My guess for what kept the last one from being a 10 was that there just wasn't enough tomato. Usually he likes a lot more, so that might be it.

Flats, as a multi decade stop and shop employee, you can indeed walk into stop and shop and buy some buffalo meat. You would have to make your own patty tho. I've done it. Highly recommend.

Stop and Shop may have a buffalo burger (Ive also heard them called Bison burgers) you can get that ground meat at Aldi or Whole Foods usually.

Tomato talk - legit. As a kid, I got... discouraged from tomato. PTSD lmao. My dad was a bastard, and used to kick me and my sisters off our beds UNGODLY early saturday morning - first day of weekend respite from school week, and put us to make breakfast: DUN DUN DUN. You guessed it, most often - tomato&cheese sandwiches. It got to the point we could not enjoy tomatoes, cus they reminded us of those nasty mornings xD And only recently, around 30, I sort of started to enjoy occasional tomatoes.

pumpernickel here is like a slab-solid and super dense rye bread - best with ham and cheese and mustard or pickels etc. , but the texture (and density) is definitely not for everyone

The original pumpernickel is an extremely moist and crumbly dark rye bread. Like, it's so crumbly that spreading butter that isn't entirely soft and room temperature will probably just wreck the surface of the bread. It's earthy and a bit acidic in flavour. This unique consistency is the result of very coarsely ground rye and the fact that it is baked very low and slow compared to other breads.
The "pumpernickel" as apparently sold by american grocerie stores looks to be both not dark enough and not crumbly enough and also probably too dry, also it has too much of a crust. It looks like a run-of-the-mill dark rye bread without all of the characteristics that make pumpernickel uniquely pumpernickel.
No butter kept that last sandwich from a 10: the butter would’ve been the delivery vehicle for roast beef umami goodness

Buffalo burger IS A HUGE W! You can buy them here at almost every major grocery store. Almost always as burgers but sometimes ground buffalo. It shouldn't be to hard to find where you live Flats!

Buffalo/Bison wouldn't be my first choice for burgers. It's interesting and a bit different, but in my local stores you can only really find a 90/10 mix. I definitely want more fat in a burger (80/20 or better) for both flavor and more browning on the meat.
5:55 I am not going to just say cheese is cheese because that isn’t true, but I have never had a cheese I outright didn’t like, it’s all based off what you are having it with. I’m not going to have some super sharp fancy jaw locking 20 year aged cheese on a standard burger where cheddar or Colby Jack would do just fine, but if I’m having it on its own with wine or something it’s perfect. I wouldn’t pair blueberry goat cheese with fries, but normal goat cheese goes perfect with fries. I absolutely love Poutine though, mixing brown gravy, poutine cheese, and some really solid fries is an amazing combo.

Tomatoes are one of those things that are significantly better if you get fresh/good ones. Pick em straight out of a garden and put some salt on them and they are godlike but if you buy some cheap tomatoes at walmart they just dont compare
