Just wanna throw my 2 cents out there as an artist myself in which I do have to write lyrics but I've always had the strong feeling that trying to get rid of or mitigate writers block is not the best idea. It's totally ok and normal and not giving yourself extended breaks over long periods of time can and does in some people lead to complete burnout. However I do understand the frustration in dealing with it

56 minutes of you yapping! You have such a good eye for aesthetics and lighting. [I love the intro shot with the morning/dawn lighting and you in the car with the lighting is such a vibe.] Your hair looks gorgeous, and I really love the fact that you had your sister do it. ALSO, yes, I’m a huge fan of audiobooks, and I feel like it helps when I’m sketching or doing things. Using speech-to-text to write is so interesting. I think I could try it more! I didn’t think this was a method of writing that could work well. Also, the fact that people can get 10,000 words using text-to-speech blows my mind. I guess you REALLY need to get into a good flow, because for me, it’s so easy to get distracted with this type of writing. When I’m telling a story, I feel like I’m telling a story to a person, and so it’s easy for my dialogue to get choppy. So it’s really easy to get chaotic, and it gets overwhelming to handle while I have to focus on speaking and delivery. I found it really difficult to do dialogue and dynamic interaction between characters because there are so many things happening that you have to think about, so I pause a lot. [It’s almost like you need to be a good actor, thinking about gestures and emotions.] I have to constantly switch into the character I’m talking as, which was really challenging, but it helped me have more perspective on the character. I think this process, I won’t ever be efficient at, especially improvising on the spot, but I will still adopt it because talking out loud can help a lot with figuring out pacing, acting, and getting into how the actors could act (body language, emotions, and stuff). I like seeing the vlog-style elements. It’s really nice; it helps me appreciate the process and journey more and reminds me to take better care of myself and others around me. Looking forward to more content from you!

Speaking of audio books, will you be publishing your novel as an audiobook as well as physical/digital copy?

My husband and I are near Ft. Worth so Scarborough is our 'home fair' (closer to Dallas but still the closest one to us). But I love TRF. We try to go the last weekend bc it's a 3 day weekend and it's such a long drive for us, that gives us the chance to do 2 days. It's also cooler (temp wise) but I also love all the decorations (it's Celtic Christmas weekend). (We've also been to Sherwood and I think it's pretty cool. Small campground though. Get there early if you go!) Oh, about TRF being the biggest. I think when it comes to land size, the festival itself is large enough but the campground is 200+ acres!) And I've only seen one video of a Renaissance Fair/Festival outside of the US (Australia) and it was pretty small (I think it's first year) so it might just be a US thing. I would think the UK countries would have them, but I haven't seen any.

The other two popular Ren Faires in Texas are Scarborough Faire about 30 minutes from Dallas. Sherwood Forest Faire that is near Austin.

(This includes the rest of the trilogy “Girls of Storm and Shadow” and “Girls of Fate and Fury”)

Yes!! We love Houston RenFest! It was always my childhood fall thing. It’s so much fun and I think I got spoiled with having such a great and large RenFest. On that note: you’re totally right that they do only proclaim largest in the US, but no other festival worldwide says they’re larger, so they might well be the world’s largest. The only one with anything close seems to be the Minnesota Ren Fair, but they only operate for less than half as long (it’s really similar to how their state fair is really great, but only a few weekends compared to Texas’ #1). Otherwise, because of the contestation by technicality and because Minnesota’s is not as lively, I’d say it’s the biggest overall. I didn’t get to go this year, but I miss it so much.

I am a gm(and player once in a blue moon), started in 86', and forward, when i can make time. My honest opinion on roleplaying groups, is that you keep a good atmosphere at the table, and make room for everyone, (all people are different, and that is a asset more than it is a minus), more times than not, the group will be a success, foster trust, and cooperation, and chances are that you will take more than just the experience from a session, but also a handful of new friends(if playing with people who does not know each other from the getgo). Also, zero politics, and RL issues should worm it's way into a game, a roleplaying game should be a escape from the idiocies of our everyday lives. Great vid, cudos! 😀

Keep more eye contact with the camera, maybe keep the script slightly above the lense? It didn't bother me, but i noticed that you look aside alot. Completely agree on the reasons given why Mercer is in fact DM'ing well! What impresses me about Mercer is the empathetic listening and interaction he keeps going. Thats what I try to do as well. I am personally not at all interested in the acting aspect of Critical Role, because the acting does not get me interested. The acting out roles is just a nice little extra flavour that can be added but that I don't want to do nearly as much as CR does, because I find it makes the game too slow for my taste and I want the story to progress faster than, say, a movie or play.

I think Lorelai was emotionally immature only, but that doesnt mean she wasnt business mature. Idk how to say it 😂 yes she got her degree, she opened her own business and she was very focused that way but somehow emotionally she remained a teenager. By no means am I judging her, i get it though. All of these characters needed therapy, especially our beloved 3 Gilmore girls. Also, for anyone who hasn't watched Kelly Bishop sit down with Lauren Graham i urge you to do so, it's free on YT. Kelly is such a sweetheart , absolutely adorable ❤

Bit off-topic. If you are interested in Call of Cthulu at some point, I encourage you to watch Chaotic Neutral's "The Yellow Sign of the Four", NRB/CHaotic Neutral had played Call of Cthulu before a couple times, and they very good at it, but this one in particular is in my opinion they're best one, the level of acting and improvising, and the payoff at the end, everything is just perfect, it really shows what can be done in CoC. Love your thoughts and explanations. We have a similar intro to how we fell in love with DnD and Critical Role. I got lucky and found a group that really loves RP (as well as exploration and combat). The DM was worried bc he doesn’t do voices and we were like “we don’t care, you’re amazing!” lol. The only thing I wish is i could find some people IRL that play DnD and prefer more RP with exploration and combat still there but not as big. I like how you pointed out that there’s no wrong way! I worried for a while I was not an ideal player bc i love RP and learning everyone’s stories. But then finding an online group with the same vibes showed me it’s okay to like that, and it’s okay if people prefer combat and such. Everyone has a different cup of tea. Great video!

The Big Bang Theory especially is very bad in its portrayal of D&D specifically and nerd/geek culture in general. They look at is as something to be laughed at or looked down upon, and deride instead of celebrate and uplift the hobby imo. I really hate the show when initially I used to find it funny. Personally I always hated CR and always thought it was overrated but I give Mercer and CR credit for getting more people in the hobby, even though 5e is not my favorite version of the game.

I really like your point about how pressuring your child is very easy to do without meaning to. It seems very plausible that Lorelai pressured Rory to have a big academic career because Lorelai never got to (and Lorelai also wants to prove her parents wrong a little, too, I think). While Lorelai doesn't let men affect her life, I also think she tries to stop boys from affecting Rory almost too much, to the point where Rory struggles to develop her own independent skills in that arena. Lorelai has huge problems with all three of Rory's main love interests (while she likes Dean in the middle of his story, she really disliked him in the beginning and end) and really has trouble letting Rory make mistakes to learn from them. I think this is a pretty big factor in why Rory loses control with boys so drastically after leaving home.

I love this deep dive! Gilmore girls is so inspiring to me in my writing because the characters flaws align with their life stories, and the choices they make align who they really are. Though this could be seen as boring and predictable it's actually just so real to life, and it feels like their real people. This is the first video of yours I've watched, but I'll be looking forward to more. <3

I enjoyed your take and video. Only one bit of constructive criticism would be to have your notes and camera in the same direction as it is a little distracting for the audience. Definitely your video makes me want to do a rewatch soon.
