One tip is to look past whatever is directly in front of you. You can look past the Orisa. You can look around and find better, easier picks. Only looking at Orisa the entire first point and doing nothing, on second point looking from the junkrat in front of you to the orisa that meets your eyes next doesn't have to happen - look at the Mercy who immediately rezzes as you stop looking.
One of the best things you can learn as a new player trying to get out of gold. Zarya bubbled in front of you? shoot the ones in the back, make them panic, distract for your flankers
That's why I tell people to go to high ground as dps. It's easier to see past the tank and kill people. Sometimes it ends up being kill the tank but for the majority of games killing people behind the tank is the play. Simply playing high ground got me to plat on dps.
This applies to a lot more than just tank, too. I've been playing Hanzo a lot recently and I can't tell you how many easy kills you can get by just shooting beyond what's in front of you. @@GenuineRage methinks 5v5 in itself (not counting other changes) hit him the worst (in the tank category) because of that Too much responsibility for a character that's just chaos incarnate
I wanna add as an Orisa main in Diamond, It's incredibly annoying as an Orisa player when you try and bar people and control an area... to have the whole enemy team ignore you and walk past you. You do too little damage to go actually kill someone fast enough if that target is being healed, and while you can spin enemies away, you can only pin/stun one target at a time, and when your cooldowns are exhausted due to poor cooldown management, you die VERY fast because you're a massive target as for people going against orisa, Keep track of their cooldowns. and if an orisa use both spin AND fortify together (either bad plays or panicking), shoot literally anyone else for a few seconds and you can immediately delete orisa afterwards
Keep your crosshair at whatever the head height is of your own character and adjust to fit to the target, thats what i basically do, after years of high level cs, that stuff is drilled to the deepest depths of my brain lmao
Fr, it was a severe habit of mine to keep crosshairs aimed down cause of years of console gaming. After playing PC and in turn CS that shit just doesn't fly, honestly hurts more to see that than how poor the game sense is.
Dang! Flats has that NVIDIA sponsor baby! It's kind of wild some people don't know about all the low latency options in games and settings on your pc. My GPU never has any load on it just my poor 3800x struggling its little ass off lol
Now I'm a noob but ive been using his shield primarily to redirect, hit the vortex and try to pick them off with the staff. Nemesis ive only been using for the squishies. Pissed off alot of Widows with that barrier
As someone who recently started to play Ram and is having a great time with pretty good matches, I have to say: Nemesis is likely the most important part of your kit and you should use it often. DPS got too close? Nemesis. Need to finish someone off, but you ran out of ammo? Nemesis (your normal weapon is also reloaded every time you go into Nemesis and back). Got yourself in a bad situation? Nemesis + block and get back to your support. Of course, you have to be careful and pay attention to your cooldown, but it's important to use Nemesis in a lot of situations. Using it or not can be the difference between wiping a team or allowing yours to be wiped, in some situations. Also, at least in low rank and QP, most people tend to panic when you go Nemesis on their face. Now, I should mention I'm more of a casual player, so maybe my advice isn't that good. However, this has been my experience playing Ram.
This is the bronze tank that bronze supports clamor about wanting. Not moving, soaking damage, doing absolutely nothing risky and staying right in front of the supports the entire time so they can pump their numbers up. I can't even call this playing the game really, you're just a passive entity. The Orisa in this video was actually being aggressive, perhaps overly, and it was working out far better for them.
When climbing the metal ranks it almost always benefits you to yolo/play over aggressive on tank because the enemy team likely has zero idea how to deal with it. Nothing worse than a tank that sits in the choke treading water, and it's an issue even at higher ranks. It's sad that this "bronze" gameplay looks like over half the tanks I get paired with in Diamond 3.
To be fair, this is how 75% of the tanks play in Diamond 3, they completely tunnel vision the enemy tank, ignore the Mercy rezzing right in front of them 3 feet away as an easy pick and instead keep going after the enemy tank with zero awareness.
