You just saved me the price of a new shark! I had no idea you can separate the base!! From the brush head to the canister was jammed with carpet fibers, cat hair and what ever else was stuck in there THANK YOU!!
Shark should pay you for this you just saved my day. My shark nav stopped suctioning. I followed all the steps now is suctioning like a brand new vacuum. Thanks a lot
Thank you for making this video, you solved all my vac problems. I have a newer Shark and basically after watching your video, I cleaned all the filters (one I didn't even know was there until you showed it). Cleaning all the filters took care of the suction for the hose which had quit picking up almost everything, was barely any suction at all. So, thank you very much!!🙂
I noticed a strange sound coming from my Shark. After watching your video, I looked at my hoses, and the top “handle” hose was super plugged. We took a wire brush and a wet vac and after 15 minutes we removed a very packed lint/hair blob about 4 inches long. The suction is much improved and the noise I heard is gone. Thanks for your video.
Thank God I found you! I had 2 shark vacuums I gave away for no suction! Got a new one& it quit sucking fast! Watched your video& found the clog! Cat hair! Thanks so much!!!!
So for anyone still struggling basically make sure check the black hose. Mine was so clogged with hair and dog hair. My issue was with the black hose. The clogg was deep in the hose and handle area. You can't remove the handle from the hose so I bought a larger bottle brush and pushed the clogg through. Make sure you don't lose the grip of the handle to the bottle brush because it is hard to pull it back out if you go too far in. I did several runs and attached everything back in. I turned my vaccum on and the clogg shot through and I had a large furry mess in the bin. My vaccum works great now. Try a bottle brush :)
Omg, I can't thank you enough. I don't have the exact Shark Navigator as you demoed, so it didn't come apart nearly as much as your model. Anyway, I followed all of your advice, but since mine didn't come apart, I used just the top part of a Dyson stick vacuum to try and clear any clogs. Originally sucked out a huge ball of dirt and dog hair, but the vacuum still didn't work. Your video encouraged me to keep checking for clogs, and using the Dyson, I actually sucked out a paper towel. I was angry at first that some idiot sucked up a paper towel in my less than a year old vacuum, but it's working like new now. Thank you so much. As a side note, people don't loan anyone your vacuum.
THANK YOU. I just unclogged my Shark Rotator after watching this. There had been no suction - none! I went through all your steps, finding two substantial blockages. This vacuum is working again, as if it just came off the shelf. I live in the country (dirt, dust and mud) and have 2 long haired dogs who shed and 2 cats who shed. I will add a complete inspection of the vacuum to my preventative maintenance calendar every three months and keep after the brush roller much more frequently. Thank you again, for both knowledge and empowerment.
Awesome! I am so happy I could help you out! If you take care of your machine, your machine will take care of you. And you can’t go wrong with shark vacuums
Thank you! This was incredibly helpful. My Shark lost suction - I had cleaned the filters, didn't realize there was a clog. Found it thanks to your video. Now my machine is clean and works like new!
OMG! This helped me so much!! Thank you! The wand was sooooo clogged. I had no idea now find a clog or how to unclog it, nor did I realize that I could, let alone should be cleaning my filters. Thanks again!
Thank you a million. This solved my problem. I was ready to throw it in the trash and never buy another shark. It’s working as if it were the first day I bought it.
Thank you so much for the tip about the front rollers. I didn't realize the cover was removable (not to mention that the roller is). The motor on my Shark just stopped out of nowhere so I was looking for a miracle fix on TH-cam, and there it was!
Thanks for sharing my husband came to me to say it’s broken, I said let me see. After watching your video it’s up and running 👏🏽👏🏽 I fixed the issue👏🏽👏🏽
Awesome!!! I’m so happy I could get your machine running again. If you have any other vacuum trouble you can take a look around my channel. It’s 100% vacuum related
*Works great and is lightweight **MyBest.Tools** Comes apart for cleaning/fits back together easily. It replaced my carpet shampooer. Great on hardwood as well.*
Dillon, I am impressed. Your explanation, in your video, was so simple and so clear that it made it easy for me to check -and clean- my vacuum cleaner. Thank you so much for taking your time to help out - Esperanza 🥰
Thank you Mine is 4 yrs old never realized the filter in the front. Took it out mine was black. Use an air compressor to blow out carbons and looks really clean. Runs great now. You showed me things I didn't know. Thank you❤😊
Thank you so much. I washed the filters you said and didn’t touch the hepa filter. After watching your video I went back to the vacuum and cleaned that inner column now it’s working like new!
VERYYY helpful!!! I thought my $300 vacuum was a goner...but after watching your video...i missed a compartment and sure enough it was clogged solid. thank you for posting!
Thank you for this!! After watching your video, I found a clog in the flexible hose coming from the head. The wife was already shopping for a new one. I appreciate you!
I appreciate this so much I was about to cry my shark vacuum wasn’t sucking at all! I watched your video took it apart and found a plastic plug cover wedged. In the hose you saved my sanity. Thank you! Thank you!
This video saved the day! I was about to buy a new vacuum because I did everything I could think of to try and fix it. Turns out there was a huge clog in the hose. Thank you!!!!! You saved me a lot of frustration and a couple hundred dollars 🙌
Thank you for your video. It was most helpful. My Shark was a little different but following your instructions was able to figure out the problem…a big clog in brush roller. I will be a more diligent vacuumer from now on.😊
Thank you so much! Thanks to you I was able to locate and clear a huge clog near the top of the handle. I could not figure out how to get the handle off to remove the clog. Also thanks for explaining about the hepa filter.
Wow this is life changing, I’ve had my navigator for 4 years and never rinsed those… they have been rinsed and the water was black. Thanks for this video!!
