      @@StefanUrkel thanks, I certainly think so. I've seen some reviews say that they lack bottom end? Weird because they sound phenomenal to these ears but a guess that room size plays a big part in that and in deciding which are the most suitable speakers for your individual listening space.
      I'd like to hear the Kef LS50 Metas for myself but they'd have to be something truly exceptional to justify me trading the Quads.

    • @linkeddevices
      @linkeddevices 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is a trinity of speakers that rebooted kef, the 3001 series center which was the first time they fully hopped over to the new patents after the original patent lapsed. the center was designed entirely from scratch, even it's drivers were only used for itself which has never been done before for a center.
      the center then allowed then to create the perfect house sound, then they tweaked the mains to match it seamlessly off axis, again entirely from scratch, the mains would evolve to the LS50s which is why it had the same exact crossover point and port tuning, and the larger center would evolve into the pod on the blade. the htb subwoofer was their 1st attempt at a back to back woofer design and you can see how the 3001SEs and the htb2 saw eachother, and liked what they were seeing, I months later they gave birth to the ls50 and the Blade.
      the ls50 can't be any better, in fact despite its extended low end the final variant of the 3001SEs sounds way more holographic like the blade than the ls50s which deliberately were made so that they would sound smaller than both the 3001SEs and the Blades, otherwise you can buy 2 K92 subs and perch the ls50s on top. boom, 3 way.

      @@hclandscapes Specs show it goes down to 46 Hz where the DBR62 goes down to 44 Hz. Not going to be a huge difference in bass. I'm amazed at the bass I get from the UB52's. FYI, when you calculate the total driver/cone surface area of the separate mid and bass driver of the UB52 and the single mid/bass driver of the DBR62 it's the same. If you want a bit more liveliness, more detail, speed and more accurate soundstage and imaging you might seriously think about the UB52 over the DBR62.

      Its all subjective... your listening environments is gonna be shaped different and a different size, your AVR/amps power supply is gonna differ, speaker placement and listening distance, whether your using a sub, multi subs or no subs, background noise and room treatments... these things will all effect your listening volumes and how a speaker sounds to you, just because one person bottoms out a speaker at there preferred listening volume, in there listening environment, doesnt mean you'll ever experience the same such strains put onto the speaker.
      Personally i've owned a set of LS50s for 3-4 years now and have never came anywhere close to bottoming them out. but im listening to them in a relatively small room and relatively near field with dual SB1000s, in a much larger room at a greater listening distance and especially without subs maybe id stress them out much more and potentially even bottom them out but in my experience with LS50s so far theyve been absolutely flawless.

    I've wanted the KEF LS50W since they came out and finally was able to snag one for 1.3k (scratch and dent).
    Then I started really looking at the reviews ad see a lot of people are having issues with them after 1years (after warranty expires)...
    Apparently the magic smoke problem is not uncommon. Most have had their units repaired after warranty period.
    I am thinking, maybe I should have gone for the Meta and re-used my old shitty amp and then save up for a better amp.
    The Meta will probably last at least 20 years.

    • @TysonHook-22-
      @TysonHook-22- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the new age wireless tech and advanced app tech of speakers and subs is exciting and interesting and most likely the way of the future... and will most likely burn many early adapters since as of now longevity among other things is still a major issue, wireless speaker amps are notorious for burning out and can be much more of a pain in the long run for owners then they are a convenience and many unlucky/unknowing consumers will unfortunately buy into them only to have regrets in the end, which is sad to see since for the cost of wireless speakers especially KEFs youd think they'd perform absolutely flawless for years and years to come and a bad enough experience could turn someone off of the brand/world of loud speakers for years to come.
      and with a constantly changing and developing tech world the apps of today and devices we use them on arent gonna be the apps/devices of the future 5, 10, 20 years down the road... so for how long companies choose to maintain and update an app is unseen, not to mention whether or not one will have to keep an old phone/tablet in working order for years to come just to maintain app usage and product connectivity, I mean, bluetooth is the thing used to sync/connect devices nowadays but is it gonna be in 10 years?
      and when does the development of apps, internal amps etc begin to take away focus from the speakers overall sound quality like what we've seen with the shift of AVRs being loaded with more features then ever at the sacrifice of power/sound quality.
      I for one am plenty happen with my wired and non app dependent speakers and expect to own my LS50s and SVS SB1000s for life. and have no desires to own or upgrade to wireless speakers/subs or app compatible speakers/subs anytime soon.

    soundstage. I do find these bottom out very easily as you mention in your review. Did you find that the
    regular LS 50 has the same limitation? Is this is normal behavior? If it is the
    only way I could consider keeping them would be with a sub and a high pass filter
    to cut these off at 50 - 60 HZ. If this is normal behavior I can’t understand

    • @TysonHook-22-
      @TysonHook-22- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the LS50s are the first of KEF speakers to get the META treatment for a reason... LS50s are easily the best selling speakers KEF makes, I mean, if you buy the Q series its only a matter of time before you start considering upgrading to LS50s... the Q series is highly affordable in the world of speakers and anyone that can afford the Qs can afford the LS50s with some patients and good money management skills... once you enter the world of coaxial/uni-Q drivers its hard to go back to anything else imho, many that own KEF Qs will eventually get the upgrade bug and the logical step is to go up the line of KEFs, the LS50s and R series speakers are pricey but they're still obtainable by many.
      Everyone knows KEF puts a lot of R&D into the design of there speakers (one of the top within the industry) but the LS50s have to be the number 1 most tested speaker in KEF labs, id assume...
      If you think about it, it makes perfect sense that the LS50(meta) is a flagship... its essentially the most bare bones speaker KEF make at an exceptional build quality standard... when it comes to KEFs R&D testing the LS50 has to be the go to cabinet to test new uni-Q drivers in, I mean, just think about it, its the easiest among KEFs high end speakers to transport in and out of testing chambers/to and from work benches, easiest to wire being just a single driver compared to the additional bass resonator drivers on the R series, reference and above and its cabinet is vary well built and minimal for measurement interference by design with its curved baffle...
      Whether KEF is making minor or major design changes to the uni-Q driver, im 100% positive the first speaker they always test the driver in is the LS50s, hence the LS50 being the first/only speaker among KEF speaker line to get the Meta treatment at this point.
      Typically the same uni-Q driver from the LS50s is used across board on all the KEF high end speakers, to my knowledge this is the first time the LS50s driver has been undisputedly different/better then those used in the R series, Reference series, Blades 1&2 and Muron... since all of KEFs high end speakers typically share the same gen. uni Q driver, with the LS50s Meta being the new exception to that notion being that the Meta tech makes its uni-Q driver the most advanced among all of KEFs speakers.
