Great video, well presented and a super clean and good looking CAAD12 build. Well done. Looking FWD to more vids from you as am a recent CAAD9 owner after lusting after an Alloy Cannondale for about 20years :-)
Super clean looking bike for a 2016. You've really taken good care of her! I too have a 2016 bike, a Cube Attain GTC Race and she doesnt look even half as clean as your cannondale! We have done a lot of miles together and I dont think i've ever babied or doted on her too much. Shes done multiple Dunwich Dynamo's and many other club rides of the same distance. Had to overhaul her drive train last year and get a new wheelset as everything was really worn and the rims on the wheels had cracks. All that set me back around £1000 because the drive train components were in such sort supply. second hand parts on ebay were selling for retail prices! I did manage to get everything sorted in the end thankfully but it wasnt cheap. People still ask my why i didnt just sell the bike or throw it away and buy a new one. But you cant get a full carbon bike with full ultegra spec for £1000 unless it was second hand.
@SaberTigerLover ~ recently upgraded this bike to Dura Ace and then proceeded to crash it at speed. Hope to get it running again next year. I was riding 10,000km a year before the crash and had to upgrade parts quite often that’s why I guess it looked good. 😂 Thanks for your comment!
@@BikeLife154 Crazy how your frame looked virtually new with so much use! In any case, it sounds like you as well as the bike are fine after the unfortunate accident. As much as i enjoy being out and about, the most I do is around 4000km a year due to other commitments. I think the next thing for my bike would be a new set of carbon hoops.
Yeah I liked them, but they’re now gone. Got so sick of the bb30 creaking. Now have a Hambini bb with Dura Ace cranks. A bit heavier but my life is quieter 😂
@@faosa73 hey, sorry I’ve only just seen this! Loctite is usually used on Carbon frames to hold the bearings in. They don’t recommend it with aluminium frames and aluminium cups/ bearings. So, to answer your question, no I didn’t. I really liked the Cannondale cranks though. For me the only flaw was bb30a on the whole bike! I will never sell this bike!
CAADs are extremely special to me. I have a 2004 CAAD5, 2016 CAAD8 and an 2016 CAAD12. I have only one of them built up at once and keep the others as frames and swap them every few months to keep it fun. I have owned every S-works out there but nothing's as good looking and fun to ride to me as a CAAD. Supersix (older rim brake ones) is a close second. The modern bikes with crazy sloping top tubes can suck it. They all look like tame endurance bikes to me in comparison to the super aggressive CAAD. Totally agreed on CAAD13. 12 and below is where it's at!
@@BikeLife154 Oh no!! So sorry to hear about that! I think I saw another video of you talking about it but didn't put the 2 and 2 together. I hope you're back up and running in no time! Well better yet I'll sub to your channel and follow the progress :)
Nice setup! I have the same frame and been thinking about getting Hunt wheels. Was thinking of getting the 45’s but the 36’s look really good, suit the thin geometry well.
Thanks Ian! The Hunt wheels are a great wheelset, but since I bought them last year they’ve increased in price by $300! I’m not sure I would have paid that much for them. I’ve got some Scribe 65s coming at the end of August and having a pair of their Race D’s on my CaadX already I would be inclined to recommend them more. At $1000 for a carbon wheelset of any depth and free worldwide delivery they represent a much better deal imo. Thanks for commenting!
Thank you very much. I am going to do another look at this bike after spring starts showing the different look these days, and some what I consider upgrades! Stay tuned!
Love your bike. Have a similar bike too except mine is Black Ink. The only problem with the bike is the terrible design of its creaking bb30. Still haven't figured out how to get rid of the noise permanently.
Yeah, it’s the one negative of Cannondale, but the frame itself is amazing! If you look at some other videos I’ve done you will see I’ve replaced the bb30a with a Hambini Racing BB and Dura Ace crankset. I’ve done close to 2000km now and it’s out of this world!!! I would highly recommend the one piece Hambini BB! I will never sell this bike now! Thanks for the comment!
Great video. Quick question: if you were to switch out the front tyre for a 25mm, would there be plenty clearance? The Hunt wheels have a wide inner width so I’m wondering how it would affect clearances. I don’t particularly ride on flat smooth roads so clearance is pretty important for me to consider before buying those wheels. Thanks in advance
Before you buy Hunt look at Scribe Cycling! I own a set of each and the Hunts are good, but the Scribes are great. Better hubs and spokes and cheaper! I just ordered another set of Scribe wheels myself because they are such good quality and value.
You are very fortunate! I no longer have any creaking because I removed the BB30 and Am now running Dura Ace cranks with a one piece bb. I did like the Si cranks though. They were impressive!
Question about the tires, I'm thinking of getting the tubeless version but, not sure about the puncture protection. How was your ride with them so far? Nice bike BTW!
Hi there. They are really a dry weather summer tyre, but here in Korea recently the weather has been dry and cold so I have ridden almost 500km on them with no problems! Mine are the clincher version and have been ridden in some wet weather through grit and small stones without any punctures. The tubeless version is 20-30g heavier which probably means even better puncture protection and more substantial side walls. Overall they are great tyres, but they are more delicate than say, a vittoria Corsa. I would have no hesitation buying the tubeless version. Hope that helps!
I have used Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR Tubeless Tire for 7000 Km and only had One Puncture on the road that too cause of the Valve leakage. unfortunately there was no sealant in the tyre otherwise that would have plugged itself too.
Funny you should mention the Hylix because I’ve already been looking at that! What are your impressions of the seat post? I fluctuate between 68-70kg. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
@@BikeLife154 Overall good quality. Carbon cradle, aluminium yokes, titanium bolts and thin carbon seatpost. I have the one with no setback. I have ridden mine for ca 4000km and had no problems with it so far. You are even lighter than me. Just go for it.
Cannondale and creaking go together! I had a lot of creaking when I first bought the bike, but for about 3 years I had a C-bear bb in there and it stopped. It started again recently and I now have a Hambini Race bb in there with Shimano cranks. It’s transformed the bike! Can’t recommend Hambini BBs enough!
I love the classic flat top tube look of the CAAD bikes. Real shame about them dropping the seat stays on the latest one, looks gash!
I love my CAAD12 as well. perfect geometry and style.
It certainly is a great bike! I’ve had a love/hate relationship with it over the years, but love it these days! Thanks for the comment!

I agree about the bb30. The only downside of the CADD. I love mine, I'm not super gentle with my bikes so I like having the alloy frame.
