Finally. I've been grandpa chic since I was little and now my time has come..
Grandpa Chic could also be called "Gentleman classic". A gentleman would have a substantial wood desk, a thick wood kitchen table, a dark green or brown leather sofa or chair, decor fabrics in classic men's suit fabrics and design, a real Persian carpet, darker real wood floors, and original oil paintings. . This design makes sense, and is comfortable to live with, and easy to maintain. It is intelligent design because it is longlasting, personal, and is beautiful , natural, and warm.
I could not have said it better… It’s completely timeless
I agree with you but it doesn't help me to like this interior:)
Friendly Gentleman, perhaps
Well, it looks like my style of 30 years is right back on trend. When you’re older and you have pain issues all you want is comfortable.
Very English Country / Ralph Lauren - this has been a classic in US & British homes for generations . Love it !!
Well I am a grandpa so this design trend seems to be right up my alley!
This is so Restoration Hardware/ Ralph Lauren style. Big, comfortable, and dark. Love it.
Glad you like it!
Aha! My home is back in style! ❤❤❤
Lol...me too!
The menswear influence, always classic!
“Grandpa chic”. You are KILLing me😆. Yes, I’ve heard the term before. It’s a beautiful library. It’s a manly study. Cheers.
Ralph Lauren has been doing this style for years. He is the ultimate Chic Grandpa.
If you look at ralph lauren, everything he does is brown leather, tweed, velvet, stripe, floral , tartan, and something bumpy, and brass
@@ladykemma3 Something bumpy? You mean in terms of fabric -like a cable knit?
@@ladykemma3 "Tired"
Ralph Lauren's thing is a big, fat-striped navy and beige pillow with a large floral print immediately adjacent. And some dufas standing around in a moto jacket. It looks like a prep school got seasick in a rowboat. This trend is nothing like Lauren.
This collected aesthetic is my vibe for our AZ remodel. Everything is vintage, second-hand, consignment, etc. It's me. My friends all have 'southwest glam' style homes where they bought everything new from a Scottsdale showroom. It's beautiful but has no soul. My house has soul and a cozy factor. Layers, old, new, wood, texture, textiles, zellige tils, antiques, etc. FB Marketplace treasures throughout. Everything has story. Love it! Great video!!
In these crazy times a cozy space is like a a hug.
LOVE THIS! This makes sense since this style emanates classic comfort, security, and strength. When living through uncertain times, surrounding ourselves with security, familiarity, and comfort would be only natural!
I'm renovating a 1934 bungalow, so the timing for this couldn't be more perfect!!
Oh, thank God! Warmer, cozier, with actual beauty incorporated into a room.
This is the first trend in quite awhile that I can get behind on. It fits perfectly my personality for darker and richer colors and fabrics. It makes me want to charcoal and get a new/old media console and end tables. I love the thought of pin stripe fabrics! May be a couple of pillows to start. Keep up the excellent work!
You guys are gonna 🤎LUV this new trend that's TIMELESS! Tell me down below with a YEAH! if you're feelin' this FAB new direction for your home! AND, you can GET THE LOOK in the description! And thank you SO much to our sponsor, Betterhelp!
Where can I find the link to the items in the video?
I LOVE this trend! Wonderful video, as always!
Thank you so much!
I use many of the design elements of grandpa design, but I call my style Spice Road, elements from British Colonial, Chinese and classic comfy scale. Nina Campbell is my go to inspiration.
LUV her, too!
British Colonial is my style. So happy to hear someone else mention BC.
As a man, I did this before I heard Grandpa chic bc of the grand millennial and granny chic trends, but w a masc vibe and element, but also mixed w other styles and I love it.
Nicely done. I appreciate you great taste and enthusiasm and Grandpa Chic is awesome.
I'm so happy to see something other than Japandi, minimalism, contemporary, MCM, and Scandi. They're lovely styles but I'm tired of seeing so much of them for so long. I think these micro trends may become people developing their own eclectic style mixtures much ore so than in the past now that people have become more style conscious.
I totally agree!👍🏻
I love those styles, but for my little house, with my husband and our hobbies, like my quilting, it is difficult to maintain.
We've all come through a rough three years. This design trend is just what the doctor ordered!
Oooo, it reminds me of Ralph Lauren but not too fussy. Or Luke Havekes design. Comfy, classy, colorful.
