    It's a good tutorial, but might have been an idea to put the cam overlay in the bottom right instead :)

      Thanks Daniel, i sadly realised that after i'd captured all the footage which is why i went back and recorded footage separately of selecting key things and overlayed it on the footage. Could have honestly kicked myself.

    What do you think about Dave Jones intro to pcb design? He basically says never use metric and only use mils/thou except for manufacturing dimensions like board dimensions and drill holes.

    Hi Colin thanks for your videos I am trying to learn how to wire things and you have been a great help. Can you take a second to answer a question. Do you need to install the DC1 to provide power to the Wemos? or can you just run a USB mini to the Wemos direct? thanks in advance

    • @Chickey
      @Chickey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Colin, when you select the PCB board colour in EasyEDA (on any PCB design software) is that type of information included in the exported files you would send to the manufacturer? Or, do the exported files only contain the basic connection and layout data, and anything to do with aesthetics is up to what you and the manufacturer agree on?

    • @FragBenitez
      @FragBenitez ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to specify to the manufacturer what board color you need (that info is not includen with the Gerber files you provide as far as I know)

    thanks for the great video! im just started with elctronics. why does the dc power supply jack got 3 pins? 5V, ground and the third is?

    • @Chickey

      the third pin is another ground if memory serves.

    And a note on the PIP placement I noticed in the last video, it covers up your palette which might make things a little more difficult to follow for people not familiar with EasyEDA. Case in point, when you were discussing the board layers, what you were doing wasn't visible. Aside from that, a nice tutorial. I wish this was around when I decided to play with EasyEDA (what feels like)years ago. Looking forward to Part 3.

      I had captured some extra footage and thought i had overlaid that on the right, i must have missed it out of the edit. It ended up taking quite some time to edit and i got sick of my own voice in the end lol

      hmx really appreciate the comment. I took quite a while filming this. I know it’s only 34mins or so in total but was so much more footage and reshot bits a few times and truly could have kicked myself over certain things but it’s all a learning experience.

      Never see the point of overlaying cams of people talking on instructional videos, people are looking at what you are doing on the main screen not you. It seems very popular amongst some youtubers but I cant work out why. Maybe its a case of because you can?
      Anyway very good well explained video nonetheless.

    • @Chickey
      @Chickey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw a good overview recently where it mentions that it still has it's place as even when your manually routing the autoroute could give you an idea or highlight bottlenecks that you have which you may have issues routing around.

    The cap near the jack barrel is useless. It must be placed close to the load (on the opposite side of the board)!! And yet you pretend to teach others how to make a PCB.
