this is one of my favorite episodes simply because getting to see them be goofy and silly with each other and laugh until they're all red in the face is one of life's many joys
"The "Ashley M" who played Dr. Uta Middlebrecht in Sam's Nord VPN ad was Ashley Middlebrook, a producer at Critical Role Productions LLC." this stood on critical roles wikifandom. I hope she comes back sometime tho, she's hilarious@@tessa5233
I honestly wasn't even paying attention to what they were doing on their turns this episode. I was so fixated on the hilarious growing distrust and the pacing around the table lol
Love the polygraph actually showing "lie" results at the right time. Even if it's button controlled, it's great attention to detail. If it's real, even better.
I wonder how much of the trust section was them naturally messing with each other and how much a bit on the card going "Even if you're not a doppelganger, act suspicious."
Alright…so this was one of those fantastic “Critical Role” gem episodes! And you know what…Campaign 3 has been littered with these gem episodes…the Mad Max race…the Odohan massacre…the heist…etc… Campaign 1 was iconic; Campaign 2 had a bit more of a cohesive story… …but Campaign 3 has been delivering some FUN.
Between the legally blonde and Harry Potter references to Travis’ glasses joke they were really out for my ass this episode Just pulling out all my favorite bits
most of us watch critical role, and then watch your videos, long videos aren't a problem. if people want a short recap of the episode from a story side that might be a valid concern, but there are other channels that focus on short recaps. we love you for what you do, big story bits, funny bits, the weird stuff. good bits are awesome. many good bits are more goodly awesome. stay awesome.
@22:04 the look on Ashley's face when Imogen asks Ashton if there was a part of him that he'd like to be in Ferne. Priceless. I can't tell, but it looks like Ashley really blushed.
Oh'no I don't know much about Bolo I just know it was a character created by Brennan based on not so good Hollywood stereotypes and I could just hear the monotonous "I'm BOLO"
Best episode of the campaign, because all it took was one fun mechanic from Matt, the doppelganger cards. That's how to play a TTRPGame, kids, well done as always Matt! :)
Thanks for highlighting that short moment between Ashton and Imogen, their more quiet friendship over the campaign doesn't show up that much but, when it does, it's always very sweet. Love your videos.
Hopefully Ashton & Fearne use their titan forms in the next encounter... I'm still waiting on seeing what Chetney got from the Gorgynei and Fearne's boon from the Dread Captain.
Ms RayGun, I would like to request you stop spying on me. How else would you know that my day was so legendarily shitty and the best medicine was eight weirdos playing fantasy amogus for thirty minutes in all actuality, though, thank you again
They really do. At 18:24 it’s not Laura breaking character to ask Liam, it’s Laura as Laura asking Liam in a very beloved way if he’s the doppelgänger. Like a little sister asking her older brother, and he feeds into her innocent question by answering mischievously. Their energy is so fun to watch.
FYI they were quoting a scene from the first Harry Potter film at at 15.24 ("she's going to sacrifice herself" "no you cahnt". there is a whole scene that's cringeworthy and they acted out those lines and a couple more in the episode. I was dying :D
Easiest way to check was to as Imogen and Laudna who they wanted to officiate their wedding. If either of them said they never considered marrage/life together, bam! Instant doppelganger.
I finally got around to watching this episode last night while on vacation with my mom. I had my headphones in while she was watching tv so it was a genuine struggle not to burst out laughing at random points
"But Liam said it in a more masculine voice" Laura busts out laughing, and so did I. It's funny because it's true, and it shouldn't be, but it is, so I am glad they can laugh about it.
I really really hope fearne and ashton end up together by the end of the campaign now, it's one of my favorite ships. I know some people have now called a little "arranged marriagey" but I still think it's really cute lol.
I'm gonna go against the whole amogus stream and say there are a lot of other good social deduction games out there - for anyone looking for one IRL, try The Resistance, for example. That's pretty much exactly what this is without the whole RP map thing. ^^
@@benpurcell4935 Yeah, there are quite a few good ones out there! ^^ While I get how Among Us have become a cultural phenomenon, it's frustrating to see it bury other good games. :)
I love the immediate transition from "Fearne is a doppelgänger" to "Ashley Johnson herself is a doppelgänger"
I went through the whole thing going, “this is just Fearne being Fearne” solidified after the question from Orym.
@@dubbingsync "You have to take Fearne at her word" but you can NEVER take her at her word XD Insight checks don't work on Fearne you never know
"She's a really good actor!" - Laura Bailey, BAFTA award winning actress to Ashley Johnson, BAFTA award winning actress.
Ashley's and Marisha's awkwardness really did them no favors in looking innocent. LOL
this is one of my favorite episodes simply because getting to see them be goofy and silly with each other and laugh until they're all red in the face is one of life's many joys
Uta Middlebrecht is an icon and I hope she comes back and we find out she has a million jobs in the Sam Riegel Cinematic Ad Universe
*Looks at polygraph* True.
Time for another meta ad where they show previous ads and she's actually in the background of every single one of 'm? 👀
Who actually is she though😅
@@tessa5233 I was wondering the same thing! What we can say for certain though is that whoever she is she's definitely hilarious.