YES!! Finally! I love this look and I’m soo appreciative of your ideas and explanations of this look. I love the comfort and warmth of this look. Thanks, Lisa! 😊✌🏼
You are so welcome!
Love, love that style. It is cozy, warm, inviting and brings peace - Thanks for sharing another good video. - Rosalind -
Totally agree 👍🏼 thanks for commenting 🙌🏻
*Yeah, I'm finally going to be "on trend" with my bedroom re-fresh* . SW Naval accent wall, Behr leather work, plaid, leather, Ralph Lauren inspired nightstand and lamps. Love it!
Sounds great!
I love watching your posts Lisa. You're so professional and a great teacher! Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Okay, on one hand, I’ve been using a similar phrase as my North Star for my decor for years and am excited to get more details. I’m another hand, I don’t want it to be a trend that comes and goes.
Lovely style and fits right in with all the thrifty finds. The frills are gone, but not the thrills.
Just when I think I couldn't love you and your content more! Now you talk about the importance to therapy! Amazing!
Thank you for saying that! I was just being honest and hoped it came across authentic- I was so thrilled to have them as a sponsor 🙂🙌🏻
Yesssss!!!!! This is my 2024 vibe...Thank you for giving it a name!
You are so welcome!🤗
Wow i love this design style it is like sitting before the fireplace wine in hand! Thank you Lisa the way you explain things is really fantastic!
Thank you so much!
I like seeing the different examples of style. I have difficulty with different pieces that don't have a central theme. This helps! Thank you Lisa!
100% my home. A little hygge, authentic taxidermy (great for stories), woodstove, leather furniture, moody colors, kind of cabin-like. Always get compliments for being cozy, and men always compliment it too! So much more welcoming than many "feminine" styles where you're scared to wear shoes or set down a glass.
I can get into Grandpa Chic! I’m glad I invested in my rich brown leather coach a few year back! Im excited for 2024!🤓
Couch
Me too!!🎉
I am so about the Grandpa Chic transitional look! I just bought 2 light brown leather chairs for my living room and was moving that way already. Love it!
I'm an artist and I've been painting abstract landscapes to fit in this kind of design and I can't paint them quick enough, so many buyers right now. I think the look is a nice change from Instagram pic ready spaces.
Love the mental health focus too! Great video.
OMG! Are you psychic? This is EXACTLY how we are trying to move our style from traditional to transitional in a masculine way. I cant wait to get started with Inner Circle! I'm just pulling all the details together.
I GOT you!!!
We are going to have lots of fun! The table at 4:04 in your video is a Victorian Loo Table. In the 1930's, people were buying these and having the center section removed to create a coffee table - like our coffee table (including the little wheels on the feet)!!!! It will be a key player in the design.
Yeah, this is my style. Stopped the exterminator in his tracks the other day. He said- it's not gray or beige! It doesn't look "suburban", its masculine. My style is very my Ralph lauren Duke of Devonshire style
This is what I’ve been trying to achieve for a long time. The concept was in my head, but I couldn’t make it appear in real life. Something always seemed off. Now I have a clearer structure how to achieve it. I may not be too far off! Thank you!
stuff is back. Hallelujah !
I love your energy & knowledge Lisa 🤛🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🇬🇧xxx
You completely explained the coming trends so well. I personally love to get ahead of trends. Thank you for this incredible info. Thank goodness we are moving away from the boring minimalism.
Glad it was helpful! Mores coming!
Describes my vibe spot on…have been collecting worthy pieces and now need to paint!
Looking good Lisa!
Cool we get a glimpse of the exciting shifts in color schemes, furniture styles, and innovative decor ideas that are set to transform homes, making it a must-watch for anyone looking to keep their space on-trend.
Totally!❤️
Grandpa Chic.....or classic and classy? Yah! Love it.
Hey Lisa. Love the new vibe 2024
I am very happy that Lisa is now getting some quality sponsorships. There are so many amateur "interior designers" that recommend making lights and mirrors out of > old plaster / string / cat hair and old tin cans that have lots of younger followers that think their "craft" is cool (It probably isn't, Ask Nick Lewis ! ..... Lisa has quality - trends / experience/ classic dupes & recommendations. We love you Lisa !!! 😍😻😘
OMG!🥰Thanks so much for this kind comment...I won't sponsor anything I don't believe in, ever...you can rely on that! xoxo L
funny!
