- Oooh it has been a while, however I'm back out on the beach with my metal detector and searching for long-forgotten treasures! It feels good to be back. 😊
Thank you to my lovely community for all the messages and comments while I took a break from creating videos, I am now beyond the point of being able to answer everyone personally but I do read everything that I see! I'm not quite back to uploading regularly, however we should be settled into our new home in the coming weeks. 🏠

I have a rookie mistake that I'm embarrassed about.
I got all geared up with my new equipment, arrived at the site to explore.
As I was detecting, I kept getting pings often.
I dug many holes and found nothing, until I stood up and my detector touched my shoe and went off loudly.
I then realized, I put on my steel toed shoes!
What an idiot I am!
Note to self, "If the shoes I put on are unusually heavy, they are STEEL TOE!"

Did something similar when I realized my wedding ring kept setting off the detector. We all live and learn, mate. :)

wow Mish, You can start a line of high fashion scuba diving jewelry! Lead necklaces, bracelets, rings...all in stead of those bulky weight belts! : ) Great to see you out again. I drove back down to the coast last week thinking I would go detecting on the party beach a while...then a friend sent me a picture of a tree on her house and I have spent the week removing the tree and four other dead ones that were close to her house. I got chigger bites, poison ivy, hornet stings and I even got struck by a copperhead snake. the snake did not get any fangs into me because I wear thick protective chainsaw pants and steel toe boots. Maybe today, if I do not have anything else come up, I can go detecting. Thanks for the video, George.

Hello Mish, Of course the first target had to be a sinker, It proved this is authentic Mish detecting! and it was great to see you playing in the sand again, and it was a good hunt to boot! The tapered plate with the hole at the end may have been a feeler gauge for setting points or sparkplug gaps! Very happy to see you back, but will be much happier when you return on a regular basis. I would have been here earlier but was sadly distracted by the passing of Queen Elizabeth, RIP, Thanks for bringing a bit of brightness to the day! Cheers Mish!
The mystery item with the hole turned out to be a component of a fishing reel, which makes a whole lot of sense to me!!
It felt SO good to be back out there with some sun on my skin, even if the poor old legs regretted the soft sand trudging for a few days afterwards. 😂
Yes the news of the Queen was a shock, expected but unexpected if you know what I mean. It’s incredible as to just how many changes need to occur as a result of the change of monarch as well. End of an era.

@@DirtFishMish Well that shows what I know, didn't even think of a fishing reel, heard you say it had the number 40 was on it, thought boat motors, put 2+2 together and got 5.
You would think with all that lugging boxes around your legs would be prepared for the beach, not so much! Huh!...
When I was at school, primary and high, The Monday morning ritual was singing god save the Queen, I doubt thats been done for a long time now! Along with my mom who was 3 yrs older, I thought she was beautiful, and along with my parents she has become a memory of what was, and is no more. The new King has a lot to live up to, and less time to do it. Indeed the End of an era.

Hi Mish it’s been a while so happy your still metal detecting missed your videos glad to see your doing well its always good to have some fun it’s a sinker lol nice beach big silver coin nice and the six pence keep hunting your bound to find a real treasure . I’ll need to get back out to the goldfields for that nugget, but the silver coins are definitely what I’m looking for - I appreciate those more than most jewellery and even gold. Cheers mate 😊

Wow Mish you were "Gone " for so long I thought the Algorithms had dropped your show, but found you in my subscriptions . What a great day, I could not believe how many nice finds you had, like the universe was saving hem up for you because you were busy moving. I know about the with drawl pains when you can't get out to detect, in August I caught the co bug and was shut in for 3 weeks then ,did maybe 30 min of detecting and then hurt my leg , ripped the calve muscle bad , shut in again, in a cast can't walk now for 2 weeks. so glad to see you out and about congrats on the finds you lucky girl you. Oooh ouch, I didn’t injure myself badly however the legs definitely didn’t want to work so well for a few days after this - the soft sand really gave them a workout! Speedy healing to you. 😊

Just subbed. I'm located in Memphis,TN and LOVE to metal detect. My channel isn't near as large as yours but we have fun. Going tomorrow just down the road. Love Australia too. Went in 2007 and fell in love with the place and those meat pies!! And something called....snot block.. lol. Not a vegemite fan though. lol Don't get many opportunities to hunt near large bodies of water unless I use the local river but it's not easy to get to really. The area you're hunting reminds me of the rocks at or near Apollo Bay. My friends in Melbourne took me down there and I remember the Otway National Park too. Those 1/2 pennies are HUGE!!

it been a sad day, but mish you can't along at the right time to cheer me up with a big smile on my face now thank you for sharing your time out on the beach I just recently come from holidays from central coast, and I had a go metal detecting there is a lot and a lot of sinkers, but I enjoyed it thoroughly thank you Mish for all your tips and knowledge 🤠

I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens, especially if near a military area (I’ve had a few folks mention they’ve found them over there in old camps/training bases). 😁

Some days just find 20¢ and trash, so I just got lucky on this one, I didn’t realise the sand had moved so much! Cheers mate.
Hey mish, soak those silver's in lemon juice for a day or so, then either rub them with bi carb between your fingers or chuck them in a tumbler for a few hrs after the lemon soak. Will come up like new 👌

Hi Mish at the start of your video that little tool looking bit of metal with the hole in it one end and slightly angled other end is part of the cast locking mechanism off an old side cast fishing reel.
I liked hearing your commentary and beach hunting thoughts as to why you were paying attention to an area as opposed to the Deus tones. But, I'm more interested in learning beach hunting vs tones :)

Howdy Mish, Loved the shot of the breakers rolling in through the rocks and that very pretty seashell. I was out detecting a new park last week. It wasn't very productive. The coins were few and far between and the pull tabs numerous. I did find a big old sinker though and immediately thought of you. It's good to have you back. Congrats on the silvers. Those turban shells are actually super common here, it was only when my TH-cam friend Nora Svet found one and was fascinated with it that I realised they weren’t as common elsewhere!

It has felt like forever, Tana!! This week is the big week - by next weekend, we’ll be fully in the new place. Lots of preparation needed when moving a teen and a handful of animals as well. I can’t wait to be in there. 😊

I think that ütility tool is either a feeler guage or cut throat razor, I could be wrong but the rounded ends make me think that, thanks for the video Mish, I hope the move is a good one.

The brass blade like tool might be a thickness gauge used to gap the valves on an engine. Perhaps the tool handle had a full set of thickness gap feelers.

I would think that piece of metal with the number 40 on it and hole at one end could be the crank arm for a reel from a fishing rod.
