- Originally built in 1978 sits this massive custom estate home on 2 acres.
it currently sits completely abandoned most likely awaiting demolition.
here is a tour of it in its final days.
We live in my in-laws house that was built in the 60s. They did update the cabinets, hardwood floors, appliances. But our house is paid for and we live in it without a mortgage. The original furniture from a local furniture shop that can’t be bought today. It’s so heavy(oak) that it can’t be moved!! We love it.
That's the best, no mortgage and solid furniture that actually doesn't break down after 2 years of purchasing. I always heard the famous saying out of my parents mouths "they sure don't build 'em like that anymore" and it's 100% true. Thankfully my Dad was one of those Jems who build anything amd everything himself, just once, because that's all that was needed, it was build solid and with good materials.
Good afternoon ❤ Nice homes torn down to waste 😢 thank you for the trip 😊
Such a beauty,I don't understand the reasoning for destroying such a beauty.I Canada just going to live in junky built condos or apartments?what a shame to destroy these well built homes.😒👍🇺🇸
Developers buy them, tear them down, and build a myriad of cookie-cutter McMansions instead. I wish the government would prevent them from tearing down these beautiful homes when there’s nothing wrong with them.
It's all the greedy land developers. They'll demolish million dollar homes and then go home and sleep in their multimillion homes.
The master bath is sick. As well as the master. I'll savage those chandeliers, gorgeous...I hope they do. Stairway is absolutely gorgeous.
That's crazy, to spend all that money, just to tear it down. Make that make sense . That Stone fireplace family room is gorgeous
It's such a waste how these homes are just demolished ... It makes me sad.
I agree with you
I love this House! I wish they were not demolishing this place.
Agreed
The flooded basement is a big problem.
I totally agree! Most of us will never be able to afford a home this big and beautiful, so to see them go to waste is a travesty for me!!
I like the glass bowl basen, lovely 🌹
I’ve been following you for about 3years now and I was wondering if you ever found like a hidden room ?? Go Dodgers
You're looking healthy and happy. Thank you for the adventure
nice home ' thank you for the video
101k !!!!! You did good !!!! I'm happy for you. Keep doing what you're doing coz it looks good on you.
I can not get over the beautiful homes you come upon. Why are they being torn down?
This is a beautiful home but I can’t even begin to imagine how to fix the lake in the basement without paying for the whole house again. It’s not even just the water but everything that comes with it, especially the mold. That alone helps me understand why it’s being demolished. 😢
Hi Ethan!! Loved this house, shame it is going to be torn down. You are so respectful and try not to disturb the ones who are videoing around you. Sad they dont reciprocate😢😢 Keep up the great work!
I agree. Ethan always goes out of his way so he doesn’t interrupt others filming, but they never do the same for him. In fact, it seems they go out of their way to disrupt him. Ugh
Ethan, I missed the intro. Why exactly are they demolishing this house especially when it seems like they were updating it?? This is a beautiful home for sure!!! I think it's cute that you call ceiling lights pot lights. Being neighbors, I'm not sure why we Americans call them canned lights.💗💗
I live in the USA and we call them recessed lights.
It’s ridiculous how the supply and demand for houses is off so most people can’t afford to buy one yet they still tear town existing houses making the issue worse
bookcase and front stairs are epic. Blueprints a soo cool! Glad you responded to stuff we were chatting about. I do hope You give it some serious though? The foil paper is cool, my grandma had something like that. Very 80's.
What a beautiful home this must have been. Such a shame that it was left vacant and now slated for demolition. Great video Ethan. Really enjoy how you show these homes. 😍
That master was big and nice! Love my eighties houses!!! Thanks for bringing joy to my heart. The cozy vibe if full of comfy furniture. I can picture how beautiful it would have been. Your killing it Ethan! Thanks for your hard work bringing us on these adventures. Your the best❤
Love your conjecture here and additional thinking, such as the outside building plan and why the house is being taken down so soon after the remodel.
A good presentation. Thank you.
I hate when they get torn down!!! It makes me sad!!!!😢
Hi Ethan, just a suggestion, when you have the photos of the basement-show them please. Better yet, if you have the photos from before remodeling-show them please! That was a pretty place, except for kitchen backsplash in the bathroom etc. Great idea having a dark brown tub for well water. Seeya Ethan.
Classic 80s 2 story house. Very nice. They'll knock it down down and put up some monstrosity. Thank you for sharing.
I love that staircase. It is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the lovely tour.
