It was all hand stitched /hand quilted by an older lady who made quilts for extra income for her family. I have cherished that quilt all these years, but now, I have an entirely new respect for all of her hard work. As a brand new quilter, I can admit that I will probably never attempt this - even on a machine. Donna, your work is fantastic! I would love to see more easy, beginner quilts in your videos. My sister tried to make a Double Wedding Ring quilt a number of years ago and ended up just tossing it in a bag without finishing it. She complained that the pattern was wrong because she could not get the pieces to match up and seeing this video, it is clear that she needed those little notches to help her get the perfect angle to match up the pieces. She passed away in 2013 before these wonderful templates were available. She used a paper pattern that she copied from a magazine. The shapes don’t really match up exactly as you sew them along the curve, they do angle somewhat so it all comes together at the end. This is an amazing teaching video. The tight close-up shots are so helpful in showing exactly what it should look like as you sew along. Amazing videography! And your commentary as you go along is so helpful and I love that yours is not totally perfect and you are ok with that. If yours is not totally perfect I will be happy with mine when it isn’t either. We are way too hard on ourselves, wanting everything to match up perfectly. You are such a great role model. Enjoy the process, rather than stress over it all. What a great way to approach it. Thank you so much for this. Will I make this......probably not yet. I’m not sure I can remain patient enough to work through it. I have a set of templates for the Drunkard’s Path and I think I will try that first to get ready. I’ll know more after I try that if I have the patience to do it. Happy Thanksgiving to your family and all of my quilting friends here on your site. Stay safe everyone!
A piece of advice I was given by someone who won awards for her quilts. Always make a test block or two before cutting up a quilts worth of fabric because printed patterns, particularly newspapers, are not always accurate. This is do to the printers trying to make the pattern fit the space they have to use. I made that mistake with an apple core block from an old KCStar pattern before I remember what she said.
@@jjudy5869 yes, my sister said that was the very last pattern she was going to make from a magazine without making a sample ever again. She said every time she made one from a magazine she had to scramble around to make it work and that it never looks like the quilt in the picture. She said they hurry to get it done and don’t do a good job of editing until they get complaints. She said books are better because they go through a much more rigorous process before printing to make sure everything is correct. I could see from the way Donna manipulated those pieces that my sister had no way of knowing (since the pattern didn’t say or show pictures) how to angle those little pieces so you end up with that perfectly curved piece, plus she pieced the curve and did not have the template. I wonder if I looked around through her stuff if I could find it a salvage it for her. Oh well.
This really makes me appreciate how the old wedding quilts were made. Can you imagine doing this with newspaper patterns? Wow, we have come a long way! Thanks.
I have done these the old fashion way! And doing it that way, I discovered that hand piecing was the only way I was going to get it right! And I still do the quilting by hand! The stitching of the Wedding Ring quilt is a beautiful metaphor for how each person has to give little in any separation to form the perfect union in a lasting relationship. Never would have put that together before watching this video. Thank you!
My next project will be a double wedding ring. I have had templates and etc for 6+ years. Been afraid to tackle it. BUT you make it look so easy. I have done curves before but not with pieced curves. Wish me lucky💥💕 If successful, all credit will go to Donna for this wonderful tutorial 😂🤣
I am currently making this. I have struggled but will finish it for my step son and his wife. Thank you Donna for your wonderful videos and instructions.
I'm not really a quilter but I just LOVE these videos. I get many great tips for my other sewing, and watching Donna sew and teach is just so satisfying. I am clear on the opposite side of the country from Jordan, but if I ever get to the West coast, visiting there will be on my must-do list. Thanks Donna, Matt, and the whole Jordan team!

