    DEWALT Vs Milwaukee
    DEWALT updated the FlexVolt Reciprocating Saw and also introduced the 20-volt Power Detect Reciprocating Saw at about the same time. With our FlexVolt video, linked above, coming out first, many people asked about the power and performance differences between the two DEWALT models. While comparing, we also made a few fans very happy by adding in the Milwaukee FUEL 2721-20. Interestingly enough, the Milwaukee FUEL 2721-20 is not Milwaukee's top dog that would be in the fight against the two top DEWALT Recip Saws. The Milwaukee Super Sawzall would probably be a more fair fight, but the 2721 matches up much better with the DEWALT models.
    Power Detect Vs Flexvolt
    The introduction of the Power Detect 20-volt tools and the new updated FlexVolt tools seemed to happen at the same time. Is that a coincidence? We think not. DEWALT has to update some of the FlexVolt tools in order for the Power Detect tools not to be as powerful as the FlexVolt tools. Yes, the DEWALT Power Detect tools are that impressive.
    One key difference we find when we compare the FlexVolt tools to the Power Detect tool is the runtime. In very power-hungry tools, the FlexVolt tools have always had a shorter runtime. The latest Power Detect tools have been able to supply that power and also provide very impressive runtimes to match. That leaves everyone trying to decide if they want the most powerful tool or a very close second in power and more runtime.
    DEWALT Power Detect DCS368
    Reciprocating saws are not as easy to judge power differences with once they reach a certain level. Like the DEWALT FlexVolt, the Power Detect model will bend a blade before you can get the saw to stall. Even dropping the DCS368 down to a 5.0 Ah battery did not make the saw stoppable. This new saw is very impressive. But when you compare it to many others on the market, it is missing a few items.
    Most other top tier recip saws have an orbital option that allows them to chew through wood incredibly fast. The DEWALT saws both lack rafter hooks and adjustable shoes. Both options are common and used often with reciprocating saws. Many other high-end saws will give the user access to different max speeds to help them control cuts through different materials. So is DEWALT behind the times not having these options on their recip saws? Yes, DEWALT is needing to add something to this line to keep up with the Jones. DEWALT still has a solid and powerful no-frills saw, just not one that everyone will run to the store to buy because of the lacking features.

    TESTING FLAWS: Yes, there are a bunch of them and I invite you to discuss them below to help guide me to what you want to see. Using the same blade for each saw was not optimal, but due to our state being on lockdown it is the best I could do. Not moving the clamps after each cut was an error but I was fearing this video could get very long. This is difficult shooting alone as we cannot be together in groups. I look forward to the comments!

      WorkshopAddict I don’t consider these tests to be flawed. Yes, they aren’t ideal, but for the purpose of showing the minor differences between these saws, using a used blade and switching it between the saws was a good compromise. Comparing the different batteries was also good, we could see where the newer 21700 based batteries definitely supply more power in these saws. It wasn’t a huge difference in speed in your tests, but it was noticeable in how much the saw bogged down, and we could hear that.
      So, while not an optimal scientific test, it a solid and useful comparison.

      Looked pretty good to me. Considering your situation. Maybe one thing you could have done and I don't know if you own one was to mount the timber on a bench vice. If it had the capacity? Less vibration if it's mounted to a bench that is heavy or anchored to the floor, reducing the risk of the vibration syncing with blade stroke. All in all though, I'd agree with the post above completely. The point was made clear enough!

      I have nothing to say about the tests, they were Real World tests. But at least put the saws on the floor! I was cringing so hard every time one of them fell.
      I get that they are work tools and might very well end up being dropped eventually anyways, but in this case it could have easily been avoided.
      I like your videos and will definitely keep watching the future content you make 🍻🍻.

      The flexvolt one came out years ago (2016 when I bought it), the flex detect just came out last year. The biggest upgrade to Dewalt's line up was the flex detect circ saw which had a major improvement on the flexvolt one.
      Still waiting on a better version of the power planer (hate the safety switch that replaced the corded version's on lock), and a battery powered belt sander.