Such a beautiful house… so many unique 80s style decor that I really appreciate because they don’t make homes like this anymore. You can tell that back in the day it was Prime. Too bad the basement was flooded I would have loved to see it 😭 I lived that brick fire 🔥 place was a treasure. I also wonder why they are having it torn down after renovating it to the max like they did. Great video I very much enjoyed watching this. Greetings from Parma Ohio!
Beautiful home. Yes, that is knotty pine in that family room. Great find Ethan!🧡🏠
You wondered why put so much money into renovations only to stop midway and demo it? I think they were updating when the developer made them an offer they couldn't refuse. It was still in good condition when they left, so I doubt they were struggling financially when they moved out. When money issues are present, there tends to be a more chaotic vibe in the house. That's when you see more personal items left behind due to a hasty or poorly planned exit. This house was loved. Loved by people who made some interesting upgrades that may or may not have been considered improvements by you and your viewers, but...
The basement is full of water, that is probably why Reno’s stopped & is now slated for demolition. Mold, weakened foundation…
That’s a beautiful chandelier upstairs! Wow, I wouldn’t have left it!
They probably renovated it to get more money from the sale
This was such a fantastic home. The amount of space was incredible! I love the original touches left, like the wallpapers especially the one matching the curtains. The staircase and landing was gorgeous, and I totally agree about the flooring. The master bath was really cool! ✌️
OMG, I grew up in that house!!!! I have tons of photos in it! Why are they tearing it down?
wow, that’s really cool. to my understanding it’s being taken down so another house can be built on the property. it’s been a theme in the neighborhood the last few years.
Beaut of a home. Born in '78 of Feb myself. Nifty coincidence ⚡👊😁
Thanks! Ethan for amazing episodes an keep up the great job . Happy Halloween 🎃 too you an everyone
Thanks! You too!
@@ethanminnie Thank you , Ethan
Instead of knocking this house down they should make it into a house for the homeless, it would be better then knocking it down I mean fix it up a little bit so the bathroom, kitchen stuff works you know and should be fine , I mean come on to me this is ashame them knocking down every single house just because a few years old my goodness to me they could do so much better than this!!!!
We have an oak table like that with 2 additions to make it longer. Works great when the family comes. Then it’s smaller just for hubby and I.
The oak staircase is gorgeous. It is so sad that they are tearing these beautiful homes down, probably to replace it with a home built from the cheap building materials of today. Thank you for being so respectful of the homes you film. Also, it’s been a little bit since I’ve watched one of your videos due to my schedule. Congratulations on reaching over 101,000 subscribers! It is very well deserved. Here’s to 100,000 more!! 🎉
Use what you know to help others figure out what they want.
Glad I lit a spark! Be careful, out there!
Gorgeous home, a shame it's going away!! Insane actually
Such a beautiful elegant home. Love the layout, the huge living room, huge kitchen, cool front office with the built ins, the gorgeous stone fireplace. Everything about the house was cool. Love the staircase. Would be neat to see the chandelier lit up with all of lights shining on the wall in a cool pattern. Master bath with the oversized tub another plus. Perhaps a few renovations to buckling floors and the house would be good to go. I would love to live in such a house and somehow found myself imagining how I would decorate for Christmas; would definitely need more than one tree. Guess I could only imagine since it’s probably demolished by now. Such a shame. I’ll never understand how a classic gorgeous home could be wrecked in favor of something not as nice but I’m sure more expensive. Thanks for sharing this Ethan. Take care be well and stay safe.
In the dining room...the top is a hutch. The bottom is a buffet. The chandelier is beautiful, as is the master bath. All of the homes we built in the U.S. after the 80s did not have popcorn ceiling .
Those bathrooms might be from the 80’s but someone remolding from the 60s-70s would love it. Wonder if the owners would see certain pieces to someone willing to sell it
All the houses u show are amazing it is such a shame they are being destroyed.
what a beautiful home 45 years of age and a gem shame about the basement but the rest of the house looked lovely glad that you had Noah with you Ethan great video and another great explore looking forward to seeing you in the next video
Thank you again - beautiful home
What a beauty Ethan. Nice bathrooms and wallpaper. Master is huge. Bummer that the basement is flooded. I would have liked to have seen that bar. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
wall paper is what they call a string. Had in my 1st apt. Even wall papered the interior doors. Looked so cool!
