These are pretty awesome. I got one as a rental and drove it 1750 miles total on a road trip. Ultra comfortable on my bad back, handled great and got around 30 mpg average, nice stereo system, powerful pickup on busy freeways, quick break response, tons of room in trunk for large suitcases, quiet interior, etc... no complaints! Requesting one for my upcoming road trip.

this car is nice, I just drove one of these 1800 miles this weekend. JET BLACK with dark tinted windows also black interior. I pushed the speed limit on the interstates and this car didnt hesitate up and down extreme hilly areas. It didnt feel small to me at all, generally I prefer trucks-suvs but would considering buying this car now.

I have a 2012 Cruze base model, I bought it labor day weekend and I love it so far! Hesitant acceleration can become a pain especially in stop and go traffic (I live in the ATL metro area). This is my second car and second GM car, I had a 2004 Chevy Aveo LS which was brand new when I got it and it was reliable until the timing belt broke at 91,000 miles. I'm a big fan of GM and I would recommend the Cruze to anyone in the market for a compact sedan!

Great review, I agree the American companies have finally made this sector a priority. I am a vehicle researcher for a company here in the US. Since 2008 the companies that have made strides to provide better built and ergonomically designed vehicles are. The two Korean brands KIA and Hyundai, and the American brands Chevy, Ford, Buick and Cadillac. All of these auto makers have invested in trying to give the consumer more bang for their buck in many of these newer models as they discard...

I have Cruze 2.0 LS+ VCDI (diesel) since August 2010 and almost 10000miles. Fine car. Engine is powerful with a lot of torque. 47mpg with easy foot. Top speed 130mph, 0-60 in 9 seconds. Not noisy at high speed.

Yeah I agree. I've test driven the Cruze and was really impressed. It feels taut and refined which is rare for a compact vehicle. So kudos to GM for that. Only other American car that impressed me that much was the Cadillac CTS.

@guyNbluejeans Was it the base Cruze or the higher up models? Different powertrains are available with different packages. I'm curious how they drive but I'm refraining from doing so before I get tempted lol. I'll wait till next year till the prices start to drop a bit for a demonstrator one or a used one. How did you find the refinement.

@WillyPhister you should seriously reconsider, as a fellow skeptic myself my family member baught one, and loved it, i checked it out, drove it, and fell in love myself. i ended up buying one, and i wouldnt trade it for ANY compact car I have owned in the past. its so amazing, i cant even explain, just drive one! especially one of the loaded ones, WOW! is all i have to say.

1 Reason that really captivates me on this car is it's safety features! im a 24yrs old and a very aggressive driver whenever i see a wide highway, i would definitely squeeze the gas pedal! thats why rather than going to Civic and Corola which body are very soft, and unsafe, i will picked this CRUZE anytime of the day! If you want safety car for less cost, CRUZE is for you!

  • @brentrivera

@skittleschocolate quality? the cruze is made from better materials than the corrola or civic. Have u seen their interiors? they look so bulky, unorganized, and childish... but then again, im not in the market for this class of car..

Cruze 2010 owner here. I fell in love with this car the moment I saw it and bought it right away. However, it was extremely unreliable and kept breaking down. Transmission died a year later at 30k miles. Engine died at 90k miles. So many things broke down and ended up spending a lot of time and money in the shop.
It was fun to drive and looked reall sexy, when it functioned.

@CrimeSpree33 i just bought a chevy cruze and found that it's overall a very short car, not very long, so although a coupe would look nice, it gets a similar styling to other coupes yet can still fit 3 in the back which is why I like it so much. The review is great too!

  • @AgentDuke007
    @AgentDuke007 13 ปีที่แล้ว

I just bought a new ECO, 6-speed manual transmission. I tested about every car out there in this class, as well as every model of cruze - and I have to say the ECO blew all the other cars away. The LTZ is a sweet ride, but the ECO is getting 50 MPG. I got it for an amazing price-$19K exactly. I also tested the automatics, but not as smooth as the manual - the tubo and shifting seem to fight a bit. You will want the manual ECO.
It's untested, but that's what warranties are for. We'll see.

I think the new 200C is going to be a value queen. The V6 will make 287 HP, a MyGig navigation system and it will ring in at $25,000. Yes the Cruze gets higher MPG, but the 200C makes no compromises.

drove the cruze and i absolutely loved it. I am usually a ford guy myself but i've tried a lot of the smaller cars. Cruze is great to drive, better than the civic by far. quieter than the civic. Better overall comfort than the civic/corolla. However, resell is a factor but more importantly dependability is gonna be a matter because I drive a whole goddamn lot

@kabasti 4.3L Vortec engine. Probably one of the most reliable engines they've ever made. My family has had a 1990 Safari and 1998 Astro. Had the Safari for 14 years and it was still working when we got rid of it and bought the Astro which we still have. Both powered by the 4.3L vortec. Fantastic engine and the old Astros/Safari's run a long time. The caprice was well liked too.

I would buy one for sure, My 97 cavalier had almost 200k on it and was still in good shape and running, my dads 91 gmc has about 225k on it and still going strong. I take care of my cars and they take well care of me. If I can do the same thing in a cruze vs a civic for less gimme the keys to the cruze, because I got my $'s worth from my cavalier. GM is making a comeback and they will we just need to get behind them & all US companies. That's job creation

I agree with everything this guy says in the review....drove it through some twisting turns and wow, felt like I was bolted to the street the whole time, great steering feel. It isn't fast feeling tho, the fiesta which has a smaller engine and supposedly slower 0-60 just felt more fun to drive but this The interior is great but 1 MAJOR thing...backseat felt smaller than the Fiesta, I'm 6' 1", fit in fiesta's hatch, head hit the roof in this.

