i got to meet robbie at mcm in London in may and I honestly think he's the sweetest person! he signed my dice case, had a selfie with us and played a game of rollies with us! it was such a fantastic experience :)
Hearing you tell the story about having to wait behind all the pop signers really makes Sam’s crack about getting a pop, signed by Chetney at the end of last weeks episode all that much more funny!! as a fellow lifelong unwilling participant in the Florida experience I am very glad that I have now found your channel.
I was just thinking that too, you can tell it obviously pisses them off too but it must be hard because you don't want to do anything that could piss those people off either.
I saw that poster on Beacon! Nice to get to know the story behind it! I met Sam for an autograph and was surprised by how kind he was. Of course they are friendly, but I didn't expect HOW kind and welcoming during such an exhausting day (imaging having to do that all day long...)
I’m probably just being hormonal but why did this video make me tear up? Thanks for sharing your experience meeting them! They all seem so lovely I hope I’m able to at some point 😭
Matt and Marisha came down to NZ once right at the start of Critical Role. Like, within the first 20 odd episodes. I found out about CR a few years later, and I doubt they’ll come back down.
As a fellow Kiwi all i can say is, wait, what?? Granted i only became a Critter after discovering CR with C2 but still i didn't know that they came here.
@@davidparkes7741if you decide to watch c1, you’ll hear the word Kaitiaki a lot from Keyleth and the Ashari and that’s because Marisha learned that word at Te Papa! It’s an old role in the Māori social structure that was entrusted to make laws around their certain part of nature, whether it was a lake or a mountain or a forest. When I heard it the first time my Māori ears were piqued 😂
@@davidparkes7741 Yeah, I became one when they had started C2 but I started with C1. They’d come down and been at Wellington Armageddon. I suspect that’s where Marisha’s “kaitiaki” came from.
I just randomly found your video, hi! I might be sticking around here I always get nervous when I see things titled like this, but it honestly just makes me so happy to hear people say that they're just as sweet and kind and it seems they are. ❤❤❤ I would probably cry meeting any and all of them, honestly They're also part of the reason I got into dnd, which is how I met most of the friends that I have now. Critical Role has been so important and inspiring for a lot of my life now. I'm also glad to hear you mention that it all started with them playing for Liam's birthday! I feel like no one else knows that 😂❤️
Amazing video, I enjoyed your content and background. Along with you, your husband and many other citters, I too have enjoyed CR's influence throughout the years. I started playing dnd in 1982 and passed that love of dnd to my son. Many years later he introduced me to CR. They were just starting campaign 2 and I would binge-watched campaign 1, while waiting for camp 2 new episodes. I have loved them ever since and I'm still filling my house with their items and content. Thanks for sharing your story.
I remember going to a book signing with Raymond E Feist. He set a rule at the top that he would sign three books and then you go to the back of the line.
I went to an anime convention in Calgary that Matt was at years ago and of course it became all about Critical Role (which is why I went). Campaign 1 was over and they were soon to start campaign 2. The staff didn't let me ask a question about Campaign 1. The question was about when the dragons attacked and the party took massive damage when they got surrounded by ancient dragons and hadn't retreated yet. Grog had rushed in and attacked. I wanted to ask if at the moment he set up the encounter, as a DM, did he have plans for if the players all died? As newer players at the time they wouldn't really have known the full context of how dangerous dealing with the ancient dragon would be but they learned fast after the Green dragon's poison breath and missing despite some really high to hit rolls. But the staff wouldn't let me ask the question because they said it had spoilers. The campaign had been over. That was from episode 39, which was was 76 episodes and 2 years ago. Da hell? Anyway, I got to meet Matt afterwards at his booth. He signed my DM's guide and he was just the nicest person.
i said this earlier but seriously how is this channel not more popular? you're literally GORGEOUS! EVERYTHING about you is amazing, and your skills when it comes to explaining things/editing videos is immaculate! love everything about you and your channel🫶🏻 also i hope you had an amazing time! that sounds so fun💞
I’m autistic and watching this really helped lessen my anxiety over traveling and getting to meet the cast in a future con for the first time. Thanks for posting 😌
Absolutely loved this video! From your editing to your energy, it was a joy to watch throughout :D thank you for sharing your experiences with us and looking forward to you growing into a mega popular content creator cause you're amazing 💜
You aren’t wrong SuperCon was chaotic. It was interesting. I think I remember seeing you two once or twice that weekend. I was shortest the sprinkle. lol
I was actually a SuperCon 2024 with my brother. Was our first time going to a con and also my first time going to Miami (my brothers 2nd time). Lived in Florida our whole lives so it was pretty cool going. We specifically wanted to go to meet the Critical Role cast. Been a fan since 2020. Ended up meeting Anjali Bhimani all three days, Robbie Daymond, and Aimee Carrero on the second day. Such nice people and great conversations. Played rollies with Robbie. They signed a Critical Role jacket I have. On the third day we got to take a group photo with the main cast, except for Marisha because she had to leave. My brother gifted each of them a die and I gifted Matt a metal d20 about the size of my palm. Even though it was only for about a minute that we got to meet them it was probably the best feeling I had having a quick chat with Matt before we posed for the photo. Even had a quick interaction with Laura, which I was super nervous about since she’s one of my biggest celeb crushes. Was the only time we got to meet them during the con but it was honestly such a great time meeting them in person. They truly really do love and care for their fans. Some of the best people I’ve ever met in my life even though it was for such a short time. Really hope to see them at future cons and/or events
i ended up going to the same con! i got to meet all the baldurs gate cast but unfortunately didnt get to meet any of crit role. but it was my first con and it was super fun and i was still so happy to meet the bg3 peeps!!