Such a beautiful house and what a pity it’s going to be bulldozed down thanks Ethan 👍🇦🇺💜
I love this place. So sad it’s going to be demolished. I hope they take that chandelier, it’s beautiful. The staircase also beautiful. I would have loved to have this house.
All that wood is so pretty. The glass doors are pretty too. The sink in that bathroom is pretty. Wow that wallpaper even on the ceiling. I bet it was a beautiful home
Lovely home!
The piece of furniture in the dining room is a China cabinet.
I have to admit that I like those tiles in the bathrooms.
The chandilier is gorgeous, and I think that it's timeless. It could go with anything!
But then I would have a mix of decor! I like to be different and my home would definitely be unique!
Cool that you found the blueprints!
Great explore as usual! Peace! ✌️
Happy Sunday! God bless from Shawnee, OK! Sorry I missed the live...what a beautiful home...I hate that your freezing f 🥶or our sakes but soooo very glad you did...💓💓💓
Beautiful house such a waste knocking it down .thankyou for the video Ethan you never dissapoint 😊.
Hello Ethan 👋 Thank you for another great video ❤️Very nice house too 😁I love it 😎The staircases is looking great 👍
Loved this place, and the chandelier is beautiful. And you were cold at first and the snow isn’t there yet so bundle up on your treks to venture everywhere, getting frostbite is very bad,as I once lived in Alaska, Colorado...cold states before discovering the warmer states, and so maybe the cold temperatures drove them out. But the warm light in the bathroom was unusual, big places are hard to heat, but love the fireplaces for sure ❣️❣️And you’re handsome,so watch out,out there! When you said you weren’t desirable.Well Thanks for showing this epic retro find!🎉
Thank you Ethan for showing us this home. I absolutely love it. How can someone just tear this down. Sigh. I always enjoy your videos. Blessings and always be safe. 🎉😊
Nice house… but having water in the basement could be the start of additional problems, and the uneven floor, tearing it down is the only option.
FYI
Nice tour! Just to let you know, when you sell a home, the sellers must leave everything connected to the construction, even drapes and blinds.. This includes lighting. Unless, it has been specifically documented.
Before they demolish the house I wish they would take out as much as they could to resell those items. People would buy tubs, faucets and cabinets. Only the shell of the house should be demolished. What a shame!
Very nice house. It's a shame that it will be torn down. Stay safe 👌 👍 🙏 ❤
Very, Very Nice I would love that house great find and great video Ethan
I bet when the electricity was on the sump pumps would have kept the basement dry. Thank you Ethan!
I would love to have this house❤ I love the big tub
Great video! The places you find are amazing! A suggestion is to slow down a tiny bit when switching views back and forth. The camera swinging so rapidly is sometimes hard to follow. I want to savor everything you are showing us! Thanks for everything you do!
This house is my favorite! I was asking myself “what happened why is it abandoned?!” Then you revealed the basement 😢
15:43 I agree with you about the tile in the ensuite. The brown shower tile looked original. I don't understand why to miss match the tiles in such a nice house. Also, they had only one sink. That seemed odd to me. But the house is very nice and
should not be torn down. Great video. P.S. I agree with you about the miss matched color of the hardwood floor.
Such a shame it flooded. If that hadn't happened I think it would still be a lovely home.
Ethan thats a lovely place that back room with the fireplace is probably a billards room,. The Swimming pool in the basement was top-notch! the parties this place had abck in the day
I enjoy this one I wish that the basement wasn’t flooded but that what houses does when it just sitting for a while
Hi Ethan 😎🏎💨,Wow that was a nice house and the staircase was gorgeous and that chandelier was absolutely gorgeous wow!! I love the stone fireplace that was really awesome. That room with the stone fireplace was definitely in the 70s. I like the French doors. I loved the other fireplace with the white frame ❤.I wonder why the family left. That’s cool you found the original blueprints,I love looking at the details on those of who was the person who created that house. To bad it’s getting torn down.Wonder why it’s flooded in the basement. Some of the rooms were spacious. Nice house Ethan 😎🏡
Can’t wait to see your next beautiful 🏡 house. Stay awesome as always 😎🏎💨
Nice house. I agree with you about the floor upstairs. It would look alot better if it was the same color as the stairs. Good video keepthem coming❤
Even doors are expensive and someone could update with those expensive doors.
Good find. Wish you would incorporate the real estate listing photos of before. It would have been nice to see the basement bar and fireplace.
