I've always admired Mazda, especially growing up in the 80s, as the marque has been understated. Thanks 🙏 for the overview Kevin.

I know you think it's "lethargic" but put it in perspective mate. The engine is not bad for a 4 cyl 2.5 litre turbo petrol. It punches enough power and torque to get you from 0 to 100 kph in about 7 secs. That's pretty good for an approx 2 tonne vehicle that's meant to be used as a family minibus. It also drinks petrol at the same amount a diesel equivalent SUV/4WD vehicle would do; about 8.5-9 L per 100 kms. I think the engineers at Mazda did a deecent job with this engine.

I'd bought the 2021 CX-9 Grand Touring and it's been nothing but fantastic. Everything works really well - only issue i've had has been rattle in the door if there is too much bass (and that threshold isn't that high (36 vol / 63 total vol for speaker system)

I got the 2022 CX-9 Sport in January, loving it! Black on black. It has everything I could ever need - only complaint is lack of keyless entry on the base model - super annoying having to look for my keys to unlock the door when I"m carrying stuff

@@albertomejia7186 It's just me, wife, and dog, so way more than enough. It depends on the size of your family. If you have multiple kids, I'd look for a bigger car. The CX9, I believe has the smallest interior space out of all the 3 row SUVs.

We own a 2021 GT, and we love it. Almost bought a Touring Plus, but glad we bought the GT for the upgraded features like 360 camera, heads up display, etc.
The only thing I wish the vehicle had was a hybrid powertrain. Mazda is supposed to be offering one in conjunction with Toyota (based on their system). There's nothing wrong with the power of the Turbo four, but the mpg is a bit disappointing. Other than that, zero complaints. Love the CX-9 GT.

I am a little shocked, at how tight the cockpit is. It looks like your knees were being pushed together. Maybe ok for soccer moms. But I don't think dudes are going to be comfortable for long periods of time. However; I believe Mazda makes some of the best everyday vehicles on the road.

Great review, I do not feel the car lethargic. Yes, it is heavy but 0-60 in 7.0 seconds is very respectable. I just leased the touring plus with black 20" wheels and it is great. The only missing feature that Mazda should put on every cx-9 is the bumper sensors. Such a big car shoudl have them in every single trim. The rest is amazing, quiet, and luxurious, with captain chairs, a power lift gate, and fog lights. Everything is for 450 per month!

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  ปีที่แล้ว

Congratulations on the excellent deal my friend, I’m so happy you took advantage of their lease deals. There is hardly any interest on the lease so all your payments are going to the equity of the vehicle.
You’re right it’s definitely fine for street driving but it’s the refinement of it that’s truly next level. Love how quiet Mazdas are

Mazda offers only one engine and the get up and go in this car is better than most in its class due to its turbo engine. For me it's not winding out the engine to 6 to 7000 RPMs but downlow torque where you use it most of the time to pass another vehicle or to enter onto a freeway. That's where this car shines. And in the very top end this car will stay with most of if not all in its class.

    • @Wasabi9111

I really wanted to like this car when it first came out. Test drove it and was completed disappointed. It’s the longest in the class, yet it’s has the least usable interior space. The 3rd row is not usable and there’s barely any cargo/storage space. The telluride is shorter yet it offers so much more space. If I were to buy a 3 row suv, I want the versatility.

I will also mention consumer reports doesn't favor the Kia or Hyundai vehicles. As far as brand raking they're very low at this time. Kia ranked #19. Mazda was ranked #1 in 2021.

The Loudmouth for an extended trip probably not ideal, and the 6 speed was a little tough in New York, and DC traffic, but we made it home and the car was flawless, and returned 26.8 average loaded to the gills with us and luggage, so all good.

I still think the CX-9 looks good despite it's 7 year old design, but that's about all I think I can agree with as far as this model's concern, to me the cons far out=weigh the pros! Where do I begin? Well, let's see, for starters, the underpowered engine is apparent compared to her competition, poor gas mileage, doesn't offer an Hybrid option, seven year old styling & technology, no Pano Roof option, antiquated infortainment unit & a lack of cargo space. I also want to add that the CX-9 lacks a more luxurious environment than other models offered in this category, and the top of the line model going for $49K, I just think it's asking too much for what you get. NowThe Jeep Cherokee L on the other hand checks all the boxes that the Mazda is lacking except for it's driving dynamics. The Jeep's design/styling is fresh & has off-road capabilities that the Mazda could only dream of. The Mazda is way over due for a major redesign, so I would have to place it at the bottom of it's segment...But Mazda does have the 2023 CX-60 or is it gonna be the CX-70 for the US market which I'm really excited about & I think give Mazda a boost that they desperately need to keep them relevant as a car company. I think Honda's gonna blow the competition out the water with their new HR-V, CR-V & Pilot, and I think Toyota will dominate with their new Crown & Sequoia ...CHEERS!

To each his own. I have bought and driven 7 mazdas since 2013, include 2016 and 2020 cx9. They are road warriors, pure and simple. My kids drive 5s and 9s.
and service cost.....very tough to beat.
I also have a very high end Audi...an S model. Fast agile, and I can't stand it. Expensive to upkeep, always has nagging sensor issues, and in an emergency evasive action, there is real possibility you will go into orbit.

I also want Mazda to do better, but I don’t think they have the money to invest in new tech, that’s why everything is from a decade ago - infotainment, 5 speed auto, engine, lack of competitor EVs, etc. I loved Mazda growing up in the 90s, but I’m not sure they’ll be able to stay relevant much longer.

@@Wasabi9111 not sure what tech they are not investing in that you are alluding to. They just went through an entire redo of their entire line in the last decade. but I will agree on infotainment, but not on the ergonomics to use it.