@@LisaHoltDesign all due respect, please look a little deeper into Better Help if you have the time. Or reach out to Dr Mike to ask about some of the less widely known problems with the service. Anecdotally, a therapist through there started engaging in emotional infidelity with a friend of mine who was his patient and going through a rough time in her marriage.
I almost spit my coffee out on this comment but it's soooo true!!!
Cat hair mirror now resides in a priority spot in my brain. Thank you for the laugh and great description.
Great! I‘ve just moved and I hardly have any furniture left from my past. I got a change to change everything!
You can do it!🙌🏼
Yes and in two years ,it will all change up again .Just stick with what you really love as an individual .Hard to think against the grain i know , just do what YOU truly love .
Thank You 💚💚💚💚
Oh my Lisa I have designed my home all around this Pallet and statement through out my home and flows beautifully!
Gosh didn’t know what I called it but classy and cozy transitional style ! Will now I have a new name for it “Grandpa Chic “ love it 🇨🇦👍🏾
Wonderful!
I'm so excited to hear this design style has a name. A large part of my styling never fit into a specific known style until now. Not having a name for your style creates difficulties for online discovery for inspiration and product ranges. Thank you, Lisa, for this video❣
You are so welcome!🥰👍🏻
Awesome because i never got rid of my Ralph Lauren and he's definitely the king of this style. Charles Faudee too.
Hooray 🎉 everything I luv & have!!!! So happy more may embrace this classic, comfortable style home. And all the colors I adore will now be more readily available in paint❤
Yay! Thank you!
I love this. Reminds me of Ralph Lauren one of my favorites.
I can’t wait for skirted sofas
Love the content and the sponsor. I appreciate your honesty about past need for counseling. ❤
I appreciate that!
Wow I just finished my space in my new condo n this is the best description of what I did in it. Wish I could send u pics :)
Only thing I don’t hav r leather chairs. I’ll consider doing it latr
Loving Grandpa Chic! Thank you for this update!
Thanks for watching!
Really like this video! Even though I can't afford most of his stuff, this style is why Ralph Lauren's home design always grabs my attention. Stylish but not fussy. Tailored & neat but still soft, easy & comfortable. Warm but not suffocating. Masculine solid furniture, but just enough curved & delicate fine-line tables, side chairs & accessories that most women will find attractive & welcoming.
After the many schizo trends seen the past few years, this one is the most relaxing, imho. Affordable & easy to mix. Most people have half this stuff already, the items just need to be re-imagined & pulled together. (eg. Use an old dresser as a TV stand. Place a pair of wing chairs & a lower table in your breakfast nook or eat-in kitchen. Use a larger coffee table as a sofa side table & stack it with your favorite books. If you have space, move an old TV armoire into your kitchen, as a pantry cupboard. It all looks great.)
Ohhh 😲 yesss on loving the RL Home style. Ever since 1996 when I use to hang out with my best friend at the time who lived in the country club. I grew up on the lower end of middle class and when I walked into her family living room (different from the formal LR) and sat on her chairs I fell in love. The way her mom had the plaids and stripes and everything in that room is still to this day the epitome of a perfect LR set up and collection.
One day while I was there we were putting the cushions back on the couch from us being goofy dancers (16 yrs), I noticed it said Ralph Lauren embroidered on the back side of it. I said to her completely bewildered, does RL make furniture??! She laughed and was like yeahhh all weird. Like I should have known duh. But since that day, that is my style. Call it what we will, I’ve always felt coziest in this type of style. Quality is key when going Grampa Chic.
@candyce6233 Great memories! Can picture you dancing around & acting goofy - I did the same thing at 16, too \🤪/ Also had a few well-to-do friends, too, whose parents had noticeably good decor taste. But this was long before RL started his home collection. I swear though - whenever a home decor item catches my eye, & I take a closer look, it's almost always RL. In fact, the floral curtains in my living room are 25 year old RL table cloths I bought on clearance at Macy's for $5 each. They were so pretty & affordable that I bought most of the many sizes in the bin. Still a splurge, back then, but I still hang them in winter because when the sun shines through them, they look like stained glass & add warmth to the space :)
I’m already seeing it. And yes, I loooove it.
Most people will get scared because of the dark tones but I’m just tired of white
Looks like pretty in the pines style a lil bit.