That den with all that shelf space would hold all my sports memorabilia. Popcorn ceilings?👎 I have those and are going when we paint the house. That’s a long trek to the laundry room with a basket of clothes. Needed laundry shoot. Nothing in the garage?🤔 Thanks for the tour. So much money going down the tube.
The item you referred to as molding around the chandelier is actually called a medallion.
The hardwood floor is quite impressive.
Thanks so much love this home stunning , maybe thats why they left the home its flooding they couldnt get it out?.love the blue prints .This kept giving jus wow huge the basement looks like another room for family. Ethan fantastic bro.Take care be healthy for next adventure explore.
Cool downstairs bathroom. Loved that 80's wallpaper! 😂
Can't see anything in basement when you said, "See over there?"
Wish you had better lighting 🙂
Nice house! The master bedroom is probably as big as my whole house!!!!!! 😂😂😂
I would have used that one room upstairs as a reading room/den, not a bedroom. Good video 👍
Thank you for sharing Ethan 😊
what a world we live in, the waste of materials used in this home. The resources that would have gone into building a home like this. I find this despicable. To be destroyed and discarded in landfills like all the others like this. I suspect some of the items put aside may be left for Habitat for Humanity/ Restore to come in and remove, including the chandelier. I suspect what happened here is the owners got a sweet offer, deal they could not refuse from either a developer or investor to build a monster home on the land. Looks like this place sits on a decent sized lot. Thanks for another great video !!
Congrats 101K subscribers 🎈🧨🎉
The powder room by the laundry room, the wallpaper and curtains are by country curtains. They were real popular in the 70’s early 80’s
Beautiful home! Lost me at the floor plans…
That house and dining room furniture is beautiful
The house is nice. But the reason for it being abandoned, is what has me curious. How did the basement get flooded? Was it a major storm or a case of bad plumbing? Obviously something happened and the repairs must have been extreme.
My compliments Ethan for working with an associate on the site- good security.
Extension to the table, nice wall paper in the dining room, nice stone fire place, yes looks like pine.
I quite agree other people just gets in the way, very bland large house thanks for the video.
Good on you for locking the doors whilst in the house.
You know someone would love those glass sinks!!!
It is terrible how they must let a house get into this kind of disrepair, before they decide to
take it down" instead of finding a way to 'restore these homes early on' and this surely had great bones in it, and could have been a beautiful home for someone or family! It is terrible how they are doing this over and over again. Must be no one was left in will, or they just could not afford the home and lost it and was in debt and in lawyers' hands too long? Getting caught up in papers messes is sad.
Be very careful as it may have people coming and going if they have plans to take it down? Always be careful of course lol
Thank you for this and other ones. Just could have made someone a perfect home if caught in time! Hoems for people are needed in his day and they could have maybe offered it at a bit of a discount and prompt a quick type of sale before water as in basement etc which would ruin a house. It must have needed a sump pump? Not sure if I spelled it right, but you may know what I mean? Bu without electric, that would not matter, as it would not work even then!
The Chandeliers are stunning!
Another nice one. thanks for sharing . ❤❤❤ stay safe love ya
Good lord, somebody dropped some major bank for the refittment of that home..😱
Such a shame..
Ethannnnnnn! 😊my happy time watching your vid man. Really cool place
The molding around the chandeliers/lights are called ceiling medallions.👍
I love oak, too. I hate when people say it's outdated.
place you could only dream of . thanks for sharing . ❤❤❤ stay safe love ya
Thumbs up on the video Ethan 👍
Very nice master bedroom and closet!
Another nice one. Thanks.
Ethan … glass bowl sinks “look” great. But they are awful! You can only turn the water gently, otherwise the water swoops up the other side and out. Also, they’re impossible to keep clean and sparkling and if they had well water? Yikes! And there is no such thing as a ‘boring’ bar. 😂😂😂
you have a great eye for detail. That would make you some big bucks. Use it to your advantage. People willl pay big bucks too. And that wall has knotty pine walls.
2nd comment- I love how easily impressed you are, Ethan. You are most definitely an old soul. You have so much appreciation for things of the past. Edit- I wish you would share pictures of the old real estate ad. I am sure there is a reason you don’t, but they would be fun to see!!
Hey Ethan. I'm new to the channel. I love your content . I don't know if you noticed, but at 10:09 & 11:09, I saw either an insect or an orb fly past? Both times from left to right, which you were in the dining room! It really doesn't look like an insect though. Have a look and see! Keep up the great work. And yes, what an absolute waste. Its all about the money right. I'm not fond of property developers!! 😊
