    Thanks for taking the time to go through this step by step. I’m experiencing the exact same issue; got halfway through disassembling before I thought to check the internet to see if it had already been done. Seems like I’m on the right track.

    I am having the same problem with my shark vacuum. I followed your directions took the motor out. Nothing seemed to be wrong. Replaced it and bam. It’s working again. Not sure what the problem was but it’s working now. Thank you.

    Dude, you rock! Oddly enough, my shark had the same problem and being a female, I don't dig too much into electrical things and this nearly ended up being toss to the trash but, run across your video and though, worst that can happen is - the trash pile if it didn't work but -- BAM! followed your video and my shark is working again... THANKS A BUNCH!

    As a young adult, I always purchased the “cheap” Walmart vacuums. I figured that was good enough. Until one day when I decided I wanted a quality vacuum and I ordered this product🌼 I was immediately impressed with the difference. My floors felt so much cleaner. This vacuum is not as wide as others I’ve owned, so that was an adjustment, but the quality is perfect. I love the way it turns. I love the way it stretches to get cobwebs way up in the ceiling. It’s perfect. I’m actually on my second one, only because my toddler poured her water down into the motor when I was cleaning the filter out Overall, would buy again.

    My Shark upright bagless is making a loud roaring sound when the power button is on 2, which is the rug position. The motor is quiet on the bare floor position and in the upright position on both levels. This just started recently.

It sounds normal for a moment once turned on and then it does a high noise and you can clearly tell it sounds clogged. I have taken every hose off and cleared the brushes. I do not know what to do. Every time I vacuum it’s leaving a foul smell. I’ve cleaned the 2 filters and the one in the front. One if the filters has a small tear in it and it’s yellow in color. I feel like I just need a new filter. Where can I order one. I also don’t know if I’m cleaning the front filter properly. Can you show me how. It’s the one in the very front of the unit. It doesn’t allow me to disassemble it which I thought was odd. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

    You do know that if you call sharks support line they will just mail you a new part no questions asked. Your unit is still under the 5 year warranty. It doesn't hurt to call them they will go out of their way to replace anything that goes bad.

    Need more info on how to fix the vacuum, please go into more detail because the small info wasn't enough to get a complete idea on how to fix it. Please show the inside of the motor when you disassembled it because it can help give a better picture on how it should look and how the engine shouldn't look. Overall you have great potential in using superb words to help viewers understand each part of each step in disassembling the vacuum.

    Hi Robert. Thanks for the video. I was trying to figure out what could be wrong with my Shark Navigator. I opened the lower pedal part ( where the brush is) to see whether there is an issue with the switch which transfers from I to II when you lean the vacuum backwards. For some reason, that part would not work. I couldn't see any visible issue with the wires and the rotor. Although, I couldn't help to notice when you remove the upper part, on the top of the pedal are the two pins which are providing power to the pedal. On the upper part( where the actual vacuum motor is) I tried using a screwdriver with test light to see whether it's actually receiving any electricity( there are two holes next to the main vent, in which the two pins from the pedal go in order for the pedal to actually have power). The main issue would be that the pedal's light which should be either green or red does not turn on at all. I was thinking of sending it to the service, but then again, they might tell me that it would require a new pedal, which would be most probably the same as buying a new vacuum cleaner, so any advise on this would be extremely helpful. Thank you. :) PS. Maybe the main power switch has an issue, as I am unable to hear that specific spring like sound when you switch it from I to II.

    The carbon brushes are common for sticking in there holders, or just worn out.

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +zx8401ztv Not sure why the unit looks new and the motor looks well worn.

    • @zx8401ztv
      @zx8401ztv 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Robert DIY
      If you judging the motor on the state of the commutator then thats false, they dont normally look that bad unless the connection to the carbon brushes is bad and they arc more than they should, that leaves the commutators burnt and dirty so the brushes are riding on crap.
      Take some fine grade sand paper and hold it up against the commutator and spin the armature by hand untill the copper commutators are clean and smooth.
      Check to see it the brushes are moving in and out easy without sticking.
      Storing a motor in a shed/damp place will do this to the brushes.

      Yes. But I don't have a vacuum to make any more videos.

    • @meganlandrum4130
      @meganlandrum4130 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DimplesDon9 I had the exact same problem with mine. the motor was fine but the switch was bad. it made a spring sound when flipped off. So I took it apart. Now only do this if you don't have any warrenties on the vacuum. Remove all connected parts and filters, makes it easier. Then remove all the screws. You just have to be sure to take the screw out from behind the sticker that tells you to clean your filters. It's pretty straight forward from there. Check it for corrosion or (in my case) metal strips broken, if so replace with a new one.

    • @DimplesDon9

    • @RobertDIY

      if all of the dirt is cleared out of the inlet and filter path, the motor is probably worn out.

  • @mosichat
    @mosichat 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have the exact same shark vacuum that you have shown above. Mine is doing the exact same thing. Reading some of the comments below state that there is a foam filter present. Is that the reason the motor burned out or stopped? I tried calling them tonight but they are closed. Will try them tomorrow. It seems that there are many people who are having the same issue with shark vacuum cleaners. Is this the downfall of owning this type of vacuum cleaner?

    Looking like the rollers had some poly bound up in the roller bearings, possibly contributing to issues. Based on when you said the motor turned freely once taken out, I have to assume this was the biggest part of the problem... Is that correct?

I latched the top 2 prongs and then tried to snap the bottom but the bottom wouldnt go in far enough enabling me to 'latch' it. My son tried to hook it in and he couldn't. What could be the p roblem? I'm at a loss of what to do. Trying to take care of my hubby who is bedbound so it's all up to me to do this stuff now.

    We just bought a Shark vacume over here in the UK, they are not well known over here but they had great reviews so we got one. It's been great. Nice channel bud, i'll give you a sub. Similar to my channel here in the UK, check it out if you got 5 mins.
    Cheers
    Martin

    So far so good with this vacuum. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.

      @@RobertDIY huh? What I'm saying is, You need to throw away this vacuum, if you still have it because the motor is shot! Shark won't replace it for you
