My son served a mission in Canada. They eat a lot of Putine. Its basically fried potatoes with cheese curds and gravy over all. He taught us, and I have learned to make cheese curds, very simple, and we enjoy this fortifing snack often after the chores are done. By the way Ben, I drilled a hole in the cap to fit the pig nipple through.
Ben, I forgot to tell you one more thing. Congratulations for selling out of all your classes. You must be doing something right in this case. Ben, when you can sell out all your classes for the four times that you're having it at the end of the year, that's very good. Again, CONGRATULATIONS NOW BEN 😁😁❗❗❗
Comfort and country food. Fills the belly and is wholesome. Your children are not fat. They get what they need to develop and be strong. That is what we, as a country, have forgotten. God bless your family.
Buggy is such a blessing , I could hear her silently tell the guinea pigs to "Grow "🥰, love cake , confess that I would not have been able to resist running off with the pan of freshly roasted nuts straight from the oven . 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋So happy to see you all well after the recent weather trauma .
Again Meg, you're doing something wonderful in scratch cooking in the kitchen again. I love it when you do that on the videos because Meg, I learn a lot from you in what you do in scratch cooking. And like I said one or two videos ago, I don't see very many people that knows how to cook from scratch as good as you do. Meg so CONGRATULATIONS MEG 🌻😁🌻😁❗❗❗
Using leftover gravy for the casserole is brilliant!!! I'm 100% doing that and it sounds like a way to pack SOOO much more flavor into a dish! This is life-changing!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Good afternoon 😊 I just watched Becky from Acres Homestead, she was bragging about Meg's dry rub chicken, she " that was the best chicken I ever had " way to go, love your channel ❤
MaryStev, l saw Becky and her sister on Ben's video of pig butchering weekend. I said, "Hey, l know them!l." it was a great class. I'm trying to talk Becky & Josh into taking Ben's January class. That would be fun!
Hello, what a wonderful video! I watched a video from Modern Homestead Alaska, where they did a whole cow! Very informative. I watched this video and what i noticed was ALL the things that Meg made in one day. Canned chicken broth, made and decorated a cake and made dinner. I am sure there was breakfast and lunch in there somewhere. All the hard work all of you do and you are always smiling! And the gratitude you have for everything is truly wonderful. I know i say this a lot, but my parents and family lived on a farm when they first arrived in Canada. It truly was the best place for me as a child. My grand mother feeding 17 people with a coal and wood stove and all the preserving etc. I loved it! This is what i love about watching homesteading videos, even with all the hard work, it seems that everyone is happy! Thank you so much again for another amazing video and have a happy day!
If you ever get a freeze dryer, you might try freeze drying your stock. It frees up lots of jars, plus the stock can be used as seasoning on just about everything! I love to "salt" our veggies with the powdered broth.
Little Elizabeth finally closed her mouth for a second...lol! She's so cute! Hopefully, your piggies don't ransack the housing like ours do! They love rubbing up on things quite hard.
Omg Meg..winter (cooler weather),I bake plenty.,I make a lot of cakes with nuts..bread pudding.,and more.,and banana bread ., Yesterday I made a cake with a smashed bananas that we’re going bad and I had some fresh raspberries. I threw them in there and so I had a raspberry banana cake. It was so good. We’re still actually picking on it because we only pick on it from breakfast, coffee in the morning even when I make bread pudding it’s really just in the morning with coffee .
Someday I'll get a freeze dryer, and top on my list to freeze dry is homemade broth. Some of that powder and some hot water = instant homemade broth, and no canning jars necessary.
My friend emailed me and said "Suddenly your hobby of squirreling away food doesn't seem so crazy!"😂 a year late and a dollar short, but better late than never.
Just a thought: I have been very successfully freezing my stock in ziplock bags for years now. The stock slips easily out of the bag after a little warm water flows over it. And the bag can be cleaned & reused.
How on earth do you get such big broccoli!? In NZ I find broccoli hard to grow where I am but when it does grow it's pitiful small sizes. What variety do you use please. I know different climate different soil etc but me and Broccoli just don't work lol. Love the Pigsperament and Meg, cake for dinner is a must every now and then lol. 😂
Enjoyed your video. Appreciate your sharing your thoughts, experience and creative expertise. Blessings to you and family in ☝ 🙏 🙌 💪 Jesus's Mighty Holy Eternal Name. Be safe, strong, discerning and successful. Prayers for you and family ❤.
My grandma always made me a chocolate cake with butter cream frosting, topped with black walnuts for my birthday. It is a fantastic combination! Try it and see.
I can never have too much chicken broth canned. I use it in mashed potatoes. When I make rice. When I make my gravy. Plus all different recipes. I work at a convenience store/deli. And my boss gave me 20 pounds of chicken legs he bought for the store. But the idea for them didn't pan out. So he gave them to me. I took them and put them in water and then took all the meat off the bones and made chicken pot pie filling and canned 16 pints. Then canned the broth. Got 5 qt. And 3 pints. Then when my boss goes to Costco. I have him pick me up the rotisserie chickens and I take all the meat off them. Can it. Then take the leftovers and carcuses and make chicken broth and can that. 4 chickens gave me 16 pints of meat. And 2 dinners and 2 lunches. And I put the carcuses in the freezer to make stock later. So for 20.00 I think I got a lot for that money. When I make my broths. I don't add any seasonings or veggies. I just want plain broth. That way it doesn't change my recipes that I use it in. And its super easy to make and can.
I have watched for years, and I am just curious about where you store all your canned goods. You do can a LOT and I love to see other ppl canned goods on their shelves. I also get ideas from others about different things to can and love seeing how beautiful it all looks on their shelves. I can certainly appreciate all the hard work that goes into canning, and it is so satisfying to see all your work .
All those people and one little plate of food lol. I can tell yall didn’t grow up in Louisiana. We usually have so much food on the table you barely have room for your elbows! I would starve to death at your house!! LoL 😆
The point of an experiment is to learn something. If the piglet tractor doesn't work, it doesn't mean that the experiment failed, just that you didn't get the result you hoped for.
Meg, yum for the casserole I also put carrots in mine and the maple syrup cake sounds delicious. Do you have the recipe ? Ben, great idea to utilize the chicken tractor for the pigs. I'd love to come for the January class but alas to far for me I've butchered pigs but would love how to make the specialist pork products. Blessings to you and the family. 😊🇺🇲
Ben I have to say something about what you said in the first part of the video. That might be a little hard for you to do to put your thinking cap on and think about what you're trying to think about in the video. But I can tell you everything will be okay. Ben, you won't be at alarm one way or the other. Ben ❗❗❗
If move piglets twice a day like you said they don’t have time to do much damage in that time at their age but will aerate the grass/land which should help.

