Good review. Right to the point. I purchased this and while the bass separation often isn’t perfect, it’s a great tool to eliminate guitar so you can play over songs.
Thanks! And yeah, I don't think any app will get them perfectly, but man it's still quite good! I'm already mixing my friends songs to put them over ridiculous pop songs :) It's a lot of fun!
That's super handy. I'm not a fan of tabs and prefer to learn songs by ear. Sometimes picking out the bass to get the exact notes can be rough. This app would be a fantastic tool for pulling bass farther forward or isolating it completely and then pulling it for practice tracks. Your channel is full of technological goodness!
One thing I've found out with Moises (moy-zezz?) is that if you're making a-capellas for hip hop scratching, or whatever -- you wanna keep the instrumental part at around 20% - because if you full mute the instrumental, you kill off some of the vocal tones. The A.I. isn't quite so advanced that it can separate music and vocals 100% accurately and that's why you get that "washy" sound.
Yeah that’s a good point. And I don’t think there will ever be a time where it perfectly isolates the vocals or instruments 100% perfectly from a stereo track. That would be pretty insane. But it’s trying to grab the vocals and sometimes other instruments will fit with the eq or stereo image of it, so it’s complicated sometimes. But still pretty amazing. But yeah, messing with the settings is a smart idea
Oh my god thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for. Im a guitar player, and Ive grown used to playing back a song (part) over and over trying to get it right. Not anymore.
Hi Scott, great video. I am looking to create backing tracks were I can practice to to something that it close to or exactly like to original. I sing and play acoustic in a small group who sometimes complain about my creative license with songs. We don't practice much together so they want the chord changes to be as close as possible to the original song (classic songs from prior 2000, like Cash, Eagles, Rick Nelson, old country, etc.) I am looking at Moises and/or Karaoke Version to create tracks in a DAW (I am trying to choose a DAW for PC and Android). I may eventually want to use a backing track live or at least to collaborate with my band mates. I have a Behringer XR18. I want to keep it as simple as possible. Do you have any advice as to how I should start this journey? Does Karaoke Version allow you to pay for a song once (say 2.99) and then download all the tracks as separate stems?
It takes a while to download each stem with KV, but that’s how I do it. It just takes a while. I’ll often download 4-5 songs at once just to get it done faster
It doesn’t have a lot of the songs in my iTunes /apple library even after paying premium . I really needed the backing tracks which I can’t find any where else . I really just needed the drums and bass background. 😢😢
I have a question about the free version of Moises. What would happen if i tried to separate an already-separated "other" track that contains say, guitar and organ?...if i tried to separate that, would i get another track of the same thing, or might it be separated a bit more?
Great! At the risk of sounding dumbish, lol, I’m trying to figure out all of the software needed to get to the performance stage… Moises or Karaoke version for stems? Then something like Logic for cues etc.. Then something like Multi-tracker ( or SoundCue- unavailable)? Trying to figure out what I need without overlap
Hi Scott, I just came across this video and thought this would be great, especially with the ability to process TH-cam videos as I don’t “own” any new music now that I have a streaming subscription. But when I tried to upload a TH-cam video I get a message that “files from streaming services are not supported”. Is this something that has changed with the app? Have you experienced this?
I just installed in my iPhone and try to test it with a URL from TH-cam, but it state that it do not work from streaming service. Is there anything else to do to make it work like the demo here . Thansk for the attention to this matter

I saw a demo for other programs which do this and the sound was terrible in the really expensive ones. I don't recall seeing one for premium Moises. This premium version of Moises in this demo looks pretty good. However, is it the best one out there? Moises' price is nice for all it does, though.
It’s never going to get a perfect separation… but for what it does, it is pretty impressive. There is no way a program will extract perfect stems from just a stereo track. Not in my lifetime anyways
now that moises won't let you use URLs from all major streaming services what are people doing to still get mainstream music to do covers and still control which instruments you want out of the song
Hey Scott, I just downloaded Moises what I guess is the free version in hopes of removing the sax solo. It doesn't recognize it. It only displays four tracks. Do I have to use the premium version to get it to identify more tracks? Thanks
