Please show your dog wood trees while they are in full bloom. Many people do not know the true beauty of them. People move from other states and think they are dead trees and cut them down. They are one of the most beautiful trees in the mountains.
In the future a sheet over the cage in the back of the vehicle really helps reduce stress on the bird. I traveled from N.Ga mountains and moved back to Wi. 930 miles with 10 hens and 2 roosters and didn't lose one bird. Watered at every stop. Get the bowl waterers that attach to the kennel. I put 3 birds in each Kennel. Kept car running for air conditioning the whole trip. Only shut off vehicle to put gas in car. 2 SUV's. I also had 3 dogs. Lol. Ohhhh how I miss the Dog Wood trees!!!!! ALWAYS immediately keep your new chickens in the coop for a week. They learn that is their HOME. You made a real rookie mistake. You carry the kennel to the coop and let him out with the coop door closed. For anyone interested.
We fully hope they start laying for us that soon, but it might be VERY cold here by that time which can delay laying, so we're mentally prepared to wait longer if need be. We'll see 🤞
Yes! We placed an order with Mcmurray for about 70 chicks a few months ago and they will be shipped to us at the end of April. We got red rangers, whiting blues, whiting greens, and wyandottes!
I’m glad to see that you found Lucky! At least your first chicken story will be a memorable one :)
Us too! It's funny now that we can look back on it and we know he's safe.
Glad you found Lucky! I'm looking forward to following your homestead-I live outside of Asheville as well! Glad you're already getting eggs! 🥚🍳

Never mind. You answered. 3 acres. Sorry.
I was really counting on Copper to find Lucky but apparently tracking isn’t his natural strong suit 🤣❤️
glad he’s home! 🍀
Your chickens should continue to lay eggs for three or four years.
Hi from the U.K…. Your young chicks should start laying between 20 & 26 weeks.. your chick supplier would tell you that.. good luck..

Look into American Bresse chickens.. Lay after 16 weeks old and great meat birds.. NorthsStar Farms is in NC.
We'll check that out, thanks!
Have you heard about Murray Mc Murray hatcheries....for chickens . They ship out foul. I saw this from other vloggers in North Carolina.
