    I've got an Epix on my wrist and I love it! Great comparison vid, keep it up!
    Another reason I am loving the Epix is the higher resolution. I can actually read my phone notifications easily and the ability to swipe through them is just icing on the cake

    I must say both yourself and Ray ( DC Rainmaker) are the benchmark when it comes to this type of content. At the beginning of this video i was like epix or F7. But i think i will pull the trigger on f7x Sapphire Solar as i do a lot of remote camping and like the idea of a flashlight and extra battery life. Thanks for the assist in deciding and keep up the good work.

    I just switched my order from the 7 solar to the base Epix due to they added a month + to my wait time, and I would like high resolution on the maps. First order of business (provided I actually get it) will be to disable always on display as it crushes battery life. Great video, thanks :)

    Great video as always ,thanks! Everybody trying to convince me to betray the transflective display that I absolutely love as being "passive" pretty much as a real watch (or a old watch, one could say...), But yeah amoled looks pretty, it's just that to me it's surely prittier on a smartphone than on a watch...
    In any case, understand you rightfully got the top of the line Fenix 7 for review, but I strikingly suspect a base model would be much nicer as display, at least based on my little experience... Returned my f6 solar for a f6 regular some time back as the display was like night and day, and sapphire on top should actually male things even worst... Would love to see a comparison between base, solar and sapphire F7, for the display visual quality

    Just had to decide between the two for myself yesterday. The Epix is gorgeous with that new display, and the battery life is super solid given its features - especially coming from a Fenix 5x. But as an avid backpacker, the substantial gain in battery life from the 7x Sapphire Solar is what made the decision not so difficult for me. Having the potential to have 4+ days of battery life while using full-time GPS to follow the trail (with proper sunlight) without having to use power from my battery banks is an incredible feature. Allows me to use that juice for camera gear and other electronics. Plus, I prefer the 51mm size. Thank you for the videos!

    • @shahamatalikhan1028
      @shahamatalikhan1028 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's great 👍, tell me isn't the 51 a little too big? Definitely the bigger size packs more power 🔋 and of course the LED torch 🔦 which is a big advantage should you need one. But I literally used a measuring tape to span 51 mm and the size put me off .. lol

      @TheBser97 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shahamatalikhan1028 I personally prefer the 51mm size. It fits well on my wrist, and I don’t have very big wrists. But I like larger watches. Plus, the slightly larger screen size is super nice for reading maps

    Hi. Congrats for the video. I have three doubts regarding the Fenix 7: 1) Regarding visibility through the screen, how does it affect whether the screen is standard, solar or solar sapphire? Are there differences in terms of visibility, and if so, which one is the most easily readable? 2) Also regarding the screens, is the standard screen really easy to scratch compared to the sapphire? In your opinion, does the hardness of the screen justify the change to the sapphire model? and 3) Regarding solar charging, the fact that the battery is being recharged much more frequently without necessarily being low on charge, can this affect the useful life of the battery compared to one without solar charging? Thanks a lot.

    I would love to see a still shot of both the Standard F7 and the Epix with the Standard on with 100% brightness, realizing it still won't be as nice as the Epix, most of these review videos use default settings, which means when showing the displays you typically have the Standard at 20% brightness. If anyone could point me to something like that I would really appreciate it. Right now I have my F6 Pro + Sapp. at 100% and I can see the imagine quite easily (even for my old eyes), wondering if the F7 Standard is at least the same brightness compared with the F6 Pro.

    What is the Epix battery life like with heavy map usage - what sort of battery life would you get for example off a 3hr hike with AOD on and lots of map use.

    Any thoughts on Garmin possibly releasing a 42 (S) size for the Epix? I have the Fenix 6s pro and I would not want any larger on my tiny wrist! Great videos on all the new devices!

    Despite a great video I am still undecided between a plain FR955 via a Fenix 7 solar sapphire to an Epix 2 sapphire. There are some hefty price differences to consider ($500, $900, or $1000), and with the features being very, very similar it is really build quality, battery life, and display it comes down to. I seem to be able to scratch Gorilla Glass even if I try to be careful so that immediately makes me lean towards the two others in sapphire glass versions but it makes for very, very expensive sapphire glass and particularly with the Fenix 7 as I live in the UK and don't really need, want, or can make good use of the solar charging feature. Has anyone been in a similar situation, and what did you end up with, why, and are you happy with your choice?

    Hey Des, what are your thoughts on potential impacts of OLED burn-in on The Epix?

    • @yavorminkov
      @yavorminkov 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can always look at every other regular smartwatch, phone etc. Fitbit, Apple, Samsung...and so on. Doesn't seem to be a problem and they have been using OLED type displays for years,
      Considering that the `always on` reduces brightness a lot and it's not really a "static picture", I don't think there is enough brightness to cause oled deterioration, plus...the technology is now mature enough.

    what I am curious though, how it works for golf, particularly move pin on the green. Approach s62 can move freely as oppose Fenix 6 (what I have) only in preset position. And second, can Fenix 7 suggest golf club same as Approach does (function is called virtual caddy) ?

    The Epix does look great but my concern it the overall battery life. I am a triathlete and rely on long distance battery for IronMan's. I wish Epic had solar.

    • @chrisgilligan4968
      @chrisgilligan4968 ปีที่แล้ว

      The vid says 20 hours with all sats and always on display turned on. Max time limit for Ironman is 17 hours. Would need to be sure that the watch is charge to full prior to racing - but it shouldn't be a concern. Also you could turn off always on display and it goes up to like 24 hours or something. I'm like you though - I'm torn. I have a 5X plus and also an apple watch. Display is much nicer and easier to read on the apple watch - but have to charge it daily.....these are tough decisions.

    How long does it take for Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire & Epix gen 2 to charge in full after it has been completely drained? Also can you use both devices while being charged with portable battery? And finally does either watches get hot while being charged and being in use?

    Hello, awesome videos!
    I'm new here and I'd like to buy my first Garmin watch but still unsure if it will be the new Fenix 7 or Epix 2.
    One question:
    how the 2 displays behave during the night at sleep? Can you completely switch off the display on both models?

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Both have a sleep mode option where you can adjust certain settings (there are details on both in the individual videos on each one). The Fenix 7 display can’t turn on entirely but it doesn’t emit light at night, you won’t see it. With the Epix, the display will turn off in sleep mode unless you interact with it, then it will first show the low brightness sleep watch face. Hope that helps. Thanks!

    Thanks Des, great video. Quick question, what’s your preference between 955 and Epix? Amoled vs battery + lightness. Thanks!

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's tough - although I love the lightness and battery life of the 955 it's tough to ignore that bright display on the Epix. Not sure if I could choose a winner. Sorry but thanks!

But pardon me this might be a noob question.. whether we like it or not accidents do happen. so will this watch able to survive if dropped or bump just like 2 or 3 feet high. not comparing this to gshocks because that's a different story. is there any some sort or just small area of protective layer or how sensitive the electronics inside ? thank you