Awesomeness. I could almost smell that cake! Blessed my heart to see Buggy take Elizabeth's hand for prayer. So precious. Thank you.
Sweet babygirl, looking like her beautiful sister , she looks huggable
I would like to spend the day just watching Meg cook all the things. :)
Love your videos. Wanted to thank you for helping out Justin Rhodes and his family after the hurricane..You guys are amazing ❤
Your kids are growing up so fast, and the baby is so sweet.
You folks work hard and I see the joy your life brings you. You are blessed as you have blessed others.

I love ALL The Hollar Homestead videos!

You just get what makes a great video!
Using leftover gravy for the casserole is brilliant!!! I'm 100% doing that and it sounds like a way to pack SOOO much more flavor into a dish! This is life-changing!!!❤❤❤❤❤

Good evening beautiful people 5:12 here glad to see you back
Good afternoon 😊
I just watched Becky from Acres Homestead, she was bragging about Meg's dry rub chicken, she " that was the best chicken I ever had " way to go, love your channel ❤
Store the glue can upside down it seals out air and keeps the threads clean makes opening easier and can dosen't dry out so fast
MaryStev, l saw Becky and her sister on Ben's video of pig butchering weekend. I said, "Hey, l know them!l." it was a great class. I'm trying to talk Becky & Josh into taking Ben's January class. That would be fun!
You are incredible, keep making videos!
It's nice to see your still harvesting from the garden. Homemade comfort food is the best😊

Absolutely a great use for home made stock . Always preferable to commercial 🥰
Your baby is gorgeous… no surprise really …. Blessed with great genes ….
Little Elizabeth finally closed her mouth for a second...lol! She's so cute! Hopefully, your piggies don't ransack the housing like ours do! They love rubbing up on things quite hard.

