I used the pre-existing cleared space and converted it to this one and it works great. Also the seperation of blocks into numbered stacks is much appreciated because even when using the ruler, I can still forget my count.
I made a very similar design, and an issue I encountered was that 3 block tall mobs like lizards and skeletons would sometimes tunnel through the bottom row of blocks when hitting the slope (not sure why they hit it in the first place since the tunnel itself is 3 blocks tall with 2 blocks of hoik at the bottom and 1 empty space above.) Anyway, the fix for that was to make the bottom 2 blocks thick. I'd still observe enemies sometimes being one block lower, but they didn't fall completely through anymore and arrived in the killbox as intended. It doesn't appear to be a problem in your exact build but if anyone else is having this problem that's the fix.

For my notes, I'll be a lot less pedantic than Kellam. Originally the player placed wall desert wall would have been a bad choice when farming certain mobs like chaos elementals that don't spawn unless the player is active and not in front of player walls, but the shadow candle negates both effects. If you use the MUCH easier to create jungle biome to increase spawn rate, then you'd still need battle potions to get close to the spawn cap, but the underground desert in caverns goes right to it. At some point before that, the ability to kill mobs quickly is the real bottleneck, since every living mob reduces the spawn rate. I do have a very fancy mob farm from a long time ago in my discord's announcements. Though I have built it a couple times in skyblock's that have wiring access, it's too complex to be practically copied, but it's a super automatic farm with fully wired biome and spawn rate control. It can even fully afk without dying to big mimics, although it also doesn't kill them. I should update it with hoik mob boosters and a shadow candle.

Hello, Mikael of the future. this is Mikael of the past. i leave this message for you here, knowing that you will once again look at the comments one day, filled with question. keep note of 1:20. you will understand later why you also need 84 of a solid block. now, skip to 4:20 once at 4:20, he starts to place blocks and hammer them into their usual HOIK form, and then says to blockswap them with platform, if going for wireless. This isn't a way of saying to switch them. he means to literally use the function that lets you immediately switch a block by digging with another block in your hand. in this case, the pointy block retains their strange behavior and is transmited to the platform ( the same way it can be used to HOIK away the Old one's army ) . this is why you must FIRST place 84 solid blocks, and then change these 84 blocks once hammered with 84 platforms. this was all, mikael. Hi from 2024.
6:29 this isnt true? I use snow and sand in tandem all the time? Tho at 1500 snow/ice the background wont change, just music an torch and assumedly drops/enemies (key will drop?) And at 1501 background will change. The blocks that do cancel out each other is corruption/crimson and hallow. Am i mistaken?
Something I found out you can use the clinger staff through one block floors so can you use both the clinger staff and lava just not nimbus rod although I play on console so maybe it only works there and finally to do this you have to place your curser right above the block you want to place the wall of fire
Neat. I may redesign the kill chamber to work with melee weapons, I have designed many kill chambers doing 30x spawnrate hardcore and have found one that fits 3 wide mobs and can utilize true melee weapons without you being in danger, but idk how safe it is for ranged enemies
I had the same problem too. Turns out enemies were spawning on top of the top platform. Decrease the length of the platform on top. You also have to actuate the two middle layers accordingly
ngl, clearing out the space for this isn't too bad by hand as long as you have like, full mining gear, a bone pick, and maybe some mining potions pre-hardmode, you can mine out the area in, I'd say probably like, 10-20 minutes at most.
Ok. So my friend and I made our wireless version in the mushroom biome so we didn't have to dig as much. It's exactly to specifications, but it's very slow. Mobs will spawn pretty much anywhere but the actual path with the platforms. We made a desert biome, even going to find the shimmer to get the right walls, but it's still not working.
How do you stop a bunch of monsters from spawning either a) on the bottom of the whole box or b) on top of the sand? It's farming well but there are so many skeleton archers and whatnot spawning at the bottom and shooting up. Should I make the box deeper? Any help much appreciated :)
For the first point, when the mob spawner looks for valid spawn spots, it looks for blocks around the player in a fixed distance. I don't know the spawn distances off the top of my head but the whole box is sized so that if you're standing at the gathering spot, there shouldn't be any valid blocks in range below you or anywhere other than the spawn area.
U can move the box down. The sand should all be visible. If u can’t see it all that’s where they’re spawning so move it to where u can see it. Lava also works to stop spawns.
Thank you for your work! Getting tons of Black Recluses and still Hallowed Mimics that kill me, but no Chaos Elemental. Perhaps things have changed in FTW seed?