This person reminds me a lot of myself playing not just ram but in general i always try to be nice to everyone by thanking & being there for my team & give a fair fight to the enemies I feel like the reason they don’t rly go for the squishies(?) let alone in nemesis form & overall don’t go as hard as they should considering it IS comp is cause they forget what mode they’re playing & feel bad since they’re a tank and overpower them considering that’s how i feel sometimes that or sometimes I just don’t see them as a threat & in the end i sometimes get proved wrong sometimes i don’t (for the record i DONT play comp like ever LMAO im not gonna be as easy on ppl & silly in a serious mode so i can get yelled @ like that im saying like in qp & arcade) im in it to have a good time & i want the other ppl im playing with to have a good time too or at least a non agnoni(is grape flavored)zing time
How to play ram: It's lunch time, and you got ham sandwiches. You make sure everyone on the other team gets all the ham sandwiches they can eat, until they pass out. When you see a hanzo or mercy, they're small..they don't need much to get full. You go over there, and paunch, I mean give them their sandwiches until they take a nap. Edit: also Im getting vanilla wow tank vibes. Let me look at the floor until I get to where I am going. Gotta keep my threat up.
I know you are not using this for teaching, but I am new to ramatra and I got a lot of good stuff from watching this video. As I do from your other videos too.
Low elo doesn’t realize how easy it is to kill most “strong” heros because they just don’t pay attention to cooldowns. Once you get over that barrier it’s a lot easier to win your fights. Cooldown management and tracking plus placement is really all you need to climb. Everything else takes time and you can’t force
similar to the shield health when playing rein or sigma. AS a tank you should think about your HP the same way. you shouldn't be scared to lose 50% in a fight if you have escapes to use to get out
I just looked at the hero bundle, and Sigma is listed as "Galactic Emperor". Not sure if this is a troll or not, but that would be hilarious if some new person was like "I like this Galactic Emperor guy" lmao
This match up has been the bane of my existence as a Ram main lately. I avoid the orisa till she uses cooldowns, but half the time she just wipes my team and then even after I kill 3 by avoiding her I don’t have the support to kill her after. It’s tough. She is the worst tank to play against cause almost every ability can move and push you in ways you cannot fight against. It’s not fun to play into at all.
try to go alternative routes that gives you direct acces to the enemy backline or wait until the enemy walks right into your crosslines, until then poke. if you do this even on rein you will be able to destroy the enemy team.
In a tank off, Orisa is just not someone you can fight. It isn't even someone you SHOULD be fighting. Orisa won't kill you with her damage but you for sure won't kill Orisa if her healers are good enough. Learned this a hard way when I got stuck in a position as Sig against an Orisa with her healers out of range of my death balls and had most of the enemy team firing upon me. Luckily this was quick play and I had just got the game so I ALSO couldn't die thanks to the enemy Bastion filling my black hole with lead every time without fail and I had enough knowledge of cooldown cycling with that to ALSO be immortal... but I couldn't kill anyone or push into the wider area alone and the enemies couldn't kill me Now normally this is where the other 3 members of your team comes in, helps to get the picks you can't or at least cause enough damage to force the enemies to move back so you can gain ground My teammates managed to get zero kills that entire game. I do not know how. I was against the entire enemy team and I never saw them so I can only assume they were flanking the turretless torb and either getting deleted by that, getting sniped by illari, or bastion peaked back into the flank route after filling up my healthbar and killed them all. All I know is that I ended the game with the best K/D ratio of 0 0 and my entire team didn't even exist. It was a confusing introduction to playing Sigma
How my overwatch games go: Me: Lads, dont use ults even if we use the flashpoint Lucio: Ults right at the end of the flashpoint after i (tank) was dead, score was 2:2 at this point Me: Lucio, why did you use ult, i told you not to Lucio: And? Lost the game because of missing Lucio ult
Also, as a mercy main, the most ANNOYING THING is when an enemy ram does his little vortex thing at me exclusively and it PULLS ME OUT OF THE SKY down onto the ground. It makes flying around super difficult

However if even I, someone who dies a little every time Sym pulls up and my team ignores them because it means I'm going to have to play a tank I don't know, can see that I am physically not built for a task then what is my team thinking?
FINALLY spectating that NOT a Cheater. Pog
just the 2 of us . we can make it if we try. just the two of us
tbh these are the best tips ive seen from flats in awhile
This player definitely feels like a support main with how passive they play, and how much they try to build a good rapport with their supports so they prioritize healing them. As a fellow support player who knows they're awful at Tank, sometimes you just gotta realize that a certain role isn't going to work with your current playstyle.
the irony is they're a Hanzo main
5:55 bro you can’t call chess a “turn your brain off” game, it’s the complete opposite.
I think he meant that you don’t try hard chess and sweat on the edge of your seat because there is not any mechanical skill not that it’s brain dead
9.31 I have never seen an entire team get credit for a kill before
As an OTP Wrecking Ball, I get to see that every match !
