I have to say it scares the shit out of me when I see people running in the mountains though. To a mountain lion and some bears this can appear as an invitation to chase.
GPS is a MUST! And wear it on your body... not in a backpack that can fall over a cliff. A young lady just went missing in AZ a few weeks ago. They found her car with 2 flat tires. If she had a GPS, she could have gotten help asap, even if there was no cell service in the area. Instead, she left her car and vanished without a trace. Travelling solo can be fun and rewarding, just be SAFE first and foremost.

Yea , I'm going to have to wear headphones, I wake up to every little sound...plus, even tho it seems crazy, I will be car camping w/my 2 cats...and they make too much noise...i plan on not being in totally empty campgrounds, hopefully but I'm sure that will probably happen eventually. I've taken a few trips on my own but never overnight out in the open...well, in my car but not in a hotel...car life is right around the corner! YES BUT I have known a lot of women who have very unrealistic expectations about every aspect of their lives which is said too, because "NOTHING IS EVER EXACTLY PERFECT!"!!! No matter how much time, money and effort you waste on it!! There will always be that one unruly guest at a wedding, or the certain "moment in time" that didn't turn out the way you'd planned it (like a sudden unexpected rain storm), or some other situation that you just "have to deal with it and move on"!! And too many women focus on the negative INSTEAD of looking at "what they have" or trying to find the "silver lining" or "twisted sense of humor" in the moment! AND just because YOU ARE a woman, doesn't automatically mean "every man wants you" either!!! I am actually turned off by thin, young women in a bikini, as I prefer women who are usually older than me, has a more shapely figure and isn't a stuck up, entitled snob (Karen)!! As a man I generally avoid women EVEN now that I am single again, BUT I am dating an amazing woman who is very literally MY EVERYTHING!! Our life isn't "perfect" AND her and I both agree "our lives could be better", but we have each other and we have lived through some very dark problems in our past, and then over came TOGETHER as a team!! And I have been with AND around women, who constantly complain about EVERYTHING!! "There are too many bugs", "I can't stand the smell of smoke", "it is still raining", and on and on and on, they never look at the bright side of anything and never actually appreciate the time they spent camping!! Not my girlfriend though, she enjoys spending a rainy day in a tent snuggling with me, And smoke helps get rid of the bugs!! Of course her and I both came out of abusive relationships (marriages) and one thing too is, we wouldn't change anything about each other at all!! EVER!

The most important things are enough food and water depending on how remote you’ll be. For the first time, I’d overpack and bring everything you think you might need. From there you can scale down and decide what you’ll need and not need after you get the hang of it.

If it helps just remember unless they actually plan on harming you any other person on this planet will be scared of doing so, and will most likely feel scared the same way you would if you encounter them, because you never know, even if you come across a kid in the streets late at night you can potentially be in danger
We need to raise awareness for "Woman's Concealed Carry". Because apparently 90% of women on the internet refuse to buy a gun. Because it make sense to just shake in fear alone in life instead of getting permits, training, and a simple handgun.
I have to disagree if you are a woman, and you're willing to be alone miles from anywhere you need to be prepared. You need to be packing a gun and know how to use it. There are to many scumbags out there.
You’re not buying a gun and “learning how to use it” in days. Also, guns are expensive, so is ammo, and so is training. Especially when you’re going through a lot of ammo trying to learn how to kill people.

My friend brings her large dog when camping solo and I bring my gun.
My foster dog just got adopted so I don’t have that option anymore. Dogs are truly the best guards of all!

You can predators bears from entering your camp site with a portable electric bear fence. Small kit that brings huge peace of mind.

Frankly I’m more worried about mosquitoes and alligators in my neck of the woods.
I grew up around gators. They are a little scary but nothing a gator machete can’t handle!

As a woman I would NEVER camp alone or go running around in the woods alone. This is an EXTREMELY dangerous work we live in.
