True friends of mine don't just "show up" . I know it varies for everyone but for my friends we all have an understanding that just appearing at one of our homes is off the table. We all love to see each other. We all love our alone time too, and we respect each other to not invade on one another's personal time. If one of us wanted to see the other, we would text and make it happen. Boggles my mind that there are people who are the complete opposite out there. To each their own!
But then there is major off- the- charts stress for 15 days! Super clean or lived in clean? Food- which food should I have around? Oh crap. I can't even cook. Now what?
I like hanging out with friends but randomly turning up to my place with no notice is just rude. I could be in my PJs or taking a nap. Making myself not look like a human dumpster fire takes time, this is why we make plans in advance and you text me when you’re on your way! That’s just modern fucking decency

Yeah totally me 😂 I missed like 10 miss call and text them back in 2 day if I check my chat 😂 I don't mean to do that but everytime I pick up or answer the chat they always ask me to go out it isn't I don't appreciate them but I really don't feel comfortable to go out . I will go if I want to but not with force.
The trick is to silence it and let them get to the voice-mail so you can later say that you were in the shower, cooking, etc and missed the call. If it was important they would've left a voice-mail or texted u, right? Right.
As an introvert, I appreciate that she used an empty phone case so that she wouldn't accidentally accept a real phone call during filming and risk a real conversation =D
It seems like you are confusing introvert with social anxiety. Introverts “prefer” to be alone, but they don’t necessarily feel anxious when socializing, they just get tired.. Feeling anxious, avoiding phone calls, and needing 15 days to process someone coming over is anxiety..

I'm like your bestie lol. I drag my friends to parties, first they hesitate but eventually has a blast. They still don't want to hangout but I force them to. And in most cases they have ton of fun!!

I used to tell people who insisted on *stopping by unannounced* that if I decided to admit that I was home I would let them in but that under no circumstances would I change what I was doing. So if I was about to take a shower or read a book or stare into the abyss, they were gonna have to wait in silence until I was ready to interact. 😁😂

It's really about whether being with with people drains you or not. Introverts need time alone to charge their batteries. Extroverts (apparently) get charged by being around people.

The degree of accuracy just creeped me out. I'm a very polite person in nature so hearing these things out is blowing my mind coz that is literally what goes on in my head.
I'm a very polite person but I've made it very clear to friends, family, even my own parents that if they show up at my front door without warning I will not answer. In emergency cases, call me AT LEAST several hours in advance so I can mentally prepare. A few days of lead time is preferable.

Yeah as someone who has had a friend pass away and hadn't picked up the last call of, I may not immediately get back but, I try to play it off like "Ohey I was busy/on the toilet" if I otherwise actually weren't either. At least a text is like well, if it is truly urgent, I will see that in the preview and act accordingly, so that helps me not feel like there's a coin flip
my bestie is the extrovert and doesn't get offended when I just want to sit and chill. he knows I get real anxious if he makes me socialize in groups of people.

As an introvert who does also have social anxiety, I think it's the spontaneity that's a major issue for introverts. Sometimes the social battery just isn't charged enough for certain people or certain situations.
Yep but still you can't just show up unannounced and be like "hey let's go out and do shit!" I might let my friend kick it with me. But i need at lest 2-3 business days of notice for me to go out. And it has to be good. All of my favorite things is here. My dog, my art supplies, my PC, my Playstation, My iced mocha, And more. What does outside have that is better then my home?

Whenever I receive a call I immediately assume someone is on their way over so while ignoring the call I’m turning out all lights and making it look as if I’m not home.
Ill give ya'll the best advice ive ever gotten. If theres someone at the door, just start putting on your coat and open it, if its someone you want to see, great tell them you just got home. If its someone you dont want to see, continue putting on your coat and boots and say you were on your way to leave the house for a premade excuse. i usually use "omw to a meeting with a friend.. shame talk later" and just circle the block or smth and go home after. or just say, "oh shoot toilet before i leave. well talk later baaaii" and just close the door.
I would say, "oh yeah? You have a car?" -yeah -good. Get in it, go home, and I'll be over in a lil bit. I'm gonna bring over that girl your bf cheated on you with. I'll call when I get there. And then you'll understand how unwelcome your bubbly, unannounced visit felt to me. Call first.

