    I hope this finally making it to Netflix will give it the traction it needs for the next sequel! The CGI was phenomenal.

    The origin of the stone hand was explained in the web comic Blackhand, which depicted the unnamed Blackrock chieftain being enveloped by lava and his fist encased in stone by the furies upon attempting to retrieve the Doomhammer.

      MisterJay_Gaming I honestly don’t do too many videos on TH-cam anymore save the odd meme or rant here and there. A good source for warcraft lore videos, though, is Nobbel87. I don’t watch him, personally, but I’ve heard he’s great for people wanting to learn more about, or quickly catch up on some warcraft lore. I just learn my lore from the game or wiki searching anything I don’t know

    this is definitely an over explanation for someone just trying to get the basic plot tbh.
    With that being said this was incredibly informative!

    • @TheWideMurloc
      @TheWideMurloc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, but I think the basic plot was covered in the movie well enough. It just kinda relies on the story being continued later. It leaves a lot of plot threads unfinished, but that’s where the first game ended too.
      That’s why I think they should have started with warcraft 3’s story. It was the best one, stood on its own without needing to understand the last 2, and actually concludes satisfyingly. The first 2 games would’ve worked better as movies if they did them afterward as prequels

  • @TrevorHOL

    I really enjoyed the CGI in the movie but the plot felt like someone tried to cram lord of the rings into 2 hours, this clears up a lot of little details and helps me better understand the context. thanks

    I only played Warcraft III and the Frozen Throne. I always thought the movie was about Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2, but it also had WoW elements! 🤯 for me it was a mistake to not make the movie about Arthas saga only

      @@FaustoRG the movie only covered 1, but I agree completely that it should’ve started at 3 and saved the first 2 for prequels if it was a success. I think 3 is where most people who enjoy the lore and story got their start in Warcraft.

    What happened with the kid of Durotan? I thought it was Thrall, but they named him Go'el.
    Great video! Nice work!

    • @TheWideMurloc
      @TheWideMurloc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Go'el is Thrall's real name. This will be a spoiler for the later stories, but at this point it seems unlikely they will continue the story because of how poorly it did in the states. Don't read further if you'd like to take your chances on the rare chance they do make more.
      Go'el was picked up by Commander Blackmoore and raised among other orcish prisoners at the Durneholde internment camp as a pit gladiator, given the name Thrall. But was rescued by Taretha Foxton, a human woman who sympathized with thrall and helped raise him, and was the closest thing to family thrall had.

    i thought red orcs were the ones who dranked the fel blood. i just thought some orcs were green and some were brown.

    • @TheWideMurloc
      @TheWideMurloc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The red fel orcs are the ones who continually consumed the blood after they had already turned green.
      It’s like “stage 2” of corruption and usually also drives them to blind raging madness. iirc Grom is the only orc to come back from going red and even then it’s hard to tell if that’s actually canon, or if they just used red as an indicator for corrupted orcs in WC3 for gameplay reasons and didn’t canonize it until TBC

    • @TheWideMurloc
      @TheWideMurloc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A good parallel is the blood elves vs the demonic elves in sunwell plateau. Blood elves with simply green eyes indulged in the fel magic turning their eyes green, while the demonic ones are like stage 2 and went whole hog in fel crap

    That story with Sargeras is false. He did not stride to destroy all Titan created stuff.. His main enemy is the voidlords. And since the Titan Spirit that lives in Azeroth to him seems corrupted (due to the old gods being there. He wants to destroy Azeroth at all cost. Because the Titan in Azeroth is the most powerful Titan that ever existed.. and he (actually its a she9 is still sleeping..
    His only goals are destroying the Voidlords and remove their influence from the universe... yet thats not really working out for him.. But yeah.. the wars made him mad.. indeed.. and mad people do mad things.

    I played the game for 15 years, the movie still didnt make any sense.
    That was stormwind?? None of the characters of the game were in the movie.
    There are so many things you can do in the wow universe and this is what they did with it?

    • @TheWideMurloc
      @TheWideMurloc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the characters in the movie are only referenced in little readable items in wow cuz the movie is set during the first RTS game, long before the events of WoW.
      The only characters from wow that show up in the movie is varian wrynn as a child, and thrall as a baby (go’el) and varian isn’t even alive in the current story anymore. Everyone in wow was either a small child, or completely seperated from the events around stormwind.
      Fun fact, if they had continued the story further with sequels, stormwind ended up getting sacked, and had to be totally rebuilt, which explains many differences with the stormwind in the movie vs games
      Though ultimately, I agree this was not the best way for them to start a cinematic franchise. I got into Warcraft’s story in Warcraft 3, with the fall of lordaeron, Arthas, and the burning legion invasion, and didn’t feel like I was missing anything for not having played 1 and 2. They should’ve started with that story. One much more interesting on its own than the first war, and closer to WoW to be familiar to WoW players
      THEN if it was successful they could’ve done prequels

    • @TheWideMurloc
      @TheWideMurloc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh right medivh and khadgar are in WoW too, forgot about them. Medivh only really shows up as an old spirit though. Khadgar is just using magic to prolong his life. You’d think more mages would be doing that if it’s that simple

    • @Blue.Diesel
      @Blue.Diesel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheWideMurloc If it was set before wow, then where is the arthas storyline and who disgarded it to make the movie fail.

    • @TheWideMurloc
      @TheWideMurloc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Blue.Diesel The Arthas storyline was Warcraft 3. Arthas was probably a baby during the events of the movie. Also he's up north in Lordaeron.
      The timeline looks like WC1 and then wc2 being a direct sequel leaving off right afterward, then 3 takes place on the opposite side of the continent, and there's a time gap between 2 and 3, which is where and when the characters and story leading into WoW began.
      The decision not to do 3's story was probably just some head honcho not thinking about the choice thoroughly, and just thinking "well lets start from the first game, people might be lost if we start later", and not realizing that most of what happened in 1 and 2 is kinda just considered "history" during the rest of the story

    • @TheWideMurloc