I'm just a beginner quilter. I am getting started with cushions. I make a lot of mistakes but, like you said HAVE FUN WITH IT and I do. Love you you are a genius thank you Jordan THANK YOU🐾🐾🤓Alicia
The Double Wedding Ring quilt is my favorite quilt pattern. My mother made several of these quilts. Her pattern was a little different than this one. I think the small peices was smaller and I thing there was 9 of them. The end peices where a 4 square. It would take my mother several years to make one because she would make other quilt and keep the little piece pattern in her box when the fabric was to small to cut the pieces to the quilt she was working on she cut the little wedding ring piece. When I was about 16 she was making me one. However my mother needed a cookstove, and a friend said she trade her a stove for the quilt but mom said no it was mine. I told her to trade it and she could make me another one. Longer story short she finally did trade it and started another quilt for me however my mother didn't get finished before she died a few years later. I always said I would make one but I haven't. Mom quilts was all hand stitch and hand quilted. She quilted each side on every seam.
Just beautiful. I would never have dared to tackle this but you’ve made it look doable. Thank you for all your fantastic tutorials, emails and free patterns ❤️
Your a wonderful teacher you make,me want to do these quilts I have always wanted to make a double wedding ring thakyou so very much for such excellent skill at teaching 😀
I love the templates. The slits make it so easy to sew especially, if you're not use to sewing curves. I love Donna's tutorials-they are so easy to follow.
I made a queen sized double wedding ring quilt after watching your video, using the Cutrite template rulers. It has 36 blocks and is made with Tilda fabrics. It is GORGEOUS!
Donna you are a master teacher! You have inspired me to start cutting up scraps as I go to make my very own double wedding ring quilt. Something I never thought I could do. Thank you, thank you for your incredibly generous and expert content! Love, Love, Love your channel!

So excited to get started on this! I have now subscribed to your channel and I will be back, I'm sure!
I am so glad I found you. I have watched many quilting tutorials and I still have trouble understanding. You have a way of explaining the procedure (and why) that it just makes sense. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I got this set. This my favorite quilt pattern and I have tried other ways to no avail. I did a test square and whoa these are a game changer. I learned from this video. Thankyou. I got my set on Amazon!
I have a double wedding ring quilt my grandmother gave me when I got married in 1975. I never realized how much work went into it. She did it all by hand. This is so much easier with the templates. Makes me appreciate the quilt that much more.
I have always wanted to make a wedding ring quilt. My son is getting married this year and I stumbled upon this video so it must be serendipity! Thank you!
Making a double wedding ring quilt is so much easier being a Seamstress first, before becoming a quilter. Easing in is a piece of cake for Seamstresses. Cant wait to make this.
@@adelinafernandez8405 Hola Adelina de Barcelona, yo soy nacida en Sevilla vivo en los Estados Unidos , Desde luego ella es maravillosa como explica todo con detalle.
As a seamstress I pin the bejesus out of curves. I understand quilters desire to get-er-done but the frustration a lot of quilters have with points not matching would go away with a few strategicly place pins.
You honestly made that look so easy! Still terrified of curves, not gonna lie. I also love the fact that you were honest about any slight imperfections you had while stitching 😊
I love the sounds when you are cutting. This quilt is beautiful, loved the original but the newer version is just stunning. The quilting brings it alive. I love the double Wedding Ring but I do not see this in my future current or farther down the road. I am intimidated by the curves, perhaps someday but I will not hold my breath. Thank you for all you do to inspire all quilters, new or seasoned.
Wow Donna, your teaching style is so easy to understand. You make everything so doable. Everything is explained so well and nothing is rushed through. Thank you for your time and effort. This actually makes me think I can make a double wedding ring, which I have always wanted to but stayed away from because of all the curves and it was never explained well enough for me lol. This will be the perfect gift for my daughter who is getting married soon. Thanks again for the great tutorial. Love all your tutorials and your fabrics are fabulous!!!😊👍😊
Donna, I'm 73 y/o and since I was a young girl, I have always loved the DWR quilt and wanted to make one. When I first started quilting I tried my hand at it and guess I did ok, but I threw it away thinking it wasn't perfect. Thank you for giving everyone the confidence to make a dream come true. I can't wait to order the templates. Maybe Santa can bring me a set. lol Happy Holidays and stay safe and healthy.
