    When you put the screws back in the case turn the screw counter clockwise until it clicks and then it is lined up to the threads and will not break the plastic.

    When replacing surface mount caps why not used new surface mounts? Are surface mount caps less reliable then through hole caps?

    • @julesl6910
      @julesl6910 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes they are, quality through hole components are bigger, and they are better. Size does matter.

  • @David3o3

    The reason people replace all of the electrolytic caps is due to age. If one fails the rest are likely going to fail or leak as well which can damage the board and other components around them. It's more work but the best practice.

  • @MrPursuitElectronics

    I guess I will have to attempt this. I have a white one. I unplugged it to move it and when I plugged it back in.....the clock comes on and nothing else happens. Do you by chance have a list of capacitors for these?

    • @mrfishjosh
      @mrfishjosh 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've found that sometimes there are different revisions so the caps list are not always the same.
      I believe there are 15 caps I replace though.

    • @MrPursuitElectronics
      @MrPursuitElectronics 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mrfishjosh Actually, I plugged mine back in and it sat over the weekend and voila....it turned on. I have not turned it off since. Perhaps the capacitors needed to charge up to work...I dunno.

    What I find absolutely amazing about Bose products people still buy their garbage. I bought my mother for her 50th birthday of 26 years ago a Bang and Olufson 3000 I think it's a AM FM CD cassette you have the option of tabletop mounting or wall mounting that thing has worked absolutely flawlessly has never skipped a beat and all these years but I've yet to see any Bose product that lasts more than 10 years I've had people bring me their loudspeakers where the glue joints are literally falling apart and the speakers are two and three years old then you take them apart you look at the capacitors and the components they use in their speakers and it's stuff that you would find in a $15 clock radio absolute garbage I find it absolutely completely hysterical that people still Buy Bose

      As long as you but better quality new capacitors in it they will work great!

    Why are these BOSE wave radios built with such cheap components? Almost all fail eventually and go bad. They were and still are expensive systems.

    • @thespecialist786
      @thespecialist786 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They are not cheap, the radios are over 10 years old. Every cap has a running life. Just like every pet and human. All good things come to an end one day. Just replace the components and back to square one.

      They just don't make Caps like they used to. Older equipment seems to last for ever that had better components.

    What’s the temp of you solder gun. I keep trying to get caps off but I’ve messed up a couple of them already by pulling up the leads and as you said, it’s game over then.

    • @mrfishjosh
      @mrfishjosh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The capicators I removed are the same type as I put back in, electrolytic caps. As for where to buy them, not sure where your located but local electronics distributor would be reccomended such as digi-key or Mouser. Quick Google search should bring this up

    They always work after being switched off for a while then they will konk out after a several minutes later,Bose ought to be made responsible for the capacitors repairs as they have put crap components in the sets in the first place I wouldn’t buy anymore of their equipment again.

  • @tigergreg8

    After all that I see here, I'd pitch it in the garbage and get a different radio. Not worth the time and effort thinking I'm fixing it, when it could end up being something else.

    I bought the 3 i have at an American thrift store for less than $20 bucks. Two older models works great, but the newer AWRCC1 model doesn't work paid on $6.99. This Model seems be the Most repaired model on TH-cam Made in USA or it should read Assembled in USA with parts from China or Mexico Assembled by Foreigners. The new Bose are expensive Junk. HSN 🎄 are selling them from October- December with Demo's of Speakers Blowing Out Candles 💨 etc. Its all Smoke & Mirrors
