I've always loved fire emblem. So, almost any one of those. If I had to pick one specifically, I would pick Three Houses. It gave me Harry Potter vibes and held me over until Hogwarts Legacy.

I absolutely loved this game on my PC. I have been waiting for this to hit switch for a very long time. I am so happy to see it finally released!

I remember playing strategy games in the old family pc like 20 years ago. Or playing with friends in lan mode and getting smashed (Warcraft?). It is definitely an interesting one! They could do a DLC where you can start your project by launching a nuclear bomb to start the process as an alternative with different outcomes.
My favorite strategy game is probably Into the Breach, unless Slay the Spire counts. This one looks quite interesting as well. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. That said, are you guys planning to cover Astral Ascent? It's a roguelite that recently released that has been criminally overlooked. Nearly everyone I've seen playing it has placed it in the "S" tier, right up there with Dead Cells / Hades. It's currently sitting at 90 on Metacritic and has an "overwhelmingly positive" rating on Steam... yet none of the major Switch channels have reviewed it. Seriously, this game *needs* to get some attention and is a game no fan of roguelites should miss out on. I'd absolutely love to hear your thoughts on it and see you guys help others find this incredibly well made gem.
My all time favourite strategy game is always Sid Meyers Civilization VI but I don’t have it on Switch, but my favourite to play on Switch so far is Dicey Dungeon, the stages are challenging, both foes and characters are quirky and the music is bopping :D
Gotta say my favourite strategy game right now is Howl. It just came out in the latest Indie World but is such a cool little girl. The visuals are amazing and the game really ramps up nicely
my favorite strategy game is Company of Hero's, still cant believe we get one of the best war strategy games on the switch. I think that's why the switch is so successful appeals to a wider range of players not just people who like mario etc.
Since you are about adictive games a lot (which is great!), do a review on Astlibra! Such a good rpg with so adictive progression system. Steam reviews didn’t lie at all 👈
XCom Revenge of the fallen is amazing. I also always go back to Battle Brothers. A great strategy which is a little more cumbersome on the switch but I still love it.
My favorite strategy game is Factorio, you get to deaign and build massive factories, military complexes, mining outpostw, railways, armiesbof automated drones and more.
Favourite strategy game has to be Civilization VI. Have all the expansions and have sunk countless hours into the it. The performance, especially end game, isn't perfect but what a great game you can take on the go
Not sure if it entirely counts but my favourite strategy game is fell seal. Just as good as a fire emblem or triangle strategy but much less well known. Definitely worth checking out if you have no idea what I'm talking about
This looks like exactly what I've been looking for! As for Switch strategy games, the XCOM 2 collection is phenomenal. It's got its performance issues, but they did a great job with the port of such a classic game. On the lighter end of the scale, Advance Wars 1+2 are a great time and very beginner friendly. I also can't recommend Bad North enough. It's minimalistic, but it's a great game to play when you're not sure what you want to play.
@@dracul74 I downloaded it from the eShop. It's really only occasional frame rate drops, quite long load times, and lower quality graphics. Just like on other consoles, it can be a bit buggy, but as long as you save often, it is very playable.
Mario & Rabbids Sparks of Hope is my favourite strategy game. This one looks like an interesting one, though I think the little character pictures are a bit naff. Looks good though. Sounds like your "See ya" is a bit broken 😂.
My favorite strategy game was called M. A. X. It was a relatively old PC game where you built huge facilities over much of the map and upgraded things via research or mining gold. It was oddly relaxing to just beat the computer controlled opponents over and over. This game might be a nice departure from the roguelites I've been struggling with lately.
Why do I get the feeling Spiff will take a gander at this game.... On the other hand, great video. You put good arguments to buy the game, both from the content and the value. Bummer I barely have time to play games; but this seems the type to play both actively and as a loading game.
Favourite strategy game would be Civilization 5. It was my comfort game during college years. Picked up CIvilization 6 on Switch so I can play it during my daily commute.
Favorite strategy game on Switch has to be Northgard. Put countless hours into that game and once you get used to the controls, it's just as good on Switch as it is PC.
Age of the empires 2 on the PC was some game in its day, I've spent countless hours playing it. Also Command & Conquer 2 on the playstation i think was another great game.
Wingspan and Dicey Dungeons are my favorites right now. I grew up playing the heck out of Civ 2 and love the Civ series. This one looks great! *Adds to ever growing wishlist*
Great review. My favourite strategy games on switch is ultimate doom and doom 2 on ultra violence. You have to manage your ammo for different scenarios. Pick up health and ammo when it's most beneficial to you, and don't use the rocket launcher in a confined space. Classic.