I'm two years late to the party! Donna, your instructions are fantastic. I've been reluctant to make a Double Wedding Ring, but you definitely make it look easy. I recently purchased the templates and today I've cut 576 wedge A pieces and sorted them. I still need to purchase the background and accents but am confident as long as I follow your tutorial all will work out. Thanks for all your great videos!
You really are a very good teacher. I started my DWR 15 years ago and got very discouraged. I believe I’ll pull it out of my project box and take another run at it. Your templates are MUCH nicer than what I had. Thanks for teaching us that it’s okay not to be “perfect” stitchers. Very real and very comfortable style.
I've always thought this was one of the most difficult patterns to make, but with these templates and your great tutorial I'm going to give it a try. Thank you - you guys are the best!!

I was excited when I saw that you were doing a Double Wedding Ring quilt, as I have one my grandma made for me and had dreams of making one of my own some day. However, it didn't take me long watching you working the curves to get that idea right out of my head. I have to say that YOU ARE FEARLESS!! This one goes into my FUTURE pile as my confidence level is far too low right now in comparison to yours. Congratulations on making another beautiful quilt. You're my quilting hero!
I must admit that I was quite fearful before starting! We had so many requests for this pattern, and I didn't think that I could show an easy way to stitch it, but I was wrong. I only stitched one practice curve to get the hang of it because the templates and slits make it so easy to stitch up!

Wish me lucky💥💕
If successful, all credit will go to Donna for this wonderful tutorial
😂🤣
IT IS SO NICE TO SEE THAT EVERYONE AT TIMES IS ONLY ALMOST PERFECT, I LOVE WATCHING YOU MAKE QUILTS
I am currently making this. I have struggled but will finish it for my step son and his wife. Thank you Donna for your wonderful videos and instructions.
Wow Donna. That is one fantastic quilt.. your tutorials are the best, the easiest to follow and the most inspiring. Thank you so much.
Hello, dear. You are a master of what you are doing! Thank you for teaching me with your pleasant voice.
PS: just one of these beautiful blocks would make a great pillow!
Too bad that due to cover shut down the Jordan Fabric store is no longer open for retail business. They are an online only store.
@@fog137 yes, I know. Too bad.
This is my dream quilt, I have wanted one of these for years, now I can make myself one. Thank you for all you I inspirational videos ❤
Thank you for this video, it was a very timely video. I just inherited a half finished double wedding ring quilt made with these template sets from a lady in our quilt guild who passed from cancer. I will be able to finish it with your help. ❤
That was a sweet and bitter story...thanks for sharing the story with us.
Hi from south Africa 🇿🇦.. if only you could buy the quilt back from the other person...sad to hear your story
Watching your tutorials on this and Drunkard's Path gives me the confidence to do curves without fear
Your tutorials are so clear and easy to understand. Big kudos to your sound, lighting and camera work - it's a pleasure to learn with you.
Hello how are you doing?
Hello
Curves always scare me, but you’ve shown just how they can be stitched. Thank you for sharing your tips with us
Just beautiful. I would never have dared to tackle this but you’ve made it look doable. Thank you for all your fantastic tutorials, emails and free patterns ❤️
You're a genius at the machine, and teaching; and Mike is a genius at the camera. Thank you both. Amazing.
Your a wonderful teacher you make,me want to do these quilts I have always wanted to make a double wedding ring thakyou so very much for such excellent skill at teaching 😀
You are the BEST teacher!! Your patience, and explanations make everything seem so simple!! Thank you SO much!!
I love the templates. The slits make it so easy to sew especially, if you're not use to sewing curves. I love Donna's tutorials-they are so easy to follow.
Hello how are you doing?
