- Join me as I hike and solo camp in Surrey Hills, UK. My first time camping alone was eventful - you'll see why at the end of the vlog. Was it a fail? Depends how you look at it! On this solo hiking and camping adventure we'll be walking from Guildford to Horsley in beautiful English nature, following a Saturday Walking Club guide.

I actually really enjoyed your blog 🙌🏼 I go wild camping often. Least 5 times a year. No camp sites tho, literally out in the middle of no where. Main rule is LNT “leave no trace” I hope to see your next adventure:)
I plan on going wild camping on my own in the Lake District soon. I have no experience camping, so it should be bloody fun! Maybe some swimming, sunrises and sunsets along the way :)

You’re so brave to embark on such a great first solo adventure. Even though you didn’t get to complete the experience your mindset is very inspiring and this is something I am working towards as nature and adventure seems to be the only remedy for my mental health these days. Next time take the train to Dartmoor, you can legally wild camp. I'd advise taking a friend as it can be a bit scary the first time on your own but the wide open 'prairie' like grasslands will heal the mind like no other place, it works for me.

My brother got me into wild camping (in a hammock!) and i love it! Ive been doing lots of walks across the Surry Hills (Hassocks to Brighton) to build up fitness and did my first trial solo camp in Joyden Forest the other week. The goal is to do long trails like the South Downs Way or the West Highland Way camping the whole time, im really excited to do it its so relaxing. Forget camp sites theres to many people and kids just walk off into the hills and poop in the woods to youre hearts content!
I live in henfield and loooove wild camping/hiking/ foraging. Big respect ✊🏼
This is the sweetest thing to watch! Its the innocence of hiking in the UK for the first time🥰 I hope you enjoy the rest of your adventures. For your next adventure here, the peak district is an amazing place to explore and from london you can get a train to edale and walk to the campsite (very close by). I've love solo hiking and camping, so would recommended it to anyone!

I also decided to slip in the forest this summer, I bought everything for camping ⛺️.
But I was afraid to sleep alone in the forest.
But after 2 months of life in Bishops Stortford I definitely see, that it reduced my social anxiety. Now im back to London and I get stressed to be here again, I just want back to forest place like this summer and be happy 😃
Yeah, very fair - I’ve still get to wild camp on my own. But eager to try! And I know what you mean about life in nature vs London. I love London but do think about leaving sometimes for this very reason ☺️

It's not just a hikers thing to be courteous and say Hi. Anywhere outside of london, if your eyes where to meet someone elses, then 99% of people would acknowledge you with a high, a nod or/and a smile :)
And indeed this isn't even a London thing! It is merely a big city vs rural society difference, applicable to most countries. Big cities are by their nature quite individualist and isolating. People do not pay attention to other individuals as you are all simply respective ants in the swarming mass going about your business. But in a village of 150 people, a new face in the local pub will not go unnoticed!

Just stumbled across this video because I've been considering going wild camping solo but not been brave enough yet! Really made me smile, I couldn't believe you hadn't seen a stile before 😂 but what an amazing thing to get out and do something new! 😊 I've done plenty of hiking and wild camping before, also hiked on my own, but still too scared to camp in the wilderness by myself 🥲 inspired by your willingness to try new things though! I should just go for it!

Great video, really easy to watch. I’d recommend the South West coastal path, I started from sandbanks a couple of weeks ago and walked for three days. Stunning scenery, great beaches for swimming and loads of wild camping spots. Be prepared for some steep sections though!

I LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIASM! I am the same way when it comes to trying out new things & experiencing new adventures. I’ve never camped outside before but I’m falling in love with all the videos I’ve watched of van/camping life and I hope to give it a try this fall when it gets cooler. Bought my first few essentials :) I enjoy hiking and I plan to spend more time outdoors to get accustomed to different weather/places/time of day!

Love this video! Been wanting to try solo wild camping for a while, for same reasons as you really and once I saw a video of someone doing it it instantly grabbed me, I knew I needed try it. Problem is I live in London and don't drive and all these amazing places seemed miles away, Wales ect. You've covered so many things to help me here so TY. Just need to ignore my brain telling me I'm being stupid, I'll only ruin it and get out there.

Good for you! I’m just about to do the same with my dog. I have solo camped before, but never with the intentions of making it a reoccurring thing. I’m at the store right now looking for the perfect tent! I hope your still doing this. I have subscribed so will look for follow up videos to this.