I haven't played any strategy games in a while, I do have Weedcraft but haven't gotten to it yet. There are many more people out there that would enjoy this game much more than me so to the winner I hope you have a blast with this game.
100+ hours on Steam so an immediate pickup for me on Switch. Love the fact it's like Civilization but without the AI ruining your plans constantly. The controls are pretty meh though, a bit half baked with the hotkeys and shortcuts but hopefully something that gets addressed in a future patch. Definitely is a "I'll stick this on for 15 mins" end up playing for a few hours game 😂
Maybe it's because this is my first time playing a game like this, but it goes from fairly easy to really hard quite quickly, I'm on my second playthrough and although I got further second time around, the spikes in expectation from your colonists are really hard to manage, and I've failed twice in a row now.
Civ VI for sure. I play Civ since Civ2, when i was 10 years old and couldnt understand english. Hahaha. And the funny part is that i still suck at civ.
I've played numerous strategy games in my life but I think my favorite for the switch was Mario and Rabbits. I picked it up on a sale and was pleasantly surprised.
Space games aren't just my cup of tea.. it's the whole dang tea factory. And combine that with a strategy game?? Well now I feel you're catering straight to me. Heading to the demo right now. So far you have not let me astray on any space games. Everspace has become one of my favorites and manticore is sitting in my backlog waiting for the right moment. Thank you!! Also Mark, if you haven't watched the tv series, the expanse, I think you would really enjoy it.
Oof this looks great! Have just started rereading The Expanse books so mars colonisation is very much my jam! At the other end of the spectrum I keep coming back to Jurassic World Evolution for my weekly dino fix ☺️
This game blew me away. This is definitely a sleeper hit. I bought this at the same time as Steamworld Build, and surprisingly I’ve spent more time with this (not saying Steamworld isn’t good). But this game gives me those “one more turn” vibes that keep me playing
This looks brilliant!!! Well done for another great video boys! Fav has to be civ 6, also really like two point hospital (although not sure that counts)! Thanks again guys!
Mario Rabbids for me. It took me by surprise by having good depth while being accessible enough for someone like me who isn't exactly Napoleon when it comes to military tactics!
I really liked Jurassic World Evolution and Two Point Hospital. I really wish that we could get Sid Meier’s Pirates on Switch. Specifically the PSP version.
Into the Breach all the way. Simple premise yet challenging strategy. Cool teams of mechs with different skills means there’s so much variety you can play it forever.
Ooooh this looks so up my street! Have always loved strategy games but finding good ones on consoles can be annoying! Favourite one I've played on Switch is This War of Mine. Really emotive and challenging game that I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys sorta survival strategy type games 😊
terraforming another planet in the form of a strategy game is something I'm looking for on the Switch, thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely check out the demo❤👽
I’m going to download the demo, but this looks like an interesting game. As you did the review, I couldn’t help but think of ways I could possibly use this in the homeschooling of my older two to talk about colonization; some of the good and the bad. I used to play Warlords and Warcraft way back when, and maybe this would fill the void of creating a community those had. Thanks for the review.
I don’t play these often but my boyfriend LOVES these types of games. Would love to be able to gift it to him. He loves Civilization 6 (who doesn’t???)🎉
This looks like a pretty spreadsheet. I mean that in the best way possible. It's like Surviving Mars mixed with the flavor events in Stellaris. I'd love a copy!
This got my attention as soon as I spotted it on the eShop. Nice that there's a demo, think I might just go and download that. My kind of game for sure. 👍
That game looks like a really banger time, love strategy games that play out almost like puzzles in a way and this seems to scratch the itch quite nicely
I can see this being insanely addictive. Favorite strat game was probably Total Annhilation on PC, but on switch, not sure. The Pikmin games are great, Civilization, various strat rpgs. So many options on the switch..of course always room for more...though not always time for all, lol.
Hey SwitchUp family - what is your favourite strategy game? Don't forget you can try this one for free and also we're giving away a copy! Mark
Civilization and into the breach!!!!
Tharsis and tactics ogre (March of the black queen)
Warcraft 3 and civilisation
I've always loved fire emblem. So, almost any one of those. If I had to pick one specifically, I would pick Three Houses. It gave me Harry Potter vibes and held me over until Hogwarts Legacy.
I've always loved fire emblem. So, almost any one of those. If I had to pick one specifically, I would pick Three Houses. It gave me Harry Potter vibes and held me over until Hogwarts Legacy.
This looks like it's heavily inspired by the board games Terraforming Mars
I have a horrible feeling I would end up responsible for the death of thousands of colonists 🤭🫶
Hahah it’s actually pretty forgiving but yeah there is definitely potential for that! Mark
I picked this up and absolutely love it. Nice controls and seems very in depth and fun
I absolutely loved this game on my PC. I have been waiting for this to hit switch for a very long time. I am so happy to see it finally released!