Marisha's 'Yeah, Ashley' is so goddamn funny in context lol.
FCG smoking a cigarette will never not be funny
I love the hand shaking too. He's soooo funny.
"That was crazy back there" absolutely killed me 😂 he must have firsthand experience with a heavy smoker because he nailed the mannerisms.
It’s not even a real cigarettes like a bullet casing

the plants freaking out at the fire reminded me of matt playing traumatized goats 😂
Same! The "THEY KILLED JERRY!" vibes lol
Ashley’s whole vibe in this episode:
“I don’t look suspicious.”
She said, *suspiciously*
i know this trial was gonna be good as soon as Marisha dropped "that's exactly what not Orym would want to not do"
Sam's "I was crazy back there" was 1000% "teacher smoking in the teachers' office after yelling way too much at their students" 😂
8:12 Taliesen didn't walk over there, he just appeared there like usual.
And it wasn't a teleport neither. He was already there and universe didn't notice him until then.
I wonder how much of the trust section was them naturally messing with each other and how much a bit on the card going "Even if you're not a doppelganger, act suspicious."
Let’s hope it’s brought up on the next 4 sided dive.
The brambles in this episode really should have a word with Henry Crabgrass.
Consent please
This episode felt so much like them just having a game night built into D&D. A joy to see them goofing off.
Poor Liam: "he's smirking with his eyebrows!"
This episode makes me wanna see a let's play of Among Us from them. And I feel like Travis would won as imposter, every time. 😂
I really wish they'll play among us, or at the very least play werewolf
They played werewolf on a recent 4 sided dive, it was a lot of fun!
12:16 I love that Laura nearly missed a step when Marisha told her she smells good

Listen, Ashley has been trying to romance Talisien in game since the first campaign and now it might actually happen????
"Here's to old damage, may we all get the fuck over it"
Why is it always Tal with the killer lines?
God I've never seen Sam laugh so much, so hard during an episode in a LONG time!
As I commented on the actual episode, I will repeat myself here.
Uta Middlebrecht is the new Bolo from Aeor. 😂

14:10 I absolutely love the mixture of confusion and surprise in Matts face when they started singing
The "behind the action" shenanigans this episode were off the charts, thank you for pointing out all this nonsense
Such a fun episode. It was great to see Marisha and Sam especially having such a fun time, just constantly cracking up.
Thanks for highlighting that short moment between Ashton and Imogen, their more quiet friendship over the campaign doesn't show up that much but, when it does, it's always very sweet. Love your videos.
I love the implication that anyone out here actually wants videos under 30 minutes when we're just thrilled you're doing what you're doing
17:02 as one of the many random Matts that was briefly heartbroken over this, I humbly request the rest of y’all poor one out.

I fucking CALLED IT! I KNEW there'd be no imposter!
Love that you put subtitles for the background interactions❤
today on critical role: one big episode of amongus
I can't get over how good Laura looks with her hair like that. ❤
Anyone else convinced that "Uta Middlebrecht" is an anagram for something?
Apparently she's a producer for Crit Role named Ashley Middlebrook, so it's just a German play on her name lol
I've been binging through C3 to fully catch up and I finally watched this one last night. My cheeks hurt form laughing so hard, this was fantastic!
7:46 nothing gets me more than Sam's expression changing the second after he heard Marisha.
i've rewatched this so many times, the chaos is just pure serotonin
Pass the bowl man was so slick. Liams great

Did Travis also mistakenly quote "A Thousand Miles," and not realize? Cause that is hilarious.
18:44 Liam and Laura have such sibling energy!! :)

Dangit, i thought it was gonna end with Ashton faceplanting on the ground cause he forgot he was on top of a tree
funny thing is that hyper rage isnt new, he used it like 10 episodes ago
edit: and on episodes 24, 41 and 46, this is old old

Super Saiyan Fearne and Titan Shifter Ashton!
What would Ash's Titan codename be? I feel like "The Raging Titan" would be a little bit too obvious, "The Rocky Titan"? "The Shattered Titan"? 👀
Easiest way to check was to as Imogen and Laudna who they wanted to officiate their wedding. If either of them said they never considered marrage/life together, bam! Instant doppelganger.

I haven’t been able to catch the full streams in a long time, so thank you SO much for putting these together.
I think I figured out there were no dopplegangers around the time fern fell into the brambles.
I lost it during speak with plants when they suddenly go "ahhh!! they're burning!!"
MICHELLE BRANCH WAS MY CHILDHOOD
Thanks for another edition of "guess i slept through this" news
I swear I missed all these background moments this episode lmao
thank you so much for your uploads! this really cheered by day up :D
This episode was pretty much what happens the day before students go on winter break.
sam getting flashbacks of nott being silenced
These trust tests will be added to TTRPG lore, its a way to bond your party with humor. Use only with real friends,
This was SUCH a good birthday episode
It would've been clever if none of them were actually doppelgangers initially, and the doppelgangers showed up later during a different test.
Travis pulling a Jack Nicholson from “The Departed” was pretty amusing. XD
another gas leak episode lol love it
Once you play this at 0.5x you never go back
So....was anyone the doppleganger ?
nope
9:10 the three of them are those kids in class that just shoot the shit for the entire period 😂😂😂😂
i totally missed Ashley saying "nice!" at the Nat 20 in the middle of Sam and Marisha accusing her that just killed me
