I see a lot of book titles have subtitles like that, where it explicitly tells you what kind of book it is. For books, it's because there are sooo many books released all the time that a catchy title isn't enough any more. You need to let people know exactly what it's about right away because most people won't give anything a second look. There are a lot of videos games coming out all the time too, so maybe some people are trying to catch the right audience from the get-go. I agree that it's a little weird, but on the other hand, it works. I pay a lot more attention to game titles that tell me they're exactly the kind of game I want to play from reading the title alone.
This channel has grown in quality since you boys started. I must admit I don’t watch all the videos especially the sales ones as my back log is probably between 500-1000. Snapping up those bargains becomes a habit
That naming convention has been round for a while, I laugh every time I see something like 'Police Shooter Grand Theft Car Chase Action Shooter' on the eShop.
Plucky squire looks really cool. Love the art style. Hope the gameplay is actually fun and makes for a great game. Looking forward to the switch up review!
Thanks SwitchUp, my wishlist just grew with Karate Kid, Matchbox and Hunt and Fight, games I would have definitely missed were it not for you. Glen you mentioned the Hot Wheels games, what are your thoughts on them and which is the better of them? Cheers!
The Keylocker title is obviously a reference to Metal Gear Solid, which kinda had “Tactical Espionage Action” as a subtitle. Same for all of those other indie games like that bartender one
Honestly you should play Hero of Fate. Its a swarm survivor that deals with cards to tell the story of the hero and it's going further with the vampire survivor swarm survivor game in general its really good and addictive.....
i can't wait to try the Plucky Squire :) (i've also got a Persona 4 Golden physical copy for Switch coming soon, i'll finally have a physical of P4G, it is one of my favourite games of all time)
I’m with you Glen, really not sure why devs can’t get more creative with their titles! We’ve just had Chef RPG come out with the same problem! The only exception I can think of is the remake of Super Mario RPG. But even then! Get creative guys!
i think its for better discoverability on the storefronts, indies only have a split second of attention, so they want to explicitly say all the necessary info about the game, its setting, its genre, etc. A name like that immediately tells you what it will be instead of calling it something fancy that doesnt convey anything to a scrolling potential buyer. But i agree, this tactic looks cheap, like a mobile game SEO optimization levels of cheap, but oh well, if it works and helps indie devs to better sell then okay.
@@ergohash2517 I can completely understand that. Wanting to be sure they convey as much info as possible in a short space is hard. But I worry it gets into being too generic, for me what intrigues me about a game is the title and the cover art. It makes me want to look into it more if it has a unique name.
@@ergohash2517 I also think that devs should know that consumers are smart! They know what they’re looking for, and even if they don’t it might encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and try something new!
@@emilyvonfraunhofer6429 Yep, i agree. I am also not a fan of it, but i get why they do it. And you are totally right - it gets them into a generic territory, there is a difference between "VA-11 Hall-A : Cyberpunk Bartender Action" (which is a unique and cool name ) and "VikingSlayer : Action RPG" for sure
@@ergohash2517 Absolutely! I really want to know why it’s called VA11: Hall A! But now we’re getting into the territory of what do we think about titles with colons that are really long!
Me too, it's shame the physical doesn't come out until February but if it means any patches make it onto the cartridge I'm fine with a delay. Plus I've got a huge backlog anyway.
This new Karate Kid game looks awesome! Another Shredders Revenge alike which I'm totally a sucker for. Theres a Toxic Avenger one coming soon too! Great for us 90s kids. Seems better than the other 2 Cobra Kai games. I hope they add DLC for Johnny though. He's a much cooler character than Daniel. Cobra Kai rulez!
Plucky Squire looks absolutely incredible, but I can't risk another game so close to the release of Zelda lest I get sucked into it; need to save myself for Echoes! Think I'm gonna hold on till Feb for the Plucky Squire physical. Can I resist? 😂
Do you ever go back and review games that didn't get much attention when they came out? I'm playing Girl Genius right now (because I love the web-comic) and it's a really fun game, but there are almost no reviews for it anywhere.
Putting the type of game in the title is a very mobile game trend - as it helps with search (people look for a specific type of game and find yours). It’s not as common with console games, but I’m not surprised that low budget titles on Switch would try it since it actually does help people find your game…even if it makes them sound silly. 😅
I’m super hyped for Plucky Squire, we already know from the devs that’s gonna target 30 fps on Switch, but I’m wondering about downgrades, I mean the actual fidelity of the game on the switch. If it really tanks comparing to all other ports it’s gonna be rather PS5 or Xbox SX for me. It’s gonna be a damn shame if it happens, I’d love to play this one on the switch but it’s just such a lovely art style to have a large downgrade in graphics. Fingers crossed for a good port!
I was excited about the Karate Kid but at that price its a big no at the moment and i am a fan of both karate Kid and beat em ups. But saying that if it does something different to others and is a bit longer. I will have to see a review on it. But Plucky Squire does look good i think that is a must.
With the matchbox only 14 tracks that seems low for a new racing game especially because hot wheels unleashed 1 and 2 have way more even before DLC but with the DLC it just dwarfs 14 tracks and only 10 cars as well at launch yes you can customise them but 10 seems super low but the open zone/world aspect seems interesting sort of like Lego 2k drive which I loved and was a ton of fun
I’ve watched you guys almost since the start superb channel. Only feedback would be you don’t need to say ‘it says the game is…’. Just say ‘the game is’. It just sounds so odd. Love the channel tho.
I’’ve been meaning to ask you guys (and anyone else that has a huge backlog) how they manage the space on your switch? Do both you SwitchUp guys have 1.5TB (the biggest I can find) SD Cards? Or are you good at archiving games? If you archive them, what will you do years down the line when Nintendo take the switch eshop offline? I’m currently “negotiating” with my wallet about how large an SD card I can afford…. 😅 EDIT- Oh and what brand of SD card do you guys use?
I wonder if these on the nose game titles are some developers trying to make sure they find their audience quickly. Because the eshop is such a loaded place, it might be difficult to stand out sometimes. Just my speculation though! Some of these games definitely look interesting 👀 but I need another game like a hole in my head. Welp. Off to be swiss cheese 🧀 🏃🏽♀️💨
can yall do a performance or just a review for lolipop chainsaw please the performance isnt the best on the base switch andi just would like to hear more from yall!
Plucky squire & zelda wisdom is worth to buy in Nintendo Other games average nt worth money to buy … They should remake Pokemon black white ,sun moon, x y ,gold heart soul silver 🙌 & they should remkae dragon ball goku legacy trilogy 🙌its worth getting
When I see a game that has a really descriptive title, I always immediately assume its shovelware garbage. Like what the actual funk is "Lion Simulator Survival: RPG Animal Battle"?!? Look it up, it actually exists! Its on sale right now for a couple pounds/dollars. Or "Submersible Simulator - Discover the Titanic into Ocean"?? That isn't even coherent
Plucky squire is going to be my birthday present to myself on Wednesday (plus quite probably very actually the 16bit karate kid beat em up) A lot of bangers this week!! Argh the temptations!!! 😀🫶