They could do a DLC where you can start your project by launching a nuclear bomb to start the process as an alternative with different outcomes.
Or maybe dlc building on a water planet, it's just a water world, no land mass, not much.
This looks like it has classic Sim City vibes. Seemingly quiet at first looks but so much going on under the surface. It looks awesome
My favorite strategy game is probably Into the Breach, unless Slay the Spire counts. This one looks quite interesting as well. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I agree with into the breach, deffo gets you going with the team acheivements.
If you like Slay the Spire, you should definitely check out Cobalt Core - an amazing Spirelike with great depth and variation!
i played a demo a while back on steam and it was a nice chill game. kind of like laid back version of surviving mars.
My all time favourite strategy game is always Sid Meyers Civilization VI but I don’t have it on Switch, but my favourite to play on Switch so far is Dicey Dungeon, the stages are challenging, both foes and characters are quirky and the music is bopping :D
I WORSHIP Into The Breach. Love Fire Emblem too but ITB is just such a gem! Getting the demo for this one now lol
Gotta say my favourite strategy game right now is Howl. It just came out in the latest Indie World but is such a cool little girl. The visuals are amazing and the game really ramps up nicely
All time favorite is northgard. Its all the fun of old settlers pc games with norse mythos.
my favorite strategy game on switch is Civilization VI which it can run somehow
My favorite strategy game on the switch is Railway Empire, and I would love to win a copy of the game from this video!❤
I love these types of games! Looks like another banger!
I’m going with mario + rabbids, that’s been a fun one to play multiplayer
my favorite strategy game is Company of Hero's, still cant believe we get one of the best war strategy games on the switch. I think that's why the switch is so successful appeals to a wider range of players not just people who like mario etc.
Since you are about adictive games a lot (which is great!), do a review on Astlibra! Such a good rpg with so adictive progression system. Steam reviews didn’t lie at all 👈
10 hours into it and I think it may be my game of the year.
@@Mattaiko82 maybe 🙂 it definitelly met my high standards. Even with its obscure graphics. Respect to devs to take such bold approach to a game.
I'll check it out! Mark
This is right up my street. Nice and relaxing with an emphasis of control and evolution of gameplay. IN SPACE!
Tactics Ogre Reborn is a joy on Switch.
Favorite strategy game on Switch. Triangle Strategy. Yet I really am still crossing my fingers for Final Fantasy Tactics if that EVER comes on
Wingspan and Niche are 2 of my favorite strategy games on switch but man this looks so good!!!!
Whoa. This looke like a game from my childhood in the 90's.
Picking it up.
Thanks mate.
This game feels like a nice blend of Civ VI and the board game Terraforming Mars. Can’t wait to try it
XCom Revenge of the fallen is amazing. I also always go back to Battle Brothers. A great strategy which is a little more cumbersome on the switch but I still love it.
My favorite strategy game is Factorio, you get to deaign and build massive factories, military complexes, mining outpostw, railways, armiesbof automated drones and more.