💚 It'll be interesting to see how it goes with the piggies in the chicken tractors. Mmm, Meg, how was your cake? 💚
oh my goodness baby is soo cute
I don't blame Buggy. I always got bored inside too. School was hell for me. lol
I was watching Becky on and she mention going to your pig class last year and how good Megan food was.
She is totally just like you ♥♥♥

I enjoy watching the videos. Thank you for including the prayer at the end.
Elizabeth is getting so big and she’s so pretty.
Love that sweet precious baby I think she's looking more like her mommy now
Baby Elizabeth is getting so big! What a cutie!
wherever dada goes, buggy follows..........learning young to be a farm girl. that's what she used to say in one of the videos.
I would like to sit at the table with you all, cozy in the evening, and have a piece of cake!
Buggie looks so cute!
Sow the lands kune kune would work brilliantly with this experiment
I think to piggies will be happy in their new home.
Awesome video , great idea what the portable chicken runs ! Thanks for sharing !!!!! 🙏👍😊❤️
Thanks for another great farm and cooking video!! God bless!
I enjoyed your video. I always love to see the two little girls. They are so cute.
Elizabeth is lovely and so bright looking.
Thanks for being neutral about the election. Love you guys. It’s good to have happy places to visit no matter what. ❤
If I had a wife like Meg I'd weigh about 800 pounds thank the lord for my own cooking
That is the homesteading spirit❣️
We had the same casserole but made with yellow squash and onions. Sooo good! Pork chops on the side cause I had no chicken for the casserole
Hey Hollers👋, this experiment might make for a larger pig🌞.
I'm so glad you are all doing well with classes!
Your beautiful Elizabeth 💗.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Hi ya all! Hope this finds you and yours good ❤
You can never have enough shmalts!!!! Looks great!
I see you got daddy’s big girl with you
Every time i watch moma is always cooking and it looks😊😊😊😊 delicious
You'll find out how sturdy your chicken tractors are. I think a group of pigs could break an anvil.
Nice to see Buggie out with you doing chores Ben. Meg the cake looks great
I love black walnut chocolate fudge
Just a thought: I have been very successfully freezing my stock in ziplock bags for years now. The stock slips easily out of the bag after a little warm water flows over it. And the bag can be cleaned & reused.
That casserole looks good . I can imagine it with some cheese biscuits on top
I love making my own stock now and my chickens love the spent chicken carcasses (ew) I just take out the long bones.
I love your videos and a great family I'm from West Virginia
Great video. Thank you. Blessings
Love you all💖💖💖
Wish you success in your pig experiment I have a positive feeling that it will be a success unless they out grow the chicken tractors.
Classy Chicken by The Best in Bridge…Yummy, it is my middle child’s favourite meal and I gave it to his wife who makes it delicious!
I love to bake more in the cooler days also! 😀
Yes, makes the house smell wonderful 👍👵🏻❣️

Grass to bacon is a pretty good deal!

AHHH! CBR casserole with cheese. Havent made it in a while. On the menu for tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder hahaha
My grandma always made me a chocolate cake with butter cream frosting, topped with black walnuts for my birthday. It is a fantastic combination! Try it and see.
We all love buggy😍

I heard from a lil birdy that Joel Salatin is going to be an advisor in the USDA, huge news
Somebody forgot to harvest the broccoli! 😮
Hi buggy❤
My oldest son the first time I made chicken divan (broccoli casserole) asked me why I was making him eat little trees. He was two.

She said wherever there's a spot.
I'm surprised you didn't mention making soup with some of that broth.
I would like to make that cake.
Meg, quit cooking like that i hadn't finished eating very long ago and you made me hungry again.
Buggy loves being with her dad
All those people and one little plate of food lol. I can tell yall didn’t grow up in Louisiana. We usually have so much food on the table you barely have room for your elbows! I would starve to death at your house!! LoL 😆
At the end of the experiment you can do a meat taste comparison between the grass-fed one and the regular one.
We use pig nipples waterers on a pressurized line and it works fine.
Hey guys, I always enjoy your videos. Thank you. Sweet little buggy. Where did buggy go? Oh, tell me about the weight.
What about the ram pens you made for Justin, with cattle panels and wheels where it was all welded?
That just seems more sturdy!
Chicken Fat = Smaltz!
Yummy goodness. ❤

What?
That comment doesn’t make any sense to me.
We want cake lol❤
