I'm so glad I came across your video I've seen so many. My balloon sinuplasty ethmoidectomy turbinate reduction surgery is this Wednesday and I'm so nervous. Glad to hear you're still doing great. Best preparation tips would be greatly appreciated. I am nervous to the point of panic, scared of how I may panic once I wake up, scared to choke or not breathe. Ugh!

Glad you're feeling better. I'm getting 4 procedures at once done in 4 days. My nasal/sinus passages are all completely blocked. Being a carpenter for 4 years messed me up. All I feel is pain and pressure all day every day. 2 failed procedures. Now the doc is doing everything all at the same time. You're pretty good Looking btw. Update us where you're at now

Emily, you are so kind to post these two videos and talk about your experience. I think it has now been 16 months or more since you had the surgery if I am counting right. I hope you continue to improve and enjoy what you love to do. I am planning to do this some time next month, and it was very helpful to find your feed back as a patient.

How did it go? I'm one week into my procedure. Right nostril is very good, left is still a bit plugged up. I can breath through it but it's definitely got some blockage going on. Not sure if that'll go away... Maybe it's still swollen from surgery not sure

@@MousyTTR I did have the procedure around April 2021. All has gone well until winter hit, now I have to blow my nose more. However, I think in the past it just wouldn't clear/come out and I'd get a sinus infection. Now it seems to clear out. Overall, I've been very happy with the results. I do rinse twice a day and that keeps things cleared out and I use Flonase, 1 shot in each nostril in the morning and 1 shot at night. The doctor says I don't have to do all of that, but I do see positive results from it.

I live with constant congestion for the last few years and I'm thinking about getting this surgery done. I'm kind of scared, but my life has been miserable feeling this way. I'm moody, irreparable, and just always tired. I cry slot because life doesn't feel normal anymore. I can't breath, sleep, smell or taste. My quilty of life has hit an all time low. I have two small children but I feel like a horrible parent because I'm depressed all the time because I can't function normally. I'm hoping I can get this surgery ASAP..... I was really encouraged by the video until I saw it was from 4 years ago. I have to assume that if there were no subsequent videos, then the results didn't stand the test of time. That would explain why there are no follow-ups by anyone past two years. I am in the condition you describe, with blocked sinuses nearly all the time. Guess this may not be a panacea.

The vertigo lasted for 2 weeks then slowly went away but it was one of the scariest things I have ever experienced. When the doctor told me after a CT scan I had multiple sinus cavities infected and the infection was also in my ears causing my vertigo I couldn’t even believe it.

My allergy doctor has suggested this surgery for me and I have been looking for a community of people for review to no avail! So I am thankful for your review. I want to get this surgery as the sinus pressure behind my eyes is horrible but I am fearful that my sense of smell will be effected. I depend on it in my line of work and I truly would be devastated to not smell as well as I currently do. Even in the midst of my many sinus infections my sense of smell seemed to still be intact So I guess my question is has yours changed?

Listening to your video I got courage; otherwise even family doctors were stopping me; no antibiotics or nasal sprays were good enough!
I think I am feeling better too; but, I lost my sense of smell, and some taste; and I still got a lot of pain even in my ear and my gums are also hurting; and am very sleepy all the time.

yeah my hearing was muffled off and on. My throat/mouth I think is super dry from taking all the medications they gave me to make sure I don’t get an infection and because I can’t breathe through my nose yet. Also, how long did it take for you to begin to smell/taste again? I had no sense of smell or taste, I was always congested and nasal sounding, I was sick constantly with maybe a few weeks of relief a year, I could not breathe through my nose at all if I laid down, my CT scans showed that almost every single one of my sinuses was infected at one point ( I went to the hospital after a bad case of vertigo and the worst sinus infection I ever had - got put on last line black box antibiotics) constant pressure in my face, my ears were always muffled and felt full, would blow my nose and have disgusting bright yellow thick mucus and popping/clicking sounds coming from my nose and cheeks near sinus area and pressure in my teeth from my sinuses being infected. After like 6 different rounds of antibiotics, and steroids and trying all the natural remedies I could find, doing a sinus rinse twice a day, I finally gave up and got the surgery to put me out of my misery :)

Did you snore at all before your surgery? If so did it go away after surgery ??

Hi! I did not snore beforehand, I mean I had my moments when really stuffed up but was not a chronic snorer.

Regarding your comment about the habit of still breathing through your mouth at night. There is a solution! It's a tad weird, but it forces you to make the transition. Literally tape your lips closed! I'm not kidding, they make lip tape, you can find it on Amazon lol... They sell it for literally this reason, for people with the habit of breathing through their mouth at night. It forces you to make that muscle memory transition over to your nose. Very weird but hey, what else are you suppose to do if you want to change haha.

I live in the #2 worse city for allergy/sinus sufferers. I'm thinking about getting this done. I get sinus infection in summer turning into fall and winter turning into spring. I'm thinking about getting this done cause I get sinus infections that drains into my ear. Then I suffer from middle ear infections. My pcp asked me have I went to talk to an ear nose and throat dr yet. She either recommends me getting sinus surgery or allergies shot. My question I have that you might of explained already in this video. But I'm currently on benadryl and its 12 am. But how hard was your recovery and did you miss work and or college? Also how long did it take before you noticed a difference.

Hi! I would definitely recommend seeing an ENT and getting their opinion. I too had middle ear issues with infection and even vertigo from one really bad sinus infection. I only missed work on the day of my actual surgery. I went back to work the next day and I was able to breathe better about a week later. There are some versions of sinus surgery that will have you out of work and school for much longer. It also depends on your body and pain tolerance, some people take a few days off work to recover from balloon sinuplasty even though I only took one. I waited about 2 weeks to start exercising again, but everything is dependent on your body and tolerance :)