Sold my switch, but still sibscribe because your taste in games and great chemistry makes me happy about being a gamer. Ill check it out in steam
Not sure if it entirely counts but my favourite strategy game is fell seal. Just as good as a fire emblem or triangle strategy but much less well known. Definitely worth checking out if you have no idea what I'm talking about

How bad is performance on xcom…? I have it elsewhere, but thought of picking it up. Do you own physical or download?
@@dracul74 I downloaded it from the eShop. It's really only occasional frame rate drops, quite long load times, and lower quality graphics. Just like on other consoles, it can be a bit buggy, but as long as you save often, it is very playable.
Thx!@@Slothehhh
Civilization 6 is definitely my favorite strategy game I've played on Switch
Mario & Rabbids Sparks of Hope is my favourite strategy game. This one looks like an interesting one, though I think the little character pictures are a bit naff. Looks good though. Sounds like your "See ya" is a bit broken 😂.
My favorite strategy games are Sid Meyers Civ 2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. Amazing time.
Favorite on Switch, probably Advance Wars Rebooted.
Honestly civ was always my fav strategy game but there is so many choices, tharsis and tactics ogre are up there for me.

Favourite strategy game would be Civilization 5. It was my comfort game during college years. Picked up CIvilization 6 on Switch so I can play it during my daily commute.
This game reminds me of rimworld a game I used to watch people play all the time and loved.
Would absolutely love to win this and play it
Looks like Terraforming Mars (a favourite board game of mine) in adapted computer game form - sounds fantastic!
Not quite sure it counts as a pure strategy game on switch but I'm loving backpack hero
So this is like Surviving Mars with Green Planet DLC + Sid Civilisations in one game? Take my money!! 💰
My favorite game on Switch: sort my backlog in order of games I hope to play one day.
Project Highrise is my favourite strategy/resource management game. Need another good one so will be adding this to my wishlist!
Wingspan and Dicey Dungeons are my favorites right now. I grew up playing the heck out of Civ 2 and love the Civ series. This one looks great! *Adds to ever growing wishlist*
My favorite strategy game on the switch is Factorio. Insanely addictive!
Great review.
My favourite strategy games on switch is ultimate doom and doom 2 on ultra violence. You have to manage your ammo for different scenarios. Pick up health and ammo when it's most beneficial to you, and don't use the rocket launcher in a confined space. Classic.
Favorite strategy game on Switch so far has been Front Mission 1st. Enjoying it despite how CRUSHING it is.
I haven't played any strategy games in a while, I do have Weedcraft but haven't gotten to it yet. There are many more people out there that would enjoy this game much more than me so to the winner I hope you have a blast with this game.
Pikmin 4 is my favorite strategy game. This looks interesting, kinda reminds me of the old PC game Alpha Centauri.

I'm not usually a strategy player, but it looks like terraforming mars board game the video game, I'm now interested. 😮

Civ 6! It is my first and last! Absolutely love it have not had an opportunity for somthing else would love to win it. Downloading demo now
Gotta be XCOM 2! There’s nothing quite like creating friends and family members and taking them it to kill some aliens.
Civ VI for sure.
I play Civ since Civ2, when i was 10 years old and couldnt understand english. Hahaha.
And the funny part is that i still suck at civ.
I need this reminds me of the dream of Mars in The Expanse ! The last city building was on a pc based on Egyptian ancient civilization
Oh! This looks very interesting. Might get this. I’ve always loved Northgard. That’s a fun strategy game.
I've played numerous strategy games in my life but I think my favorite for the switch was Mario and Rabbits. I picked it up on a sale and was pleasantly surprised.

