      mid 90s geo prizms. Find one under 90k miles, jump on it! Worth every dime I've dumped into mine I found with a whopping 59k on it in 2016. Have spent about $2500 on it replacing the differential and all the rubber and seals on it, but I expect that car to outlast every other car on the road today for a total price of $5,700 total invested.

    I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze LS, I use it for Uber in Seattle. That means, the car gets a beating, with all the hills.... Queen Ann Hill, Downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill, Magnolia. It's almost impossible to find a street in the Seattle area, that doesn't have some kind of elevation. I bought the car used, with 117,000 miles on it. Now it has over 200,000 on it. No engine issues whatsoever. I only had to change the PCV valve once. Other than that, I only had to change the front wheel bearings. New breaks of course almost every 6 months, because of all the hills and city driving and oil changes with premium synthetic oil. I still can't believe how reliable the car is. I would actually say it's the most reliable car, that I've ever had. I had over 25 cars in my lifetime.

      Same car for me. The 1.8 seems to be solid. In my searches, I seem to find most complaints are with the early versions of the 1.4 turbo. Reminds me of the early (2003-2004) 2.0t Saab ecotechs. Couple years in, they worked out a lot of those kinks.

    I have a 2012 RS LT 1.4L turbo with 160,000 miles I bought it with 75k miles and have had coolant issues since the beginning. I’ve replaced all the coolant lines, resivor, water pump, fan, everything to do with the coolant minus the radiator! The thermostats have went out a few different times, But all the replacements have been fairly easy and I’ve been able to do them myself. I’ve also came across the PCV valve issue more than once and even a common oil leak from that head gasket as well that was fixed with sealant. The turbo line is also something that was common they even redesigned the part with 2 o-rings instead of one. There’s a lot more issues I’ve had with the Cruze but Overall I love this car but it has caused a lot of problems and would not get another.

      That's a lot of miles for what is considered a "throw away" car. Look after your car and it will look after you. Two weeks ago I bought my daughter a 2015 Cruze with 86,000 miles on it. Paid $4300. The seller was motivated as his wife was expecting and they wanted something bigger. I put new tires on it and it needs new pads and rotors. Other than that, it runs quite smooth.

    My car is a 2014 Cruze LT. I bought it with 41,600 on the odometer. More than three years into ownership, my car now has more than 64,000 miles on it. In the life of my car, it's had some issues which were fixed. It's had a bad water pump, bad radiator fan, bad PCV valve, bad oil pan gasket, and bad valve cover gasket. Since those issues were present when I bought my car, I'm convinced that the previous owner just didn't want to pay to have those issues fixed. Since my car was under an extended warranty, I didn't have to pay to have the repairs done. I've kept up on the maintenance of my car and it's been very reliable. It's gotten me to where I need and want to go. I'm a firm believer that if you take care of your vehicle, it will take care of you. I'll consider myself quite lucky if I beat the odds and my car makes it to 200,000 miles.

    I have a 2013 Chevy Cruze that is under 40k miles. It had some weird temporary problems with the car having a faint Low Ram signal that fixed itself after you turned it off and restarted. There was also an issue with the steering wheel and that fixed itself after shutting off and restarting. Other than that it has been reliable. I believe it was a problem with the computer system in the car being overloaded with too many commands

    Cruze with 97k miles here, so far my car has been holding up quite well, the heated seat for the driver seat went out a month ago, I’ve had an issue with the thermostat, and the window motors have gone out twice, but other than that I haven’t had any issues with it. I should however mention that a very small coolant leak is beginning to develop but since I caught it early it should be any trouble.

    Bought the car with 32000 miles on 2018,now 2020 it has 90800 miles.
    So far I had to replace the valve cover (defect GM design) twice and thank god for the power warranty that got extended the second time by GM ( I got a letter told me that)recently 09/2020.
    Replace some coolant hose and parts.
    All this was done at Chevy dealership and they always found something else to charge me for it.
    The car it is running great right now and I have a loan for an other 4 years ,hoping that it last that long.

    my 2013 cruze has 238k on it, engine replaced at 100k user error lol, but since then upgraded a few things such as coil pack, spark plugs, and K&N air filter. Turbo was replaced at around 210k again user error with starting and going right away in -20 whether, cooling system was replaced at around 160k and that was the factory cooling system so I guess not bad 160k lifespan. Other than those issues my PVC system has not failed yet and to my knowledge has not been replaced unless it has been replaced with the engine replacement at 100k I was not the owner for that. Drives great and a fun little car. If you maintain it properly with fluid changed on everything such as trans oil, engine oil, and keep up to tabs on your coolant and brake fluid I would think it would last a while.

      @@lolichan5801 something that always happens is one of your pcv check valves will corrode and then cause others to fail, including one that is built into your valve cover so you'll end up having to replace that. Otherwise you could end up leaking oil like me among other more common issues and losses
      What you should do is instal a PCV fix kit for the cruze. You can Google and youtube it to find and learn to instal.
      It will reroute pcv gasses so that the notorious valve that fails is not needed anymore.

    2015 chevy cruze is what I bought about 5 months ago in april. I took it to a dealership (not where i got the car) and they spilled oil on my transmission case above my ecm and battery and cold air intake (the map on the intake had a dribble of oil as well) They pressure washed it and now INSTANT electrical problems. Anyway you mentioned the neg ground issue. There is a recall for that neg cable on some cars (call your chevy dealership to see if ur car is included). Anyway the cable is the one that goes from the battery through a sensor type thing then to the body of the car. The crimping on the cable to connect to the post of the battery is supposed to be defective from the factory. Anyway its about $40 and if its under warranty then it should be free. I changed mine without checking to see if it was under the warranty. Right now dealers are stocking extra of them so they can handle the demand.