The performance between the two is so similar and if you need a little more power you can slap a flexvolt battery on the power detect and go. With the flexvolt you can only use flexvolt batteries and the 20v can use both

It’s absolutely devours 6x6 and 4x4 treated on the daily. Orbital with a samurai sword angled wood blade makes any saw fly through 6x6 but having a good powerful saw behind those specs helps. DeWalt literally came out and said this to be true. The 12, 9, and so on Ah rating is for the 20v setting. It's an advertising ploy. The 12Ah FlexVolt is 4Ah in 60v and 12Ah in 20v. 9Ah FlexVolt is 3Ah in 60v and 9Ah in 20v. DeWalt has said this

    • @BURNZ2ACRISP
      @BURNZ2ACRISP 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's why the 20v lines make more sense because they're close enough in power but significantly more runtime. Especially putting the 12Ah Flex battery on the 20V tools to get the maximum 12Ah runtime

    • @BURNZ2ACRISP
      @BURNZ2ACRISP 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's also the reason the Ah rating is labeled right next to the 20v Max logo on the Flex batteries instead of underneath the 60v logo. They're saying it's a 9Ah, 12Ah in it's 20v mode. Divide the rating by 3 and you get your Ah in 60v. Exactly the way it works

    Hi Brian,
    First you are correct Milwaukee is the king in (sawzall) DeWalt and other brands are (reciprocating saw), LOL...
    I use both brand (Milwaukee and DeWalt) i have to say i do like the new DeWalt 20v Power Detect reciprocating saw. I like that you can use all the batteries on the DeWalt line. With the flexvolt you can only use the flexvolt batteries. Plus it was about the same to the milwaukee 2720 sawzall. Just no rafter hook and adjustable shoe but not really a deal breaker.
    Now i hope dewalt can come out with a new version of the compact reciprocating saw with less vibration. That's also a great reciprocating saw and size for tight spaces.
    I have the milwaukee 2720 and i do like it alot. The only thing i don't like is the blade release switch on the side. I do like the DeWalt system better.
    This video was a great comparison to the milwaukee 2720. The super sawzall is a whole different beast.
    I will differently buy the new dewalt power detect reciprocating saw. It will work great for my projects.
    Thanks for this video.

It does have an adjustable shoe. With my new cordless milwaukee sawzall which has the rafter hook i still place it down on the ground when i do demo work. Don't get me wrong it's nice to have it for those certain situations.
      Just like the adjustable shoe. I might have used it three times in the past 25 yrs. So for me it nice to have but still not a deal breaker if you don't really use it as much.
      Still a great sawzall and reciprocating saw to have when you need cordless

    I'm already on the Dewalt 20V platform, so I would definitely go with the Power Detect over the FlexVolt because I can use all my 20V batteries on it . I am really curious how the New 6.0ah battery stacks up against the New 8.0ah , there didn't seem to be any difference the one time you use the 6ah , but I'd like to see more , reason being I just bought a 2 pack of 6.0ah batteries from HD on sale for $126.00, I couldn't resist for the price , I thought it was a great deal. • @BURNZ2ACRISP
    @BURNZ2ACRISP 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Getting the Power Detect 20v is the way to go. It's close in power to the 60v and way longer run times. Higher Ah capacities compared to the maximum 4Ah in FlexVolt. You have the FlexVolt 9Ah and 12Ah capacities in the 20v that are super long compared to the 60v 4Ah(12Ah battery). The substantial lack in runtime is not justified for it's only marginal power increase. Just my opinion

    • @BURNZ2ACRISP
      @BURNZ2ACRISP 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's also why I prefer their discontinued 40v line of outdoor tools over the 60v line. 60v is powerful and nice. But they're only marginally stronger and the 40v 7.5Ah is a true 7.5Ah compared to the 60v's best 4Ah(12Ah) battery. I get 35-40 solid minutes of runtime on my 40v 7.5Ah blower compared to getting about 18-20 minutes on the 4Ah 60v blower. Much longer runtimes for only slightly less power. If 60v had a legitimate large capacity battery then I would love them. They should make a separate line of strictly 60v batteries that are not FlexVolt and don't work on 20v tools, they then could make a larger 60v battery and not have to coincide with the 20v compatibility. At least make a 60v that is legitemally 6Ah and give us somewhat tolerable runtime
