As mentioned in a few comments, this is the best TH-cam video if you are actually replacing the gas cap housing on a Ford F-150 2001-2006. Pay close attention to the tabs you have to unclip. the angles in which you take the housing out and put back in. I found it easiest to just watch a segment or portion of the video, go out and do it and then come back and watch it again if things aren't working. Great job Fixer. Thanks.
Will, if you’re looking for the link to the part, it is in the description of the video. On mobile you have to hit the down arrow under the video to see the description. On desktop, there is probably a “read more” button.
Sadly Jeremy, I'm sure some folks would go and buy a new vehicle...😂😂😂... But I would hope not.😉 great video my friend! I like the automotive fixes. 😀👍👍☆Jay.
Thanks, man, I appreciate it! We have a society that throws things away these days, rather than fix them. Hopefully these videos will convince people to give fixing a try.
@@IAmAFixer also my lid dosen't have that thing bc it broke too if u know what i mean its that little plastic thing on the lid that i guess makes it stay there
Is is still attached and just broken off? If so, maybe you could epoxy it on. If not, you may have to try to find one at a junkyard that’s the same color, or eBay, or try to buy a new one somewhere.
Him: pulls mech cover out with bare hands Me: half an hour, 3 screwdrivers, and a bad temper commenting in frustration because it won't come off. But seriously, am I missing something here?? It will not come out no matter what I do
That is fixing it in my book! 😜 I stared at it for a while and couldn’t come up with an elegant way to repair the old on. If you have any ideas, let me know.
@@IAmAFixer I was going to ask, what exactly is breaking? I've got a loose cover too and I was wondering if you *have* to replace it or if there is a way to just repair the clip or whatever.
@@brianmolina4305 I haven't figured out a way to do it easily yet. There is a metal click attached to a plastic piece. The plastic piece snaps off. It would be difficult to repair.

Thanks for the kind words, Jeff. I’m glad it helped you out! Thanks for watching!
A customer came to me today with his fuel door flapping open, thanks!! I'll have him sorted out shortly..
This is by far the best guide on TH-cam. I was having the hardest time getting the housing back in after I removed it.
Thanks, Colione, I appreciate you watching! Consider subscribing if you like these kinds of videos.
Anybody found the link yet?

You’re welcome, Glenn. Glad it helped you out!
Thanks for posting and helping everyone.
I used 2" strip of velcro. Been about 5 yr now, still sticking. Wish we could post pics.
Picture in comments would be helpful. Thanks for sharing how you did it!
So it's better to do it when the plastic is warm and more pliable but generally cake walk. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome
Thank I needed this, mine has been busted for 2 years.
Thank You!!!!! I've been wondering about this on my truck. Gonna change mine as soon as possible.
You’re welcome! Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
A fixer wouldn't have bought a new part but FIXED the old one.
Thanks for the video it was very helpful and I got my fuel door fixed.
Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching!
This freaking flap is one of the most difficult parts to remove and istall ever. Thanks Ford
I went the velcro route, 3 minutes with cleaning.Worked.
Not if you know somewhat about hand tools

@@IAmAFixer that was a pain to get old one out! Only on cut! Woot!
Thanks again!!
Very good link thank God for technology.mechanic wanted 150.00 from my friend.thats about 128.00 profit not bad for a sleazeball.
Wow, that’s a lot. Maybe I need to get into auto repair. That’s a good markup! 😂 glad it helped you out. Thanks for watching!
Isn't there a spring that can be replaced or put back on instead of buying a whole new part?
Fantastic, thank you very much

i would stuff that pipe with a rag 👍
thanks for the video, mine just went
That’s a good idea! And thanks for watching!
yes,, me too!!
Just fixed mine today. It was simple. .... But I shouldn't have had fix it to begin FORD should have made a better quality truck. !
Too bad your vehicle is too old compared to my Taurus. But even the videos on the newer F150's still don't work for mine. So frustrating
You forgot to mention to take the cap off its a sliding back motion not a pull straight back
Jose Yepez how do you put back the lid? I’m having trouble doing that
Yep I broke the plastic notches on the flap because of that
Legendary u
IDK how everybody does this so easily I have actually bent the steel on the bed trying to get this damn thing off
Also scratched up my truck while doing this
HEAVY DUTY SELF ADHESIVE VELCRO, $5.00 LASTED 6 YEARS!
This fix is impossible with aftermarket parts.

Update: it finally came out, that was a real pain in the buttox
Glad you got it!
It's really aggravating I cannot get it to pop out
Yes, it can be a challenge. By it I’m assuming you’re meaning the cams? You may have to use a screwdriver to pry them out
Hopefully whoever designed this truck has found a new profession, literally the worst vehicle on earth to work on
chiko you aint even fix it your just swapped parts