Ok this farm is great I'm having just one problem. Enemies keep on spawning at the top of the hoik platform, in between the ramp and the sand. Is anyone else having a similar issue? If so is this supposed to happen and if not how do I fix it?
5:08 Why do the platforms act as thrusters? Why does the speed at which enemies arrive increase? Is this a mechanism specific to this farm and cannot be transferred to other models to speed up the rate at which enemies die?
The platforms are acting as a hoik, but just look like normal platforms. The same concept can be applied to any other farm, but be aware the platform version only works with mobs that fall through platforms.
At 7:15, I placed all the sand blocks and the unsafe walls, but i only get fish to spawn and not real enemies. I want to farm for regular mimics which were spawning beforehand.
@@ChiefLogan_ Nah that was not the issue. I had to spawn a crimson biome with walls nearby or else the farm doesn't work. With only sandblocks and walls, in vanilla teraria, I experienced rarely any normal mobspawn with the 1500 sandblocks. Other than that, with the crimson blocks, it works fine
I placed about 400 pearl stone and yet the surrounding area isn’t an underground hallow, I can’t stand under the kill chamber but if I stand much further left it will become the hallow. Also I have bats spawning, how do I stop them from lowering the efficiency?
Hi, would this work on a multiplayer server? I have just made this farm by following this guide on a day before, and it worked. Then, on the day after when I tried it with my friends, the farm only gets a small amount of mobs compared to the first time I used it and a plenty amount of mobs somehow spawn below me instead of it spawning near the hoiks.
Thank you so much! I made this but there are mobs spawning in the flat area before the slope that are getting stuck there. Am I doing something wrong? 3:35
@ChiefLogan_ the wireless version, I probably didn't explain the issue properly. Let's say the mobs are spawning in the gap between the blocks of sand and the slope, and it is not like they are stuck but rather they stay there walking against the large body of sand. They are not coming down to where the hoik mechanism is.
occasionally my mobs are spawning below me in the box but for the most part they just spawn on the top most platform and dont walk to the actuators, the dimensions of the box are correct, not sure where im messing up
Try expanding the box down further. You shouldn’t be getting mobs spawning on the top platform unless there’s spawn spaces off-screen. Did you build the sand too high?

This isn't a way of saying to switch them. he means to literally use the function that lets you immediately switch a block by digging with another block in your hand. in this case, the pointy block retains their strange behavior and is transmited to the platform ( the same way it can be used to HOIK away the Old one's army ) . this is why you must FIRST place 84 solid blocks, and then change these 84 blocks once hammered with 84 platforms.
this was all, mikael. Hi from 2024.
Hi, i'm having an issue where slimes are spawning on the top platform, getting stuck there and filling up the mob count
Pro move: if you’re doing caves, take over the shimmer cave since it’s totally solid blocks and you wont have to excavate everything
No you’re right, I was mistaken in the video after believing the wiki
@ChiefLogan_ if I had read anything I would've realized you've been told this already, sorry.
Something I found out you can use the clinger staff through one block floors so can you use both the clinger staff and lava just not nimbus rod although I play on console so maybe it only works there and finally to do this you have to place your curser right above the block you want to place the wall of fire
Make the block above you hoik too so you can hit the enemy above you.
Neat. I may redesign the kill chamber to work with melee weapons, I have designed many kill chambers doing 30x spawnrate hardcore and have found one that fits 3 wide mobs and can utilize true melee weapons without you being in danger, but idk how safe it is for ranged enemies
Chlorophyte armor helps too. The leaf sticks above the block and shoots
why bats keep spawning outside? is that normal?
I had the same problem too. Turns out enemies were spawning on top of the top platform. Decrease the length of the platform on top. You also have to actuate the two middle layers accordingly
ngl, clearing out the space for this isn't too bad by hand as long as you have like, full mining gear, a bone pick, and maybe some mining potions pre-hardmode, you can mine out the area in, I'd say probably like, 10-20 minutes at most.
If you don't want to use summons, then spear traps, flame throwers, and spike ball traps could be worth implimenting into the build
For anyone whos wondering what block hes using its the xenon moss brick
Hi! Would this work in the current Tmodloader build as of November 2024? (I'm trying to build this for my Calamity playthrough)
Yes it will! Realistically in Calamity you may get enough mobs using a Zerg potion and chaos candle though
If it was built to the measurements shown then it shouldn’t be possible for mobs to spawn anywhere other than the platform. Where are they spawning?
Sky Block 3:15 noted for me
8:55 , i tried that but have problems with a lot of man eater(the one with vine thing) spawning from that direction and i don't know how to stop it 🙃
You could also buy a pylon then have a pet/ NPC in one house and remove the second one
i build the same farm in caverns and get like 5 enemies PER SECOND THIS FARM IS CRAZY
@@Khanxay Thank you!