I made a queen sized double wedding ring quilt after watching your video, using the Cutrite template rulers. It has 36 blocks and is made with Tilda fabrics. It is GORGEOUS!
Donna you are a master teacher! You have inspired me to start cutting up scraps as I go to make my very own double wedding ring quilt. Something I never thought I could do. Thank you, thank you for your incredibly generous and expert content! Love, Love, Love your channel!
I want to make one of these for my oldest grandchild who is getting married in June. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I have ordered the templates, and I just ordered a rotating cutting board!
Exactly. Easing in is something as a seamstress first makes this much easier for curves.
Sharon Rimsza I agree. Making collars and armholes and princess seams and other shaped curves is really a good skill. It’s like sculpting with cloth.
As a seamstress I pin the bejesus out of curves. I understand quilters desire to get-er-done but the frustration a lot of quilters have with points not matching would go away with a few strategicly place pins.
You just look like you're having fun. All the time. Ahh... The life of a quilter!
You honestly made that look so easy! Still terrified of curves, not gonna lie. I also love the fact that you were honest about any slight imperfections you had while stitching 😊
I was also dreading the curves, but after trying one I found that it was MUCH easier than I thought!
@@jordanfabrics8380 well you've inspired me to give it a go - I'll keep you posted on progress, ha!
I have always wanted to do a double wedding quilt but have been intimidated by it. You made that look so easy. Thank you
Hello how are you doing?
I Love Donnas video/tutorials. She explains and with details and helpful hints so well. She is now my favourite of all!!!
Hello how are you doing???
Wow Donna, your teaching style is so easy to understand. You make everything so doable. Everything is explained so well and nothing is rushed through. Thank you for your time and effort. This actually makes me think I can make a double wedding ring, which I have always wanted to but stayed away from because of all the curves and it was never explained well enough for me lol. This will be the perfect gift for my daughter who is getting married soon. Thanks again for the great tutorial. Love all your tutorials and your fabrics are fabulous!!!😊👍😊
i love all your quilts n table runners i can set all day and watch
Donna you have excelled with this tutorial, it's by far the best Double Wedding Ring instructional video on TH-cam. Well done you!
Hello how are you doing?
You have the best tutorials, very easy to follow for a novice.
This is one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen, you make every pattern possible even for the beginner.Thank You
I've always thought this was one of the most difficult patterns to make, but with these templates and your great tutorial I'm going to give it a try. Thank you - you guys are the best!!
Really enjoy the videos you , and sometimes your husband , make and post online. Thank you so much for all your interesting ideas. Time savers !!
Donna, you are definitely my favorite go-to on learning how to make quilts. You always make it look so easy. I've never sewed before and just started in June of this year. Since then I've made over 20 so far and thanks to you I've found my love in making quilts. After watching this video I know I'll be able to do this quilt now.
Hello how are you doing???
My Mom's favorite pattern. She made each of her 6 children queen-size quilts for Christmas one year. She was a sewing quilting machine.
Donna, hats off to you. 💖 You make it as easy as sewing a 4 patch. Thas for another great video. 👏👏❤👏👏❤👏👏
after having the fabric at home for more than a year, i finally started on this huge project for a Queen size quilt. each das a piece. so Long so good!
Love this quilt! Have to admit when you were doing the curves, I had to hold my breath for a second, but when you were done, I blew a breath of relief 😅 love the way you talked it through. I felt like I was sewing with u. Another doable project. Thx Donna 😍
So much information ,brilliantly displayed, the directions for easy to understand. Beautiful quilt. Thank you so much, for the how to . I've often wanted to do a double wedding ring, but couldn't figure out how to do it. You make it look easy. Fantastic job. Excellent!🥰
Donna, your tutorials are so easy to follow and I love your helpful hints. The tutorials are the most informative out there. Thank you.
Thank you, Donna! Appreciate your calm, precise ‘how-to’ explanations!