((generally when I die, after being hooked, hacked, hindered, discorded and slept))
@@CorynFields lmao
@@CorynFields ball is such a beautifully weird slot in the roster. super high skill expression but generally a solo player on the team in the one role where theres only one of you. i love ball players but it is without a doubt a goofy character. that being said i do think the game needed a shmovement tank and ball fits that niche perfectly
@@GenuineRage if ur ball is playing solo then he isnt playing ball correctly lol
@@GenuineRage methinks 5v5 in itself (not counting other changes) hit him the worst (in the tank category) because of that
Too much responsibility for a character that's just chaos incarnate
I wanna add as an Orisa main in Diamond, It's incredibly annoying as an Orisa player when you try and bar people and control an area... to have the whole enemy team ignore you and walk past you. You do too little damage to go actually kill someone fast enough if that target is being healed, and while you can spin enemies away, you can only pin/stun one target at a time, and when your cooldowns are exhausted due to poor cooldown management, you die VERY fast because you're a massive target
as for people going against orisa, Keep track of their cooldowns. and if an orisa use both spin AND fortify together (either bad plays or panicking), shoot literally anyone else for a few seconds and you can immediately delete orisa afterwards
thank you for bringing back the best intro " I got a goody for you " is my fav , is what makes me wanna watch the vid
watching this makes me feel like I'm back in driver's ed. I forget something, the teacher goes "did you do that properly?"
This guy spent 20 minutes punching Orisa, all the fights he won was because either of his dps got a lucky ultimate.
Little does Flats know the screwing around in between fights in bronze is how he gets the coveted level 5 endorsement.
Awesome content, please do more of these! This's so helpful and you explain so good, thank you!
Love these videos
flats everything you say in your videos critiquing people I listen because you actually know what you're doing
This guy could benefit from turning his sensitivity up by like 2
One of my favorite series on TH-cam l
ANOTHER FLATS SPECTATING I missed these 😭
Love seeing this content, great to just get some solid advice on playing tank
I actually didn't know what level 5 endorsement looked like
I love how half of if it is just how to counter orisa lmao
Dang! Flats has that NVIDIA sponsor baby! It's kind of wild some people don't know about all the low latency options in games and settings on your pc. My GPU never has any load on it just my poor 3800x struggling its little ass off lol
Actually a helpfull spectating bronze, id like to see more of this
Jusr another tip for Ram. When in the punch form and you have ult, cancel your punch before popping ult, otherwise you're wasting valuable shield.
Man got a quality 4 item in that advertisement
I watched this video, queued tank, went 38 and 17. Awesome advice!
I play Ramattra completely different and shoot the squishys because you're gonna get a few kills per game when you focus on the tank 90% of the time
It’s Nyanzo!! Isn’t this the same person who was a level 5 endorsed Hanzo from a year or two back?
Yeah I’m the ground team Hanzo main he saw back then lol
Ngl, I have flats and this series to thank for how I went from bronze 5 to gold 3 in 3 seasons. I learned what not to do because of it lol
Good morning Flats!
THE POKEMON COLOSSEUM MUSIC!!!!!! Such an underrated game
If this ram punch the enemies as much as my dad punch me, they would be able to climb to gm
Best tank tutorial ive ever seen 😂 major words of wisdom here
Flats low key saying he's bad at chess; "it's boring". Okay, Buddy.
One thing that really pisses me off with this game is the random settings that are only pc. If only I could remove clutter on xbox
I play a lot of Rammatra and my mentality is "The LAST person I need to focus on is the Tank"
21:39 ok i watching this for rama tips but after hearing this shit im honestly subscribing cuz thats mad funny
As a new player dabbling in Tank, this is very educational and a confidence booster because I at least have better target priority.
*YOU MUST LEARN TO BLOCK, BROTHER!*
I’m honestly very curious what his favorite so workshop gamemodes are my man’s like Gordon Ramsay going “finally some good fucking game modes”
Why did he sound like a dad teaching a child to swim when he said “DONT BE AFRAID”
We love seeing Mr. Strimmer with sponsors
The controller aim was truly rough to watch lol
The DougDoug 12 month sub alert music at the start caught me off guard (yes i know that's persona music)
To be fair, this is how 75% of the tanks play in Diamond 3, they completely tunnel vision the enemy tank, ignore the Mercy rezzing right in front of them 3 feet away as an easy pick and instead keep going after the enemy tank with zero awareness.
