I've been collecting the Micronauts. Love the led light. Wanted to share Found A chrome marker on amazon That works Great for repairing chrome on time travelers heads. Its Called MOLOTOW Molotow Liquid Chrome Alcohol Pump Marker. They look new now.
Very nice! It also might be interesting to use an LED that's the same color of the Time Traveler. Also, Micronauts collectors have discovered that replacing the black rubber tube that runs between the shoulders with a piece of clear aquarium tubing improves the look, and in this case, would not result in a dark strip blocking some of the light from the LED. (Likewise, some have sourced clear silicone versions of the O-ring).
If I'm remembering correctly there is a peg in the middle of the chrome chest piece that plugs into the figure from the front. If you were to Dremel out that peg you could probably fit a smaller hearing aid-type battery in that peg hole and have the entire thing self-contained. Was also thinking that those really tiny ribbon lights might be good for this as it could be wrapped around the inside of the body making for several points of light.
Stumbled upon this old video today. Pretty nice idea. I am thinking now it would be cool to 3D print an articulated display arm stand that integrates an LED this way to plug into the back. Maybe someday... As it is, my big personal LED goal is to figure out a way to nicely light up the exclusive Takara Crystal Robotman (clear transparent Biotron) from inside without damaging the toy itself. Lots of hollow space inside...
Excellent work, I have a bulk lot of those LED lights lying around doing nothing from a Lego Town project that didn't require as many as I'd thought, looks like a great use for them. You could fashion the battery part into a stand too, with a bit of work, which would be very useful. Thanks for the video and inspiration.
as always a very nice and loving video... i'm litterally amazed by the way u transform something in something else. keep the great job. cheers from Rome
Great idea with the lights. I noticed you Time Travelers have loose joints... an easy fix that a fellow collector suggested was to add some super glue to the joints and this helps to tighten the joints back to the original condition.
Using a Pyrex straw, you could run the power cable inside it. Although, the straws may be too thick to fit into the back. Maybe, incorporate the battery pack/button into the stand.
The memories are flooding back again! I remember my older brother having a Micronauts Airfix poster that featured the Biotron with some Time Travelers that looked like they lit up but I'm sure it was an effect they used for the poster! I think these figures were born to light up. I've just purchased an orange Time Traveler for £16 on EBay, is that good? another great video Toy poloi :)
Awesome video fella could you not make the battery pack a back pack for the figure with some fishing wire and the key ring hole In the side of the battery case
Have you tried modifying the Sentinel Light Up Timetraveler? Its odd that the light only extends to the upper torso, and not the lower torso or arms. Maybe there is a something in the body that is blocking the light? Great video, nice work!
Trouble keeping your Time Traveller steady on his feet? The holes in the feet of a Time Traveller fit snugly over a standard Lego stud, so you can use Lego Mini Figure stands to support and pose Time Traveller figures on.
I was a big fan of these toys as a kid. And, the original Marvel series, well, issues 1-12 are some of the best written and drawn comics ever

A very nice enhancement of making those translucent figures stand out! Good job.
these guys always reminded me of David Bowie
You continue to amaze me Dave.
I never got any of these. They look so cool.
The packaging was great

A great idea, thanks! I'm going to give this a go with a spare 2-1B droid I have.

Great video, Well done Dave. Thanks

I had forgotten about this video myself. I would do this differently today as well. Cheers

I really don't like the super glue tip. There is so much that can go wrong with it. So I use other methods, all covered in my videos.
your essentially just adding a small film of plastic to prevent the wobbly look... makes them easier to pose. A quick solution to a common problem.

You're so handy. I wish I was handy.

What a great tip thanks.

+Dengar UXB Thanks for the tip. Next weekend's video is about 3D printing custom stands for figures with loose legs and knees.
very cool..:)
of coarse when adding super glue you to work the joints before it dries.
I was wondering what type of soldering station you are using?
+Dave G I'll post a pic on my Facebook and Instagram later on.
Thank you