@@cleverhandle420 Thank you!
Does it work on Mobile and in pre-Hardmode?
Great video!
Thank you for your work! Getting tons of Black Recluses and still Hallowed Mimics that kill me, but no Chaos Elemental. Perhaps things have changed in FTW seed?
What about the biome mimics? Can't afk when they are always immediately activated.
Ok this farm is great I'm having just one problem.
Enemies keep on spawning at the top of the hoik platform, in between the ramp and the sand. Is anyone else having a similar issue? If so is this supposed to happen and if not how do I fix it?
Just out of interest, what are the blue blocks you're using there? For whatever reason, I don't recognize them. I like how they look.
It’s one of the moss brick variants, can’t remember the exact name
@@ChiefLogan_ Thanks so much for the reply, just knowing that I can figure it out. I've never used any of those, so I had no idea.
By the way if you want explsion-proof blocks than you should be using dungeon bricks. They are the easiest one to get
would changing this to crimson help with farming ichor? or is there something else I should do in order for stickers to spawn
Is it still beneficial to wall the entire lower section of the mined out area?
Don’t you need to place walls in the background underneath so mobs don’t spawn and only spawn on the spawning platform?
5:08 Why do the platforms act as thrusters? Why does the speed at which enemies arrive increase? Is this a mechanism specific to this farm and cannot be transferred to other models to speed up the rate at which enemies die?
The platforms are acting as a hoik, but just look like normal platforms. The same concept can be applied to any other farm, but be aware the platform version only works with mobs that fall through platforms.
@@ChiefLogan_ For it to work, is it necessary to limit the space to a maximum of 3 in height?
@Astagion it’ll work with a higher roof, but some mobs may occasionally escape the hoik
At 7:15, I placed all the sand blocks and the unsafe walls, but i only get fish to spawn and not real enemies. I want to farm for regular mimics which were spawning beforehand.
Do you have NPCs nearby? If so try placing a shadow candle
@@ChiefLogan_ Nah that was not the issue. I had to spawn a crimson biome with walls nearby or else the farm doesn't work. With only sandblocks and walls, in vanilla teraria, I experienced rarely any normal mobspawn with the 1500 sandblocks. Other than that, with the crimson blocks, it works fine
hallowed mimics still seemed to spawn after i placed the infested spider walls. maybe i placed them incorrectly? im not sure.
You need to place them above both layers of the spawn platform, if you have plenty of cobweb you may as well Place more than you need
@@ChiefLogan_ great thank you.
Can spawn chaos elemtal to? For rod of discors?
wizard appears.. huh apparently you can also use this to find missing npcs
Then, on the day after when I tried it with my friends, the farm only gets a small amount of mobs compared to the first time I used it and a plenty amount of mobs somehow spawn below me instead of it spawning near the hoiks.
if you put the corrupted blocks that close to the NPC housing, wouldn't that make it invalid? 7:31
Yeah, unfortunately there’s no way to have both. You’ll still be able to sell to the NPCs until the die or move house though
Ah I see... then I'll just have to build the housing outside the farm. Thanks for the reply 👍
This farm actually works wonderful than the usual waffle time farm I've built many times in the past, even in mobile version. Thanks for sharing 👍
so im thinking of making one for each of the different biomes so i dont have to swap blocks everytime, would that be crazy?
Thank you so much! I made this but there are mobs spawning in the flat area before the slope that are getting stuck there. Am I doing something wrong? 3:35
Are you using the wired or wireless version?
@ChiefLogan_ the wireless version, I probably didn't explain the issue properly. Let's say the mobs are spawning in the gap between the blocks of sand and the slope, and it is not like they are stuck but rather they stay there walking against the large body of sand. They are not coming down to where the hoik mechanism is.
@EstebanGerardoQuesadaMolina try extending the slope further upwards to block mobs from getting up there
@@ChiefLogan_ it worked, thank you!
occasionally my mobs are spawning below me in the box but for the most part they just spawn on the top most platform and dont walk to the actuators, the dimensions of the box are correct, not sure where im messing up
Try expanding the box down further. You shouldn’t be getting mobs spawning on the top platform unless there’s spawn spaces off-screen. Did you build the sand too high?
@@ChiefLogan_ looks like expanding it worked thanks
If you just got into hard mode, you can buy a jousting lance and ride a Minecraft back and forth to do TONS of damage semi afk:)
9:07 Couldn't you use certain trap blocks to increase the mob damage dps?
Yeah, that would work
farms? for what :3