I did my first solo wildcamp last week in south Hampshire. Was meant to be with a friend but he felt ill during the day and got picked up. I could have gone to but chose to carry on solo! Looking forward to the next one!

When I go hiking, it is usually deep into the wilderness, and a lot is off trail.
But honestly, you had a great trek so close to civilization, lol. I need to try that sometime 😊.

One of my first solo "wild" camping was in Surrey Hills, even one time I slept under the naked sky, I had a tent with me but it was quite warm and very quiet, not windy, so just decided to just lay down like that, only when I woke up early in the morning it slowly started to rain/drizzle. But I love Surrey Hills, so many places to find and camp. Also I found out a family that I knew from young years is actually living in Guildford, though I never visted them there as they were working and busy so decided just to drive to Surrey Hills, find a car park, take my camping gear and walk to a random place fairly away from places I could be found and told to move somewhere.
That was brilliant 👏 👌 😀 Much respect for the 17 miles walk 🚶♀️ 👏

good effort. I have had a few failed recce of wildcamping places . one was in Torbay and it.was too dangerous to climb down to the pitch overlooking the sea. sat.on a bench by the car and sulked . and drove back and said to myself. know your limits. but It was an adventure and no injuries. glad you uploaded this video.

Hello from New Zealand. So nice to watch your video, to see the trepidation and excitement in your voice. Good on you for taking the plunge , you would have found out by now that leaving the known world behind for a short time recharges the batteries helps us make sense out of the present times that we are in. here in New Zealand we call 'Hiking' Tramping and in 2021 I did 67 tramps, mostly 1 day tramps. some 5 day tramps. I've been tramping most of my life and it has kept me fit and sane. if you ever come out this way I would like to show you our mountains and bush lore. Keep on tramping girl you will be a better person for it and you will keep your sanity, Remember, there is no such thing as FAIL.

I loved you vid...great motivation...I was surprised by the camp site reaction, many time I hav been asked if I booked for overtime stay and after saying no and just asking for a quiet place just to recover, I still got declined..ouch..and like you had to make my back home..stay sane girl

I thought you were wild camping! Didn’t realise you were aiming for a campsite. You should give it a go though, especially in the mountains, I think you’d love it.
It was gonna be my first time camping solo and wild camping seemed too ambitious 😅 But I just went wild camping in the Lake District and will be uploading a video from there soon!

you sound Scottish, American and English all at once. By the way its called a stile crossing and they were specifically designed to trip people up and cover them in mud.
I live in London, I went to uni in Guilford, and I have suddenly become obsessed with the idea of going solo hiking and exploring... not that I ever have really gone hiking before haha anyway, seeing this has made me want to get on the train IMMEDIATELY. I was thinking I would have to go all the way to the lake district or Scotland but this is great! And probably much better for a beginner than what I was thinking 😂

I use good quality dog poo bags to capture & take away my poo & wee from wild camping locations. You could have done this and desposed of the waste @ the toilets @ Horsley station on the way home.

When you sleep or hike in a forest or woods, within 6 hours human natural sense kicks in. Your sence of natural becomes more intense. Cities are evil depression energy masses. Loads of humans have died in London it a bad place to be, energy wise. ❤️
Now that was, funny! At least you had a fairly good hike! You should have a look at @Haze outdoors channel he does some awesome hikes in the UK. On my other channel, I will be doing a hike from one point to another point of the UK for a week in June/July or Aug, this will be cross between hills and trail paths......not sure yet but the planning and training have started!! I hope you get back out there and do some more hiking and camping, good luck! :D

I admire your spirit and desire to get away from London, I live and wild camp in Surrey, so know it pretty well, there arent many campsites, and with Covid, they are all crowded and getting expensive, being the most densely wooded County in England, there are lots of places you can wild camp, in the area you were, for anyone thinking of doing so, you do need to know where to go, not just jump on a Train and stick a tent up, PM me if you want some tips.

Did you know Dartmoor is radioactive. Has a really high Radon level. You should be aglow afterwards...
So many people can relate to this thank you for shareing im about to go on my first 1 next week down south should be fun. good luck sty safe.haha we have foxes here in south london my first night in the garden lasted till midnight then i went back in me bedroom 1 week later i stayed in the garden until 6 am until me dad woke me up lol .
