Vintage Mirconauts Time Traveler repair - Toy Polloi

- I've repaired quite a few of these Micronauts Time Traveler figures over the years, but this one has some extreme head damage. Time to dig out some spares and modify a G.I.Joe T-bar to fit this figure. The chrome paint needs repairing and that causes a minor mishap.
Let's get on with the repairs.

When I was a kid, I remember Mom bought me a blue time traveler, and if I recall correctly, he had a blue sarcophagus. That was the only new one I ever owned. I had a couple more from sales, but they were always missing hands or feet. I'd love to have one again.
This was a line that I was not introduced to, until I was much older, and I love seeing and learning more and more about it with each video you make. Thank you, Dave!
I would really like to start collecting Micronaughts so this really helps because I’ve been reluctant to buy any damaged figures
So cool. I had the black horse as a kid.
I never could figure out if Micronauts were supposed to represent A.I. robots, cyborgs, or bio-augmented Humanoids; but they were awesome toys nevertheless!
They do have a whole back story. It's pretty interesting. As a child I never knew about it and just enjoyed them as toys.
Loving that new intro with the green space grid/vortex ... made me think of that scene where Unicron converts Megatron into Galvatron.
Thanks. It's based on Disney's Black Hole movie intro.
Awesome video...I challenge you to make a custom micronaut with that broken head, lol.... you can do it!!!! Yes you can!!! I like your custom videos. The throne you made blew my mind.
I had and loved the Time Traveler as a kid. I didn't care about any of the other toys in the line but I loved that one..
Ok.. The Green Pink and Black bug was cool..
Micronauts Time Traveler was the first action figure I can recall getting. I believe mine was orange. There's some heavy nostalgia there for me. You may have inspired me to track one down to restore.
Looks minty fresh that one now Dave, job well done
Thank you for this video! I have a bunch of Micronauts toys, some vintage and some Palisades reproductions. These repair tips are incredibly useful, an excellent resource that I will use next time I'm fixing one of my Micronauts!👍
Glad it was helpful!
Somewhere around age 10 or so (1982ish), I wound up with a second hand Micronauts Rocket Tubes Playset. Never could get it working. God knows where it went, but IF I STILL HAD IT, I’d absolutely send it over and make it Your Problem 😂.
Thanks for doing another Micronauts video! Really enjoyed this one. Merry Christmas!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I had the yellow one, and the clear one when I was a kid.
What an intro Dave..... incredibly cool man
Thanks 👍
They sure look sharp when placed as a group. I will want to obtain some stands to display them more stable.
The T bar looks like it has suffered from 'ZAMAK Rot', also known as 'Zinc Pest'. Never had any T bars suffer from it, but my original 1970's 'Acroyear' figure, which is mostly diecast, is crumbling away, because of it. If I were to accidentally drop him on the floor, he'd shatter like glass.
Hey Dave
Thanks for sharing, very interesting. I hope you and MrsTP have a wonderful Christmas, with Family and Friends 😊
Same to you!
Nice restoration of these clear style figures. Reminds me of the classic Tron figures.
I love Time Traveler, and I have one of each color. My brother used to tell me that the heads look like Lee Majors from the Six Million Dollar Man! lol. I guess he kind of does a bit at that.
I wish there was a way to tighten the knee joints on the figures, but I haven't really come up with a good solution other than that Kiki Fix Loose Joints compound that was being sold on Amazon a few years ago. Basically it's a milk or cream based compound that hardens between the joints to create some friction back into those areas, but that is only a temporary and not an ideal solution. Not really sure that anything can be done to fix those joints. Once the plastic near the metal posts get worn down, you're kind of stuck with a floppy leg.
Another great repair. I was hoping you'd put all that chrome paint to good use after the little spill and you sure did!
Merry Christmas to you and everyone else!
The miconuats were the coolest toys ever from the 70s
I wish i could buy them back but there are so expensive
Only ever had one Micronaut figure when I was a kid - made him into an Ace Frehley (Kiss guitarist) figure when I was 14.....
Regarding the t bar, you might consider those metal ball bearings with the holes through them....?
Excellent work once again!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks great, nice job. I'm surprised no one makes 3d printed reproduction parts for these figures, the only micronaut that survived my childhood is Repto and he's missing his hands, feet, and wings :(
They do, but I've not been impressed with them so far.
Dave he looked great mate and all best for Christmas and new year mate
Thanks, you too!
Totally awesomeness Brother. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎 👍 ❤️ ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️✨️✨️💯💯💯💯💯✨️✨️✨️✨️
Thanks for watching!
That paint may be a bit higher price but wow does it look like very little goes a long way with great results.
It works great, and it really is just a thin coat needed. I just wish it was easier to pour out 😜
@@toypolloi could you not pipette it from bottle to paint tray or is it too thick ?
That might work.
@@toypolloi Maybe you could pour it into a dropper bottle like those used by Vallejo. They are easy to pick up online or you might have an old, empty one that could be cleaned and reused.
I've been obsessing over ミクロマン and Micronauts recently and I'm honestly wondering if you've ever considered restoring an old junker Galactic Defender or Space Glider, since the paint chips off quite a bit on those and, since they're riveted together, O-ring changes are nigh impossible. I think it'd be a decently interesting challenge.
Excelente vídeo
What I do to keep from wasting Mirror is just paint from the lid. If you need more screw it back on and shake again and it will put enough back in the lid to go again.
Where is that available?