To be honest xcom 2 is my favorite strategy. It just fills every want i could ask for in one. And its just over all a great game.
Favorite strategy games are the Wargroove duology.
Oof this looks great! Have just started rereading The Expanse books so mars colonisation is very much my jam! At the other end of the spectrum I keep coming back to Jurassic World Evolution for my weekly dino fix ☺️
I'm gonna buy this one, with Civ, in switch and ps4, so I have something in home and other portable
This game blew me away. This is definitely a sleeper hit. I bought this at the same time as Steamworld Build, and surprisingly I’ve spent more time with this (not saying Steamworld isn’t good). But this game gives me those “one more turn” vibes that keep me playing

Northgard is my favourite strategy game, innovative rts
Mario Rabbids for me. It took me by surprise by having good depth while being accessible enough for someone like me who isn't exactly Napoleon when it comes to military tactics!
My favorite switch strategy game is : Thea the aweking.
Civilization 6 is my fave for the switch civ on the go is awsome
I really liked Jurassic World Evolution and Two Point Hospital. I really wish that we could get Sid Meier’s Pirates on Switch. Specifically the PSP version.
Definitely going to download the demo for this, looks a lot more chilled than my fav strategy title X-Com 2, which is also ridiculously addictive
Into the Breach all the way. Simple premise yet challenging strategy. Cool teams of mechs with different skills means there’s so much variety you can play it forever.
I definitely kept skipping this review bc I kept misreading the title as an addictive Transformers game lol.
Glad I learnt to read finally.
Lol I actually really like the art style. The illustrations are great
Ooooh this looks so up my street! Have always loved strategy games but finding good ones on consoles can be annoying! Favourite one I've played on Switch is This War of Mine. Really emotive and challenging game that I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys sorta survival strategy type games 😊
Civilisation 6 probably my favourite strategy game, or Jurassic world evolution, if that count? This one looks class though, love the space setting 👌
Favorite strategy game on the switch: CIV 6 on the go!🎉
Civ and XCOM and thanks so much for the review always loved the board game so this looks really interesting!
Into the breach has to be my favourite strategy game just narrowly beating out war grove
Worbital is one of my favs.
terraforming another planet in the form of a strategy game is something I'm looking for on the Switch, thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely check out the demo❤👽

My fave stray game on switch is Into the Breach. So gooooooood. ❤
I don’t play these often but my boyfriend LOVES these types of games. Would love to be able to gift it to him. He loves Civilization 6 (who doesn’t???)🎉
My biggest gripe with the switch is the lack of real strategy games… especially physical games. I have a ton on my pc… both rts and turn based.
I'll have to say my favorite strategie game is civ 6 it's my favorite strategie game of all times
I read it as transformers and skipped the video.
I re-read it and it was "terra"formers.
Dang it half asleep self at 4am
Never played a game like this before. Looks nice
Factorio is my favorite. It takes so much time though.
That game looks like a really banger time, love strategy games that play out almost like puzzles in a way and this seems to scratch the itch quite nicely
Civilization is my favorite strategy game
Ah yes, a demo, one of the worst enemy that a backlog can have. Game looks nice so im downloading it as we speak 😂
I was looking at this earlier today now adding to wishlist
Sadly I haven't got any strategy games on the switch. But that looks amazing. Sooner or later I will most likely buy it.👍
I can see this being insanely addictive. Favorite strat game was probably Total Annhilation on PC, but on switch, not sure. The Pikmin games are great, Civilization, various strat rpgs. So many options on the switch..of course always room for more...though not always time for all, lol.