    Car has aged well looks and interior wise, I've been told by a friend who's a mechanic that he's replaced many motors and transmissions on gm products over any other brand with high mileage he says that in the 2000's they where build like throw away cars, once you got your use you would move on, just last week I was helping him remove a transmission from a 2011 Chevy Malibu, as it had no reverse at 150k miles. I'm fortunate enough that my 02 300M Special hasn't given me any real trouble, thats not driver error, I am mechanically inclined however so I dont have a difficult time working on my fleet but for 210k miles, original bottom end and trans it still drives like new. However it is showing its age with having cracked but not torn or ripped leather. But the underneath and exterior is mint! Should have you do a review on it lol. That then blows the diaphragm in the cam cover band the pressure causes the oil to leak from the cover on the passenger side. If driven like this a lot, the motor will fail because the seals and everything that's getting pressurized that shouldn't, start to give out. There is a kit to fix this issue thats aftermarket.

    In 1995 at a time when 70's 80's cars where still around with cars rusting out at 10 years old and a car reaching 63,000 miles = 100'000kms was approaching near end of life, here I was a young person buying a high risk , high mileage Honda CRX Delsol with Vtec.
    It was a 13 year old car with well over 87,000 miles =140,000 kms and beyond the normal tolerances of buying a used car with plenty of life left screaming alarm bells of I should not be buying this.
    At 13 years old that Honda never had the rust problems of the Cruze and looked like a new car with the orignal engine and transmission.
    Now Feb 2021 with the car nearly 30 years old with 185,000 = 298,000 kms miles I still have the vehicle. I am happy to say that car still has the original engine and transmission. It really feels like it can do it all over again and not yet reaching the half way point.
    Lesson and point of the story is a 1992 Honda Delsol (actually any late 80's and all of 90's Honda) had and still has more life, reliability and quality than a decades young Holden Cruz (and many other newer cars).

I do have a blown out speaker though but thats about it. Sadly, I'll be changing to a new car in the new year but I loved this car even with the issues. It's the engines that are failing as automakers use more plastic as it's cheaper, lighter and easier to mold. Have had my 2012 Chevy Cruze LT RS since new. I have metallic black, leather, heated seats, etc. I have 190,000 miles on it. Highly maintained, changed oil every 6,000 miles. It has been the best car I ever owned. No major issues. Absolutely love this car. I also have a 2019 Corvette and a 2019 Silverado Trail Boss. Hands down been my favorite car. I would recommend this car to anyone.

    replaced my engine at 100k miles. There are PCV issues that need to be addressed with these. mainly the check valve in the intake manifold and the diaphram in the valve cover. The turbos tend to crack from an oil streak from this.
    The aluminum block will warp if it ever does get overheated so you cant compromise the cooling system. After 10 years its common to need to replace the plastic water outlet and thermostat housing.
    Mine ran good until it didnt and getting it back into operating condition took a lot of work and money.

    It’s a shame that this car has some reliability issues because it really does punch WAY above its weight in the nvh and ride quality categories. It feels like a much pricier car when driving it.

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Every car has problems out there. And the term "reliability" has been distorted and now is used as a synonym of "something went wrong". Reliability means the vehicle isn't constantly leaving you stranded. If a ln infotainment malfunctions that doesn't make a car unreliable.

    Hello friend, I would love for you to give me your opinion, here in Brazil we have the Chevrolet CRUZE, with an ECOTEC 1.8 engine, I hear many complaints about this engine, such as failure in fuel injectors, causing hydraulic shim, breaking pistons and bending the pistons. connecting rods, another problem is the camshaft pulleys that cause a lot of problems, here in Brazil the components of this engine are very expensive. would you recommend me to buy this car? I have many doubts and would like to hear your opinion, thank you very much !!!

    @SternDrive ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought a brand new 2014 Cruze with the 1.8 because I was afraid of the turbo issues on the 1.4. So far it has been great, and because it has the manual 6 speed the fuel economy is great. I have a video on how nice the car shifts. I have had zero issues with this car and we're almost into 2023. Last winter the check engine light came on when the temp went down to -35 for a while. I had it checked and they said it was a timing issue, but the timing in fact was OK they said. They said it might resolve itself and they were right. The light has not come on since. I am delighted with this car and would buy another but sadly GM does not make them any more, and since I have never owned an automatic I have no idea what I will do when it comes time to replace this car. But the way it is going now, maybe it will run OK for the next ten years.

    As long as you clue into the cooling system issues these Cruzes have (more obvious on the 1.4T) and change out the cooling system components these cars will be just fine. The motor itself is solid and the transmission is reliable too. Electronics don't give much issues and suspension components are easy and cheap to replace. I work as a Service Advisor at a GM dealership and one thing I recommend to the customers who own Cruzes is for us to pressure test the cooling system especially if their service history shows no cooling system service and the mileage is starting to creep up on particular examples.

    BUST! I know because I have one. Prior to the Cruze, I had a cobalt. And lemme tell you...I.. loved that car. Prior to getting wrecked (thanks to some female speeding in a jetta and hit a car that hit my car that made me hit the car in front of me who hit the car in front of it) I had 188,000+ miles on it. Only major issues I had with it were the spark plugs, fuel pump, and a few other things. Car was paid off and everything. So when it was time to buy another car I bought a Chevy Cruze. I've had more problems with the Chevy Cruze than I ever had with the cobalt. Chevy Cruze seems to always have problems. I probably won't be buying another Chevy for a long time.

Except for tires, brakes and rotors along with oil changes, everything was original on the car. Over 100,000 miles I was the only owner..totalled it and now I grabbed a 2011 Cruze with 71,000 on it. Had to replace the thermostat right away and it's been good to me since. Still not like my Cobalt was, but I can't complain much .. it does what it needs to until I am able to upgrade.