That intro was superb
Thanks 👍
I love your videos Dave, the only toy line that I collect is Star Wars but I never miss any of your videos as they are always informative as well as entertaining. Please keep up the good work and a Very Merry Christmas to you and your family
Wow, thanks! Have a great Christmas and New year 🎊
Cool project! Merry xmas!
Thanks! You too!
Hi there Dave another very interesting video just like to wish you and Mrs toypollo a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎅🎄🎉👍.
Ralph
Thanks. Happy Christmas to you as well.
Merry Christmas 🎉
I started collecting Micros back in 1999, and have built up a sizable collection. I was always annoyed that you couldn't get the aliens and other characters on the back of the cards here in the UK.
Micronauts were always so cool, but so, so fragile. Breathe on them wrong and they just burst apart. The wrist joints are thin as a toothpick. Still, great restoration as always!
Would a A team figure T bar fit ? From the small figures, great resto,Merry Christmas.
The Micronauts remind me of the police robots from THX 1138 with the silver head.
There is a similarity for sure.
@@toypolloi Yeah, I feel like Micronauts are like the THX 1138 of GI Joe.
Great video!!! In the event you ever spill out too much chrome paint again, if you wanted to paint up an old battered Boba Fett in all chrome, I would love to see how it comes out!!!
Brilliant! Thanks for repairing part of my childhood 😊
Just ordered your Annual. New to the channel. Per chance, will there be a reprint of last year’s?
Keep up the great work! Muchly appreciated 😊
Welcome aboard! Glad you are enjoying my videos. Currently there isn't a way to get last year's annual. But you never know. Cheers
👍👍👍 Good to see old friends.
Really difficult to not joke about the Microman t-bar compared to say, a GI Joe Gung-Ho or Roadblock. Have you come across the need and suitable replacement for the rubber tubes? It was posted a while back about using Palisades parts for that.
Thanks. I've not had to replace the rubber as I always seem to have spares. But it looks like a standard size rubber tube. I'm sure it would be easy to find something similar.
I use clear tubing for aquariums to replace these - just cut a bit out for that neck/ball. Also I cut slices off a bigger piece of clear tubing to replace O-rings in the transparent Micronauts. Gives them a better overall see-thru look! @@toypolloi
I think your super broken Micronauts could probably make a killer display figure, like that head could be a Micronaut that was killed. Along with any fully broken, irrepairable limbs
Never really seen these figures before (I only have knowledge of the comic which I think was rather different) - but the restoration went well and they look great!
Thanks for watching!
Mr. Polloi, hello, I've only just found your channel but I am a big fan of your work. I have a ton of toys I recently retrieved from my parents at they are cleaning house as of late and have been working to sort, organize, and fix as best I can any that are not functioning. I have been working a line of toys called "Air Raiders" of which you are likely familiar but they were a lesser known line so perhaps not. They have air pumps and are designed to fire missiles or do other minor movements with the attached air pumps. It is very common the air pumps no longer work (as I recall, they did not ever work tremendously well in the first place). I was wondering if you had ever repaired any Air Raider toys and had any ideas on how to repair or strengthen the air pump mechanisms within the toys? I have searched google for any ideas but have not come across anyone who has solved this and posted about it as of yet. Thank you much for the time to read this and any help you may be able to provide.
Hi, and welcome. I do know of the air raiders line but have never actually seen one to work on. If I ever find some I will definitely cover them on the channel as they sound and interesting problem. Cheers
I've got a toy repair question- do you have any experience with using rubber erasers to remove marks from toys (including marks over paint itself)? Like black marks from hitting other figures and stuff.
Hi, I either use lighter fluid or magic eraser to remove scuffs. I find lighter fluid is gentler. Magic eraser can be abrasive and damage factory paint.
Does he mirror Crome paint suffer with the same touch issues as molotow?
I don't find it does. Let it dry for a few hours before you really handle it. But it's pretty much good to go in an hour.
Do you sell these. I would love an orange and a blue time traveller. ?
£30 for 2oz.??? That’s almost $65.00! (Is that chromium fluid or liquid platinum?) 🤯
It is expensive. But it's very good. And a little goes a long way.
should that be 1.2 cm ?
I have a bunch of G.I. Joe stuff if interested?
