TO NEW PLANT-LOVING VIEWERS: I am not a plant expert and do not claim to be one! I run a beauty and lifestyle channel, but really enjoy tending to plants in my home, and my subscribers had asked to see a little tour of my houseplants :)
Please don't place your expectations of planty-perfectionism on this video! I may not know all the names of my plants, but I love them all the same, and they still bring me a lot of joy, and that's what matters! I absolutely appreciate being informed of the names of those I'm unsure of, as it helps me learn, but please don't be a wet blanket :) If you're feeling annoyed at my plant-ignorance, go tend to your own plant babies as I'm sure they'll make you feel better haha x

I have been so caught up in life that I forgot how I love plants. The pandemic slowed me down and one day I was sitting in my living room it hit me what my life and house was missing. Greenery. I took a cutting from a plant at work as well as an orchid I had at work that was given to me and brought them home. I instantly felt better. Plants are definitely therapeutic.

I have a plant that belonged to someone i knew as a child. He passed away decades ago. His mother kept his plant alive. His sister gave me some of the plant clippings. A living plant that honors someone who has passed. I think there is beauty in that.

The plant in your bathroom is a Peperomia Obtusifolia, or " American baby rubber plant". And the one that looks like your arrowhead is a "pixie arrowhead". ❤ I haven't found one of those yet but I found my Obtusifolia in the grocery store, of all places, just before the virus went crazy. Mine has only been with me about a month and has new shoots on the stems! I am so excited! I love Jonathon. You'll have to give him a hello for me! Once a plant has rooted in water it can still be transferred to soil. Many of the water roots will die back or branch into soil roots.
The succulent you had was a low light haworthiopsis hence why he didn't like the full sun aspect. Looked very thirsty too. Good luck with your collection. It's great!

Last week discussing life/plants/perfectionism with a friend after I burned the leaves of a perfect succulent. I decided then that perfection can’t be sustained and the attempt to do so, stresses me. Then realized I enjoy propagating plants from cuttings and raising them and watching them grow. Sometimes I bring home cast off branches i pick up at a garden center, leaves that would otherwise end up in the waste bin. I counted and realized I had over 60 little plants! Wait, is that why they’re called “nurseries”? Nursing little leaves into mighty plants. Hmm

I strongly suggest reading on gardening for kids learning. While it is messy, having something like a small pot of cherry tomato plant project when they're around 4+ yo can teach a ton about where food comes from, how long it takes, how to appreciate the work gone into it, and of course how to care for something that requires maintenance. Gardening as a mental health benefit is also very researched topic. It doesn't mean you need an acre of space, just a couple pots by the window are enough.

I thought the same. I have twin three year olds. Becoming a plant mom was the best thing I’ve done this year. It really helps your house feel more relaxing and it relaxes me to care for them. I even have poisonous plants in my bedroom. I tell my sons that they are my babies and not touch them but to look at them. They love them and help me repot the others. And the help outside with the garden. I love it. But I still say no to pets lol.

@@mrs.s6212 that sounds wonderful! my mother kept a lot of dangerous looking cacti when i was little, there was the common sense to not go touch them :D And I agree on pets, it's not something I want to cate for alongside kids, maybe a hamster, but that's it.

This is the video I've been waiting for and it did not disappoint!!! I love your plants! You inspired me to get my first fiddle leaf fig in December and I'm so happy I have it for this quarantine, because I've gotten to watch it grow it's first new leaf! I have several other plants too and I want so many more! They have really helped my mental health during the last month of being stuck in my house!!! Your apartment is spectacular!

The second plant is a Pothos n'joy, 6:33 is a pilea glauca, 13:20 is a ficus pumila Variegata (creeping fig), 15:03 is a type of peperomia obtusifolia, 18:33 is another arrowhead plant (syngonium), there are many many varieties of them! Hope this helps!!

Haha, oh gosh, one of my kitties loves eating plants too 😅 I’ve found though that he will leave succulents and plants with thicker leaves alone for the most part. I’ve also been growing him cat grass and he’ll go for that!

Morgan Baldwin Miller get them cat grass! That really helped with my two plant eaters. Apparently if they’re eating your plants they’re craving greens and cat grass is good for them. Most pet stores sell pre-grown ones or you can get seeds and they grow super quick

Your home has a ton of beautiful natural light. And your fiddle leaf figs are amazing! I like to watch tours like this because they give me a lot of ideas for ways to make space for plants. I got some good ideas from your tour. One, I really liked the hanging planters in the book shelves. I never would have thought of that and now I am going to add a hook or two to the underside of the top shelf on my Ikea plant shelf. I think 3M makes some hooks that would work perfectly. So thanks for that idea (amongst others). I'm now on the hunt for a spice vial rack like you have for your propagations.

Hello! Just came across your video! I have that same succulent that you have in your bedroom that I rescued from the clearance rack! It’s called a Haworthia. These little guys actually love indirect light! Mine was getting direct sunlight at the store and it was turning black 😯 I moved him far away from the window and now he’s green, growing SO MUCH, and growing new pups! Happy planting!

The haworthia doesn't like too much sun, but if moved a little further from the window it'll recover quite easily.

And thumbs up for not buying bottled water for plants!
