I just shot my 12 gauge shockwave for the first time today. It’s extremely accurate for the size, and the recoil is almost nothing. The talon grip is amazing. Absolutely love this “firearm”

I live in Canada and we have shotguns like these non restricted for years . because Canadians cant have guns dont you know lmao. in some ways its easier to get firearms here than it is in the states. out restrictions are just different
Max had a shorty side by side not a pump action, at least in the movies I saw. I've always wanted to make myself one, legally of course, but I've never gotten around to it.
At least we can still get 50 BMG bolt action rifles since they're classified under cat A and B licenses...I saw a HS 50 M1 last year on sale at the rosehill racecourse gun show for 11k...the scope alone was 6k lol

"Shooting without aiming" is something I enjoy practicing with all my guns. In a self-defense situation, under tremendous sudden stress, you may not be able to acquire your preferred stance, raise your gun perfectly, aim carefully, then shoot. You may need to pull and shoot instantaneously -- instinctively. I've got pretty good at it and feel more confident as a result.
Ricky Pastille You should read "kill or be killed" be rex applegate. It's entirely about shooting in situations where traditional aiming isn't possible/practical.

I just found out about these things. It’s a fantasy firearm for me. I mean I’m not really a shotgun guy but I always wanted legal alternative to a sawed off. Honestly 100% for the look. It just looks really cool. With every other firearm I have an interest in I care more about reliability and accuracy.

The Nfa is a good thing. The tax, wait and higher prices keep them out of the hands of gangbangers.

The only effect that the NFA has on criminal types is that it gives them something to laugh at, which ought to improve their dispositions, but usually doesn't. The rest of us can make do with what the overlords allow us. I suspect that the Mossberg Shockwave is officially designated as a "pistol," so you can't put a shoulder stock on it. If you did it would officially become a "sawed off shotgun" and the Federales would swoop in.
It's officially just a "firearm". A pistol would require a rifled barrel, like the Taurus Judge. This is very detrimental to a dedicated shotgun, as it spins the shot and drastically increases the spread.
The only manner in which the NFA limits the weapons criminals have is by limiting the total numbers in circulation that can be stolen or otherwise diverted. Most criminals aren't filling out 4473s, so extra paperwork is redundant.
Before Chuck Norris goes to sleep, he checks under his bed for Hickok45.

It's also a GREAT backpack gun for camping and hiking bc once you practice you can take down birds rabbits squirrels etc super easily but also have some slugs or heavy buckshot for something bigger for defense.
I can say this thing WILL kill a good sized hog with 00 buckshot as well so for such a small profile it makes a great option if you don't mind taking the time to learn to handle it

Recently purchased one of these. After running 40 rounds through it the first time out, I admit it does take some practice getting used to, but it's gobs of fun. I have one with a red dot. Overkill and awesome. I also have a keltec ksg with a howitzer 70 muzzle break. Omg so bad ass. Punk ass gangmembers beware. Try a home invasion on me well your whole crew will be dismembered in 2 shots

I’ve been planning on getting this. I backpack for weekends, and often I’m in bear country. I already have a 500. I love the thing, but I prefer my Mossberg with its current outfit. ATI pistol grip, and AR-style adjustable stock with a Vortex Venom red dot on it. It never leaves my bedside. And rather use that, maybe, i could buy the shockwave. Load it up with slugs, and have a nice smaller firearm with serious stopping power. I don’t hunt, but I’d rather not be hunted either.

@Ben Menzies what i’m about to say is what i know to my knowledge. having a full auto weapon of any kind in the US is illegal in all 50 states. unless you are a company w/ a class III license tht meets certain(yet hard) criteria. some gov agencies or special forces operator units are capable of using them but other than tht no. AK47’s are legal here, for now atleast until sleepy joe wakes up😂 they did put certain bans in place in the late 1900’s(now when being imported they have to have a certain amount of American parts before they’re legal) but you can still buy them legally regardless. seeing as you have one tht isn’t full auto which some were. you can find videos of full auto on here from the US but it’s a federal charge. not worth it to most ppl unless u live in Chiraq😂(there was and probably still is a problem w/ glock full auto switches in chicago)

@817trey One does not have to have an FFL to own a full auto firearm as long as it was made before the 1986 ban. It’s a Form 4 purchase and a $200 tax stamp the same as with a muffler, SBS, SBR.