So glad this got you to clean those filters. Make sure to do it as needed. I’m sure your navigator works so much better now and I hope you gets lots more life out of your navigator!
Wow. Thanks for this. I didn't know there was an "after" filter. Took it out in my shop and blew it out with compressed air. Couldn't believe all the dust that came out if it. Vacuum works like a charm now. I guess I'll have to do that again before another 8 years go by.
O no.. I've done washed those parts a few times within 5 years and today I did due to lost of suction and you are correct I see a little rust here and there on metal but not really bad yet though..hopefully I didn't do major damage smh.. Glad you've created this content sir.. Thank you 🙏
This was a great video. I cannot stand it when people post videos for troubleshooting and they act like we know what they are talking about. Thank you for explaining this to someone like me that has no idea how to troubleshoot anything.
Thanks for sharing! I love my vacuum cleaner. It recently stopped functioning properly. I had no idea I needed to maintain the vacuum. Needless to say it was filthy. Cleaned it and it’s running smoothly. Thanks!
Thank you so so much! I was gonna take it in to get fixed but after watching along with you and going step by step..I found a big clog near the bottom hose. Yay
I noticed a strange sound and would automatically turn off because of overheating. I saw your video and started poking around on the machine and finally found at the very top of the machine where the handle is, there's a curved area of plastic connecting the hose to the extension bar that disconnects. Best thing I can recommend is making sure there’s no residue in that area. If it’s any sort of sticky then the hair can get stuck and build up. And try not to pick up anything that can get stuck in there. Otherwise, just keeping it clear and working is the best thing I can recommend

This was extremely helpful.... cleaned my vacuum and found a couple clogs. The worst clog was found in the hose, and it is stuck big time... it may even be a ball, but can't tell for sure. Awesome! So happy I could help 😊
This was extremely helpful.
FANTASTIC! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!
I noticed a strange sound and would automatically turn off because of overheating. I saw your video and started poking around on the machine and finally found at the very top of the machine where the handle is, there's a curved area of plastic connecting the hose to the extension bar that disconnects. Thank you so much your video help alot...I cleaned everything and never noticed the shroud clogged and soon as I cleaned it, it got quieter and have its suction power back.
Thanks for fixing my vacuuum!!!
I have taken apart my 4 year old Shark Rotator vacuum and cleared anything I have found, removed the brush head and cleaned it and will was the circular filter. But the one clog that keeps coming back is the hole where the bottom of the canister attaches to, which goes down into the brush head area. Behind the brush head is a hole and I keep getting clogs there, which is effecting the suction of the vacuum. Any thought son how to keep that clean? Best thing I can recommend is making sure there’s no residue in that area. If it’s any sort of sticky then the hair can get stuck and build up. And try not to pick up anything that can get stuck in there. Otherwise, just keeping it clear and working is the best thing I can recommend
Thank you!! This is so helpful!
Thanks a lot it was the trick. My shark works great now.
Very informative. Thank you!
Thanks! Extremely helpful. I had no idea all those pieces came apart like that.
I’m so happy I could help!
Thank you! This was so incredibly helpful and easy to understand. I'm back on track, thanks to you. I thought I was going to have to unscrew and take this all apart and was so thankful to learn it was not necessary. This is exactly what I needed.
So happy I could help you out!
Wow....this was very helpful to me. I've had the Shark Navigator (bought at Costco) last summer. Love it. I am wondering now if there is some place the attachments can hook up to the vacuum cleaner?
Do you mean store on the vacuum? There should be a clip at the top of the handle or down by the bottom of the vacuum depending on what machine you have. If you are taking about using the tools, all the tools fit on the handle or end of the wand to use
This was extremely helpful.... cleaned my vacuum and found a couple clogs. The worst clog was found in the hose, and it is stuck big time... it may even be a ball, but can't tell for sure. Any suggestions on how to remove the clog from the hose? I have already tried driving a curtain rod through, however I think the bend in the handle gets in the way.
I can recommend dropping a heavy object the light it like a battery. It may take a few goes at it and you may have to bounce the hose to get it to go through. But I’ve seen a. Lot of success with that. If dropping something heavy finest help, next Bess thing is a wire hanger. I bed it and make a little 90°bend at the end maybe 1/2 and inch long. Use that to pull out whatever is in there. You just have to be very careful with this method because wire hangers are sharp, and a slit, hole, Or split in the hose can cause a major loss of suction. If none of these work, you could always replace the hose. It’s maybe a $20 part depending on what model you have. And $20 is well worth it in my opinion to fix a perfectly good vacuum. I’ve seen many people do that. But give these a go and let me know how it goes!
I just posted elsewhere, but I used a flat, plastic sink drain tool. It's strong enough to get through clogs, like wet hair in the sink. It's got teeth on the sides to grab, as you pull the tool back out. Plus, they are long enough (usually 2 feet).
Thank you for your video, this fixed my issue! 🙏
Mine lost suction because the cone was really clogged. It couldn't breathe, basically. I had sucked up remnants of ash from the fireplace. The ash (way too fine) completely clogged the cone and turned the new filters brown. This video helped me make sure I didn't miss anything.
Thanks Dillon! U rock!!
Great explanation - thank you!
I have a purple shark just like the one in your video and theres a small rectangular port on the side of vacuum below the canister that sometimes makes a loud sucking noise until i plug it or cover it. What is it for?
Fixed my issue in a few minutes, thanks!
Thank you. Because of your video, I fixed the vacuum cleaner. otherwise, I was gonna buy a new one!!!
Awesome! I’m so glad I could help!
@@DillonCleans you save me min $200. thank you

Very happy you learned something! That’s my main goal with these videos. To teach and educate. The black on the filter is just carbon. It won’t affect performance too much. Good video, it really helped fixing the suction issue!!
