Samir, I just Acetone to remove the old glue. Nail polish remover would be the same. I pour some on the old glue, cover with a small piece of title paper to help it soaking. In about 2 minutes, while the acetone is still wet, I used a blade to scrape off old glue. It took me three time repeating this process to clean it up. All done in 10 minutes. Hope this answers your question.
Hot air gun to remove metal part from glass. Then soak it in acetone and later brush it with steel wool. Then best is to clean it with bohle's metal primer for uv gluing. Then 3-4 drops of UV adhesive glue + uv lamp for 2 minutes to cure
I know you replied to this video a month ago, but I have a question. My entire office is gold and white, the desk that I like is glass and white painted wood, but the metal is silver. I planned to paint the metal legs gold, but the part of the desk that swivels is a metal piece attached to the glass, could I essentially remove the metal piece with a hot gun like you stated, then paint it and brush it and replace it as normal? Will it hold well?
Crystal clear is uv resistant epoxy resin , it's available to by all over internet, use the one that they use in the making of river tables . Perfectly clear just like glass , I think gorilla makes an epoxy glue aswell just not sure how clear it is, super glue won't work, it will crack and turn yellow in no time . You can also use it to create a film over badly scratched glass tables, but it won't work if you skip the prep .
I had problem in my table at a point (connect point)where the top end of stand{ rod } and the metal which stick to the glass,, i want to order the metal which stick to the glass, what's its name and where i can buy?
Any ideas for a glass dining table that has 3 legs broken (not glued) ? Its hard to make it stand up. Any techniques ? should i put some quick glue on one leg just to make it stand and then later put better glue ?
However you want to do it, my friend, safety first. I'm sorry to hear that your table has three legs came off. I would not use those broken leg as prop to keep it stand up, that sounds dangerous. Instead I will find a box or container that is strong enough to keep the table up, while you do the repair. The hot pot is to find the perfect height. I will try to find a box that is slightly shorter and use books to shame to the perfect height, just a touch shirt so the table top could press against the legs to be glued. Again please be safe.
OK so how does the glue look on the table after it dried ? I am looking for a transparent solution glass to metal. SOmething tells me jb weld is not the answer to this.
hello what is the name or model of this table plz? my moms house is being remodel and someone went in and stoled her table now we need the property management to replace it she has had it for 15yrs. Thank You in advance
I realize this comment is a year old so hopefully you see this. Do you mind sharing which uv clear epoxy you used? I’m trying to attach a glass top to a metal base for my dining table. Can’t figure it out for the life of me.
Hi, so I used epoxy glue to glue the table leg back to the glass table. However after a few months, i realize i need adjust that same lag again but not its super stuck on the glass table, is there any way to remove the leg or its stuck to the glass permanently?
Of all the glues and adhesives on the market you choose grey jb weld, its not great for glass and more so it looks awful. You'd have been better off with a clear aquarium silicone or even crazy glue. Clear epoxy would have work well to, a bit of heat will remove any air bubbles. This isn't a process you should be recommending as I doubt it will last long and redoing it will be a real pain in the butt!
I have to remove it this glass itself attcged to my dining table how can i detatch the glass top from my dining table ? Am moving home so i need to remove it any idea ??? I cant find any screw or bolts to remove the glass
My glass table's legs are screwed to base where the moving plates are. In the video, where I put glue is the base, the legs screw to a section 8 inches to it. I removed the four legs when transporting it. Note the moving arms are stuck to the glass top, I did not manage to remove them.
I did not use a jack to hold, the table was standing okay with the 3-legs. Your repair may require one, mind you. If I need to hold the table, I will use a piece of wood (or books piled up on one of the dining chair).
If you have the same table in this video, then the legs can be detached by twisting it to unscrew it. Think if the leg is a huge screw :) remember the first join us between leg and the swing-arm, then the aluminum disc which glued to the glass. Good luck.
@@rkhoo7349 I don't think my comment made sense, so the legs are off, The discs just will not come off no matter how long they have candles under them, do I need more heat like a bigger candle possibly? Can I try to put acetone on the edges to loosen the glue? I am just having way more trouble than I thought haha
@@hannahroberts4261 I do know how to safely remove the silver-disc (aluminum mount) because it is glued to the glass. The factory glue is a UV-cured resin that I do not know if heat can soften the glue. From my experience in this repair video, my disc is already loose and I was able to use Acetone (nail polish remover) to remove the glue residue. I do not think you can use this solvent to unmount the disc from the glass. Sorry.
Is there a small hole on one of the metal clamps. If there is turn it counter clockwise. If not use a towel and a pair of channel locks so you dont mar the metal
Great Idea....I suppose to dispose my dinning table and coffee table...but now it has been repaired and more firm the legs.
I am glad this is helpful 🙂

R Khoo hey
How would you remove glass from wood instead of metal?

Can you please provide a link or full name of the glue your referring too. Thanks
Good if you don't mind the ugly gray epoxy showing through the top of the glass. I would have preferred Nano470 construction glass glue instead.
My dying table glass is broken. please tell me how will it recover.
Hot air gun to remove old glue from metal, and regular clear superglue from a tube instead of big blotches of dark grey glue as you have done.
Won't the heat crack the glass?
“Hot air gun to remove old glue from metal...”
Regular super glue isn’t strong enough to hold it
and now you have a huge grey spot on one leg... nice
@@kyleegerton4662 thanks, I have updated my description text to recommend UV cured epoxy.

What kind of glue or liquid to put the glass square leg. To make it new

@@jediknightdiscomike22 you should use UV curable glue instead because it dried transparent .JB weld works but looks ugly.
I i dont have this kind of metal is it optional where i can use shower .metal rod can that type of metal use
You ruined the clean look by using jb weld black glue
But for uv glue it is expensive to purchase uv light 🔦 .

My glass is tainted where the glue should be pasted hence UV light is not working, pls suggest an alternative
why the hell wouldnt you have used clear epoxy? now that one round circle on your table is grey while the other three are clear???????????????
Is this WD Weld clear when it dries. What glue do you recommdnd if you wish it to be clear since this is glass?
Nowadays, you should use UV cured clear resin glue. My method works but not good looking :)
Thank you for the video. But as long as you sanded the glass, why didn’t use clear epoxy also JB weld?
Agreed. Clear epoxy is the ideal to match the other three. I found it stupid he used a gray one.

If you are referring to the original clear glue used, I do not know. Sorry.
Usually sheer pressure can take it off but if the glass is fragile a heatgun/hairdryer should do it