I only wish this car came out before I just released a c-class... I couldn't stomach the look of the civic, and would never touch a toyota with a 10 foot pole. But this car I would buy alone for its looks. I suspect that it will maintain a very high resale value because I think it will blow away the competition. Keep on chugging GM!

I was driving one as a rental. Has nice pickup for a small engine, sounds nice went you give her. I do not like the placement of the buttons for the radio but overall not bad for a car. Great on Gas. But I still like SUV's or pickup trucks.

to what the Japanese brands did in the early nineties...when they gained control of the market by providing more vehicle for the money and a a better or equal price point...Ron makes a great point towards the end of video...Would you buy this vehicle based on what it brings to the table? Or would you pass it up solely based on the past history of the company in this vehicle segment...If you were to compare the Cruze to a similar model from the Japanese brands you would be surprised to find out.^

  • @guyNbluejeans

I test drove a Cruze yesterday and didn't find it to be that big of a deal. The steering wheel on that cross part looked to be painted plastic and when I stepped on it a bit it's like there wasn't much there at all. I wouldn't rule out getting one but after doing lots of research on it I thought it would be more than what it was. It could be the my expectations were just way too high. It happens.

    Manual FTW!
I really wish more auto manufacturers would implement a manual in more of their models. Drivers have become lazier over the years; a manual transmission just doesn't cut it in regards to popularity these days. They're cheaper to maintain; just replace a clutch plate and you're good to go. CVT is not the way, IMO.
I'm sure I'll catch flak for this, but it's just my opinion. Keep that in mind when replying.

@quatlen ...improving their service, the reliability of their cars, and overall customer satisfaction. Everyone needs some drastic event to help motivate change. For GM it took nearly almost losing their company. Some companies might have realized the error in their ways sooner, but at that point doesn't matter. Either improve or make way for better competitors. That is the way marketing works.

@srtrcr Well Like I said, you keep jumping back from V6 to V8 which is it? Or it's left you stranded but it's sitting in your driveway now? But that engine and trans is fairly new only debuting in the CTS and Camaro. I work with a GM dealership in parts Anthony Autogroup Buick, GMC and formerly Pontiac. For a Car that has so many Trans Issues have not seen one in service for what your speaking on. But I do know this they do sell very well indeed. Good day I'm done kinda boring now

@stutzman2 - Well that is fair enough. It's up the them to show you that the product is equal to or above par. But after hearing how much was going to pensions that can now be allocated to quality components etc., I have alot more confidence. This car base costs $14995 in Canada, pretty good price for what you get. I was at a Scion dealership a couple months ago - the egos took up the showroom, albeit somewhat for good reason, but made it tough to deal with them.

the previous generation lineup that had a hard time gaining consumer confidence mainly for the lack of reliability, build quality and value. On the other side the Japanese auto builders Honda, Toyota and Mitsubishi have been cutting a few corners on their products, from switching their local Japanese parts and components suppliers to the build and standard amenities in the lower end models and even the higher end models. @7477238 I don't know what model it was. I see that I wrote that there was chrome plastic on the steering wheel. That's not so. The stuff was around the speedo and tac, as I recall. The steering wheel did look to be made of a cheap plastic, though. It's hard to explain. I must admit that I study better when there's no sales man there. If possible, it would be good to rent one for a day or two to get a sense of what's good and what isn't. I hope Chevy sells millions of 'em.

How much more refined this time around the American car is compared to it's foreign rivals...And yes you could argue that globalization has now dispersed the notion that buying domestic means nothing more than a badge presence and that Toyota and Honda have been so successful here in the US that they are almost seen as domestic vehicles...but the dividends still return to the country of origin and that can't be overlooked.

I can't stand the LOOK of new Chryslers but I currently drive a 6 year old Dodge Stratus ES sedan w/ 146k miles. Everything on the car is original. Literally NOTHING has been replaced but oil/fiter & air filters and it's still going strong. I see GM gave their workers big bonuses for a profitable yr, if GM has extra money laying around, they should
send some to all the customers that paid to repair their defective head gaskets on all GM v6 motors, that seemed to go bad right after the 36k warranty expired. same with their transmissions. I might buy a Cruze, after its been around a few yrs, to see if it has any mechanical integrity, and prove to me it is reliable.

@stutzman2 - Last review I checked of the Cobalt SS showed it wiping the arses of every competitor as far as speed, handling, braking etc. out of the factory, before mods. Personally I never liked the design, and the four door design was atrocious, so I'm somewhat on your line of thinking, but I do think you're overzealous in hating on US products - Cruze was delivered overseas quite successfully for a over a year now - don't be a hater for hatings sake.

Why do people worry about resale value? Why purchase the car if your not going to keep it? I've never understood that. Make an educated decision on the car you want and purchase it. (This is not to include obvious life changes that demand you up/downgrade your car) but for a basic piece of transportation, why buy if youre going to resale? My car is 21yrs old, still running. I'll just buy another and pay it off.

For being an electric car this looks cool. Not a Box on Wheels.

The Cobalt and Cruze are just modified Cavaliers. Why GM kept changing the name is something I just cant understand.

@OrangeChickenist more reliable than a german built car, i can tell you that. A4's and Jetta's and 328i's are all great cars don't get me wrong, but they're known for breaking down so often, requiring more regular maintenence and they're parts/maintenence cost soooooo much, they're a waste.
Now everyone talks trash about chevy's, but if you spend some money on a good chevy (like a Trailblazer not a shit Cavalier) you will find it has value, and you will enjoy it. This is one to enjoy n keep