I was trying to figure out what was causing your backup. At ECCC you had to have a pre-bought ticket for your autograph.Ashey and Matt sold out befoe I could purchase mine but I got everybody else and a photo with the cast over the course of 2 days. Great story glad you had fun.
Sounds like such an awesome experience.🙌 I hope they come down to Australia one day soon. Also, that is an amazing poster! Any chance you could possibly share how to find it, or was it commissioned?
It’s a poster done by Ian MacDonald if my memory serves me right! I bought it off of Sideshow a while back when it first came out! The piece is called “Critical Role: Threads Of Fate”! My fiancé and I bought it as a conjoint Anniversary present to ourselves lol!🖤
Awesome video! Florida resident (gulf side) who wishes I was able to go to a convention. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. Never having been to a con, I had no idea you weren't allowed to take pictures. I see people with TH-cam channels filming at cons all the time. I would feel horrible if I saw people talking disrespectfully about Matthew like the scalpers did. I've always considered the cast one of those special groups of people that heal the world. When Matthew tells us he loves us at the end of each show, you can't help but feel it. The fact the cast is a wonderful group of friends gives a lot of people hope that the world isn't going to heck in a handbasket. 😊
Sorry to hear that you had the security person yell at you in Robbie's line the way you did. Speaking as a person who was director of a larger convention in my home state, this person was not doing their job, yelling and abrasive confrontation is not their job. The folks that are security are always customer facing in convention space, and thus.. they NEED to have customer service skills. In a first approach to a con attendee, they should just ask you to stop recording and delete the footage. Escalation is only needed when called for, not upon first approach.
I’m really sorry you had a negative experience with security. As someone who’s worked events and who also has a problem with being yelled at, I thought I might be able to provide some context. That yelling scene was likely not about you, it was for the benefit of everyone around you. I’m not saying it’s the right approach or even a good one, but it’s one I’ve seen people tasked with protecting others and/or copyrights take. Likely there were hundreds of attendees like you who had no idea that filming is forbidden. Security could tell everyone holding up a phone one by one, or they could tell a room full of people at once and set a president for the weekend by making an example. Again, not saying it’s right. And I’m sorry you went through that. What probably felt pretty personal was likely performative to make a point to onlookers. I’m glad it didn’t ruin everything for you.
Sam even make a bit about the resaling sing funko POP in one of the recent episodes of the show, which to me make it worst, i know they can make fun of it but god you have to be such an asshole to go to an event where the bast mayority of the fandom is ther to meet the amazing people that give them joy and even inspire the to play TTRPG, and deside to essentially use them at the same time you make a worst expirience for everybody by capitalizen the cast time.
no, you were not in the wrong, conventions of public entrance can be considered public. IF you signed a paper saying you would follow rules and not the law, then you're sunk
Couldn't even make it through the first half of the video. As soon as she started talking about people wanting to resell, while she's wearing her pentagram (supposed to symbolize wisdom and knowledge), I just had to click off. Judging people for wanting to get their stuff signed? Incredible, man. What are they charging for these cons anyway? You'd probably have to bring 10 Funko's and get them signed, just to break even. The audacity....
If you would have watched more you would have heard me say I understand people wanting to get things signed. The problem was the fact people were getting 10-20 things signed which was causing the lines to move incredibly slowly and the people getting all those things signed were treating Matt not like a human being, and they had been bragging about how much they made by reselling things the hours we were waiting in line. Please listen to others before jumping to conclusions. Spread knowledge and love not misinformation and hate.
It's funny that in the most recent C3 episode, the CR cast actually made fun of those people who bring tons of Funkos to get signed for resale. Omg, the AUDACITY of people wanting to go to a convention because they're FANS and not because they want to make a profit off the fans' willingness to pay for merch. The sheer nerve of not wanting to wait in line for hours behind people who don't even care about the show.
i got to meet robbie at mcm in London in may and I honestly think he's the sweetest person! he signed my dice case, had a selfie with us and played a game of rollies with us! it was such a fantastic experience :)
