    Dr Yoann Birling left France at the age of 18 years old to learn the wisdom of Chinese medicine in Beijing, China. He obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and a Master of Medicine from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, arguably the most reputed Chinese medicine university. During his studies, Yoann followed many TCM experts including Pr Dong Zhenhua, Pr Liu Qingguo, Pr Hao Wanshan and Pr Wang Zhaoyang.     Thanks for this topic. We hardly avoid those foods without joy, haha; that s a good idea to add some other foods to balance the fire element. Do you consider coffee also inducing fire-raising? Have you heard someone say that milk is cold nature product, so espresso + milk can be balanced? cheers

      Hi Katie, thank you for your comment. Yes, coffee is hot in nature but it generally lead to heart fire only. Coffee is not tonic but instead drains on the existing resources and brings them upwards, so it's pretty bad to run on coffee. Limited consumption is fine for most people but people with Yin deficiency or qi deficiency should avoid it.
      Good point about the milk. It's not a bad idea as milk is more material, we call it blood nurturing. Therefore it helps to ground the dispersing/exciting function of coffee.
