FYI for the helmet thing for new riders. Check the clearance section of your preferred gear store, especially at the end and beginning of the year. I've purchased Scorpion and Arai helmets for as low as $60. The helmet that spared me during my accident was $55, you can get a good helmet from a trusted manufacturer without breaking the bank as long as you're not picky about style. Same for other gear. My first jacket was originally $400, I got it on sale for $80 and it lasted me 4 years through rain and shine.
Me and my friends accidentally lit up a gas can while trying to make our bonfire bigger. My buddy's dad put one of those fire blankets on it before it exploded and all that happened was a small pop and some black smoke. Those things are surprisingly crazy effective.
It burns the exact same as any normal polyester clothes, the T-shirt you're probably wearing right now would offer about the same levels of lack of protection and melted plastic on skin. If you want to cosplay your favourite race driver on Halloween but don't want to spend big cash on a proper fireproof race suit (which also has a very pungent smell), you can get that and do some logo embroidery. If you try to race in it, you'll get tossed immediately since it has no certification.

They give you a free DOT sticker when you buy a cheap plastic skull cap at bike shops. The DOT standard is fine - its meant for cranial protection against road impact. Though I agree Snell is always going to be better.

These items are just great for my 8nm motion platform sim racing kit. I used to put a can of razor foam under the seat as a fire extinguisher but you guys definitely showed me the way to go for some pretty serious upgrades. I appreciate.

China has almost no copyright or trademark protection laws, aside from a very few exceptions that were only granted to convince foreign investors to come into China. As an example check out the Chinese windrunner vehicles. It's literally just a knock off range Rover to the point where if you debadge a windrunner and put range Rover badging on there until you actually get into the vehicle you would know that it's a copy.
Good luck suing Chinese manufacturers, as a communist state most businesses are partially owned by the Government and as such are nearly impossible to sue from the outside making them basically immune to copyright laws.
A fire blanket actually saved my house from burning up. A lighter exploded in a bowl of other lighters big ass fire but since it was in the bowl it was easy to put out with the blanket.

I should point out that even though the melon didn't split in the quality helmet, 100g is enough for the impact to kill you. To only get a concussion it would have to be around 10g. So that test is too severe to determine any difference in the safety of the helmets.
I've landed on my head/shoulders in full race leathers after flying through the air for 10m or so on a bike. On the road, not dirt. I cracked a quite expensive helmet on the rear, the worst part you can hit on your head. Was a bit slow for a week or two but recovered fine and have no long term effects. Don't skimp on helmets. Even a $200 one is going to do a decent job. Beyond that you are paying for incremental safety improvements in design, or better visor etc, but most importantly. lightness and anti fog/comfort features that improve your safety passively. Lighter the helmet, the less energy your neck has to deal with. I'm glad I had a light helmet when I smacked my head that bad.. I've broken another, cheaper helmet and chipped/cracked teeth, slightly knocked jaw out for a bit (80mph, flying 20m+ this time..). BUT it still protected my brain, which is the most important part. Teeth can be fixed and your jaw goes back to normal in most cases. But your brain is not so easy to repair, look after it!
When it comes to knowing safety gear, Warren is the man. He's been in the business for over 30 years. And trying to stop the fakes from China is like the old Wack a Mole game. Some people are dumb enough to think they are getting a killer deal when they can get a $750.00 suit for $149.00. The only way that's going to happen if it's used suit ( which is great as long as it's the right size and doesn't have residual skid marks), it was stolen, or it's a CHINA knock off that won't meet the safety standards of a shop rag. If it's safety gear, buy from a reputable dealer where you can go and try it on. Your life may depend on that.
60$ helmets are a thing of luxury where I come from. We have stuffs, THH, Axor, Ls2, ......... etc etc coating 50-60$ and still people won’t buy them and go with 10-12$ helmets.
With regards to motorcycle helmets, I think it's worth adding that if it's had a knock/drop the structural integrity may be compromised and it could fail to protect. The helmets dropped here need to be replaced.
I live in estonia, we have the first product the glass breaker in most of the busses in case of emergency and also the fire blanket is used widely acroos the country. Usually they are bigger though. You approach the fire with it and lay it on there and maybe tighten the places close where the oxygen could enter

Those bumper guards work well if it's a flat surface and you dont slip and hammer your throttle like an old person. Great for inching in your LONG car up to pillars while in parking garages.
The Sparco suit never claimed to be fire resistant and even says "fashion" meaning basically "this is to race car LARP your way to Cars and Coffee". It could also be meant for karting, which does not have flame retardant requirements and is just there so your clothes don't sling around and get caught in the chain/axle/etc. as well as to offer skid safety if you were to roll and fall out of the kart. Would've been nice to do an abrasion test before torching it to see if it at least could be used for karting.

Fire safety is why I have a career installing fire suppression systems. Fire can instantly destroy a car or home. Have a fast and reliable way to control it is important. Whether it's to save you and give you time to escape or potentially save your vehicle. You are always the most important part. Save yourself get a good fire suppression system. Even if you don't go to the track, I carry two on my offroad rigs.
Crashed my 600rr in Winter at 65mph. Joe Rocket Jacket, HJC helmet($55 new, on sale) and Alpinestars gloves. Went from 65 to 0, landing on my back. I broke a bunch of ribs where the spine protector didn't cover them, my hands were fine and though the helmet was trashed, no damage to my skull. If you think you can't afford a good helmet, just keep your eyes open for an HJC sale. AFX is also pretty affordable; my best bud crashed his Ninja while wearing an AFX helmet and said it felt like his head hit a pillow.

MURDER CHARGE COMING RIGHT UP!!!! In regards to the fire suite. If a company steals the trademark from another company to put on a product if someone is injured or killed because of that product then the company who made the product can be charged with murder.

Whether it's to save you and give you time to escape or potentially save your vehicle. You are always the most important part. Save yourself get a good fire suppression system. Even if you don't go to the track, I carry two on my offroad rigs.
Crashed my 600rr in Winter at 65mph. Joe Rocket Jacket, HJC helmet($55 new, on sale) and Alpinestars gloves. Went from 65 to 0, landing on my back. I broke a bunch of ribs where the spine protector didn't cover them, my hands were fine and though the helmet was trashed, no damage to my skull. If you think you can't afford a good helmet, just keep your eyes open for an HJC sale. AFX is also pretty affordable; my best bud crashed his Ninja while wearing an AFX helmet and said it felt like his head hit a pillow.

fire blankets work really well for pan fires in a kitchen. Have used them several times. Especially for grease fires.