This person reminds me a lot of myself playing not just ram but in general i always try to be nice to everyone by thanking & being there for my team & give a fair fight to the enemies
I feel like the reason they don’t rly go for the squishies(?) let alone in nemesis form & overall don’t go as hard as they should considering it IS comp is cause they forget what mode they’re playing & feel bad since they’re a tank and overpower them considering that’s how i feel sometimes that or sometimes I just don’t see them as a threat & in the end i sometimes get proved wrong sometimes i don’t (for the record i DONT play comp like ever LMAO im not gonna be as easy on ppl & silly in a serious mode so i can get yelled @ like that im saying like in qp & arcade) im in it to have a good time & i want the other ppl im playing with to have a good time too or at least a non agnoni(is grape flavored)zing time
No one believes me when I say Rammatra is just Old Orisa but better
Feel like the lifeweaaver was throwing them off at some points and stopping them from killing
More Lifeweavers need to passive aggressively pull their team into better positions.
As soon as I heard good morning TH-cam I almost cried it's been to long
watching this because the hard stuck diamond 1 needs tips from flats for ram lol
It’s a dude that stays all day in the “just chill” lobby 😭
The Ad Voice is fantastic
How to play ram: It's lunch time, and you got ham sandwiches. You make sure everyone on the other team gets all the ham sandwiches they can eat, until they pass out. When you see a hanzo or mercy, they're small..they don't need much to get full. You go over there, and paunch, I mean give them their sandwiches until they take a nap.
Edit: also Im getting vanilla wow tank vibes. Let me look at the floor until I get to where I am going. Gotta keep my threat up.
Yea ham sanvich!!
Lets be honest... He was memeing to flirt with the lifeweaver...which i don't blame him with that skin. 😅
I’ve learned some important shit about this game, never punch the horse
I know you are not using this for teaching, but I am new to ramatra and I got a lot of good stuff from watching this video. As I do from your other videos too.
We're punching the horse on this one
Low elo doesn’t realize how easy it is to kill most “strong” heros because they just don’t pay attention to cooldowns. Once you get over that barrier it’s a lot easier to win your fights. Cooldown management and tracking plus placement is really all you need to climb. Everything else takes time and you can’t force
His orisa senses were definitely tingling
similar to the shield health when playing rein or sigma.
Also the enemy tank swaps to her instantly upon losing 1 team fight, almost every game in Diamond this happens, lol.
try to go alternative routes that gives you direct acces to the enemy backline or wait until the enemy walks right into your crosslines, until then poke.
if you do this even on rein you will be able to destroy the enemy team.
Luckily this was quick play and I had just got the game so I ALSO couldn't die thanks to the enemy Bastion filling my black hole with lead every time without fail and I had enough knowledge of cooldown cycling with that to ALSO be immortal... but I couldn't kill anyone or push into the wider area alone and the enemies couldn't kill me
Now normally this is where the other 3 members of your team comes in, helps to get the picks you can't or at least cause enough damage to force the enemies to move back so you can gain ground
My teammates managed to get zero kills that entire game.
How my overwatch games go: Me: Lads, dont use ults even if we use the flashpoint
Lucio: Ults right at the end of the flashpoint after i (tank) was dead, score was 2:2 at this point
Me: Lucio, why did you use ult, i told you not to
Lucio: And?
Lost the game because of missing Lucio ult
Shooting the junkrat when they weren’t fully back yet instead of the mercy gave me a headache 😭
Also, as a mercy main, the most ANNOYING THING is when an enemy ram does his little vortex thing at me exclusively and it PULLS ME OUT OF THE SKY down onto the ground. It makes flying around super difficult
Chess is incredibly fun. I wouldn't expect an fps streamer to understand that, though.
office monitor here 1900x1200 24 inch and yes it goes to 75hz but usually play at 60 or lower due to the big screentear at 60 - tis happened when i tried custom 60hz setting to about 95hz -climed to gold 2 from bronze 4 in one setting so this is how much the net or whatever matters - I didnt cange mousesetting since the mouse feels much faster , but thats how PC works ,old facts -I dont enjoy it at all and cant hits as fps but i can heal
Great vid again
Soldier was like. “I got it” 😂
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm jamming to nice persona music i see specalist
Me out here in gold watching people do in bronze what I do I hold. How the duck have I managed to start and stay in gold my entire comp career. 😂
Yeah, that Ana being behind the point and not being noticed was tragic
The level 5 endorsement is so beautiful