There are elements of this style that I've had dreams about since childhood, such as a dark green library with a high-back velvet chair, a leather ottoman, and a fireplace. I like the warmth and comfort of it. It would be a big leap for me design-wise, though, because it's so different from any space I've designed in the real world. I feel like I would need a space to counterbalance the calm I see here, something to give energy. It's really nice, though, and it makes me think!
Interesting! You could do just 1 space, with a door! xo L Hope we see you on the LIVE on Saturday! Miss you!
Looks like traditional Ralph Lauren! ❤
Ralph lauren look, jewel tones, plaid, tweed, velvet, stripe, floral, brass, and an animal print.
I love grandpa chic. My home is transitional, but my home-office is grandpa chic-though I didn’t know it until watching this video. Perhaps I should expand the grandpa chic style into other rooms. Hmm. 🤔🙂
Love your videos and your enthusiasm, Lisa! My husband and I live in a home that is story book-ish. Could you do a video about decorating such a home?
Great idea!
Just watched this video for 6th time. Trying to gleam from it the best way to articulate the story I want my home to tell.
You can do it!🙌🏼
Brava! Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Grampa Chuc is one of my favorite
When you add cats‘ scratching trees on the picktures, I feel content. 😻😻😻ps. The owner of three cats - yes, they LOVE my holstered armchairs, but not in a way than I love. 😂
Beautiful. Love that. ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Oh I’m so happy I came across this!! I’ve been searching so badly for ideas I kept thinking of a handsome man’s library type thing.
Glad it was helpful!
I just love all of your videos Lisa. Thank u so much for youŕ awesome content. I love Grandpa Chic 😊❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you for this clear explanation. It can be so beautiful. Not my style, but I can see the appeal.
You’re welcome 😊 thx for watching!
You got it right ❤
Hi Lisa , Love the video. I plan on converting my living room that never gets used except for Christmas into a Cigar/Whiskey lounge that will be in the Grandpa Chic style. I will be coming back to this video for ideas. Thank you
That's a great idea!
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Grandpa chic, is a ratty barcalounger, old pillows cup holder, crumbs on the floor large tv anchored to a wall, smelly dog on the floor crooked shades, white mini fridge , tv table from 1959, plaid scatter rug, never been washed, landline phone, close to the cellar door that needs painting, that slams shut, when the 😊wind blows through deck the underside of the untreated deck etc😮😊 don't forget the small caterpillar on the top lip, circa 1945, pinky ring, dartboard, And brown slippers, a Christmas present from 1978, from his Daughter, who loves him more than anything in the World, and I miss him so much😊❤
So Ralph Lauren Home. Got it and guess what? It's one of my very favourite interior design styles. Yay!!
I wish you would do a video on eclectic style. It is hard to get right. Thank you so much for all your videos!!! Love them!!
Coming soon!
I love it!
One of the needed skills in home designing is adaptation and being updated. 🥰🥰
Absolutely!!
Love this! To me this seems eclectic traditional. It goes with my actual MCM furniture and thrift store style. I usually like mixing feminine with masculine things. I did have a cottage phase long before core was put on the end. This goes with my love of unusual things that go together. I own lots of vintage and I will never give up the ghost on those. I love my chrome 50s dinette. Decorated around that for years. I love having stuff that isn't readily available. To me that is Grandpa chic.
Love that!
OG of “Grqndpa Chic is Ralph Lauren. This is just re branding. Also check out Papa Hemingway homes.
It’s an effortless Ralph Lauren
Thank you for the video. Do you ever make videos of your design work?
Yes I do! They’re at my site, dezignspace.com
Love this
Love it so much!

I remember when Hush Puppies shoes became the "in style" footwear in the late '90s...
They were popular back in the 70's too.
Oh my goodness that reminds me of Bobbi Brown’s hotel. It’s called the George in Montclair, NJ.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
I had to move on all of my classic furniture, as it really didn't work with my Australian Contemporary surf side home. Loved it, kept a couple of pieces, but have enjoyed a new style and challenging my style choices! It's ok though, I do get bored after a couple years and need a change up!😉
Wonderful!
Ralph Lauren has made a big comeback into the fore in fashion, so this is right in line.
It is substantial chic - substanchic.
The salvation army on hwy 6 and beechnut is the place to go for estate furniture. In houston texas
I like grandpa chic but I’d have to lighten it up a bit as I get SAD and occasional depression.
Love your glasses. Could you share brand? Love your videos!
