPR remains undefeated. Your device isn't weakening with each CPR. It's probably getting stronger and eventually won't require the CPR anymore once done exactly the way it needs to maintain any would-be loose connection.

    I'm literally laughing myself to death here, alone in my house, amused at the fact that this WORKED. I can't stop laughing, seriously. WTF??? Why did it fix the issue??? And most intriguingly: how the hell did this guys found out about this???????!!!!!!!???? SHOCKING.

    Just tried this after the freezer method failed last time and it worked with just one strong press in the middle, just over the hinge. It is clear to me there is a loose connection inside. Literally, not being able to switch on trying everything for hours > find this video > one press > ON!!!! Thank you so much!

    After trying all the button combos/timings I could find. Stumbled on to this video. I was certain it was a spoof/prank. But thought I would try it before taking it to a shop… after 3 sets of 15 it miraculously turned on!!! Thanks for the tip!!! Stoked. I thought I had lost everything!!!

      Taking it apart looked like a pain in the ass, and the 1911 seemed a bit too extreme. I opted for a middle ground and "holy shit it worked". The rest is history.

    How hard are people pushing? I've also heard about flexing the case, but I don't want to break the screen. I've tried a few times to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @HollywoodHornet
      @HollywoodHornet  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty hard but not all my strength. As hard as you would press if actually pressing on a CPR dummy to make the clicking noise of a proper chest compression.

    Dude what?!? Even after reading the comments I went like - Why not?
    Worked first time. Actually on the second push I heard a sound like static electricity arcing inside.
    And bammm worked. What a lifesaver.

    Part man, part machine. I swear I thought it was a straight up hoax with tons of fake comments etc., but wtf i gave heart treatment to this sp3 that has been dead for years and its breathing again. Mind blown, thanks!

    • @HollywoodHornet
      @HollywoodHornet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's why I recorded the video this time around. I did CPR on my parent's SP3 that had been dead for months and it revived. I thought "nobody is gonna believe me if I don't record it."
      The wife said "just go through the motions and pretend to dobit again". I said "no way, the internet will know it's fake and not even try it. I have to do it legit when another one breaks."
      A month went by and mine broke. I said "perfect! Not I can legit do CPR on a dead one and resurrect it." Recorded video, resurrected it, and now saving SP3's, one view at a time. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Saw the video and thought it was a windup. My Surface Pro 3 has been dead all day and I was considering opening it up and looking for faults which would probably break it. Tried the CPR approach all around the device (didn't work on the middle) and the device turned on straight away. Amazing. Funniest fix I've ever seen.

  • @UGotA9

    I did work for me Matt...I even went to the Microsoft Store prior, they worked on it...rep said it was dead. I guess with touch screens...loose wires will happen...but Microsoft has to get better info on these fixes...these units are not cheap. Thanks Matt!