Am new to quilting and just loved this lesson. Thank you. Joy 🇬🇧
Donna - you are the best teacher ever! I bought the template and watched your instructions, tried my hand at a block and it came out flat (not perfect, but good!). Now I have the confidence to make my daughter and her fiance a double wedding ring quilt...and I couldn't be more grateful to you for making it possible! :))))
Thank you, Donna and videophotographer. You are an amazing team. A double wedding ring quilt that I saw in a book about American Patchwork Quilting is what inspired me to try to become a quilter. I have completed a log cabin quilt, so I am not quite there yet.... I really appreciate these videos. I am thankful for you and your team who are willing to share your talents. I really am thankful for the people who help me with my orders from your store. All of you are just wonderful. Many blessings to you and yours for a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season!
Donna , you are amazing at explaining all of this.. Thank you so much!!!!!!
Donna, you go the extra mile when you teach so we can understand what to do! This is a Great video. Thank you so much! There should be an Academy award for this one!
@@anthonjonsson2651 it was a sad day remembering my son died of cancer two years and 20 hours ago.
Hi Donna i have always avoided watching this quilt tutorial, but today i sat myself down and watched. I appreciate it when something is ever so slightly ‘out’ that you don’t fuss about it. I always avoid the quilt police. Your idea about using scrap pieces is great. Thank you so much for you time, explanations and tips and tricks it’s greatly appreciated. 🌻
My mum gave me a wedding ring quilt years ago - I appreciate you showing how it is made thank you so much - it is beautiful. 🤗
Dear Donna! I love your tutorials. Thank you for your Explanations. My motherlanguage is german. But I can follow your tutorials very, very easy. Thank you so much. Please stay well. Kind regards Magdalena
Thank you Donna! I have been wanting to do this quilt; however, never felt I had the confidence or the courage! Thank you for taking the time to walk through it especially with this cool template! I am always learning new things with you! God Bless you and your family!
Hello how are you doing???
I just love your videos and your teaching skill I watch you every morning for at least 2 hours having coffee thank you so much

I have always loved the Double Wedding Ring Quilt. Thank you for making it not seem scary to sew!
Hello how are you doing?
This quilt is gorgeous Donna and your teaching makes it so doable with your detailed instructions and the camera guy doing the closeups just at the right time is amazing. I’m still a beginner to
intermediate quilter and you give me hope on trying curves. Happy quilting everyone

Hello how are you doing???
I can’t wait to use my French General fabric. Thank you. I was “waiting “ for a special project.
I really enjoy your videos. Especially the closeups as you sew. I could also watch your long arm quilt an entire quilt. 😊
Absolutely stunning! Wow! You really had your work cut out for you but nailed it beautifully. I love that it’s not perfect it makes it more special and shows homemade. Much love and prayers from Delaware ❤️🙏
I agree you are a great teacher and you inspire me all the time not enough time. Love the wedding ring ruler set wow
I have just discovered your channel and I'm hooked. I have been scared of quilting (but have sewn quite a bit). I can totally do this with the tools and instruction. You are a magnificent instructor - and your camera work and lighting is perfect. I appreciate this so much!! I have subscribed! I will be attempting this soon!
I’ve always loved the double wedding ring quilt pattern for years but was never confident to make one b/c of all of the curves. This template makes it look doable…and the jewel tone batiks are gorgeous.
Thank you for the great tutorials! And thank you to Matt for all the precision hand cut, it makes a world of difference. :) This quilt will be on my to do list for sure. Thanks!
Fantastic tutorial Donna. The level of detail (& video closeups) you cover with your tips and tricks is very much appreciated ! ~Diana K.
@@jordanfabrics8380 So we all learned something from this one, eh? Well, you're still my "hero"...
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE how you are a real world quilter!!!
You brought me back wonderful memories of my late mother making her double wedding ring quilt that I have! Thank you for that!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That makes this quilt pattern seem more doable. Wouldn't it be fantastic to make an Olympic Quilt using these rings, too!
