I’ve come to believe that the base model is the way to go. The more horsepower you add the more unusable on public roads it becomes and it’s just frustrating. This is one reason why the Miata is such a great car. You can actually use the power.
The 20's on the base have a much harsher ride than the stock 18's (which I had on my 2013 base) or the common 19's. Unusual to see 20's on a base 981. I now have a 981 CS with 20's and wish it had smaller wheels.
Nothing wrong with the base if that is as far as your budget stretches...BUT, the S provides the extra torque and power to deliver the sense of urgency that the base lacks. IMO, the Spyder is worth the money from a collectors point of view. You are unlikely to lose money on a Spyder and maybe values will increase, but you wouldn't want to daily a Spyder, not because of the roof and the heavy clutch, but because mileage will affect Spyder values much more than it will affect base/S/GTS values. For what it is and what it represents, I think the Spyder is actually good value for money. Think about 911 Speedster values by comparison. If you are wanting something special for Sunday morning blasts down your favourite canyon or country roads, it's going to deliver a special driving experience and retain its value. It's also going to be appreciated at your local cars and coffee and Porsche car meets, punching way above its price point. I would not get a Spyder just because of the top. Unless I had a garage in a climate that had lots of dry warm days, didn't want to drive it except occasionally, and could just leave the top down. That's not my situation. I like to go out on a day that is dry but has a chance of showers... and take my chances while being able to put the top up in a pinch while driving!
shocking you come to the conclusion that the car you are selling is worth the price. Hardcore journalism at its best.
A cynic would never understand, but 981 Boxster Spyders are probably undervalued.
Shocking that you've come to the conclusion that a car retailer TH-cam channel came to the conclusion that the car they are selling is worth the price. Hardcore commenting at its best.
I don't consider these guys journalists lol.
My only complaint of my 25th anniversary is the power, 500-550 would be great, maybe I’m spoiled with my Turbo S.
Base 911 vs GT3 next please. Your pick on generation
feel like all their complaints about the base were solved with the 718 but everyone complains bc it’s a flat 4 😂
You can get 21/22 in the UK for £80-90k. Think that’s a massive bargain personally, probably because you’d only ever be able to use it for 4 days a year
Exactly the issue with the Spyder in UK. Just get the GTS 981 Boxster. On normal roads as a daily driver the GTS is enough unless you’re trying to impress others.
great video gents
Another week, Filippo probably saved 5K by renting out his garage to a family of immigrants, Kennan paid 5k to maintain his 2002 M5. All is well in the kingdom of Cars and Bids.
Kennan: "I'm not ready to spend THAT amount of money on a car"
Spends 60.000$ on maintenance on his 200.000 mile crashed E39 M5.
(I do love his commitment to that car though;)
I have had 3 Wranglers. That top is simple.
That shirt is something...
they missed a few key differences, the roof is not that bad is just not as easy as pishing a button but i enjoyed the video.
If weekend car, Spyder.
If daily, GTS is “tops”😜
you can use all the boot with the hood down in the spyder, there is no difference in rear boot space at all!
the subaru crosstrack beats you guys all the way
Kennan the kind of guy to earn that Tommy Bahama button up money off of commission from live auctions via cars and bids.
