18:43 - Rich, you have no idea how hard it was to grapple with the fact that such a sociopathic person managed to force myself and the first /r/SteamDeck moderation team almost completely out of the picture, silencing us from speaking out by banning us from the subreddit and blocking all of us from her account, and having the Reddit admins basically tell us to kick rocks. All because they created the subreddit. I was really hoping that the news would get covered back then, but it really felt as if no one cared... until the place got progressively worse and worse.
So the fact that she's been finally removed from power is nothing short of sweet vindication. Because **WE** were making that place great during the preorder era (not just the modteam, but the community) without a single input from Wasabi, and they did absolutely nothing but coast on our hard work and act as if she was royalty. To think that she felt so threatened by an internal letter of us simply airing our grievances that she flew off the handle and basically condemned us. I really hope for the best with /r/SteamDeck now, because Wasabi held that place back from being a phenomenal resource and community hotspot for all Steam Deck owners.
Felt like I really needed to lead with that comment about the subreddit. It's like being able to talk after being voiceless for a long time.

As someone who owns several Steam Controllers, an official Steam Controller 2 would be absolutely lovely. This DeckPad idea looks novel, but it's definitely going to need a lot of work in regards to comfortability and usability.
In regards to Ryujinx... I suppose it was only a matter of time. If Nintendo knew about Yuzu, then they definitely knew about Ryujinx. I'm sure there's a bunch of forks and other projects under wraps, but we can clearly see now that emulation efforts for that platform are going to be volatile for a good while. Still annoyed that Russ got another copyright strike on their channel for Nintendo content, but it's clear that they just have to steer clear from showcasing any of their stuff from here on out.
Remember what I said about those EmuDeck Machines in a previous comment? I didn't hate it, but I had a feeling that the EmuDeck team were biting off way more than they could chew, and that there's not much of a market they can capture for something like that when we already have so many different ways to engage in retro games emulation, from the Steam Deck to the wide spectrum of Anbernic devices. I'm fine with the project being shelved because it means they can move on to more important things.
Thanks for speaking on this. Looking back, I could have been more vocal about the problems. I tried to moreso be positive about other good spaces like r/SteamDeckHQ but there's value in speaking on the poor experiences that real people had.
What a surprise, she held a lot of her power in the reddit space. That place is a cesspool of wokies and sociopaths.
@@FanTheDeck Totally understandable. If anything, it goes to show that the Deck was bigger than just that place and the terrible moderation there wasn't going to hold back the community from being awesome. The alternatives (like /r/SteamDeckHQ) did step up and remind people what a good curated community space should be like.
Just so people can get an idea of the situation: the words "mod" and "this sub", among others, were banned so that people could not freely discuss about the state of the sub. No wonder it devolved into it being about pictures of steam decks, "recommend me a game" posts or just blind praise. Absolutely no substance whatsoever, hope it'll improve now!
Steamdeck with a gaming pc is the ultimate experience. Remote play for games that I can't normally run is such a huge upgrade.

@@RoachDogggJR I agree... PS4 controller is the closest thing I own that is gives me that little track pad. Who would have thunk it would make a difference post-PS4/current-SD days?
Still, a 2nd track pad would be cool to have if they are high quality and precise enough to handle the input.

@@RoachDogggJRI've had a PS5 controller for years now and it hasn't drifted at all, but I'd still prefer the Deck controller in the video.
The 4 back buttons make a huge difference.
@@RoachDogggJR I keep hearing that but I've been using the same PS5 controller for about 2 years and have had no issues. I also have a LOT of free time. I think it's a luck of the draw kind of thing.
Arrrrgh, no no. The edges on that controller should not be parallel. It's only comfortable like that on the Deck because of the spacing between the arms is wider. You have to minimise the amount a user's wrists bend. For a narrow controller like that, it needs to taper inwards, Ergonomics, people.
Shh, don't worry. They'll get it in product testing, and if they don't? Expect a 2.0 from all the complaints they'll get.
As a Linux user, I completely support a valve PC gaming monopoly.
Valve should make a phone!
Linux phone is a thing for every day use but never know sometime in the future.

Something like the Sony Xperia where it looks like a normal phone, but you can slide the screen up to reveal button controls, running SteamOS. It would be perfect for indie games on the go. I love the Steam Deck but it's still not at the level of convenience of small handhelds like the DS or PSP.
Phones will be dying soon, Valve should make an AR glasses that will replace a phone
I'd prefer Valve to release some sort of Proton for Android and iOS. I would be awesome to play low demanding Steam games on all phones.
I personally think ARM support is for the Valve Deckard VR Headset, basically they need ARM chip to do tracking as X86 not supported, but they also want it to do 2D gaming as well not only VR, so it becomes kinda like Vision Pro an all in one device but focused in gaming, for that to happen they need to have games supporting ARM and SteamOS also integrated with SteamVR.
Basically it's an ultimate gaming device if Valve get their hands on a really powerful ARM chip
with the right formfactor that could be sick.

Tried the Hori x Valve controller and it's great functionality wise.
It makes PC feels like SteamDeck Desktop mode. The deck shortcut works and even pop-up the custom key board I use on the deck
But quite light and plasticky..
Can you say where you got the controller? (if you did get one). Can't find a way to import it into the States.
I prefer a Xbox/playstation controller on PC.
Only a controller at least as good and with touchpads would make sense as an upgrade for me.