I’ve been waiting for The Plucky Squire since last year, I am really thrilled that it is being released in less than 3 days!!!!
it seriously looks super charming and fun.
The Plucky Squire looks brilliant, looking forward to your review!
So excited for the Plucky Squire!!
It feels like such a long time since we first heard about The Plucky Squire, glad to see it's finally here.
Hunt and Fight Action RPG catches my eye this time.
I’d love to see you make a video list of the Switch games which most stretch the visual capabilities of the Switch.
Very excited the Plucky Squire releases this week. I’ve been looking forward to that game ever since it was announced!
Thank for putting if it’s available physically ❤
Keylocker looks really interesting. On my list I also have:
Bloomtown (September 24th)
Beyond Galaxyland (September 24th, this one look really fun)
😁
Loddlenaut seems like a good one to play with the kids.
I love how the Jae really peculiar game little says JRPG in plane sight 😂
Hey Switchup! Please try Shogun Showdown! It absolutley rocks! Been playing it all week
I'm saving up for the new Zelda, but Plucky Squire is SO tempting!
I might have to break the piggy bank...
The music and atmosphere of No case remains unsolved reminded me a little bit of The Last Window, made me want to play it so much!

Great showcase! Love your work! Keep it up!
Man the game some of these creators develop is just on another level
I'll be watching for hunt and fight, looks right up my alley!
Plucky Squire, Karate Kid, Aura World and Keylocker. These 4 games looks very interesting to me. My wallet is not amused though. 😂
tbh NanoApostle caught my eye, oh, and Plucky Squire. Will wait on reviews, cheers lads
I'm at work eagerly anticipating getting home to load up The Plucky Squire. Can't wait to play it
NanoApostle is the standout for me this week
The Plucky Squire is finally here! Yay!
I've been waiting for The Plucky Squire for so long! I can't wait to pick it up

Not buying anything until Zelda.... until tomorrow's video? 😂😂