I answer because I know they know I don't do anything and am never busy so next time we meet they ask why I didn't answer and then it's awkward to come up with a lie on the spot. So I rather answer and cringe through a phone conversation.

Even riding a bus just to see each other takes like 7 or more hours and 2 of my friends live on campus. And then there's covid. We still talk and do video calls sometimes but it's okay. We're still close and we're planning to catch up soon 🤗

As a real introvert, you don't want to meet with a lot of shallow people with whom you have no real relation, you are able to interact with lots of people with which you have a professional relation, and you can discuss with people that you want to exchange ideas and experiences with, 1. but you generally don't mingle with people in order to mingle, 2. and you make decisions when you sit alone and analyze matters.

Im so happy to come across this and realized im not the only person with these issues!!! I didnt use to be but im 40 now and the older i get it seems to get worse and worse and i dont understand why. Its been a steady line getting worse and worse over the past 10 years now and whats the most frustrating is i do NOT want to be this way but at the same time i cant help it or stop it and its so frustrating!! i am a huge home body, if i do go places or have company i have to have it planned where i know its coming ahead of time, for at least a day. I dont go somewhere just on a wim nor want company unless we plan a day. But the worst part is i dont want to be this way. At all but i cant seem to help it and its really effected my relationships with people and i hate it. Sorry its just hard to explain.

The 5-15 days is so true. I break down anytime an event is sprung on me the day of, like, give me a warning at least 3 days in advance!!

I'm a very polite person but I've made it very clear to friends, family, even my own parents that if they show up at my front door without warning I will not answer.
In emergency cases, call me AT LEAST several hours in advance so I can mentally prepare. A few days of lead time is preferable.

Yeah as someone who has had a friend pass away and hadn't picked up the last call of, I may not immediately get back but, I try to play it off like "Ohey I was busy/on the toilet" if I otherwise actually weren't either. At least a text is like well, if it is truly urgent, I will see that in the preview and act accordingly, so that helps me not feel like there's a coin flip

As an introvert who does also have social anxiety, I think it's the spontaneity that's a major issue for introverts. Sometimes the social battery just isn't charged enough for certain people or certain situations.
I'm extremely introverted, and don't have social anxiety. It's not that I don't like socializing. It's just that I enjoy my alone time more.

Ill give ya'll the best advice ive ever gotten. If theres someone at the door, just start putting on your coat and open it, if its someone you want to see, great tell them you just got home.
If its someone you dont want to see, continue putting on your coat and boots and say you were on your way to leave the house for a premade excuse. i usually use "omw to a meeting with a friend.. shame talk later" and just circle the block or smth and go home after. or just say, "oh shoot toilet before i leave. well talk later baaaii" and just close the door.

Except you'd worry "Sorry i dont like to call" sounds a bit mean/weird or will just draw out more unwanted questions or judgement, so you just ignore the phone call and text them a bit after saying "sorry i was in the middle of something" and shift the conversation so that it happens in text instead🤭 usually works

Even riding a bus just to see each other takes like 7 or more hours and 2 of my friends live on campus. And then there's covid. We still talk and do video calls sometimes but it's okay. I have one (1) friend who understands that I will probably never speak to them and still love them fiercely and does not hold that against me. Being an introvert is really an entire different lifestyle than extroverts, it’s something that’s not easily comprehended
it's a modern bred psychological disease tho, In the past you'd have socialized naturally from your birth with a lot of people. As a recovering really bad case of introvertism, I'd say, the path to getting out of it, is going to a place where no one knows you, so that you can lie all you want about your insecurities, which will build your ego enough to be able to become a normal human being, not a constantly scared little rat of a human.

Im so happy to come across this and realized im not the only person with these issues!!! I didnt use to be but im 40 now and the older i get it seems to get worse and worse and i dont understand why. Its been a steady line getting worse and worse over the past 10 years now and whats the most frustrating is i do NOT want to be this way but at the same time i cant help it or stop it and its so frustrating!! i am a huge home body, if i do go places or have company i have to have it planned where i know its coming ahead of time, for at least a day. I dont go somewhere just on a wim nor want company unless we plan a day. But the worst part is i dont want to be this way. At all but i cant seem to help it and its really effected my relationships with people and i hate it. Sorry its just hard to explain.