Whenever i hear "Arch Linux" i always hear btw after. i'm guessing it's a meme at this point.
That's a very neat controller project, but I'd like it to have speakers, just like the Valve one. Maybe it could emulate a DualSense controller which has a poor quality speaker but is implemented in Sony titles and it would be just nice to have.
Sold my LED for an OLED after a year of hardcore pc rts and strategy games still going strong.
For the steam controller idea, would be great if you could split the controller like a joycon.

You're right it got delisted from EGS and Steam but not GOG. Sorry about that.
@@FanTheDeckThat's not to say that it won't be. Everyone in the gog community has some thoughts or worries that it might. But at the moment we've got no word of when a delisting might come or if gog will keep the old version and not get the updated version, due to the PSN overlay that comes with the remastered version effectively being DRM.
Just want people to know that if anyone was wanting to play it, there are still options.

I hope all of this ARM work makes its way to MAC. I would love to play my entire Steam library on my MacBook. There is no competition when it comes to Apple Silicon performance while on battery. I had my desktop at home running windows, but for mobile I would love to use my Mac.
I wouldn't use the word performance, but efficiency I would agree.
@@DracossaintI would say performance. Nothing else comes close to the performance on battery life, while actually maintaining battery life. My mobile device is gonna be unbearably slow when it's fuckin dead.
The Asahi project is making that possible. In fact Valve chose the same X86 emulator/recompiler software as Lina for running X86 games in Steam for Linux for testing and fixing the GPU driver she made. I don't know if any of that will make it to MacOS, though. But if you don't mind dual booting MacOS and Linux you will have nearly all of Steam games playable on your machine.
My biggest reason to buy my steam deck OLED was to support gaming on Linux and because it came out with Linux.
I would love a new steam controller
I know I’m a little fringe here, but what I really hope valve arm steam can do, is also be able to play any game basically on the steam client even on MAC OS. It would be really great to be able to play any game (hardware permitted) a game on MAC OS or even spin up a parallels on MAC with a steam OS that would work seamlessly.
I sorely miss physical, clicky buttons on electronics, especially phones. Touch screens just never really "hit" for me.
I wonder if Valve has a special feature planned for the Steam Deck 2 and releasing a controller now would make them obsolete shortly if that feature is not on the controller? In any case we have a long wait even if it is even planned. I was hoping the controller might also be announced when they finally release Steam OS for pc's, (it would make sense to release it then). but that also seems to not be happening any time soon either.
There's another thing that Valve pushed related to waydroid. It looks like they may also be bringing android games to pc.
Why not have one trackpad in the middle of that controller, I rarely use the left hand one, having two on a controller like that just makes the ergonomics weird
Why don't the Arch devs have a patreon or something? I would love to support them continuing to upgrade arch and if it can make some of them full-time that would be amazing. Just seems like a win-win
Arch linux's front page features a donation link and a direct donation button. In fact, most big open source projects have a donations page.
EmuDeck hardware just seemed redundant. I mean, it works on all the handheld PCs, and you can install it on a desktop too. A dedicated device just sounds like a less useful version of the options already available.
I wonder if someone could forcefully enable the Linux support in battle eye anticheat on the client side or if it's a thing on the server side.
I don't get why Sony hasnt done a portable that runs PS4 and previous gen games. They always seem sure of making new(old) hardware and limited games. It's the reasons consoles are dying.
I'm happy with my Steam deck though, because i can play all my PC games. Except GTA5 because Cockstar suck.
I really hate Sony so much. I had my PS4 many years ago when it came out and it was harder to play since their online services required to be paid. But they don’t accept my credit card because it has to match the region based on the account. Only because my country isn’t listed.
Everything seems to be doing fine when PS games were releasing on PC. Until they fucking introduced the req for PSN. I can’t buy their fucking games and its illegal to workaround it even if I want to give them some real cash.
trackpads are great... I use them even for FPS, so much better than a joystick
I don't use normal joystick. I use Flick Stick with Gyro which I would say might be even better than trackpads.
@@FanTheDeck glad that works for you, I cannot stand it. Trackpads are so fast and accurate... same as I prefer a thumb trackball on other machines after getting used to it, just takes some thumb training and its so fantastic. I can't stand using any controller where I am stuck with sticks.

What is Wayland? sorry while I been gaming since intel 8088/86, building pc since mid 90’s. I’m a noob When come anything Linux. I know when I tired haloISO on my 2700x/16GB/GTX 1080ti. Steam os was buggy mess, couldn’t get pop up menu half the time to pop up, or even shutdown. My onboard audio didn’t work, but thru hdmi worked ok. Once booted Linux was fine. Steam os desktop ui/big picture didn’t work at all. But again this was like steam os 3.2. So it was few yrs ago.
I plan hopefully buy 6900xt at some point but prices here Canada still kinda high $900+ wtf. I know steam os will favour amd hardware.

Sorry to correct but games aren't expected to work on Linux, if you have seen a lot of games have refused to support the OS. However it is expected that Proton works with games.

The valve PC also ran on Linux, Apple can't run most games, so most PC games use Windows. Linux is a non-proprietary software that let's Steam mind it's own buisness.
Poor wording on my part. I meant that as in, they didn't want to rely on Windows and be forced to ship WITH Windows.
