Dark Messiah of Might & Magic came out like 5 years before Skyrim. And it's more like a Half-Life clone than a Skyrim clone.

5:03 The original joke here was that he took the Yugioh opening and pasted on faces from the expansion of Heroes IV. The reason it got taken down was that he used the entire opening with only part of the visuals covered up by his edits, so it pinged the copyright system.

@@xepher6538 You can still watch the OG one in certain countries, but for most of the world it's blocked.
Funnily enough, Heroes of Might and Magic 5 still have a pretty solid fanbase in Slavic countries with local active servers, youtube channels, new game mods, and rebalance overhauls made by the community - I especially love the full randomizer gamemode where you get a random hero with all random units and artifacts, quickly upgrade them in 10 minutes, and then fight another player - quick and fun chaos :D
Good reason for it; Heroes V was actually a really solid piece of design. Story aside, the thing was a really good game, elements-wise. Yeah, Necro was OP as balls before updates, and Inferno still has pretty useless racial special mechanics. But it's actually damn good, and still holds up. The magic system and spells, the whole adding alternate unit upgrades, etc. Solid and good natural developments of the series. Too bad the AI was utter garbage.
It’s because homm 5 is really similar to homm 3, which is pretty much counts as religion for gamers in post soviet space)

I remember playing this game for the first time and having ogres with me. I was attacking an enemy hero when suddenly I noticed that the ogres have a ranged attack and I'm like sure that sounds awesome. Then the ogre picks a goblin next to it and throws it at the enemy target!

Yep,
Dark Messiah's not a Skyrim clone. It has very little to do with Skyrim, or even Oblivion. It's not even a traditional RPG, it's an immersive sim with a combat focus. More of a game about its combat and experimentation within those systems, with stealth being pretty bad and unfinished.
Good reaction as always but that throwaway comment did strike a chord. Or a nerve. I understand it was probably a joke, but still.

There's a HRTA mod for heroes V that has a live online with active players. Although it's quite different from a regular game. You and your opponent both draft factions, fraft heroes and then you have limited amount of money to build your hero and army instantly (you basically level up for money), buy some artifacts and then fight. Basically a final battle simulator. Saves a lot of time and gives a lot of flexibility in building your hero.

V is the one I've actually played, when I was younger and I'd play it on my brother's computer. NGL, I think a modern version could be really good and fun.

As a Pole who's early childhood took place in late 90's early 2000's, which makes me severely overqualified in all things related to HOMM as I *probably* spent several tens of thousands of hours playing all of these games, Heroes V is my second favorite game in the HOMM multiverse... right behind M&M VIII Day of the Destroyer. HOMM3 is on the third place.
Command and Conquer Remastered (of Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert 1) released in 2020 on Steam. Also tbf, while C&C4 TT sucks, the games released for most of their time on EA was really good. TS, RA2, Generals, Zero:Hour, CNC3, RA3, and recently the Remaster.
9:50 ACTUALLY, the normal goblin is a pathway to The Most Balanced exploit one can possibly ever do, which will allow you to win literally any fight. Technically any hero can do it, but the safest way is to do it as a knight who has the guardian angel ability.

Well I guess the most alive Heroes is heroes 3 what with the fanmade horn of the abyss expansion and 2k players online in multiplayer and ranking system for competitive players. Probably just as alive or even more so than when it released and that's amazing

Ironically settlers V does NOT contain ANY of the expansions on gog,as much as i share seth's love for gog sometimes the game is incomplete BUT that isnt thr case for homm 3,4 and 5 i got them all cpmplete on gog so just keep that in the back of your mind.

Skyrim wishes it had battle system like in dark messiah. And I like Skyrim.
The best thing about Heroes V? It directly leads to Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. The human queen? Her kidnapping by demons in a roundabout somewhat confusing that to put it simply leads to her getting knocked up and birthing Sereth, the main character of Dark Messiah. This games awful plot led to one of the most celebrated cult classics of the 21st century.
I live in Germany and I can say without a doubt that there aren't that many Arabs around.

Wow wow wow... Hold your horses. First of all, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic came out 5 years before Skyrim. And it's more of an early immersive sim than a typical action rpg. This game is closer to dishonored than skyrim. But bigger diffrence between skyrim(or oblivion) and dark messiah are Skyrims has open world but DM has combat mechanics and choices that matter.

Homm is a dead series. Because Ubersoft just can't put enough seasonal battlepasses, cosmeticts and lootboxes into a single-player turn-based game. Trey tried, but they failed.
Seeing the Q♠️ tattoo almost made me Rage, but this is Seth so it made me laugh. The Q♠️culture disgusts me with a passion.
Heroes is dead as long as Ubisoft holds the rights. They are unwilling to make anything but a cashgrab and there isn't much cash left to grab after Heroes 6 and 7. I am a massive fan of Heroes 3 and 5 and wouldn't even buy Heroes 8 if it somehow turned out good, because I sure as shit ain't gonna touch Ubisoft Connect. If your game isn't on Steam/GoG or requires a 3rd party launcher, don't count on getting my money unless it's a 10/10 indie title like Starsector.