The 20 gage pump shockwave 5 plus 1 loaded with 00 buck is the perfect home defense platform. This gun is accurate up to 15 yards. It is 100% reliable. And it is fun fun fun to shoot.

The shotgun in T2 was an old lever action - not a pump - which at least in the film, allowed him to cycle it one handed. Whether that would work reliably in real life is open to question.

I love these little shotguns. Huge power in a little package. And they're fun to shoot, the recoil feels so nice.
This thing is not impractical. It's a perfect close range self-defense gun. Light, short, easy to maneuver, and plenty of firepower to make any would-be robbers think thrice about their life choices. And at short ranges, the possible accuracy loss from not having a stock is moot.

It's obviously not as accurate, and obviously doesn't propel the shot as fast, but it's fun, and that's everything that matters. It was not meant to be anything else other than a 'toy' for adults.
Just picked my Shockwave 590 12 Gauge up today from Birmingham Pistol Wholesale in Trussvile Alabama. Been wanting one for a while,but everyone has been out of stock and the ones who have had it have been asking crazy prices for it. I ended up paying with tax $518. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to shoot it because of severe storms all day. I have a question though, I'm 6'1 and weigh around 160 so I'm not a big guy, so I'm worried about it having too much recoil with some double alt buckshot. Do I need to wait until my OPSol Mini Clip 2.0 Flex adapter comes in and just use mini shells or am I worrying for nothing? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have the 20 ga version. It's a great fun gun but it also can serve for self defense. You just need to practice a bit with it to know where it shoots. If you hold it up to your eyes and aim, it will shoot more or less right on. If you shoot from the hip, I think you'll find that it's shooting high. So, obviously, aim a bit low. My 20 ga shoots a very narrow path. In other words, you can actually miss with this gun if you're shooting at something small. The lesson is that you should learn how to use it. Also, very important: Don't take off the strap. This IMHO is a vital safety feature. When you shoot this gun, your forward hand is very close to the business end of the barrel. Keep your hand in the strap.
that makes a lot of sense mate, christ it would be a bad day to blow a hand off with this ! do you find variations of bird shot weight shoot different pattens with it ? is it cylinder choke ?

I use mine for my duffel bag long distance hole puncher. It fits perfectly with 2-diverse bandoliers of 52-rounds each. The 6-round side saddle is nice too.
I got a double sling bag. One with the shock and the other side a ksg. 2 bad ass guns in 1 fast back sling

For fun, I like firing 3" slugs out of my 14" barreled Shockwave. Pretty violent. Puts a smile on my face every time. Ended up getting a shooting glove though, because even with the Talon grip tape, that tang safety still chews me up pretty good.

The ATF cleared up the shouldering the brace thing yesterday. They say it is ok with the SB Tactical brace now.

I finally got to shoot my shockwave. Truly a badass firearm.
I bought a Shockwave as my first shotgun and then I saw a video saying " probably shouldn't be your first shotgun". It is a beast, but you get used to it.
Is the strap for attaching it to the handlebars?
i think it would also mitigate recoil: the barrel flips up, but the strap keeps the front of the gun under control - not a bad idea if you're a little bit freaked out by someone waking you up with hostile intent. i actually think this is a good idea. in a panicky situation (which could happen), this would be useful. i would not remove it.
They are nice, but I think I would trade it out for a Magpul fore-end and add a light by my thumb & a LaserLyte center mass laser.... I been wanting to make one of these myself for a minute, I'm surprised Mr. Hicock wasn't aware folks had been doing this for a minute. I'd be interested to know who first "discovered" this and what the whole story was.. But yeah, you have to have a virgin receiver or one that has only ever had a pistol grip, it can't have ever had a stock attached, and overall length has to be over 26", people add the raptor, aka birdshead grips because it adds more inchs to the overall lenght, but also it helps mitigate the recoil. Love love love these shotties. I think I'd use a Rem 870 tho...
I'd use a different forend and just put a handstop in tho, like that center mass laser that's out

Hickok45, I came back to tell you that I just bought this 590 Shockwave, because of this video from 4 years ago. I have read and seen a lot of reviews of people claiming it was junk, inaccurate, etc. But after watching you smoking pot with it, I was sold. I don't know what those other reviews were trying to accomplish with it, since it is a single purpose gun.
My plans for it are for home defence, but more specifically for keeping it in a scabbard on my motorcycle and as a car gun.
